Airplanes at constant speeds on inclined circular trajectories

  • The dynamical requirements are obtained for airplanes to travel on inclined circular trajectories. Formulas are provided for determining the load factor, the bank angle, the lift coefficient and the thrust or power required for the motion. The dynamical properties of the airplane are taken into account, for both, airplanes with internal combustion engines and propellers, and airplanes with jet engines. A procedure is presented for the construction of tables from which the flyability of trajectories at a given angle of inclination can be read, together with the corresponding minimum and maximum radii allowed. Sample calculations are shown for the Cessna 182, a Silver Fox like unmanned aerial vehicle, and a F-16 jet airplane.

경사진 벽부착 제트의 열전달 특성에 대한 연구 (An Investigation on Heat transfer Characteristics of Inclined Wall Attaching Offest jet)

  • Experiments have been conducted to determine heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimen-sional turbulent wall attaching offset jet at different oblique angles to a flat surface. The local Nusselt number distributions were measured using liquid crystal as a temperature sensor. Wall static pressure coefficient profiles were measured at the Reynolds number Re 53200(based on the nozzle width, D) the offset ratio H/D from 2.5 to 10 and the oblique angle a from $0^{\circ}$, to $40^{\circ}$ It is observed that the maximum Nusselt number point occurs slightly upstream of time-averaged reattachment point for all oblique angles. The correlations between the maximum Nusselt number and Reynolds number offset ration and oblique angle are presented.

경사 평판에 충돌하는 초음속 과소팽창 제트에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Supersonic Underexpanded Jet Impinging on an Inclined Plate)

  • 고체 물체 표면이나 지표면에 초음속 제트가 충돌할 때 발생되는 문제들은 다단 로켓의 분리, 우주공간에서의 도킹, 수직 이/착륙기, 제트 엔진의 배기가스, 가스터빈 블레이드, 지상 로켓 발사 등의 다양한 상황에서 일어나며 이러한 충돌제트의 유동은 아음속과 초음속 혼합영역, 충격파가 교차하는 영역, 팽창파, 난류 전단층 등의 매우 복잡한 구조를 이루고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 출구마하수 2, 축소-확대형 초음속 노즐을 통해 과소 팽창된 제트가 수직, 경사평판에 부딪힐 때 형성되는 표면압력분포 및 유동가시화 등을 초음속 유동시험장치를 이용하여 연구하였다. 평판에서의 최대압력은 수직일 경우보다 경사졌을 때 훨씬 더 컸으며, 이는 여러 충격파를 통한 압력 회복 때문이다. 또한, 평판이 자유제트의 첫 번째 충격파 셀 내에 위치할 때 과소 팽창비에 따른 표면압력분포는 서로 유사한 경향을 보여주었다.

$k-{\varepsilon}-\bar{\upsilon{'}^2}$모델을 이용한 경사진 충돌제트의 유동 및 열전달 특성에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics for an Oblique Impingement Jet Using $k-{\varepsilon}-\bar{\upsilon{'}^2}$ Model)

  • The numerical simulation has been conducted for the investigation of flow and heat transfer characteristics of an oblique impingement jet injected to a flat plate. The finite volume method was used to discretize the governing equations based on the non-orthogonal coordinate with non-staggered variable arrangement. The $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$-ν(sup)'2 turbulence model was employed to consider the consider the anisotropic flow characteristics generated by the impingement jet flow. The predicted results were compared with the experimental data and those of the standard $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. The results of the $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$-ν(sup)'2 model showed better agreement with the experimental data than those of the standard $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ model. In order to get the optimum condition, the flow and temperature fields were calculated with a variation of inclined angle($\alpha$=30$^{\circ}$~90$^{\circ}$) and the distance between the jet exit and impingement plate-to-diameter (L/D=4~10) at a fixed Reynolds number(Re=20,000). For a small L/D, the near-peak Nusselt numbers were not significantly effected by the inclined angle. The near-peak Nusselt numbers were not significantly affected by the L/D in the case of a large $\alpha$. The overall shape of the local Nusselt numbers was influenced by both the jet orifice-to-plate spacing and the jet angle.

  • The study analyzed the topics and the types of the selected articles from the 20-year-old Journal of Educational Technology(JET), flagship journal of the Korean Society of Educational Technology. Further the results were compared with those of the Educational Technology Research & Development journal. Results indicate that the JET has grown in terms of quantity and quality since its birth 20 years ago. The JET seems to be independent as a young adult. Some issues and concerns were also identified: The articles of the JET are more inclined to Experimental design in terms of research type, and to Design in terms of research topic. Balance across Types and Topics needs be kept for long-term, healthier growth. The emergence of e-Learning and high technology of Korea offered opportunities to the field. However, the monopoly of e-Learning that consumes most of the limited space of the JET raises a red flag. More balanced and quality-oriented endeavors were suggested for another 20 years coming.

초음속 충돌제트의 유동특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Flow Characteristics of a Supersonic Impinging Jet)

  • 초음속 부족팽창제트가 충돌할 때 유동장은 매우 복잡한 유동구조를 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는 음속노즐 출구 직경의 1.5배 거리에 경사각 $60^{\cire}$~$90^{\cire}$로 설치된 평판에 미치는 초음속 제트에 대해 쉴릴렌 장치를 이용하여 유동구조를 가시화 하였으며, 평판 위에 작용하는 압력분포를 측정하였고 감열지를 이용하여 평판 표면 유동을 가시화하여 기존의 연구결과와 비교하였다. 연구결과 간단한 방법으로 저마하수에서의 평판 유동을 가시화 할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 충돌제트의 유동구조를 규명하였다.

  • In this paper, we present a design, analysis, fabrication and performance test of the novel DoD metal-jet system for application to the high-density and high-temperature-melting materials. Based on the theoretical analysis, we design the metal-jet print head system and fabricate the metal-jet system, which can eject the droplet of lead-free metal solder in the high-temperature. In the experimental test, we set up the test apparatus for visualization of the droplet ejection and measure the Ejected droplet volume and velocity. As a result, the diameter, volume and the velocity of the ejected droplet are about $65-70{\mu}m$, 145-180 pl and 4m/sec. We also fabricate vertical and inclined 3D micro column structures using the present molten metal inkjet system. The measured geometries of the micro column structures are about height of $2,100{\mu}m$, diameter of $200{\mu}m$ and aspect ratio of 10.5 for vertical micro column and $1,400{\mu}m$ of height and $150{\mu}m$ of diameter for $65^{\circ}$-inclined micro column, respectively.

  • The supersonic combustion experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Different shock tube fill pressures have various inflow conditions. $15^{\circ}$ inclined hydrogen fuel injection is located before the cavity. Oblique shock is generated from the cavity and reflects off the top and bottom wall. For non-reacting flow, fuel makes the shear layer thicker above the cavity therefore, the shock is generated just before the trailing edge. This research has self-ignition in the combustor. For reacting flow, as the equivalence ratio increases, flame starts to generate near the injector or occur in the recirculation zone before the injector. High fuel injection sustains the jet shape in the cross flow and air can mix with fuel along the shear layer. Therefore, two flame layers find above the cavity for high equivalence ratio.

오목표면에 분사되는 경사충돌제트의 난류열전달 현상에 관한 연구 (Turbulent Heat Transfer of an Oblique Impinging Jet on a Concave Surface)

  • The turbulent heat transfer from a round oblique impinging jet on a concave surface were experimentally investigated. The transient measurement method using liquid crystal was used in this study. In this measurement, a preheated wall was suddenly exposed to an impinging jet while recording the response of liquid crystals to measure surface temperature. The Reynolds numbers were 11000, 23000 and 50000, nozzle-to-surface distance ratio was from 2 to 10 and the surface angles were a =$0^{\circ}\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}and\;40^{\circ}$. Correlations of the stagnation point Nusselt numbers with Reynolds number, jet-to-surface distance ratio and dimensionless surface angle, which account for the surface inclined angle, are presented. The maximum Nusselt numbers, in this experiment, occurred in the direction of upstream. The displacement of the maximum Nusselt number from the stagnation point increases with increasing surface angle or decreasing nozzle-to-surface distance. In this experiment, the maximum displacement is about 0.7 times of the jet nozzle diameter when surface curvature, D/d is 10.
