  • This study is concerned with the loading problems in flexible manufacturing system(FMS). The loading problem in FMS is a complex one, when the number of machine and job is increased. It may be time-consuming and even impossible to achieve an optimal solution about this problem mathematically. Thus, a heuristic method is recommended in order to gain near-optimal solutions in a practically acceptable time. A new loading algorithm is developed with a multi-criterion objective of considering the workload unbalance, and maximizing the machine utilization, throughput for critical resources such as the number of tool slots and the number of working hours in a scheduling period and so on. The results of SAS analysis indicated that true average throughput of proposed heuristic loading statistically exceeds that of Shanker and Srinivasulus loading algorithm at the significance level of 0.1.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to detect the correlations and the main factors influencing depression, life satisfaction, burden, defenition of suffering, meaning of life, and suffering. Method: The samples were composed of 160 cancer patients who were or outpatients of four hospitals in Seoul. The reliability of the 6 instruments was tested with Cronbach's alpha which ranged from .62 to .90. The data was analyzed using a SAS program for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The results were as follows: 1. The scores on the suffering scale ranged from 132 to 40 with a mean of 87.3 (SD 17.5). 2. There were significant correlations between all the predictive variables and even the amounts of suffering (r=.27-.84, p〈.05). 3. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that depression was the main predictor of suffering, and accounted for 71.6% of the variance. In addition burden accounted for 4.6% of the variance in suffering. The two variables combined to account for 76.2% of the variance in suffering. Conclusion: In conclusion and depression, burden were identified as important variables in explaining the suffering of patients with cancer.

  • The purpose of this study was not only to identify real-life conditions of Korean-Chinese in Korea(clothing habits, eating habits, housing habits, economic life and leisure activities) but also to reveal the related variables that shall affect life quality. The subjects were selected from Korean-Chinese in Korea related to ‘Compatriots House’. The survey was conducted from June 20th to July 5th, 2000. A total of 225 questionnaires out of 350 were used as the final data analysis. All data were analyzed using the SAS/PC for frequency, percentage, F-test and Regression analysis. The study revealed the following results. 1. Significant differences were found in life quality of Korean-Chinese in Korea according to age(p<.05), optimum income (p<.001), health condition(p<.001), education level(p<.005), and entry motivation(p<.05). 2. Variable such as optimum income(β=.334) education level(β=-.190), monthly income(β=.170), health condition(β=.151), and self-esteem(β=.133) affected life quality of Korean-Chinese in Korea. Korean-Chinese’s life quality was explained by these variable(35%). The optimum income variable was the primary influential factor.

  • This study examines a multivariate model of the effect of life events and transitions, intrafamily strain, marital adjustment, and appraisal on family well-being across the family system types. Data from 356 families were analysed SAS program. The result show that life events had no direct on family well-being but they intensified intrafamily strain. Family strain, in turn, negatively affected marital adjustment in flexible-connected families and structured-seperated families and perceived well-being in flexible-seperared, flexible-connected and structured-seperated families. marital adjustment were positively related to well-being in flexible-connected families. In flexible-connected families, marital adjustment seems to buffer the effect of intrafamily stain on well-being. The result also suggested that a combination of cohesion and adaptability level may explain differencies in the family's response to de4mands.

The way of sorting consumer problems in internet commerce from this study. For this empirical analysis, the data was collected 319 consumers by internet on-line survey from Feb. 13 to Feb. 20, 2000. The methods for study was frequency, percentage, mean, correlation, multiple regression using SAS PC program. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The level of consumer problem experiences in internet commerce was examined. The problems of privacy was the most problem and the problem of price was the second. Then delivery, advertisement, information was next, and the problem of quality, and A/S, change, cancel was the next consumer problem. 2. Among factors influence on experience consumer problem in internet commerce, the amount of usable money, information search were significant.

The survey was conducted on 130 individuals who were working in hotels in Seoul. With collected data, regression analysts, T-Test and analysis of variances were utilized using SAS program. The results showed that there were no evidences of sexual discrimination among tile individuals' educational levels and the departments. Whereas, there were evidences of sexual discrimination, sexual harassment. discrimination against employment, and workload among the position levels within a corporation. Finally. the analysis showed that there were sexual discrimination in a promotion policy. retirement policy. workload. and employment during employment period. However, there were no evidences of sexual discrimination in ether areas.

  • In the midst of dynamic industrial changes, companies need data analysis considering the effects of integration of various technologies in order to establish innovative R & D strategies. However, the existing technology forecasting model evaluates individual technologies without considering relationship among them. To improve this problem, this study suggests a new methodology reflecting the integration of technologies. In the study, a technology forecasting indicator was developed using the technology integration index based on social network analysis. In order to verify the validity of the proposed methodology, 'drone task performance technology' based on patent data was applied to the research model. This study aimed to establish a theoretical basis to design a research model that reflects the degree of integration of technologies when conducting technology forecasting research. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it quantitatively verified the proposed methodology using actual patent data.

  • It is proposed in this paper to develop the rational mix design system of High-strength concrete which is adjusted in the domestic circumstances. 1) Collect a lots of data in order to introduce the optimum mix design which has relation among material variables which compose High-strength concrete and run by using SAS (Statistical analysis system) which is one of multivariate statistical analysis method. 2) Select the important material variables for mix design of High-strength concrete by major component analysis and propose the standard range of each material variable along the target strengths. From the results of this study, it was proposed the range of proper material variables in domestic circumstance, which are W/C, S/A, air and admixture amounts, etc, at the target strengths for concrete kind. Also it was developed the optimum mix design program of High-strength concrete according to target strength and size of aggregate and made mix design ease in domestic construction site.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the wife and husband role division in household financial management between dual-income household and single-income household. Household financial management included the following five categories: financial planning, consumption/expenditure management, savings/investment management, risk management and credit management. Data for this research was collected through 610 married women living in Seoul, Korea. Using SAS-PC program, Chi-square and t-test Analyses were executed. The results showed that dual- and single-income households tend to have different perspectives on marital role division in household management. Wives of dual-income households had more significant roles in financial management rather than wives of single income households. Especially, wives of dual-income managed more active credit management and saving/investment management. On the other hand, wives of single-income households played a major role in making decision over cheap items than that of wives of dual-income household.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate consumers preference and dissatisfied factors in knitted golf wear The 430 questionnaires were sent to consumers who live in the Seoul Metropolitan district including Pundang-city and Iisan-city, The return rate was 89.5%. Statistical devices were t-test, ANOVA, $X$2. frequency with SAS program. The results of this study were as follows: First, Preferred colors were pastel, straw yellow, and black in descending order. Preferred coordination was analogous rather than complementary coordination. The classical look with T-neck, pullover, and V-neck was preferred. The preferred materials were pure cotton and cotton/wool blend in solid colors or plain and intasia structure. There were significant differences that pure cotton was preferred the forties and fifties or housewife, and cotton blend was preferred the thirties or service jobholders. Second, dissatisfied factors were pilling, deformation and de-coloration. The pilling problem was indicated in all income levels. Customers complained about no exchange and no refund policy with sales persons'discourtesy and time delay for repairing.
