Sampled-Data Modeling and Dynamic Behavior Analysis of Peak Current-Mode Controlled Flyback Converter with Ramp Compensation

  • The flyback converter, which can be regarded as a nonlinear time-varying system, has complex dynamics and nonlinear behaviors. These phenomena can affect the stability of the converter. To simplify the modeling process and retain the information of the output capacitor branch, a special sampled-data model of a peak current-mode (PCM) controlled flyback converter is established in this paper. Based on this, its dynamic behaviors are analyzed, which provides guidance for designing the circuit parameters of the converter. With the critical stability boundary equation derived by a Jacobian matrix, the stable operation range with a varied output capacitor, proportional coefficient of error the amplifier, input voltage, reference voltage and slope of the compensation ramp of a PCM controlled flyback converter are investigated in detail. Research results show that the duty ratio should be less than 0.5 for a PCM controlled flyback converter without ramp compensation to operate in a stable state. The stability regions in the parameter space between the output capacitor and the proportional coefficient of the error amplifier are enlarged by increasing the input voltage or by decreasing the reference voltage. Furthermore, the ramp compensation also can extend to the stable region. Finally, time-domain simulations and experimental results are presented to verify the theoretical analysis results.

  • The reason of train location detection is generally the train interval control between the railway stations and the train path control in the railway station yard in order to avoid train collision. It is very important to know the train location for shortening the train headway, and improving the efficiency of railway maintenance as well as the safe operation of trains. Therefore, the accurate detection of train location is the prerequisite technology in railway signalling system. The track circuit and the wheel sensor of rolling stock have been used to detect the train location widely in urban railway as well as high speed train. The track circuit is continuously monitored by electrical equipment to detect the absence of the train and the tachometer and encoder is used for the wheel sensor to measure the train speed. But speed sensor failures are frequent due to the extremely harsh operating conditions encountered in rail vehicle. The CBTC(Communication based Train Control) system has been used in urban railway system recently. But the installation of CBTC system is very high and the modification of design is difficult. This paper deals with the feasibility of new train location detection method using magnetic sensors.

  • 자동차 환경에서의 음성인식은 잡음처리가 매우 중요한 요소이다. 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어로 적인 접근방법으로 많은 연구가 되어 지고 있다. 하드웨어적인 방법으로는 Low-pass filter를 기본으로한 잡음처리 필터가 많이 연구되어 가시적인 성과를 보이고 있고, 소프트웨어적으로는 Noise canceler, 신경망 등 패턴인식 알고리듬의 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 시계열 패턴인식에 적용 가능한 알고리듬인 DTW(Dynamic Time Warping)를 자동차 잡음환경에 적용하여 그 음성인식을 위한 파라미터 패턴에 대한 매칭 레벨을 분류하여 잡음환경 적합한 패턴 매칭 레벨을 분석 하였다.

무인차량 라이다용 CMOS 듀얼채널 자동 이득조절 트랜스임피던스 증폭기 어레이 (A Dual-Channel CMOS Transimpedance Amplifier Array with Automatic Gain Control for Unmanned Vehicle LADARs)

  • In this paper, a dual-channel feed-forward transimpedance(TIA) array is realized in a standard $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology which exploits automatic gain control function to provide 40-dB input dynamic range for either detecting targets nearby or sensing imminent danger situations. Compared to the previously reported conventional feed-forward TIA, the proposed automatic-gain-control feed-forward TIA(AFF-TIA) extends the input dynamic range 25 dB wider by employing a 4-level automatic gain control circuit. Measured results demonstrate the linearly varying transimpedance gain of 47 to $72dB{\Omega}$, input dynamic range of 1:100, the bandwidth of $${\geq_-}670MHz$$, the equivalent input referred noise current spectral density of 6.9 pA/${\surd}$HZ, the maximum sensitivity of -26.8 dBm for $10^{-12}BER$, and the power consumption of 27.6 mW from a single 1.8-V supply. The dual-channel chip occupies the area of $1.0{\times}0.73mm^2$ including I/O pads.

출력커패시터 내압 저감이 가능한 승압 컨버터 구조 (Circuit configuration of step-up converter with reduced working voltage of output capacitor)

  • 모터제어장치(MCU)는 높은 전압을 공급하기 위해 인버터 앞 단에 승압용 컨버터를 사용한다. 승압 컨버터는 높은 출력전압을 생성하기 때문에 내압이 높은 출력 커패시터가 필요하여 커패시터의 비용이 증가하게 된다. 이를 해결하기 위해 출력 커패시터의 작동 전압을 낮출 수 있는 승압 컨버터 구조를 제시한다. 제안된 컨버터의 기본 특성은 기존의 부스트 컨버터와 유사하며, 출력 커패시터와 입력 배터리를 직렬로 연결하는 출력 단자의 구조적 차이가 있다. 이러한 출력단 회로 구조에 의해 출력 커패시터의 동작 전압은 기존 승압 컨버터 보다 낮아진다. 이론적 분석, 시뮬레이션, 실험을 통해 기존 부스트 컨버터와 비교하고 타당성과 성능을 검증한다.

  • State-of-charge (SOC) is one of the significant indicators to estimate the driving range of the electric vehicle and to control the alternator of the conventional engine vehicles as well. Therefore its precise estimation is crucial not only for utilizing the energy effectively but also preventing critical situations happening to the power train and lengthening the lifetime of the battery. However, lead-acid battery is time-variant, highly nonlinear, and the hysteresis phenomenon causes large errors in estimation SOC of the battery especially under the frequent discharge/charge. This paper proposes a novel estimation technique for the SOC of the Lead-Acid battery by using a well-known Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and an electrical equivalent circuit model of the Lead-Acid battery considering diffusion and hysteresis characteristics. The diffusion is considered by the reconstruction of the open circuit voltage decay depending on the rest time and the hysteresis effect is modeled by calculating the normalized integration of the charge throughput during the partial cycle. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experiments.

  • Many research studies have been carried out related to saving energy and environmental pollution in the field of construction machinery. The best solution for reducing the related environmental pollution is to reduce fuel consumption by upgrading the energy efficiency of machinery used in this field. An efficiency upgrade in the field of construction machinery would mean minimizing the pressure loss in hydraulic pipe lines or achieving optimal operating conditions while responding to a load. One way to achieve this is to make an equivalent circuit, like an electrohydrostatic actuator, or to improve the spool type valve using the 4/3 way method. This study deals with an electrohydraulic proportional flow control valve. SimulationX software is used as a simulation tool for analyzing the dynamic characteristics. The analysis results, including the performance and characteristics of design parameters, are discussed and the validity of the theoretical analysis is also evaluated.

Analysis of Safety Alarm Mechanism for RF -based Equipment for Casualty Protection by Railway Maintenance Vehicle

  • When doing maintenance works at the trackside of railway, the method which delivers information on approaching of train to maintenance workers through alarm devices such as the flag or indication light, etc., is being used by locating persons in charge of safety alarm in addition to the maintenance workers at fixed distances in the front and rear of the workplace. Workers maintaining at the trackside may collide with the train since they cannot recognize the approach of train although it approaches to the vicinity of maintenance workplace because of the sensory block phenomenon occurred due to their long hours of continued monotonous maintenance work. The clash or rear-end collision accidents between many maintenance trains called motor-cars can be occurred since there are cases where the signal systems for safe operation of motor-car such as track circuit etc. are blocked or not operated normally. We developed the new safety equipment for protection of trackside maintenance workers using radio frequency signals and bidirectional detection mechanism. The developed safety equipment must analyze the several operational mechanism for each different operation situations. In this paper the analysis results are represented.

PWM 제어용 고전압 릴레이의 테스트베드 설계 (Testbed Design of PWM Controlled High Voltage Relay)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a virtual testbed capable of predicting the functional performance of a linear electromagnetic actuator for a high voltage relay in order to reduce its development costs and time. The virtual testbed is defined by a multiphysics coupling approach in order to consider the complex interactions of multi-domains such as the solenoid model of electromagnets, the mass-spring-damper model of mechanical systems, the electric circuit model for an external control unit, and the thermal model for predicting temperature variations. The performances of the existing high voltage relay were estimated by the virtual testbed, and then the effectiveness and validation of the proposed testbed were discussed in comparison with the experimental test results. This study showed that the virtual testbed can be applied in design, optimization, and investigation of high voltage relays.

  • A paradigm shift in driving system of transportation vehicle from engine to electric motor is required as the problems on air pollution and drain of petroleum resource are on the rize. Moreover while it is possible to control the motor with variable frequency driver, the application of motor in various kinds of vehicles is spread rapidly. In the paper, the effective design method of IPMSM for EV and HEV by using equivalent magnetic circuit and finite element method (FEM) is suggested. First of all, load conditions of the application are calculated. And basic design process of IPMSM is proposed with two design point. Finally, in order to verify the proposed design process, it was compared with the basic design parameter and the FEM analysis results.
