  • Today, the number of automated machine has rapidly increased in industrial workplaces. Nevertheless, workers are often required to handle materials manually. Technical information for using the revised NIOSH lifting equation to evaluate a variety of two - handed Manual Material Handling (MMH) tasks was investigated. The NIOSH suggested the Lifting Index that provides a relative estimate of the level of physical stress associated with a particular manual lifting task. To measure operator's workload in lifting task, Lifting Index Simulator(LIS) was developed based upon the revised NIOSH lifting equation in this study. The purpose of this study was to develop LIS and use the NIOSH lifting equation in our workplace.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the performance of national R&D projects and to find out measures to improve the performance indicators, focusing on energy HRD projects. The main analysis target is 86 energy manpower projects supported since 2010. The performance indicators of the energy HRD projects are related to the research capacity, the number of emission workers, industry-university linkage, job creation and so on, and analyzed by using the 11 indicators of human resource performance index called KPI index. As a result of analyzing the attainment level of the proposed target by task, the index with the highest achievement level is the corporation linkage rate, and the index with the lowest achievement level is the participating company employment. As a result of examining the effects of job creation in company - linked activities, it was found that the greater the number of participating companies in the business, the greater the employment creation effect of the number of internships. As a result of the above analysis, the following policy alternatives are proposed. First, it is necessary to consider adding indicators that can express the quality performance of the business and performance indicators that can express actual business linkages. Second, it is necessary to strengthen the management of differentiated performance indicators according to policy performance targets and major target groups. Third, it is necessary to improve information input and accumulation system along with improvement of performance index.

  • A comparison of fully developed heat transfer and friction factor characteristics has been made in rectangular ducts with one wall roughened by five different shapes. The effects of rib shape geometries and Reynolds number are examined. The rib height-to-duct hydraulic diameter, pitch-to-height ratio, and aspect ratio of channel width to height are fixed at $e/D_e=0.0476$, P/e=8, and W/H=2.33, respectively. To understand the mechanisms of the heat transfer enhancements, the measurements of the friction factors are also conducted in the smooth and rough channels. The data indicate that the triangular type rib has a substantially higher efficiency index than any other ones in the range we studied.

  • An f-coloring of a graph G = (V, E) is a coloring of edge set E such that each color appears at each vertex v $\in$ V at most f(v) times. The minimum number of colors needed to f-color G is called the f-chromatic index $\chi'_f(G)$ of G. Any graph G has f-chromatic index equal to ${\Delta}_f(G)\;or\;{\Delta}_f(G)+1,\;where\;{\Delta}_f(G)\;=\;max\{{\lceil}\frac{d(v)}{f(v)}{\rceil}\}$. If $\chi'_f(G)$= ${\Delta}$f(G), then G is of $C_f$ 1 ; otherwise G is of $C_f$ 2. In this paper, the classification problem of complete graphs on f-coloring is solved completely.

  • Recently, aquaculture farm sites have been increased with demand of the expensive fish species and sea food like as seaweed, laver and oyster. Therefore coastal water quality have been deteriorated by organic contamination from marine aquaculture farm sites. For protecting of coastal environment, we need to control the location of aquaculture sites. The purpose of this study is to detect the laver aquaculture sites using multispectral remotely sensed data with autodetection algorithm. In order to detect the aquaculture sites, density slice and contour and vegetation index methods were applied with SPOT and IKONOS data of Shinan area. The marine aquaculture farm sites were extracted by density slice and contour methods with one band digital number(DN) carrying 65% accuracy. However, vegetation index algorithm carried out 75% accuracy using near-infra red and red bands. Extraction of the laver aquaculture site using remotely sensed data will provide the efficient digital map for coastal water management strategies and red tide GIS management system.

  • Process Capability indices (PCIs) have been widely used in manufacturing industries to provide a quantitative measure of process performance. PCIs have been developed to represent process capability more exactly. In the previous studies, only one designated location on each part is measured. But even though in single process, multiple measurement locations on each part are required to calculate the reliable process capability. In this paper, we propose a new process capability index with multiple measurement locations on each part. We showed numerical examples and sensitivity analysis according to the number of measurement locations.

  • A great number of firms have used overall equipments effectiveness index to evaluate the effect of TPM activities. Overall equipments effectiveness is very useful index to emphasize the need of decreasing equipments loss time when TPM system is first implemented. And it is powerful to evaluate prductivity growth rate according to TPM activities when GNP growth rate is high level. However, during the depression period, the increase of overall equipments effectiveness does not contribute fully to the cost down, the reason is that demand is falling. In this paper, we present the rectified TPM activities which can be applied to the depression period, and analysis the improvement activities of production part how to contribute to the cost down,

  • In this paper, a thickness compensation function is introduced to consider the shear deformation and warping effect resulting from increased thickness in the composite multi-cell wing box. The thickness compensation function is used to perform the structure optimization of the multi-cell. It is determined by minimizing the error of an analytical formula using solid mechanics and the Ritz method. It is used to define a structural performance prediction expression due to the increase in thickness. The parameter is defined by the number of spars and analyzed by the critical buckling load and the limited failure index as a response. Constraints in structural optimization are composed of displacements, torsional angles, the critical buckling load, and the failure index. The objective function is the mass, and its optimization is performed using a genetic algorithm.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to classify the energy efficiency of 131 tractor models tested during from 2006 to 2010 in Korea. Methods: Four sub-indexes were developed using the fuel consumptions at 60% and 90% of rated speed with partial loads and at pull speeds of 3.0 km/h and 7.5 km/h with maximum drawbar pull. Weighting factors of the sub-indexes were also considered to reflect the characteristics of tractor's actual working hours in Korea. Four sub-indexes were integrated into a classification index. Using the developed classification index, a five-classification system was made on the basis of normal distribution of tractors over the classification range. Percentage of $1^{st}$ grade interval was expected to be close to 15%, $2^{nd}$ grade 20%, $3^{rd}$ grade 30%, $4^{th}$ grade 20%, $5^{th}$ grade 15%. Results: Number of $1^{st}$ grade was 21, $2^{nd}$ grade 23, $3^{rd}$ grade 39, $4^{th}$ grade 33, $5^{th}$ grade 15 among 131 models. Conclusions: Classification index was developed by integrating four sub-indexes. By the classification method using developed index, distribution of classified tractors was acceptable for practical application.

  • The use of construction machinery has been increasing every year due to the large scale, high-rise and lack of workers in construction work. On the other hand, deaths are on the rise every year due to inadequate risk management for construction machinery work. In addition, the number of deaths caused by the lack of signals or insufficient signals during construction machinery work is increasing rapidly, and it is deemed necessary to analyze the actual conditions and take countermeasures. Therefore this study has developed the Strength Risk Index (SRI) based on the Frequency Risk Index (FRI) and the 5W1H by analyzing in-depth deaths caused by construction machinery over the past five years. The risk index (RI) was assessed using the frequency and strength risk index derived to determine whether it is acceptable (acceptable risk < 0.25 ≦ unacceptable risk) and the risk assessment method for reducing risk was proposed by applying 3E (Engineering, Education, Enforcement) measures for each level of risk for unacceptable risk. It also proposed measures to improve the system, such as requirements for signal numbers, mandatory placement standards, and mandatory installation of side and rear monitoring cameras, as measures for accidents caused by failure to deploy signals or insufficient signals, which account for the highest proportion of deaths among construction machinery operators and workers.
