자라 심장 박출량과 $K^{+}$ 농도 (Effects of Potassium Ion Concentrations on the Cardiac Performances in the Turtle Heart Amyda japonica)

  • Changes in cardiac performances were observed under variations of the arterial and/or venous pressures with K-loading or K-depletion in turtle heart. Hearts were perfused with turtle Ringer-Locke's solutions containing various levels of potassium ion concentration. When venous pressure increased from 4 to 12 cm $H_2O$, cardiac output increased from $6.2{\pm}0.68$ to $15.7{\pm}0.75\;ml/min$, concomittantly. On the contrary, cardiac output decreased during the elevation of arterial pressure. Stroke work increased more prominently during the arterial pressure elevation than during the elevation of venous pressure. During K-depletion$(1{\sim}2mEq/L)$, cardiac output increased to two times that of normal K-concentration$(3{\sim}6\;mEq/L)$ group. Heart rate increased also, but less markedly. In K-loaded$(7{\sim}8\;mEq/L)$ group, both the cardiac output and heart rate decreased but stroke volume rather increased, because heart rate decrement was disproportionate to that of cardiac output. We concluded that in perfused turtle heart, cardiac output variation was more sensitive to K_depletion whereas heart rate to K-loading.

Compressive strength characteristics of cement treated sand prepared by static compaction method

  • An experimental program was conducted to investigate the effects of the static compaction pressure, cement content, water/cement ratio, and curing time on unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the cement treated sand. UCS were conducted on samples prepared with 4 different cement/sand ratios and were compacted under the lowest and highest static pressures (8 MPa and 40 MPa). Each sample was cured for 7 and 28 days to observe the impact of curing time on UCS of cement treated samples. Results of the study showed the unconfined compressive strength of sand increased as the cement content (5% to 10%) of the cement-sand mixture and compaction pressure (8 MPa to 40 MPa) increased. UCS of sand soil increased 30% to 800% when cement content was increased from 2.5% to 10%. Impact of compaction pressure on UCS decreased with a reduction in cement contents. On the other hand, it was observed that as the water content the cement-sand mixture increased, the unconfined compressive strength showed tendency to decrease regardless of compaction pressure and cement content. When the curing time was extended from 7 days to 28 days, the unconfined compressive strengths of almost all the samples increased approximately by 2 or 3 times.

대전지역 중학생의 혈압 분포와 비만지수 및 일부 환경인자와의 관계 (Blood Pressure Distribution of Adolescents in Taejon City and its Relationship with Obese Index and Several Environmental Factors)

  • Blood pressure distribution of adolescents and its several related factors including obesity were investigated through blood pressure measuring by automated oscillometric method, anthropometry, and questionnaire. Subjects were 480 female and 480 male middle school students living in Taejon. Mean values of systolic(SBP)/diastolic(DNP) blood pressure of male and female students were 118.4$\pm$11.0/69.5$\pm$9.6 mmHg and 116.9$\pm$10.4/69.5$\pm$8.6 mmHg, respectively. Their blood pressures, particularly SBP, increased with age and showed higher value in the males than in the females. All frequency distributions of SBP and DBP, by sex and age, showed normal curves and their 50th, 90th, and 95th percentiles were presented. As obese index increased, both SBP and DBP were elevated and the prevalence of hypertension which was classified by Task Force Report(1987) increased, particularly in male students. Body weight and BMI were positively correlated with both SBP and DBP, and hight was also positively correlated with SBP or DBP. Our data inicated that blood pressure and hypertension prevalence of adolescents tended to increase and various internal and external environmental factors affected them. It was emphasized that blood pressure measurement should be done in every medical examination of adolescents and the nationwide Korean standard of blood pressure for adolescents have to be prepared.   • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the volume fraction of water and injection pressure on the spray characteristics of water/oil emulsified fuel injected from the pressure swirl atomizer. The mixture of light oil and water by using impeller mixer was performed. The spray characteristics such as SMD and velocity were measured using PDPA. The injection pressures were 7.5, 100, 200 and $300kgt/cm^2$ and volume fractions of water in emulsified fuel were 0, 10, 20 and 30%, respectively. The measurement sections were at 30, 60 and 90mm from injection nozzle tip. SMD and velocity of emulsified fuel were larger gradually by increasing the volume fraction of water in emulsified fuel. The spray angle was decreased and axial velocity was increased with increase in water content. It was found that the relative SMD ratio was increased more greatly than the relative axial velocity ratio in super critical pressure. The relative SMD ratio was increased and the relative axial velocity ratio was decreased with increase injection pressure at spray downstream.

  • The stabilities of the charge transfer complexes of pentamethyl benzene with iodine in n-hexane have been investigated by UV-spectrophotometric measurements at 25, 40 and 60$^{\circ}C$ up to 1600 bars. The equilibrium constant of the complex formation was increased with pressure while being decreased with temperature raising. Changes of volume, enthalpy, free energy and entropy for the formation of the complexes were obtained from the equilibrium constants. The red-shift at higher pressure, the blue-shift at higher temperature, and the relation between pressure and oscillator strength have been discussed by means of thermodynamic functions. In comparison with the results in the previous studies, the absolute values of ${\Delta}$V at each temperature were increased with the number of methyl groups of polymethyl benzene. However, it can be seen that both ${\Delta}$H and ${\Delta}$S show extreme behaviors in durene near atmospheric pressure but they are negatively increased with the number of methyl groups near 1600 bar. This order of the thermodynamic parameters may be a measure of the relative basicities of polymethyl benzenes toward iodine under each pressure, and these phenomena are explained in terms of a positive inductive effect and a steric hindrance effect of the polymethyl benzene molecule.

DME를 연료로 하는 압축 착화 엔진용 고압연료 펌프의 성능 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Performance of High Pressure Fuel Pumps for Compression Ignition Engines Fueled by DME)

  • In this study, the performance of high-pressure fuel pumps was compared to find a high-pressure pump suitable for dimethyl ether (DME) fuel, and to establish a database of basic data on flow rates. The use of DME in compression ignition engines can reduce pollutant emissions. The cetane value of DME is higher than that of diesel fuel. The physical properties of DME are similar to liquefied gasoline gas (LPG), and when pressurized at a pressure of 6 bar or more, it changes from gas to liquid. Two types of high pressure pumps used in this study were independent injection type pump and a wobble plate type pump. Two high-pressure pumps with different injection types were compared. By measuring and comparing the performance changes of the two high-pressure pumps, a pump suitable for DME was selected and performance improvement measures were proposed. The changed experimental conditions to measure the performance change of the high pressure pump were increased in the units of 100 to 1,000 rpm and 100 rpm, and the experiment was performed at common rail pressures 300 and 400 bar. it was confirmed that the DME inside the fuel supply system remained in a liquid state through temperature sensors, pressure sensors, and pressure gauges. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the flow rate discharged from the high-pressure fuel pump increased as the motor rotational speed increased, and the flow rate of the high-pressure fuel pump

피에조 인젝터 커먼레일 시스템을 이용한 함산소연료의 분무특성에 관한 연구 (An Investigation on a Spray Characteristics of Oxygenated Fuel with a Piezo Injector Common Rail System)

  • To understand oxygenated fuel characteristics including spray penetration length and spray angle at a real engine ambient pressure condition, DME was injected into a high pressure chamber by a piezo injector common rail system. The piezo injector common rail system was able to apply steady injection pressure, rapid response, and accurate injection quantity. Injection and ambient pressure were varied to confirm a relation with spray form. Using a direct photographing technique, development process of DME spray was captured. DME injection quantity was enlarged linearly as increasing of the injection pressure. In the high pressure chamber, when the injection pressure was enlarged the penetration length and velocity were increased due to a big momentum of fuel particle at the same ambient pressure. When ambient pressure was increased, the DME spray penetration length and velocity were decreased since the high ambient density of nitrogen was acted as a resistance. Although the ambient pressure and injection pressure were varied, each case of spray angle was almost same since the spray angle had a connection of the injector nozzle geometry.

소구경 배관내 아이스슬러리의 유동형상 및 압력강하 특성에 관한 실험적 연구(2) (Experimental Study on Flow Patterns and Pressure Drop Characteristics of Ice Slurry in Small Size Pipe (2))

  • Pressure drop were experimentally investigated for ice slurry flowing in the acrylic pipes with inner diameter of 24 mm. Ice slurry was made from 6.5% ethylene glycol-water solution, and the pipes is consisted of horizontal, vertical (upward and downward) and $90^{\circ}$ elbow pipe. The ice Packing factor (IPF) and the flow rate of the experiments were varied from 0 to 30% and from 5 to 70kg/min respectively The measured pressure drop in various pipe positions were compared with those for the solution flow (IPF=0). The pressure drop was larder than that for solution flows as the IPF increased when the flow rate was low or very high. Sharp increases in pressure drop were observed for the cases when IPF is more than 70% in horizontal and vertical pipes, whereas the pressure drop increased with the IPF simultaneously in an elbow pipe.

수소의 폭발 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Explosion Characteristics of Hydrogen)

  • It was discussed about explosion danger of hydrogen gas experimentally that could be happen during the handling and using. Hydrogen concentration was varied from 10 to 60 vol% for get the explosion characteristics of hydrogen and 5 kinds of cylindrical vessel were used to find the explosion characteristics of hydrogen according to the vessel volume. Initial pressure of hydrogen-air mixture was varied from 0.6 to 2 kg/cm2. Based on the experiment, explosion pressure was most high near the 30vol% of hydrogen and explosion pressure was increased slightly according to the increase of vessel volume but explosion pressure rise rate was decreased. Explosion pressure was increased linearly proportional to the initial pressure of gas mixture.

Effect of Mixture Flow Rate on Emission Characteristics of Laminar Premixed CH4/Air Flame with Changing Combustor Pressure

  • To investigate emission characteristics of laminar premixed CH4/air flame, combustion experiments were conducted at three flow rates (5.3L/min, 10.6L/min, 15.5L/min) with changing the combustor pressure(-30Kpa-30Kpa). It was found that with increasing flow rate, NOx emission increased in high pressure condition, while decreased in low pressure condition; and the emission of CO decreased with increasing flow rate. For the influence of pressure, emission of NOx increased with increasing pressure regardless of flow rates, while CO emission decreased on the contrary.
