  • Digital transformation is driving so many changes in daily life and industry. The automobile industry is in a similar situation. In some cases, element techniques in areas called metabuses are also being adopted, such as 3D animated digital cockpit, around view, and voice AI, etc. Through the growth of the mobile market, the norm of human-computer interaction (HCI) has been evolving from keyboard-mouse interaction to touch screen. The core area was the graphical user interface (GUI), and recently, the audio user interface (AUI) has partially replaced the GUI. Since it is easy to access and intuitive to the user, it is quickly becoming a common area of the in-vehicle experience (IVE), especially. The benefits of a AUI are freeing the driver's eyes and hands, using fewer screens, lower interaction costs, more emotional and personal, effective for people with low vision. Nevertheless, when and where to apply a GUI or AUI are actually different approaches because some information is easier to process as we see it. In other cases, there is potential that AUI is more suitable. This is a study on a proposal to actively apply a AUI in the near future based on the context of various scenes occurring to improve IVE.

A Study on the Satellite Launch Vehicle Separation Detection Interface to Improve the Reliability of the Launch and Early Operation Phase

  • The launch vehicle (LV) separation detection interface of the satellite, which is designed to initiate the launch and early operation phase (LEOP) for S-band data transmission and the solar array deployment after the LV separation, is one of the hazard items at the launch site. Therefore, this interface should satisfy the single-fault tolerance requirement for the range safety. In this paper, we discuss the LV separation detection interfaces for two different satellite launch configurations and propose a method to guarantee for the satellite to start the LEOP even under the emergency case such as a partial separation from the LV. Furthermore, the proposed method meets the range safety requirement of the launch site. As this method only changes the external harness configuration of the satellite, it increases the reliability of the satellite early operation without any modification of the existing internal logics to detect the separation event.

  • There has been recent interest in intelligent vehicle technologies, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) or in-vehicle information systems (IVISs) that offer a significant enhancement of safety and convenience to drivers and passengers. However, unsuitable design of HMI (Human Machine Interface) must increase driver distraction and workload, which in turn increase the chance of traffic accidents. Distraction in particular often occurs under a heavy driving workload due to multitasking with various electronic devices like a cell phone or a navigation system while driving. According to the 2005 road traffic accidents in Korea report published by the ROad Traffic Authority (ROTA), more than 60% of the traffic accidents are related to driver error caused by distraction. This paper suggests the structure of vehicle environment for real-time driving behavior monitoring system while driving which is can be used the driver workload management systems (DWMS). On-road experiment results showed the feasibility of the suggested vehicle environment for driving behavior monitoring system.

  • 차량 내부의 다양한 전자장치를 연결하는 차량 내 통신(IVN: in-vehicle network)은 실시간성, 저잡음성, 고신뢰성, 고유연성 등이 필요하며 CAN(controller area network), CAN-FD(CAN flexible data rate), FlexRay, LIN(local interconnect network), SENT(single edge nibble transmission), PSI5(peripheral sensor interface 5) 등 다양한 기술이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이들 기술의 동작 원리에 대해 살펴보고 각 기술의 적용 대상과 장단점에 대해 설명한다.

  • 본 논문은 멀티미디어 서비스를 지원하는 다인승 차량 내 HMI(Human Machine Interface)을 지원하는 네트워크 구조 및 구현방법에 관한 것이다. 다인승 차량의 경우, 기존 승용차의 멀티미디어 서비스형태와 달리 트래픽에 대한 요소를 고려해야하며, 서버에서 업데이트되는 콘텐츠 정보를 다수의 사용자에게 동시에 전달해야하는 특성이 있으며, 사용자가 네트워크에 접속하여 다양한 콘텐츠를 사용할 수 있는 확장성이 있어야한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존 차량용 광 네트워크 MOST(Media Oriented System Transport) 시스템 구조를 변경하여 MOST와 연동되는 이더넷 기능을 개발하고 사용자 접근할 수 있는 인터페이스를 설계하여 다인승 차량용 멀티디미어 서비스에 필요한 데이터송수신 모듈 설계 방법을 제안한다.

Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D Graphics.
