  • We investigated the changes in oriental medical market based on supply and demand of market in Korea. It is shown that the supply of western medical doctors is 6.6 times as large as that of oriental medical doctors(醫師) in 1998. The supply of western medical doctors(韓醫師) showed the greater increasing rate than that of oriental medical doctors in 1975. However, the supply of western medical doctors was almost the same as that of oriental medical doctors in the increasing rate between 1985 and 1995. Similar trends was observed in the number of hospitals and clinics. From of viewpoint of demand, the use of oriental medicine was remarkably increasing from 1990 to 1997. Oriental medical institution showed a marked increase of 48.1 % in the total medical institution showed an increase of 21.6%. These results provided a strong evidence that oriental medicine had greater increasing rate than western medicine in the supply and demand of medical market and suggest that the use of oriental medicine may play a role in the specialization of oriental medicine.

  • In this study, we have investigated the effect of the substrate temperature and oxygen flow rate on the characteristics of IZO thin films for the OLED (organic light emitting diodes) devices. For this purpose, IZO thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering at room temperature and $300^{\circ}C$ with various $O_2$ flow rate. In order to investigate the influences of the oxygen, the flow rate of oxygen in argon mixing gas has been changed from 0.1sccm to 0.5sccm. IZO thin films deposited at room temperature show amorphous structure, whereas IZO thin films deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ show crystalline structure having an (222) preferential orientation regardless of $O_2$ flow rate. The electrical resistivity of IZO film increased with increasing flow rate of $O_2$ under Ar+$O_2$. The change of electrical resistivity with increasing flow rate of $O_2$ was mainly interpreted in terms of the charge carrier concentration rather than the charge carrier mobility. The electrical resistivity of the amorphous-IZO films deposited at R.T. was lower than that of the crystalline-IZO thin films deposited at $300^{\circ}C$. The change of electrical resistivity with increasing substrate temperature was mainly interpreted in terms of the charge carrier mobility rather than the charge carrier concentration. All the films showed the average transmittance over 85% in the visible range. The current density and the luminance of OLED devices with IZO thin films deposited at room temperature in 0.1sccm $O_2$ ambient gas are the highest amongst all other films. The optical band gap energy of IZO thin films plays a major role in OLED device performance, especially the current density and luminance.

  • This experiment was carried out to the effects of population density and C/N ratios of feed on the growth, reproductive effciency and cast producation of the earthworm(Eisenia foetida). The population densities of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 individuals of the earthworm fed with different C/N ratios of 25, 35, 45 and 55 cow manures were studied in rearing box($6,400cm^3$), and at the fertility stage during a period of 60 days. The results were summarized as follows; The survial rate(SR), increasing rate(IR), reproductive efficiency(RE) and cast production of the earthworms showed highest values in C/N ratio of 25. These results may indicate that C/N ratio of 25 is a very favourable feed for the growth of the earthworms. The survial rate(SR) indicated significant positive correlation with reproductive efficiency(RE) in different C/N ratios of feeds. The survial rate(SR) showed highest values in population densities of $50{\sim}100$ worms/$6,400cm^3(64.0{\sim}128.0cm^3/worm$). On the contrary, increasing rate(IR) tended to decreased with the increased population densities. The survival rate(SR) indicated significant negative correlation with reproductive efficiency(RE) in different population densities of the earthworms. The cast production estimated were $31.6mg{\sim}67.4mg/day/worm$ grown in optimum population densities($50{\sim}100\;worms/6,400cm^3$). The earthworm casting are an excellent soil conditioning material or organic fertilizer sources with a high chemical composition and their physical properties.

  • In this study, we have investigated the effect of the substrate temperature and hydrogen flow rate on the characteristics of IZO thin films for the organic light emitting diodes (OLED) devices. For this purpose, IZO thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering at room temperature and $300^{\circ}C$ with various $H_2$ flow rate. In order to investigate the influences of the oxygen, the flow rate of hydrogen in argon mixing gas has been changed from 0.1sccm to 0.9sccm. IZO thin films deposited at room temperature show amorphous structure, whereas IZO thin films deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ show crystalline structure having an (222) preferential orientation regardless of $H_2$ flow rate. The electrical resistivity of IZO film decreased with increasing flow rate of $H_2$ under Ar+$H_2$. The electrical resistivity of the amorphous-IZO films deposited at R.T. was lower than that of the crystalline-IZO thin films deposited at $300^{\circ}C$. The increase of electrical resistivity with increasing substrate temperature was interpreted in terms of the decrease of the charge carrier mobility and the charge carrier concentration. All the films showed the average transmittance over 83% in the visible range.

  • The rheological properties of cement paste system mixed with mineral admixture for the purpose of increasing the strength and improving durability and rheology of concrete were investigated. The results were as follows: The rheological properties of one-ingredient paste system were improved with increasing the dosage of superplasticizer. For two-ingredients paste system, increasing the replacement rate of BFS(blast furnace slag) and FA(fly ash), the yield value and plastic viscosity were decreased compared with non-replacement. In the OPC(ordinary portland cement)-SF(silica fume) system, increasing the replacement rate of SF, the plastic viscosity and yield value increased linearly. In three-ingredients paste system, both OPC-BFS-SF and OPC-FA-SF system, the rheological properties were improved compared with the only replacement of SF. Both two- and three- ingredients paste system, the rheological properties using BFS were improved more than FA.

  • In this study, it was observed that hydrogen Productivity varied with stirrer speed, bead radius, input glucose concentration and dilution rate in a continuous stirred tank reactor in which immobilized R. rubrum KS-301 was used as a hydrogen-producing bacterium The mass transfer resistance due to cell immobilization was also studied. In order to estimate an effectiveness factor, Des of glucose was first obtained, which was subsequently represented by the correlation equation between Dos and Xb, As a result external mass transfer resistance could be neglected for stirrer speeds greater than 400rpn With bead radius increasing, the hydrogen productivity and internal effectiveness factor decreased. With input 91ucose concentration increasing, the hydrogen productivity and interval and external effectiveness factor increased. Although an Internal effectiveness factor was not affected, hydrogen productivity Increased with dilution rate increasing. An overall effectiveness factor remained nearly constant for the dilution rates investigate4 but increased with input 91ucose concentration increasing.

  • This study assessed the preparation and quality characteristics of cookies prepared from Taraxacum coreamm powder (TCP) (0, 2, 4, 6, 8%) substituting wheat flour. The pH of the cookie dough significantly decreased with increasing TCP. However the density of the cookie dough was not significantly different among the test groups. The baking loss rate of the groups with TCP was slightly lower, whereas the moisture content was higher than the control group. The spread factor of the cookies decreased significantly with increasing TCP. The hardness of the cookies increased as TCP increased. In Hunter's color value, the L and a value of the cookies decreased with increasing TCP, while the b value increased. The DPPH radical scavenging activity of the cookies significantly increased with increasing TCP. Based on the above results, this study suggested that TCP can be a good ingredient to increase the functionality of cookies.

  • The numerical simulation method was utilized to investigate the optimal condition for synthesizing ultrafine SiC powders by using $TMS[Si(CH_3)_4]-H_2$ gaseous mixtures in the horizontal reactor. As a result of the theoretical analysis, the conversion percentage of TMS source was increased with increasing reaction temperature, however, which was decreased with increasing H$_2$flow rate. Though the SiC particles concentration synthesized was decreased with increasing the reaction temperature due to the higher collision rate in the gas phase, they were increased with increasing the H$_2$flow rate and TMS concentration. The SiC particle size showed a tendency to become larger as the reaction temperature and the initial TMS concentration were increased and smaller as the H$_2$ flow rate was increased. The variation of experimental particle size with the reaction temperature, H$_2$flow rate and TMS concentration was agreed with the theoretical results.
