  • Experiencing work as a calling has been associated with various positive work-related attitudes and outcomes. Recent studies have examined personal and contextual factors related to job calling; however, gaps remain in the literature on how employees' perception of organizational environment may lead to the formation of employees' job calling. We focused on psychological climate of innovation as the predictor of employees' job calling and further investigated its effect on extra-role behaviors, including innovative work behavior (IWB) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). A total of 165 Malaysian employees from diverse industries and organizations participated in a self-reported online questionnaire. We found support for the mediation model in which the association between a psychological climate of innovation and increased extra-role behaviors through increased job calling. Altogether, these findings provided new insights into the important role of innovative climate on employees' job calling and the mediating role of job calling on extra-role behaviors within occupational settings. Theoretical and practical implications are further discussed.

  • The primary goal of this study is to investigate the impact of social capital on consumer attitudinal evaluations. We propose a hypothetical receptacle, thereby applying a mediation framework because of social capital. We expect that increasing social capital would improve brand image and consumer-company (C-C) identification, resulting in positive in-role and extra-role customer behavior toward the brand. Data was collected from 425 respondents primarily from Karachi's five zones (East, West, North, South, and Central) and analyzed using confirmatory component analysis and structural equation design. The findings showed that social capital had a positive and significant relationship with customer extra-role behavior, as well as two mediators, brand image and consumer business identity. Furthermore, both mediators have a significant impact on both in-role and extra-role behavior. However, there is no evidence that social capital has a direct impact on in-role behavior. This study will help businesses in gaining a competitive advantage by concentrating on social capital to improve their brand image and customer relationship.

The questionnaries were administered to a sample of 366 junior high school girls in Seoul. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation. The results were that, liberal attitudes toward sex role were positively related to unisex clothing attitude: liberal attitudes toward sex role were negatively related to modesty in clothing. Liberal attitudes toward sex role were related to the yin-yang continuum of design preference in clothing; that is, the persons having more liberal attitudes toward sex role preferred yang (masculine) design.

  • This study focused on the cultural differences between South Korea and the U.S. in terms of male consumers' sex role attitude and its influence on grooming and apparel shopping behavior. Purposive samples of American and South Korean males aged between 20 and 40 years were surveyed. The sample sizes were 219 and 233 for American and South Korean consumers, respectively. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling and ANOVA using SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 14.0. The results indicated that only grooming was influenced by the perceived femininity in the case of South Korean men; however, the model for American men indicated a significant positive influence of femininity on grooming and recreational apparel shopping behavior. In other words, American male consumers who perceive themselves feminine were more likely to be engaged in grooming and recreational apparel shopping behavior. On the other hand, for South Korean men, recreational apparel shopping behavior was not influenced by their sex role attitude, or whether they considered themselves feminine or masculine. This means that recreational apparel shopping behavior is a gender-specific behavior in the U.S., but not in South Korea. The findings of this study indicated that culture has influence on consumers' approach to shopping and appearance. South Korean male consumers were more likely to acknowledge themselves as being feminine, enjoy apparel shopping and grooming compared to American male consumers.

The instrument used for measuring health belief was Park's(1985). for health locus of control was Wallston. et al's(1978) and for sick-role behavior compliance was Park's(1984). The data were collected with structured questionnaires; total 58 items contained about health belief. health locus of control and sick-role behavior compliance from 1st to 31st July. 2001. The data was analyzed by the SPSS/PC programs using t-test. Pearson's correlation coefficient. ANOVA and Scheffe-test. Statistically significant factors influencing the health belief among social demographic characteristics were family number(F=3.818. p=0.024), monthly income(F=5.153, p=0.002), time of diagnosis(F=3.937. p=0.002) and difficult to control disease(F=5.803. p=0.000). The significant factors influencing the health locus of control were marital status(F=4.669. p=0.010). Also significant factors influencing the sick-role behavior compliance were monthly incomes(F=5.245, p=0.000). the time of diagnosis(F=4.424. p=0.001) and admission to hospital with diabetes(F=9.031. p=0.000). There was negative mild correlation comparatively between health belief and sickrole behavior compliance(r=-0.142, p<0.05) but no correlation in sensitiveness/severity, barrier, benefit(p<0.05). There was no correlation between internal. external. chance health locus of control and sick-role behavior compliance (P>0.05). Conclusion: There was a negative weak relationship between health locus of control and patient's sick role behavior compliance. Therefore further study to investigate the relating factor of the sick role behavior compliance among above of middle aged diabetes mellitus patients is necessary.

  • The purposes of this study are to examine the differences of gender role identity according to general characteristics, parenting behavior, and family function, and to find out the main predictors of gender role identity, in order to further test the mediating effects of family function between parenting behavior and gender role identity among middle school students. Six hundred-fifty 3rd graders from three middle schools in Busan participated in this study. The results showed that the significant variables for predicting the masculinity of gender role identity include family cohesion, and parenting behaviors (father's reasoning, mother's over-expectation) and monthly household income, respectively. The significant variables for predicting femininity were family cohesion, and father's intrusive parenting behaviors, father's educational background and the mother's affection, respectively. The results indicated that for masculinity, family cohesion played the full mediator with the father's monitoring behavior and the partial mediator with the father's reasoning behavior. Similarly, for the mother's reasoning and affection, family cohesion played a full mediator. For femininity, the family cohesion played the full mediator with the father's affection and the partial mediator with the mother's affection. Similarly, for androgyny, the family cohesion played a role of full mediator with the father's monitoring, reasoning, affection and mother's reasoning and affection. In other words, the parents'positive parenting behaviors affected the family cohesion, and in turn, had an impact on the formation of the gender role identity.

  • The present study examines the relationship among relationship quality, organizational commitment, and prosocial behavior. In this study, relationship quality is defined as relationship quality between manager and employee (RQME) and relationship quality between organization and employee (RQOE). The authors also investigate the mediating roles of RQOE and organizational commitment in the conceptual research model. Findings indicate that RQME has a positive and direct effect on RQOE, organizational commitment, and prosocial behavior. The results also show that both RQOE and organizational commitment have a mediating role in the relationship between RQME and prosocial behavior of employees. Finally, the authors found that RQOE influences prosocial behavior through organizational commitment.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships and predictor variable between father's child-rearing behaviors and children's sex-role taking, emotional responses and children's prosocial behavior by demographic variables and mother's work status. Subjects were 142 kindergarten children and their mothers in Busan. Three type of measurement were used in this study; (1) Two scales for father's child-rearing behaviors and children's emotional responses, (2) an interview for children's sex-role taking, and (3) amount of candies to share with classmates for children's prosocial behavior. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, F-test, multiple regression, Scheffe's post hoc test using the SAS computer program. There were significant correlations between father's child-rearing behaviors and children's sex-role taking, and between father's child-rearing behaviors and children's prosocial behavior. There were significant differences in father's child-rearing behaviors, children's emotional respones, and children prosocial behavior by SES and mother's job. Father's child-rearing behaviors were the most important predictor variables influencing children's sex-role taking and children's prosocial behavior.
