ASSESSING CALIBRATION ROBUSTNESS FOR INTACT FRUIT

  • Near infra-red (NIR) spectroscopy has been used for the non-invasive assessment of intact fruit for eating quality attributes such as total soluble solids (TSS) content. However, little information is available in the literature with respect to the robustness of such calibration models validated against independent populations (however, see Peiris et al. 1998 and Guthrie et al. 1998). Many studies report ‘prediction’ statistics in which the calibration and prediction sets are subsets of the same population (e. g. a three year calibration validated against a set from the same population, Peiris et al. 1998; calibration and validation subsets of the same initial population, Guthrie and Walsh 1997 and McGlone and Kawano 1998). In this study, a calibration was developed across 84 melon fruit (R$^2$= 0.86$^{\circ}$Brix, SECV = 0.38$^{\circ}$Brix), which predicted well on fruit excluded from the calibration set but taken from the same population (n = 24, SEP = 0.38$^{\circ}$Brix with 0.1$^{\circ}$Brix bias), relative to an independent group (same variety and farm but different harvest date) (n = 24, SEP= 0.66$^{\circ}$ Brix with 0.1$^{\circ}$Brix bias). Prediction on a different variety, different growing district and time was worse (n = 24, SEP = 1.2$^{\circ}$Brix with 0.9$^{\circ}$Brix bias). Using an ‘in-line’ unit based on a silicon diode array spectrometer, as described in Walsh et al. (2000), we collected spectra from fruit populations covering different varieties, growing districts and time. The calibration procedure was optimized in terms of spectral window, derivative function and scatter correction. Performance of a calibration across new populations of fruit (different varieties, growing districts and harvest date) is reported. Various calibration sample selection techniques (primarily based on Mahalanobis distances), were trialled to structure the calibration population to improve robustness of prediction on independent sets. Optimization of calibration population structure (using the ISI protocols of neighbourhood and global distances) resulted in the elimination of over 50% of the initial data set. The use of the ISI Local Calibration routine was also investigated.

  • 스마트 모바일의 보급에 따라, 컴퓨터 보안에서 ARM 아키텍처 명령어로 구성된 위치 독립적 코드의 역어셈블리 기법이 중요해지고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 기존 기법들은 x86 아키텍처 대상으로 연구되었으며, 위치 종속적 코드의 문제 해결과 범용성에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 따라서, ARM 아키텍처의 고정 길이 명령어와 위치 독립적 코드의 특징이 제대로 반영되지 않아, 바이너리 계측과 같이 바이너리 자체를 직접 수정하는 수준의 고도화된 응용 보안 기술에 적용하기에는 수집되는 주소 정보의 정확도가 낮다. 본 논문에서, 우리는 ARM 명령어로 구성된 위치 독립적인 코드의 특성을 반영한 역어셈블리 기법을 제안한다. 정확하고 추적 가능한 주소의 수집을 위해, 도메인이 기호화된 값-집합 분석을 설계하였다. 또한, 역어셈블의 주요 문제점을 해결하기 위해, 컴파일러가 생성하는 코드의 특징을 활용한 휴리스틱을 고안하였다. 우리 기법의 정확도와 유효성을 검증하기 위해, 안드로이드 8.1 빌드에 포함된 669개의 공유라이브러리 및 실행 파일을 대상으로 실험하였으며, 그 결과 완전한 역어셈블의 비율이 91.47%로 나왔다.

최대독립집합 문제의 최소차수 정점 우선 선택 알고리즘 (First Selection Algorithm of Minimum Degree Vertex for Maximum Independent Set Problem)

  • 본 논문은 지금까지 NP-완전인 난제로 알려진 최대 독립집합(MIS) 문제를 선형시간 복잡도로 해결한 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 "MIS 집합의 모든 정점들은 상호간에 연결되지 않는다"는 기본 성질을 적용하여 n개의 정점으로 구성된 그래프에서 최소 차수 ${\delta}(G)$ 정점 ${\nu}$를 선택하고 부속 간선을 제거하였을 때 차수가 변하지 않는 정점들을 차수 오름차순으로 계속적으로 선택하는 단순한 방법을 적용하였다. 제안된 알고리즘을 22개 그래프에 적용한 결과, 시각적으로 그래프를 보면서도 MIS를 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 장점을 갖고 있으며, 알고리즘은 항상 MIS 집합의 원소 개수인 ${\alpha}(G)$회를 수행하여 알고리즘 복잡도는 O(n)으로 선형 알고리즘이다. 결국, 제안된 MIS 알고리즘은 MIS의 최적 해를 도출하는 일반적인 알고리즘으로 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

Lifting 기법을 이용한 Generalized Bilinear Cover Inequality (Generalized Bilinear Cover Inequality via Lifting)

  • In this paper, we generalize lifted inequalities to a 0-1 mixed-integer bilinear covering set with linear terms. This work is motivated by the observation that Generalized Bilinear Inequality (GBI) occurs in the Branch and Bound process. We find some conditions and prove the subadditivity of lifting functions for lifting to be sequence-independent. Using the theoretical results, we develop facet-defining inequalities for a GBI-defined set through three steps of lifting.

Quantitative Counting of Bifidobacterium spp. in a Sample Mixed with Lactobacillus acidophilus

  • PCR was used for quantitative counting of Bifidobacterium spp. in a sample mixed with Lactobacillus acidophilus using two primer sets; one set for universal priming and the other set for Bifidobacterium specific priming. DNA products from two independent PCRs with DNA extracted from the mixed sample were found to be easily distinguishable from each other by agarose gel electrophoresis. The concentrations of PCR products correlated with the total number of bacteria and with the number of Bifidobacterium spp. present in the sample.

  • Due to a computerized data processing, there are many cases when we encounter a huge data set. On the other hand, advances in computing technologies make it possible to deal with a huge data set. One important area is the data mining. In this paper we consider data mining when the dependent variable is binary. The proposed method is to use the poly-class model when the independent variables consists of continuous and discrete variables. An example is provided.

도시근린공원의 적정조도모형 (Model on the Suitable Illuminance at Urban Neighborhood Park)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the suitable illuminance model of an urban neighborhood park. To this end, 1 dependent variable and 11 independent variables were set, and multiple regression analysis was applied to find correlation between variables and the model. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Among 11 independent variables abstracted to study suitable illuminance model of an urban neighborhood park, as a result of analysis on correlation between suitable illuminance of a dependent variable and activity space by using dummy variables, activity type and illuminance by spaces the suitable illuminance required for an urban neighborhood park was much influenced by activity type, and the fact that the activity was not limited to a specific space. 2) As a result of multiple regression analysis, independent variables influencing the suitable illuminance model of an urban neighborhood park were activity space, illuminance by spaces, seated activity, standing activity, and sporting activity. And, for relative contribution of independent variables to suitable illuminance, activity with sporting showed an importance 22 times higher than seated activity. When the central square(Sp_1) of activity spaces was set to reference category using dummy variables, it showed a contribution 52 times higher than sorting space(Sp_7) and the central square as the most important variable. 3) It was analyzed that suitable illuminance of an urban neighborhood part was most influenced by sporting activity but the relative contribution of a sporting space where activity with sporting occurs was least in view of the function of the space. Very high illuminance is required to accept high activity, and if illuminance at a certain space becomes too high, it may influence the illuminance of other spaces, and may consequently have a negative effect on the suitable illuminance of an urban neighborhood park. The results of this study were mainly for teenagers and young adults in their twenties, so further concrete studies which consider gender and a wider age range are needed in the future. Based on subsequent study, suitable illuminance by spaces shall be suggested.

중심이동과 독립기저영상을 이용한 얼굴인식 (Face Recognitions Using Centroid Shift and Independent Basis Images)

  • 본 논문에서는 1차 모멘트와 뉴우턴법의 고정점 알고리즘 독립성분분석을 조합한 얼굴인식 기법을 제안하였다. 여기서 1차 모멘트는 입력되는 얼굴영상의 중심좌표를 계산하는 것이며, 이는 얼굴을 중심 이동하여 인식에 불필요한 배경을 배제시킴으로써 인식성능을 개선시키기 위함이다. 고정점 알고리즘의 독립성분분석은 통계적으로 독립인 얼굴특징들의 집합인 기저영상을 빠르게 얻기 위함이다. 제안된 기법을 64*64 픽셀의 48개(12명*4장) 얼굴영상을 대상으로 city-block, Euclidean, 그리고 negative angle의 3가지 거리 척도를 분류척도로 이용하여 실험하였다. 실험결과, 제안된 기법은 전처리과정을 거치지 않는 단순히 독립기저영상만을 이용하는 기법보다 우수한 인식성능이 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 city-block이 Euclidean이나 negative angle의 거리척도보다 상대적으로 정확하게 유사성을 측정할 수 있었다.

Coordinated Control of an Independent Multi-phase Permanent Magnet-type Transverse Flux Linear Machine Based on Magnetic Levitation

  • This paper proposes a coordinated control for an independent multi-phase transverse flux linear synchronous motor (IM-TFLSM) based on magnetic levitation. The stator structures of the IM-TFLSM are composed of a two set, which has independent three-phase windings and a double-sided air-gap as opposed to the conventional Y-connected three-phase linear motors. A suitable control algorithm is necessary to operate the applied linear machine. This study proposes a coordinated control algorithm for adjusting the mover air-gap and thrust force of the IM-TFLSM in order to maintain air-gap and phase shifted current control of the independent 3-phase modules. In addition, the principle of operation and its special structures are described in detail and the validity and effectiveness of the control algorithm is verified through multiple experimental results.

  • In the present paper we construct and introduce a new topology from an old one which are independent each of the other. The members of this topology are called ${\omega}_{\delta}$-open sets. We investigate some basic properties and their relationships with some other types of sets. Furthermore, a new characterization of regular and semi-regular spaces are obtained. Also, we introduce and study some new types of continuity, and we obtain decompositions of some types of continuity.
