  • This research investigated the effects of spherical and aspherical R.G.P lenses which was performed by optometrists in In-Cheon and Kyung-Gi region. This research survey included various questions such as the fitting status, after-care method, preliminary test. Results of the survey revealed that the optometriests sold the asperical and spherical lenses with a ratio of 7:3, respectively, and most of them did not cheked Topography, Fluorescein test by slit lamp biomicroscope, Tear Break up time test, Schirmer test and so on. And, with fitted R.G.P lenses symptoms like light odd-feeling, congestion, eye-stimulus, dimness and dryness were frequently reported. The purposes of this study are to search for the ideal fitting check of R.G.P lens and remind the most important preliminary test for contact lens fitting.

  • Crushed sand is made by crushing the rocks artificially. With a wide shortage of natural river sand all over the region in Korea, demand for crushed sand are becoming increased. However, Informations as to crushed sand are insufficient. In this paper, the actual conditions of crushed sand related to producing and quality variation are investigated. 29 manufacturing company of crushed sand are reviewed. According to results, density of most crushed sand tested exceeded 2.5g/cm3, and absorption ratio meet the requirement of KS except one sample. For grain properties, passing amount of 0.08mm sieve satisfied the requirement of KS except one sample. Grain distribution of most crushed sand is estimated $54.26\%$. But 6 crushed sand sample did not meet the requirement of KS. Fineness modulus and grading are varied from manufacturing region. 18 samples of crushed sand among 29 samples deviated the minimum level of standard grading range by KS. Therefore, improvement of grain properties of crushed sand is urgently needed to manufacture better crushed sand.

  • The sex differentiation of fishes occurs under the control of genetic and various environmental factors. DM-domain containing genes are novel zinc finger transcription factors and play key roles in sex determination. In order to isolate the wrasse DMRT (wDMRT) cDNA from the protogynous wrasse (Halichoeres tenuispinnis), the wrasse testis cDNA library was screened using the $^{32}$ P-labeled PCR products, which were amplified with the degenerate primers from conserved DM-domain regions of several DMRT genes. Among a few positives obtained through screening, the full length wDMRT cDNA of 2.9kb size encoding a predicted 300 amino acid residues was isolated. The sequence analysis exhibited 60%, 43% sequence identity with rainbow trout and tilapia DMRT1, respectively. RT-PCR assay showed that wDMRT was expressed specifically in male testis. Also, wDMRT gene was strongly expressed in May during reproductive season, when the reproductivity of wrasse is most active. This results suggested that wDMRT gene function in testis differentiation The conserved DM-domain regions were amplified using PCR from DMRT genes of several species among Labridae, and their sequences were determined. The sequence of DM-domain region of Halichoeres. tenuispinis was identical to those of Pseudolabrus japonicus, Pteragogus flagellifera, and showed 94% identity with that of Halichoeres poecioptrerus.
