  • The success of a target of 'low-carbon green growth' depends on whether installing energy-saving capital would result in an increase in industry's productivity growth. Defining total factor productivity from a dual cost function, this paper estimates the contribution of energy efficiency investment to productivity growth by analyzing the sources of growth of productivity index for the primary metal industries. Empirical results show that, on average, energy efficiency investment increased the annual rate of productivity growth by 1.16 percentage points over th period 1982~2006. In addition, The scale effect positively affected the contribution of energy efficiency investment on productivity growth.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of arbitration in organizational performances by means of literature review. The contents of the study were theoretical studies on the role of intangible power in the organization. By mediating compliance and repulsion, it is intended to reduce conflicts and increase work commitment, which in turn will increase productivity and increase employee self-esteem, and help improve corporate image over the long term. Factors such as the contents of professional power, the content of referent power, the importance and contents of informational power as well as the importance of arbitration were studied. It is found that when arbitration is effective, it can increase work commitment and improve the productivity of the enterprise.

  • KORAIL continuously drives practical reforms of change and originality both internally and externally for the purpose of adapting to rapidly changing circumstance and promote productivity of the organization. Various management strategies are needed to increase its productivity, yet the fist thing to be considered is to select talented human resources. A selection of the human resource should be conducted based on 3R(Right People, Right Place, Right Time). This study empirically analyzes through actual study how the method of new employment introduced on January 1, 2005 positively affects capability and productivity of each member of KORAIL. The area of this study is defined centering on the standard of new employment, capability of personnel, and productivity of the organization. Also, the improvement of new employment standard of KORAIL is suggested as significance of the standard was verified through survey of the standard, the capability and the productivity conducted to KORAIL working personnel.

  • Consideration of factors driving crew productivities is imperative for accurate construction time estimation. Their impacts need to be well understood by estimators. There have been, however, little studies that quantified relationships between crew productivities and factors. This paper quantifies impacts of $^{\circ}A$ECrew size $^{\circ}\phi$ on crew productivities, for three highway concrete bridge activities, namely Column, Cap, and Deck, based on data compiled from 17 on-going highway projects in Texas State, USA. It was found that, for Bridge Deck operation, an increase of one crew-worker of formwork and rebarwork by one, leads to an increase of the productivity (cy/crew day) by 2.5 and 2.9, respectively. For the other activities, larger crew sizes did not lead to better crew productivities.

  • This study was conducted to increase the utility and productivity of forage crops at high altitued areas. For that purpose, 21 cultivars of corn and 2 cultivars of rye were cultivated for 3 years using a randomized block designed with 3 replications. The results obtained were as follows. 1. In the Taekwallyong area (800m above sea level) which has a short frostless period, all the seeding and harvest of corn must be finished within about 135 days between mid May, the time of the last frost, and late September, the time of the first frost 2. It was relatively safe for the early maturity cultivar(ll0days) and the medium maturity cultivar(l20days), compared to the late maturity cultivar(l30days) which might have had the possibility of an overlapping period between the time of harvest and the first frost in high altitude areas 3. The productivity of forage corn, which is the most efficient crop for capturing solar energy, varied significantly with the climate circumstances but the productivity of Taekwallyong showed similar results of 19 M/T/ha, compared with 20 M/T/ha in Suwon from the '96-'98 study 4. Rye could be cultivated in high altitude areas and when corn was raised as a second crop after rye in the same year, it was possible to increase the productivity of dry matter yield by 20% through double cropping(P < 0.05). • This study deals with the procedure of safety improvement, productivity increase ,and tact-time reduction through setting up the system about preventive maintenance. Actually, it is hard to establish and carry out preventive maintenance, even though we recognize the importance of the system concerning time, cost, labor, and so forth. In this study in the viewpoint of cost we are for achieving maximum efficiency by change and reduction of planning process adapted to the special work group. At first we briefly will mention the kind ,the necessity ,and the concept of preventive maintenance ,and then divide the equipment used in the assembly line into the two whether it is necessary or not by way of estimating the breakdown loss ,comparing with general establishment of preventive maintenance and modifying it to the case. At the second step we will establish the operation system of plan management related to production and quality in the special case. Check period and category will be set by dividing the assembly equipment into LCL and Focus in the third step. The forth step will contain the operation procedure in detail. And then we must make check and repair record periodically. Finally, on the basis of the record the selection of checking of significance will be conducted. This results in safety improvement, tact time reduction, and productivity improvement.

  • The productivity increase by technological advance is the biggest driving force of economic growth. In this paper, we investigate the inputs and outputs of the manufacturing and service industries in Korea. We also estimate the total and partial factor productivities of both industries using the Solow model and the Kendrick model. Finally, we analyze the contribution of each input factor to industrial growth.

  • To increase the volumetric productivity a contimuous cell-recycled system was implemented. Cell concentrations between 9.2 and 15.0 g/1 were obtatined in the continuous fermentor study. At a 4% xylose feed and a specific oxygen supply rate(SOSR) of 1.04 g O2.hr-g DCW the ethanol yield was 0.36% at dilution rate. This represented a 26-% increase over that of th batch fermentation.

  • Panel line is an important process occupying the largest work amount in shipbuilding. In this research product simulation has been carried out to establish the optimal production scheduling. For this purpose a web-based panel line simulator was developed using an object modeling technology and C# language. The balance of work-load and increase in the productivity by the improvement of production facilities and process are the key factors for a good scheduling. In this study SPRT(Shortest Remaining Process Time) rule was applied for the work-load balancing and a good result achieved. To increase the productivity in the stiffener welding stage which is a bottleneck; process, more welding heads and higher welding speed were tested using the developed simulator. The simulation results showed that either more welding head or higher welding speed decreased the total work time. Use of both, however, deteriorated the productivity because of the bottleneck in the following stage. This result points out that the improvement of production facilities and/or process should be evaluated with their influences on the leading and following processing stage.
