Design of Gateway for In-vehicle Sensor Network

  • The advanced information and communication technology gives vehicles another role of the third digital space, merging a physical space with a virtual space in a ubiquitous society. In the ubiquitous environment, the vehicle becomes a sensor node, which has a computing and communication capability in the digital space of wired and wireless network. An intelligent vehicle information system with a remote control and diagnosis is one of the future vehicle systems that we can expect in the ubiquitous environment. However, for the intelligent vehicle system, many issues such as vehicle mobility, in-vehicle communication, service platform and network convergence should be resolved. In this paper, an in-vehicle gateway is presented for an intelligent vehicle information system to make an access to heterogeneous networks. It gives an access to the server systems on the internet via CDMA-based hierarchical module architecture. Some experiments was made to find out how long it takes to communicate between a vehicle's intelligent information system and an external server in the various environment. The results show that the average response time amounts to 776ms at fixec place, 707ms at rural area and 910ms at urban area.

Utilizing Integrated Public Big Data in the Database System for Analyzing Vehicle Accidents

  • In this paper, we propose to design and implement the database management system for analyzing vehicle accidents through utilizing integration of the public big data. And the paper aims to provide valuable information for recognizing seriousness of the vehicle accidents and various circumstances at the accident time, and to utilize the produced information for the insurance company policies as well as government policies. For analysis of the vehicle accidents the system utilizes the integrated big data of National Indicator System, the Meteorological Office, National Statistical Office, Korea Insurance Development Institute, Road Traffic Authority, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as well as the National Police Agency, which differentiates this system from the previous systems. The system consists of data at the accident time including weather conditions, vehicle models, age, sex, insurance amount etc., by which the database system users are able to obtain the integral information about vehicle accidents. The result shows that the vehicle accidents occur more frequently in the clear weather conditions, in the vehicle to vehicle conditions and in crosswalk & crossway. Also, it shows that the accidents in the cloudy weather leads more seriously to injury and death than in the clear weather. As well, the vehicle accident information produced by the system can be utilized to effectively prevent drivers from dangerous accidents.

서울메트로 차량 유지보수체계 정보시스템의 경제성 분석 (Economic Analysis for Vehicle Maintenance Information System of Seoul Metro)

  • This study attempts to estimate economic benefits in terms of cost sayings and qualitative effects resulting ken implementation of new vehicle maintenance information system. It is widely expected that the effect of new vehicle maintenance information system will be significant in cost savings by information sharing and electronic documentation. To evaluate the economic feasibility of new system implementation, the study conducted seven subsystems case studies on the vehicle maintenance information system of Seoul Metro. Economic benefits are estimated by measuring the time savings, in turn, are calculated into cost savings by multiplying the average wages per hour of employee. The result of case study showed that over the 20 billion Won will be saved owing to new vehicle information system implementation. In conclusion, this study will contribute to the field of practices for the most, in evaluation of the economic benefits resulting from new information system implementation in the railway organization.

  • Recent development in wireless computing and GPS technology cause the active development in the application system of location information in real-time environment such as transportation vehicle management, air traffic control and location based system. Especially, study about vehicle location tracking system, which monitors the vehicle's position in a control center, is appeared to be a representative application system. However, the current vehicle location tracking system can not provide vehicle position information that is not stored in a database at a specific time to users. We designed a vehicle location tracking system that could track vehicle location using mobile interface such as PDA. The proposed system consist of a vehicle location retrieving server and a mobile interface. It is provide not only the moving vehicle's current location but also the position at a past and future time which is not stored in database for users.

Development of Vehicle Oriented Black Box System Based on U-Healthcare and Human-Free Guard Functions

  • The vehicle oriented block box system based on the u-healthcare and the human-free guard functions is developed in this paper. We also suggested the design philosophies, ideas, and analyzed the performance of the suggested system. The developed vehicle oriented black box system has some characteristics such as; 1) detects the dangerous situation by ultrasonic sensor in advance, and stores the situation information of the neighborhood of the vehicle to the imbedded SD memory card if the dangerous situation may be occurred in the parked vehicle; 2) detects the present location and speed information of the vehicle by GPS receiver and 3-axes acceleration sensor, and stores the information to the SD memory card periodically if the vehicle is running; 3) measures the dioxide carbon in the vehicle inside using $CO_2$ sensor, and forces the ventilation motor of the vehicle to operate and maintains the driver's health if the measured level is more than standard health requirements; 4) provides the stored vehicle's operating information to the driver by GUI (Graphical User Interface) based touch LCD monitor.

The Human Vehicle Interface System for Integrating and Managing the In-Vehicle Interactions with IT Devices

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the system to integrate and manage the in-vehicle interactions between the drivers and the in-vehicle mobile IT devices. Background: As the mobile IT technology is being used anywhere, the drivers are interacting with the mobile IT device on driving situations. The distraction of the driver's attention causes the car accidents. It is necessary to develop the HVI(Human Vehicle Interface System) to integrate and manage the in-vehicle interactions with IT devices. Method: The HVI System is designed not as the interfacing subject but as the supervising system to monitor the driver's status and support the driver to concentrate on the primary tasks. The HVI system collects the status information of the car and driver and estimate the driving workload. Results: The HVI system controls how to provide the output information based on the driving workload. We implemented the HVI system prototype and applied in the real vehicle with the HVI cell phone and the HVI car navigation system. Conclusion: Depending on the driving situations, the HVI system prevented the information output in dangerous situation and diversified the modality and the intensity of the output information. Application: We will extend the HVI system to be connected the other various IT devices and verity the effectiveness of the system through various experiments.

  • This study of bimodal integration management system in conjunction with the tram and the tram cars bimodal integrated management system that occupies a part of the system to perform its role as a bimodal tram vehicle configuration, a device for the vehicle's infrastructure ryureul development and it is aimed to build on the vehicle. Bimodal tram vehicle infrastructure systems, internal and external information of the larger vehicles, and vehicles used to collect information for its own part and the integrated operations management center, or providing partial information from the station and collect/provide for the transfer of information to the communication part consists In this study, the core of these devices, the configuration of the vehicle infrastructure systems for the overall management and control of vehicles operating a computer's central processing device, vehicle infrastructure systems that make it manages and stores all jangchiryu Integrated Operations Management Center is reporting. In addition, seamless integration with operational management center for interactive communication in a vehicle mounted communications devices to maintain the best condition to manage. Current general traffic management system in a similar terminal device being used, but bimodal tram vehicles operating the computer of the vehicle operates the infrastructure to configure the devices around the one to configure the system in terms of step enhanced the active type, the operating terminal unit of inter active type. In this study, considering the future alignment of the accounting fee system, the expansion of the system reliability and stability around the activities that are underway.

차내 정보의 문자 표시 시스템 개발 (Development of the On-Vehicle Information Display System)

  • This paper presents the on-vehicle information system that displays the states of the vehicle in brief words instead of symbols. Main functions of this system include a system check function, trip function, warning function, and clock function. With this system, a driver can obtain all sorts of useful information related to various conditions of the vehicle, and if any problem arises in the vehicle, he can recognize it by the displayed words with a warning sound. Also, this system is very helpful for safety driving because it displays whatever a driver wants to have concerning trip information. By experimental test and driving test, the development system shows good results for each function.

  • The development of Airside Vehicle Control System(AVCS) at Gimpo Airport aims to reduce ground safety accidents in movement area and improve airport operation efficiency and safety management service quality. The vehicle is controlled by a brake controller RTK-antenna and On-Board Diagonostics(OBD) module. Location data is transmitted to a nearby communication base station through a Wi-Fi router and the base station is connected to the AVCS by an optical cable to transmit location data from each vehicle. The vehicle position is precisely corrected to display information using the system. The system allows airport operators to view registered information on aircraft and vehicles and monitor their locations speeds and directions in real time. When a vehicle approaches a dangerous area alarm warnings and remote brake control are possible to prevent accidents caused by carelessness of the driver in advance.

  • 최근 차량에는 차량과 IT와 결합을 차량의 안전성, 편리성을 위해 많은 전자제어장치(ECU)가 장착되어 있고 있다. 이러한 전자제어장치는 각 전자제어장치에 대한 Data는 OBDII 네트워크에 전송을 하고 멀티미디어에 대한 Data 는 MOST 네트워크에 전송을 한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 블랙박스의 문제점을 보완하기 위해 차량용 네트워크의 새로운 멀티미디어 네트워크인 MOST 차량용 네트워크와 현재 차량에서 표준적으로 쓰이는 OBDII 차량용 네트워크를 이용하여 전자제어장치의 데이터를 이용한 Data들을 취합하여 차량의 현재 상황을 판단하고 정보를 제공함으로써 차량의 안전성 및 블랙박스로써의 역할을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 차량용 블랙박스 시스템을 구현하고자 한다.
