  • In this study, we analyzed the soil salinity of Saemangeum agricultural land using GIS spatial interpolation method. Dominant soils series of experimental sites were Munpo (coarseloamy, mixed, non-acid, mesic, typically fluvaquents), which was based on the fluvio-marine deposit. Soil samples were periodically collected at 0~20cm and 20~40cm layer from each site. First, the distribution characteristics of EC, ESP, and SAR according to spatial interpolation were analyzed using 142 sample points. Through the error analysis of 143 validation points, the IDW method for EC and SAR, and the Kriging interpolation method for ESP were selected as the optimal interpolation method. Using the optimal interpolation method, the characteristics of EC, ESP, and SAR were analyzed for the change of soil salinity from 2014 to 2016. As a result, EC, ESP and SAR were decreased by 0.26mg/L, 5.97mg/L and 0.73mg/L respectively due to the dilution effect caused by rainfall.

  • In order to retrieve ocean wind from SAR() image, and to estimate and validate between SAR-derived wind and in-situ wind, with RADAR SAR ocean images and real time marine meteorological data. It was used images with more than 10km to analyze the band of wind in SAR image by FFT(First Fourier Transformation) method and was used CMOD5 as wind retrieval model to retrieve ocean wind. In this study, generally it showed good results as RMS presented 0.8m/s for speed and 8 degree for direction, and especially when wind was hish speed, it presented very good results.

  • In this paper, the typical Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image quality parameters and analysis method are defined, and the SAR image analysis tool is presented for SAR image evaluation. The structure of the developed SAR image analysis tool consists of four key modules; point target analysis (PTA) module, distributed target analysis (DTA) module, ambiguity analysis (AMA) module, and NESZ analysis (NESZA) module. The developed tool is able to extract the various SAR system parameters from standard SAR product format files. Based on these extracted system parameters, typical SAR image quality parameters are derived from SAR image data.

  • This paper presents Inverse SAR imaging algorithm for a unknown velocity target and a real ISAR data is processed and applied to the algorithm. The real ISAR data is obtained by transmitting a number of pulse modulated by a stepped-frequency method and the received data are undersampled. We present a method applicable for the case of a undersampled data base. In this method, the original echoed signal is mixed with a reference signal to make it unaliased, followed by being interpolated. Target`s velocity required for the algorithm is estimated via subaperture processing and after the coordinate transformation into squint-mode SAR with the estimated velocity, a recently proposed SAR/ISAR imaging algorithm derived without any approximation is utilized to produce the output image. We also propose an ISAR image scheme that is usable when a target changes its velocity during ISAR data acquisition time.

  • It is essential design process to analyze processing load and set up top level software and hardware mapping using main parameters before implementation of the SAR processor. This paper identifies the requirements upon the software and hardware mapping to be assessed and suggests its practical method to the SAR processor. Also, simulation is performed to the E-SAR processor to examine the practicability of the method and the results are discussed. Thus, this method can be applied to the SAR processor.

  • SAR imagery can overcome the limitations of electro-optical sensor imagery and provide us Information which plays a supplementary role. But it is necessary to remove a variety of geometric errors in SAR imagery. An accurate geometric correction of SAR imagery is not easy task to achieve, though some techniques and theories are introduced. We also have difficulties such as transformation problem between 'International' ellipsoid in Radarsat system and 'Bessel' ellipsoid. Two widely used correction method, one is made by simulated image, and the other by collinearity equation, usually use DEM. In this study, the merits and demerits of geocoding methods respectively and the effective method for Korean terrain were found.

  • The existing vessel monitoring system using the ground surveillance radar has a difficulty in monitoring ships continuously due to the limited range of detecting ships. For resolving this problem, we carry out a research on ship detection which is to be the core technology of vessel monitoring system for ocean monitoring using SAR imagery. There are two different methods of detecting ships in SAR imagery: detection of the ship target itself and detection of the ship wake. In this paper, we mainly focus on algorithms which detect the ship itself, and also present the accuracy test after extracting positional and directional figures of the ships. After rectifying input SAR imagery using polynomial transformation, we use Wiener filter to remove speckle noises. A labeling technique and morphological filtering in conjunction with Otsu's method are used to automatically detect the ships based on the image processing domain. For ground truth data, information from a radar system is used, which allows assessing the accuracy of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method has the high potential in automatically detecting the ships and its positional/directional figures in a fast way.

  • Significant research has been conducted on the W-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system that utilizes the 77 GHz frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) radar. To reconstruct the high-resolution W-band SAR image, it is necessary to transform the point cloud acquired from the stereo cameras or the LiDAR in the direction of 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) and apply them to the SAR signal processing. However, there are difficulties in matching images due to the different geometric structures of images acquired from different sensors. In this study, we present the method to extract an optimized depth map by obtaining 6 DOF of the point cloud using a gradient descent method based on the entropy of the SAR image. An experiment was conducted to reconstruct a tree, which is a major road environment object, using the constructed W-band SAR system. The SAR image, reconstructed using the entropy-based gradient descent method, showed a decrease of 53.2828 in mean square error and an increase of 0.5529 in the structural similarity index, compared to SAR images reconstructed from radar coordinates.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to consider SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) at beginning stage of handsets development. First, simulation was carried out with changing folding angle from 150$^{\circ}$to 142$^{\circ}$. Simulation results show that SAR value is decreased with decreasing the folding angle. When folding angle is 142$^{\circ}$, error between simulation and measurement results is about 3.95 %. Second, we made some experiments with EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) paint, and its results show that different pattern of EMI paint have different SAR values. After removing EMI paint at the lower part of antenna feeding point, we got the decrease efficiency of 15.46 % for SAR value. When we applied zigzag painting pattern, we got the highest SAR decrease efficiency.

  • It is not easy to identify a ground control point (GCP) or even locate its vicinity from a SAR image. Although simulated SAR images may be useful to interpret mountain areas, they are not useful in flat areas because they do not show ground coverage or key features such as rivers, lakes and roads. In this study, we developed a method to simulate SAR images integrating geographical features to DEM to facilitate to locate ground control features from SAR images.
