Correlation of the Rates of Solvolyses of Benzhydryl Halides Using an Extended Grunwald-Winstein Equation

  • Rates of solvolyses of benzhydryl chloride ($Ph_2$CHCl, 1) and benzhydryl bromide ($Ph_2$CHBr, 2) in ethanol, methanol, and aqueous binary mixtures incorporating ethanol, methanol, 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) and acetone are reported. Solvolyses were also carried out in TFE-ethanol mixtures. Application of the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation led to l value of 1.19 (1), 1.29 (2) and m value of 1.00 (1), 0.77 (2), correlation coefficient of 0.965 (1) and 0.970 (2). Sensitivities (l = 1.19 (1), 1.29 (2) and m = 1.00 (1), 0.77 (2)) were similar to those obtained for several previously studied solvolyses, in which an $S_N$2 pathway is proposed for the solvolyses of benzhydryl halides ($Ph_2$CHX, X = Cl or Br).

  • MPEG-4 BIFS(Binary Format for Scene)는 장면에서 각 시각 객체의 시공간적 위치 정보를 기술하는 형식이다. 이는 국내의 지상파 DMB 방송에 시험 송출하고 있으며, 다양한 멀티미디어 포맷으로 전환이 가능하다. 현재 유통되는 DMB 수신기는 이동통신단말기에 탑재되는 경우가 많고 꾸준히 증가 추세를 보이고 있으며 DMB 방송과 이동통신 데이터망을 융합한 다양한 서비스가 가능하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이동통신 데이터망과 MPEG-4 BIFS를 이용한 인터렉티브 멀티미디어 저작 포맷의 새로운 방법은 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 MPEG-4 BIFS를 수정 및 보완하고 DMB 방송과 이동통신 데이터망과의 상호 보완하여 동작되며 사용자가 직접 참여한 저작 내용을 DMB 방송으로 재송출 할 수 있고, 유저가 원하는 내용으로 재구성하는 새로운 인터렉티브 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 생성한다.

원격탐사 자료를 이용한 하와이 해안지역 식생 분류 (Vegetation Mapping of Hawaiian Coastal Lowland Using Remotely Sensed Data)

  • 본 연구는 고해상도 자료와 하이퍼스펙트럴 자료를 혼용하여 하와이 화산 국립공원 내 해안 지역의 식생을 분류하고자 하였다. 연구지역에 주로 나타나는 식생은 3종의 초본(broomsedge, natal redtop, and pili)과 작은 관목 등으로 대표되는 비초본으로 구분된다. 분류 기법으로는 unsupervised classification과 supervised classification을 결합한 하이브리드법을 이용하여 전체적으로 3단계 분류과정을 적용하였다. 첫째로는, IKONOS 고해상 위성자료를 이용하여, 식생 및 비식생지역을 unsupervised classification법을 통해 분류하였다. 두 번째로는, minimum noise fraction(MNF) transformation을 이용하여 AVIRIS하이퍼스펙트럴 자료로부터 주성분을 추출하여 자료를 압축하는 과정을 거쳤다. 20미터 해상도를 가진 AVIRIS 픽셀들은 대부분 용암면과 식생면으로부터 반사된 복사신호가 혼합되어 있기때문에, 용암과 식생의 지표피복 비율에 따른 선형모형을 적용하여 용암면이 갖는 반사 신호를 각 픽셀로부터 제거하였다. 최종적으로, 각 픽셀에 대하여, 식생피복 비율에 비례하는 AVIRIS 하이퍼스펙트럴 자료의 식생성분을 토대로 maximum likelihood algorithm에 따라 supervised classification법을 적용하여 초지 및 관목으로 대표되는 지표식생을 분류하였다.

  • 웨어러블 센서 시스템에서 사용하는 일반적인 전송 전력 조절 모델에서는 수신 패킷의 RSSI가 Target RSSI Margin을 벗어나면 전송 전력 조절 알고리즘을 이용하여 새로운 전송 전력을 찾는다. 이 때 싱크 노드가 센서 노드에게 새로이 계산된 전송 전력을 전달하기 위해 제어 패킷을 보낸다. 그런데 무선 네트워크의 채널 상태가 좋지 않을 때는 제어 패킷을 많이 소모하면서도 적정 전송 전력을 찾지 못해 에너지 낭비만 하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서 무선 네트워크 채널 환경이 안정적이라고 판단되었을 때 전송 전력을 변경하는 새로운 제어 패킷 전송 결정 기법을 제안한다. 제안되는 기법으로 낭비되는 에너지를 줄일 수 있다. 제안하는 기법을 평가하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Binary 전송 전력 조절 알고리즘에 제어 패킷 전송 결정 기법을 적용하고 그 결과를 분석한다. 채널의 상태를 판단하는 방안을 3가지 제안하여 실험하고 결과를 분석한다.

Absolute Dimension and Pulsational Characteristics of the Eclipsing Binary EW Boo with a δ Sct Pulsator

  • We present the TESS photometry and our high-resolution spectra of the semi-detached Algol EW Boo. For an orbital period study, we collected all available times of minima including ours for the last 30 years. It is found that the eclipse timing variation of the system can be represented by a periodic oscillation of 18.5±1.0 yr plus a secular period increase with a rate of [dP/dt]orb=-6(±3)×10-8 d yr-1. From our observed spectra, the effective temperature of the primary star was determined to be Teff,1=8560±118 K. From a simultaneous analysis of the TESS light and our double-lined radial velocity curves, the absolute masses, radii, and luminosities are M1=2.30±0.07M, M2=0.38±0.01M, R1=1.92±0.02 R, R2=1.27±0.01 R, L1=1.92±0.02 L, and L2=0.752±0.007 L, respectively. Multiple frequency analyses were carried out for the light residuals after subtracting the binary star model. We detected a total of 75 frequencies in the region of 16.50-104.8 day-1. Our results demonstrate that the more hotter primary star of EW Boo is a δ Sct pulsator by considering its position in the δ Scuti region of the Cepheid instability strip and pulsational characteristics.

실시간 응용을 위한 안드로이드 플랫폼에서의 안면 검출 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Face Detection System on Android Platform for Real-Time Applications)

  • This paper describes an implementation of face detection technology for a real-time application on the Android platform. Java class of Face-Detection for detection of human face is provided by the Android API. However, this function is not suitable to apply for the real-time applications due to inadequate detection speed and accuracy. In this paper, the AdaBoost based classification method which utilizes Local Binary Pattern (LBP) histogram is employed for face detection. The face detection module has been developed by C/C++ language for high-speed image processing, and this module is included to the Android platform using the Java Native Interface (JNI). The experiments were carried out in the Java-based environment and JNI-based environment. The experimental results have shown that the performance of JNI-based is faster than Java-based method and our system is well enough to apply for real-time applications.

  • Current searches for gravitational microlensing events are being carried out only by a photometric method. In this review paper, we demonstrate that the nature of Galactic lenses can be significantly better constrained with the additional astrometric observations of microlensng events. First, by astromerically observing lensing events, one can resolve the lens parameter degeneracy, and thus the lens mass can be determined with improved precision. Second, by being free from the blending problem, astrometric observations of lensing events will allow one to improve the uncertainties in the determined Einstein time scales. Third, the lens brightness, which could not be measured photometrically, can be measured from the astrometric observations of lensing events, and thus the nature of lens matter can be better constrained. Finally, with the help of astrometric followup observations of a binary-lens event, one can uniquely determine the solution of lens parameters, allowing one to obtain important astronomical information about the source star and the lens itself.

An Efficient If Routing Lookup by Using Routing Interval

  • Nowadays, the commonly used table lookup scheme for IP routing is based on the sc-called classless interdomain routing (CIDR). With CIDR, routers must find out the best matching prefix (BMP) for IP packets forwarding, this complicates the IP lookup. Currently, this process is mainly performed in software and several schemes hale been proposed for hardware implementation. Since the IP lookup performance is a major design issue for the new generation routers, in this article we investigate the properties of the routing table and present a new approach for IP lookups, our approach is not based Gn BMP and significantly reduces the complexity, thus the computation cast of existing schemes can be significantly reduced. We also propose an efficient IP lookup algorithm, with which we improve the binary search on prefixes to 30 millions of packets per second (MPPS) and 5,000 route updates/s under the same experiment setup with an even larger routing table.

Study on the space frame structures incorporated with magnetorheological dampers

  • Magnetorheological damper has received significant attention in recent years due to the reason that it can offer adaptability of active control devices without requiring the associated large power sources. In this paper, performance tests on a MR damper are carried out under different currents, excitation amplitudes and frequencies, the damping characteristics and energy dissipation capacity of the MR damper are analyzed. Elasto-plastic dynamic analysis on a space frame structure incorporated with MR dampers is conducted, and numerical analysis results show that MR dampers can significantly mitigate the structural vibration responses. Finally, the genetic algorithm with the improved binary crossover and mutation technique is adopted to optimize the arrangement of MR dampers. Numerical results show that dynamic responses of the optimal controlled structure are mitigated more effectively.

  • An experimental study on the chromatographic separation of maltopentaose from a mixture, including glucose, maltose, maltotriose, and maltopentaose, was carried out in a nonionic polymeric sorbent column while varying the operating conditions, such as the solution pH, buffer contents, and isopropyl alcohol (1PA) concentration. Unlike the pH and buffer contents, the IPA concentration had a Significant impact on the single component chromatograms for maltopentaose. The retention times of the maltooligosaccharides with the nonionic polymeric sorbent Sp207 were in the following order: glucose < maltose < maltotriose < maltopentaose. From the experimental binary, ternary, and quaternary chromatograms, gradient chromatographic separation with a changing IPA concentration as a function of time was required to obtain high-purity maltopentaose and reduce the elution time.
