This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the trends in environmental research that utilize environmental geospatial information through text mining, one of the big data analysis technologies. The analysis was conducted on a total of 869 papers published in the Republic of Korea, which were collected from the National Digital Science Library (NDSL). On the basis of the classification scheme, the keywords extracted from the papers were recategorized into 10 environmental fields including "general environment", "climate", "air quality", and 20 environmental geospatial information fields including "satellite image", "numerical map", and "disaster". With the recategorized keywords, their frequency levels and time series changes in the collected papers were analyzed, as well as the association rules between keywords. First, the results of frequency analysis showed that "general environment"(40.85%) and "satellite image"(24.87%) had the highest frequency levels among environmental fields and environmental geospatial information fields, respectively. Second, the results of the time series analysis on environmental fields showed that the share of "climate" between 1996 and 2000 was high, but since 2001, that of "general environment" has increased. In terms of environmental geospatial information fields, the demand for "satellite image" was highest throughout the period analyzed, and its utilization share has also gradually increased. Third, a total of 80 correlation rules were generated for environmental fields and environmental geospatial information fields. Among environmental fields, "general environment" generated the highest number of correlation rules (17) with environmental geospatial information fields such as "satellite image" and "digital map".
Because it is easy to implement the scalar quantizer, it is used in various video coding systems. Although the scalar quantizer with a large quantization stepsize can reduce the amount of data, it has disadvantage that the reconstructed picture quality is poor. In this paper, we propose an efficient method which improves the coding performance by maintaining original quantization stepsize and increasing the number of quantization reconstruction levels. Simultaneously, for the purpose of solving the problem of transmitting the added symbol informations which is used to indicate the region of quantizer reconstruction level as the number of quantizer reconstruction level is increased, we also suggest the method to reduce the added informations. Therefore, for the intra-coded picture of H.264 video coding system, we generate the huffman codes for the symbol informations of quantization reconstruction regions by 4${\times}$4(horizontal 4 pixels, vertical pixels) block unit. Furthermore, for the inter-coded picture, we also generate the huffman codes for the symbol informations of quantization reconstruction regions by 8${\times}$8 blocks and 4${\times}$4 blocks within a macroblock. Adopting this method of reducing the added information by increasing the number of quantization reconstruction region, It is shown that the coding performance can be improved at the same bitrate.

Background: Ginsenoside compound-Mc1 (Mc1) is a member of the deglycosylated ginsenosides obtained from ginseng extract. Although several ginsenosides have a cardioprotective effect, this has not been demonstrated in ginsenoside Mc1. Methods: We treated H9c2 cells with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and ginsenoside Mc1 to evaluate the antioxidant effects of Mc1. The levels of antioxidant molecules, catalase, and superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) were measured, and cell viability was determined using the Bcl2-associated X protein (Bax):B-cell lymphoma-extra large ratio, a cytotoxicity assay, and flow cytometry. We generated mice with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity using ginsenoside Mc1 and assessed their heart tissues to evaluate the antioxidant effect and the fibrosis-reducing capability of ginsenoside Mc1. Results: Ginsenoside Mc1 significantly increased the level of phosphorylated AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in the H9c2 cells. The expression levels of catalase and SOD2 increased significantly after treatment with ginsenoside Mc1, resulting in a decrease in the production of H2O2-mediated reactive oxygen species. Treatment with ginsenoside Mc1 also significantly reduced the H2O2-mediated elevation of the Bax:Bcl2 ratio and the number of DNA-damaged cells, which was significantly attenuated by treatment with an AMPK inhibitor. Consistent with the in vitro data, ginsenoside Mc1 upregulated the levels of catalase and SOD2 and decreased the Bax:B-cell lymphoma-extra large ratio and caspase-3 activity in the heart tissues of HFD-induced obese mice, resulting in reduced collagen deposition. Conclusion: Ginsenoside Mc1 decreases oxidative stress and increases cell viability in H9c2 cells and the heart tissue isolated from HFD-fed mice via an AMPK-dependent mechanism, suggesting its potential as a novel therapeutic agent for oxidative stress-related cardiac diseases.

Background and objective: The nanobubbles remain stable in water, and it increased dissolved oxygen (DO) in the water that promotes the seed germination and the plant growth. We evaluated the seed germination and growth of sprouts (radish, wheat, and barley) and leafy vegetables (red mustard and pak choi) when irrigated with various DO of nanobubble water (NB). Methods: The oxygen NB was generated by surface friction and treated in 4 levels: NB 0% (control, DO 9.21 mg·L-1), NB 20% (DO 15.40 mg·L-1), NB 33% (DO 20.93 mg·L-1), and NB 100% (DO 39.29 mg·L-1). Results: The root length of radish and wheat increased more in NB 33% than the control plot. The fresh weight increased in NB 33% compared to the control plot in radish and wheat, and both fresh and dry weight increased more in NB 20%, NB 33%, and NB 100% than the control plot of barley. The leaf length and width of red mustard decreased more in NB 33% and NB 100% than the control plot and NB 20%, which indicated the leaf compactness. The fresh and dry weight of shoot and root increased more in NB 100% than the control plot in red mustard. In pak choi, the shoot fresh weight increased more in NB 100% than the control plot. In leafy vegetables, the germination rate of red mustard in NB 100% was higher than the control plot, however, it was not significantly different between oxygen NB plots in sprout vegetables. Conclusion: The results showed that the root growth and biomass increased after applying NB 33% in sprout vegetables. The leaf growth properties as the number of leaves and leaf size were not significantly different or decreased in NB treatments compared to control plots, but NB 100% (DO 39.29 mg·L-1) effectively increased the root growth and plant biomass in leafy vegetables.

We proposed more efficient encoding methods that can design a multi-channel multi-level phase only computer-generated hologram(CGH) that can reconstruct many objects simultaneously without a conjugate image. We used a fabrication technique for the pixel oriented CGH for designing the pattern of the proposed multi-channel CGH. We investigated the difference of the optical efficiency(η), mean square error(MSE) and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of multi-channel CGHs that were designed by three kinds of encoding methods according to the number of quantization phase levels, and we estimated the performance of the pattern of the proposed multi-channel CGH. Generally, as the number of input objects' reference patterns stored in the CGH is increased, the reconstruction quality of the CGH is degraded. But we observed through computer simulation that the diffraction efficiency of the 1-ch CGH is 70%, and those of the 2-ch, 4-ch, 8-ch CGHs are 62%, 62% and 63%. Therefore we found that the diffraction efficiencies of the multi-channel CGHs using the newly proposed encoding method are similar to that of 1-ch CGH. We implemented the CGH optically using a liquid crystal spatial light phase modulator that consisted of a PAL-SLM efficiently coupled with a XGA type LCD by an optical lens and an LD for illuminating the LCD. We discussed the output images that are reconstructed from the PAL-SLM.
Nanotoxicological research has shown toxicity of nanomaterials to be inversely related to particle size. However, the contribution of agglomeration to the toxicity of nanomaterials has not been sufficiently studied, although it is known that agglomeration is associated with increased nanomaterial size. In this study, we prepared aerosols of nano-sized carbon black by 2 different ways to verify the effects of agglomeration on the toxicity and deposition of nano-sized carbon black. The 2 methods of preparation included the carbon black dispersion method that facilitated clustering without sonication and the carbon black dispersion method involving sonication to achieve scattering and deagglomeration. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to carbon black aerosols 6 hr a day for 3 days or for 2 weeks. The median mass aerodynamic diameter of carbon black aerosols averaged $2.08{\mu}m$ (for aerosol prepared without sonication; group N) and $1.79{\mu}m$ (for aerosol prepared without sonication; group S). The average concentration of carbon black during the exposure period for group N and group S was $13.08{\pm}3.18mg/m^3$ and $13.67{\pm}3.54mg/m^3$, respectively, in the 3-day experiment. The average concentration during the 2-week experiment was $9.83{\pm}3.42mg/m^3$ and $9.08{\pm}4.49mg/m^3$ for group N and group S, respectively. The amount of carbon black deposition in the lungs was significantly higher in group S than in group N in both 3-day and 2-week experiments. The number of total cells, macrophages and polymorphonuclear leukocytes in the bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, and the number of total white blood cells and neutrophils in the blood in the 2-week experiment were significantly higher in group S than in normal control. However, differences were not found in the inflammatory cytokine levels (IL-$1{\beta}$, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, etc.) and protein indicators of cell damage (albumin and lactate dehydrogenase) in the BAL fluid of both group N and group S as compared to the normal control. In conclusion, carbon black aerosol generated by sonication possesses smaller nanoparticles that are deposited to a greater extent in the lungs than is aerosol formulated without sonication. Additionally, rats were narrowly more affected when exposed to carbon black aerosol generated by sonication as compared to that produced without sonication.

The industrial by-products market has increased at a geometric rate worldwide with the rapid economic growth. Among the wide variety of industrial by-products, fly ash which is generated by the combustion of coal is one of the more troublesome industrial wastes because they entail substantial disposal cost and also cause a shortage of disposal sites. In Korea alone, fly ash generation is expected to increase to 5.8 million tons by 2009, and to 6 million tons by 2010. Given the accelerated industrial development in developing countries, the amount of fly ash generation is predicted to reach enormous levels throughout the world. An increasing number of studies have currently focused on the feasibility of recycling industrial wastes i.e., fly ash in terms of environmental advantages. In this study, the optimized mix proportion of high performance shotcrete using fly ash was determined for the purpose of promoting recycling and reuse of resources.

Random numbers are used in many sorts of applications. Some applications, like simple software simulation tests, communication protocol verifications, cryptography verification and so forth, need various levels of randomness with various process speeds. In this paper, we propose a fast pseudorandom generator module for embedded systems. The generator module is implemented in hardware which can run in two modes, one of which can generate random numbers with higher randomness but which requires six cycles, the other providing its result within one cycle but with less randomness. An ASIP (Application Specific Instruction set Processor) was designed to implement the proposed pseudorandom generator instruction sets. We designed a processor based on the MIPS architecture,, by using LISA, and have run statistical tests passing the sequence of the Diehard test suite. The HDL models of the processor were generated using CoWare's Processor Designer and synthesized into the Dong-bu 0.18um CMOS cell library using the Synopsys Design Compiler. With the proposed pseudorandom generator module, random number generation performance was 239% faster than software model, but the area increased only 2.0% of the proposed ASIP.

Recently the passenger of railway satisfaction levels are lowered. the reason why the railway station was built without considering the increased passenger due to diversification(transfer, shopping, and etc.) of the domestic railway station infrastructure. Especially, in case of KTX Gwangju-Songjeong Station, the number of its passenger has been increased about more than three times since its opening in 2015, so that there are much inconvenience generated in the station congested with passengers. his study aims to excute using Pedestrian simulation and Design Hourly Factor concepts of Highway Engineering, in order to designing the optimum area through the passenger demand forecast for each station. For this analysis was divided into the second stage. Frist, the railway passenger was calculated by using the methodology of Design Hourly Factor that is used during road design in the aspect of traffic engineering. Second, we tried to analyze the level of service in each railway station facility through the pedestrian simulation. Analytical results show that utilizing pedestrian simulation provides verification for calculation of LOS of each railway station facility. Therefore, In the future when designing railway station of facilities will be possible to suggest the facilities area based on LOS.
This study aimed to examine the testis toxicities of metal compound, manganese (Mn), which may be generated as mist or fume in the industrial sites. As well as serum prolactin (PRL) concentration was analyzed because Mn accumulation in basal ganglia up-regulates serum PRL and hyperprolactinemia consecutively induces the testis toxicity. Male F344 rats were divided into the 4 groups (2 controls and 2 Mn treated groups, n=10) on the basis of the test condition (inhalation, Mn $1.5mg/m^3$ or not) and treatment period (for 4-weeks and 13-weeks). The treatment time was 6 hr. a day, 5 days a week for the whole body. Basic tests including changes in body weight, feed rate were observed. Blood and testis Mn concentration, and testis toxicity test such as the number and deformity test of sperm were also observed. Serum PRL level was analyzed by ELISA to certify the relationship between the Mn induced increase of the serum PRL level and sperm production. Blood and testis Mn concentrations were significantly and dose-dependently increased. Sperm count was decreased in Mn-treatment groups than control in a treatment time dependent manner. Morphological analysis of cauda epidydimal sperm showed that the frequencies of morphologically abnormal sperms such as bent tail and small head were increased in the both Mn-treatment groups than control. A significant increase in serum PRL levels was found in response to Mn treatment but it was not hyperprolactinemia range. These results suggest that treatment of Mn up-regulates the serum PRL concentration and induces the testis toxicity. The No Aversed Effect Level (NOAEL) of inhaled Mn on the male rat testis may be under the $1.5mg/m^3$.
