  • Press accidents are one of the most popular industrial accidents. Two factors are considered to lead to press accidents, one is human, the other press machine itself. Accident itself is analyzed and concluded to be due to incomplete interaction between press and human. A press design considering safety as a methodology is introduced to reduce the industrial accidents by press machine, that is micro-inching locking system.

Follow Up Study of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Patients Underwent Partial Release of Transverse Carpal Ligament Using Inching Test (인칭검사를 이용하여 부분 절개를 시행한 수근관 증후군 환자의 추적관찰)

  • Purpose: Complete release of the transverse carpal ligament (TCL) is accepted as the standard treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). However, loss of grip and pinch power are reported in some patients after complete release of the TCL. This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of complete versus partial carpal tunnel release by using the inching technique. Methods: Nineteen patients (a total of 27 hands) who each had a confirmed diagnosis of CTS were selected from September 2002 to February 2003. The cases were divided into three groups(mild, moderate and severe) based on preoperative electrodiagnostic studies. The patients with partial carpal tunnel syndrome were classified into the mild or moderate groups, while patients with complete carpal tunnel syndrome were classified into the moderate or severe groups. Patient oriented data (functional and symptomatic) were collected and electrophysiologic studies were undertaken preoperatively and postoperatively(on the 2nd week, 1st month, 3rd month and 6th month after surgery).Results: In this study, the mild and moderate groups showed both good functional and symptomatic results and improvements in electrophysiologic studies.Conclusion: Carpal tunnel syndrome patients classified into mild or moderate groups based on nerve conduction studies, and whose precise compression sites were pinpointed using the inching technique, can be treated by partial carpal tunnel release.

Simulation using bond graphs for a hydraulic system driving large rotational inertia

  • The process and results of computer simulation using bond graphs for a hydraulic system driving large rotational inertia are presented in this paper. As the large rotational inertia and its application characteristics, control criteria of this system is not position-control nor velocity-control but appropriate acceleration, deceleration and inching ability. All the components' nonlinear characteristics are modelled using bond graphs. The equationing and solution process is carried out by a package. Finally it is concluded that modelling of this kind of system by bond graphs and using a software as its solver shows good approximated results to actual experimental data, and that the proposed modelling may be useful to actual design process for this kind of hydraulic system.

  • Most of tall apartment buildings constructed in our county are wall-type R/C structures composed of hear walls and slabs. It is necessary to evaluate of hysteretic properties of shear walls in wall-type R/C structures which resist lateral loads as well as axial loads. In this study, first to evaluate the wall's hysteretic behavior nonlinear analyses with IDARC 4.0 are performed for eight specimens subjected to horizontal load reversals. As a result of nonlinear analyses of specimens we can obtain three parameters which determined the hysteretic parameters such as stiffness degrading, strength deterioration and inching behavior respectively. With this three parameters, strength and deformation capacity of 5, 10, 20-story shear wall of apartment building is estimated from the results of push-over analysis.

Damages of etched BST fins by high density plasmas (고밀도 플라즈마에 의한 BST 박막의 damage에 관한 연구)

  • High dielectric (Ba,Sr)TiO$_3$thin films were etched in an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) as a function of C1$_2$/Ar gas mixing ratio. Under Cl$_2$(20)/Ar(80), the maximum etch rate of the BST films was 400$\AA$/min and selectivities of BST to Pt and PR were obtained 0.4 and 0.2, respectively. We investigated the etched surface of BST by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). From the result of XPS analysis, we found that residues of Ba-Cl and Ti-Cl bonds remained on the surface of the etched BST for high boiling point. The surface roughness decreased as Cl$_2$increases in C1$_2$/Ar plasma because of non-volatile etching products. This changed the nature of the crystallinity of BST. From the result of XRD analysis, the crystallinity of etched BST film maintained as similar to as-deposited BST under Ar only and Cl$_2$(20)/Ar(80). However, (100) orientation intensity of etched BST film abruptly decreased at Cl$_2$only plasma. It was caused that Cl compounds were redeposited on the etched BST surface and damaged to crystallinity of BST film during the etch process.

  • This paper is a study on the pedal placement and driving position of forklift according to the various body dimensions. Comfortable driving position were measured angles of joint(ankle, knee, hip) by Goniometer. From SIP(seat index point) to basis of pedals were measured about X and Y axises. In addition, Z axises were gauged between floor and pedals. In this paper, The 27 male subjects with no experience in driving forklift were measured in the test in order to exclusion of learning effect. Therefore the subjects have a preference for pedal location to the body dimensions, if as long as their body dimensions was very long, they would required each pedal's location of Y axis to increase. However, driving position is no influence. The pedal location of X and Z axises weren't related with various body dimensions and subjects have symmetrical location to the pedals of inching and break and hight of brake pedal is lower than the others. They hope that brake pedal is lower than others.

  • 전자기 접촉기(electromagnetic contactor)는 교류 또는 직류 저압의 전로(電路)에 사용되는 부하개폐기의 한 종류로 전자석 코일(electromagnet coil)의 여자(勵磁)에 의하여 주 접촉자를 개폐시키는 기기이다. 일반적으로 전자기 접촉기는 단락전류를 차단하도록 설계되어 있지는 않다. 그러므로 설치 시 적절한 단락 보호가 이루어져야 하며, 반드시 접촉기의 일부분일 필요는 없다. 차단기와 퓨즈 등을 단락보호장치(SCPD, Short-Circuit Protective Device)로 많이 사용한다. 전자기 접촉기는 특히 고빈도 개폐를 목적으로 사용되는 개폐기로, 농형모터(squirrel-cage motors)의 시동, 운전 중의 정지, 플러깅(plugging, 모터가 운전하고 있는 중에 모터의 1차측 접속을 역으로 바꿔서 모터를 급격히 정지시키거나 역 회전시키는 것) 및 인칭(inching, 모터를 짧은 기간 동안 1회 또는 반복 여자해서 피동기구를 조금 이동시키는 것)에 많이 쓰인다. 이러한 기기의 개폐특성을 평가하기 위한 부하는 과도회복 전압의 진동 주파수(oscillatory frequency)와 진폭율 ${\gamma}$를 얻을 수 있도록 조정되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 고빈도 개폐능력을 갖고 있는 전자기 접촉기의 과도회복 전압 특성과 그 특성을 얻기 위한 부하 회로의 조정방법에 대해 고찰하였다.
