  • Low cost patch array antenna for high sensitivity electromagnetic(EM) sensor is presented. The operating frequency band of the antenna is 24.05~24.25 GHz. Array structure is the symmetrical pattern by Chebyshev polynomial and the feed point is located in the middle of the array. Also, the gain of the array antenna can be increased by the side wings which are connected with the ground plane. It is proved through simulation and the measurement results that the operating frequency and the side-lobe level(SLL) are rarely changed when the inclined angle of the side wings is varied.

  • In the study, the effect grinding condition on the workpiece arithmetical average roughness(Ra) to 10 steps leading to cutting each section with the spindle rotational speed 8000rpm and feed rate 150mm/min of grinding in GC(green silicon carbide) grinding processing after heat treatment and non heat treatment of SCM415 material. Also the following conclusions were obtained analysis of stress distribution displacement and finite elements method(FEM) on assemble parts with 3+2 axis simultaneous control through grinding and gave a load 11kg on ATC arm both sides gave a load of 11kg. For the centerline average roughness(Ra) in the heat and non-heat treatment work pieces, which were appeared the most favorable in the fifth section were $0.511{\mu}m$ and $0.514{\mu}m$, that were shown in the near the straight line section was the smallest deformation of curve. In addition, the bad surface roughness appeared on the path is too long by changing angle, the more inclined depth of cut, because the chip discharging is not smoothly.

  • Experiment and three dimensional numerical investigations of incompressible turbulent flow through square channels with one- and two-sided ribbed walls are performed to determine pressure drop and heat transfer. The CFX(version 5.7) software package is used for the computation. The ribbed walls have a $45^{\circ}$ inclined square rib. Uniform heat flux is maintained on whole inner heat transfer channel area. The numerical results coincide with experimental data that obtained for $7,600{\le}Re{\le}24.900$, the pitch-to-rib height ratio (p/e) of 8.0. and the rib height-to-channel hydraulic diameter ratio ($e/D_h$) of 0.0667. The results show that values of local heat transfer coefficient and friction factor in the channel with two-sided ribbed wall are higher than those in the channel with one-sided ribbed walls.

  • This paper presents a prediction and simulation method of tensile stress-strain curves of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC). For this purpose, the bridging stress and crack opening relations were obtained by the fiber bridging constitutive law which is quantitatively able to consider the fiber distribution characteristics. And then, a multi-linear model is employed for a simplification of the bridging stress and crack opening relation. In addition, to account the variability of material properties, randomly distributed properties drawn from a normal distribution with 95% confidence are assigned to each element which is determined on the basis of crack spacing. To consider the variation of crack spacing, randomly distributed crack spacing is drawn from the probability density function of fiber inclined angle calculated based on sectional image analysis. An equation for calculation of the crack spacing that takes into quantitative consideration the dimensions and fiber distribution was also derived. Subsequently, a series of simulations of ECC tensile stress-strain curves was performed. The simulation results exhibit obvious strain hardening behavior associated with multiple cracking, which correspond well with test results.

  • TMixed convective flow in a bottom heated and top cooled rectangular channel can be significantly affected by the channel aspect ratio, Prandtl number, Reynolds number, Rayleigh number and angle of inclination. In such a mixed convection, the flow pattern plays an important role in various technological processes. In this study, a numerical investigation is carried out to explore mixed convection in a three-dimensional rectangular channel with bottom heated and top cooled uniformly. The three-dimensional governing equations are discretized using the finite volume method. In the range of low Reynolds number($0{\leq}Re{\leq}9.6{\times}10^{-2}$), the effects of the aspect ratio($2{\leq}AR{\leq}12$) and Gr/Re are presented and discussed. The longitudinal roll number in the channel is increased with increasing aspect ratio, and the roll number induced, regardless of the aspect ratio number, is even in the range of aspect ratios between 2 and 12, New vortex flow structure containing inclined longitudinal rolls is found, which is affected by aspect ratio and Reynolds number. The ratio Gr/Re is used to check the relative magnitudes of forced and natural convection in the mixed convective flow of high viscous fluid.

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation to visualize cross-sectional two-phase flow structure and identify liquid-gas interface for condensation of steam at a low mass flux in a slightly inclined tube using the axial-viewing technique, which permits to look directly into flow during condensation of steam. In this technique, two-phase flow is viewed along the axis of a pipe by locating a high-speed video camera in front of a viewer that is fitted at the outlet of the pipe. A short section of the pipe is illuminated and is recorded through the viewer, which is kept free of liquid by mildly introducing air. Experiments were conducted in a pipe of 19.05 mm in inner diameter at atmospheric pressure. Cross-sectional two-phase flow structure is obtained at a steam mass flux of $2.62kg/m^2s$ as a function of steam quality in the range from 0.5 to 0.9. The results show that stratified-wavy flow is a unique flow pattern observed in the scope of the present study. Condensate film thickness, stratification angle and void fraction were measured from the obtained flow structure images. Finally, heat transfer coefficient was calculated using the measurement data and discussed in comparison with existing correlations.

  • In order to increase the lifetimes of cold forging dies, insert rings are generally used. In this study, an insert ring and shrunk ring of the flange upsetting die were designed for the cold forging of an automotive wheel nut. The Stress distribution occurring in the die during forging was simulated using a commercial finite element analyzing program. The effects of the fitting interference and inclined angle of the insert ring on the compressive stress of the die inside were also investigated. The simulated data were compared with the real lifetimes of the forging dies. The maximum compressive stress acting on the edge of a forging die should have the most influence on die lifetime, an idea which could help develop the die design with the longest lifetime. The design of the most optimal forging die with the longest lifetime is made possible by analyzing the maximum inner pressure and principal stress between the shrunk ring and insert ring.

  • The effect of geometry factors on the combined mode stress intensity factor behaviors of a slant crack in a non-uniform thickness material was analysed by 2-dimensional theoretical analysis. The analysis is based on the Laurent's series expansions of complex potentials where the complex coefficients of the series are determined from the compatibility and the equilibrium conditions of the thickness interface and the stress free conditions of the crack surface. In numerical calculations the perturbation technique is employed. The expressions for the crack tip stress intensity factor are given in the form of power series of dimensionless crack length $\lamda$, and the function of crack slant angle $\alpha$ and thickness ratio $\beta$. The results of numerical calculations for each problems are represented as the correction factors F($\lamda$, $\alpha$, $\beta$). The results clearly show the following characteristics : The correction factors of the combined mode stress intensity factors for a non-uniform thickness material can be defined in the form of F($\lamda$, $\alpha$, $\beta$). The stress intensity factor values for a given crack length are decreased with increase of thickness ratio $\beta$.

  • The reflection type photoelastic experiment can be used more effectively than the transparent type photoelastic experiment in industrial fields. However, the reflection type photoelastic experiment for orthotropic material has not been studied. Therefore, the reflection type photoelastic experimental hybrid method for the fracture mechanics of orthotropic material was developed in this research. Comparing the results obtained from this method with those from the hybrid method for isotropic material about the same isotropic specimen, the validity of this method was verified. And then, the reflection type photoelastic experiment for orthotropic material was applied to the orthotropic plates with a central crack of the various inclined angle. Using this hybrid method for the orthotropic material, it is able to obtain stress intensity factors and separate stress components at the vicinity of the crack-tip in orthotropic plates from only the isochromatic fringe patterns of isotropic coating material.
