The miniaturization of device size and multilevel interlayers have been developed by ULSI circuit devices. These submicron processes cause serious problems in conventional metallization due to the solubility of silicon and metal at the interface, such as an increasing contact resistance in the contact hole and interdiffusion between metal and silicon. Therefore it is necessary to implement a barrier layer between Si and metal. Thus, the size of multilevel interconnection of ULSI devices is critical metallization schemes, and it is necessary reduce the RC time delay for device speed performance. So it is tendency to study the Cu metallization for interconnect of semiconductor processes. However, at the submicron process the interaction between Si and Cu is so strong and detrimental to the electrical performance of Si even at temperatures below $200^{\circ}C$. Thus, we suggest the tungsten-carbon-nitrogen (W-C-N) thin film for Cu diffusion barrier characterized by nano scale indentation system. Nano-indentation system was proposed as an in-situ and nanometer-order local stress analysis technique.

NMR experiments with various pulse repetition delay time were carried out for the $^{15}N\;and\;^{13}C$ of a natural gem diamond and synthetic diamonds. The natural gem diamond had a weak $^{13}C$ peak at 34.1ppm when 30 second pulse repetition delay time was applied. Similar but more prominent $^{13}C$ peaks were observed at 34.2 ppm with 0.5 second pulse repetition delay time and at 34.7 ppm with 50 second pulse repetition delay time for the synthetic diamonds. Any meaningful $^{15}N$ peak was not observed for either natural or synthetic diamonds due to extremely low content of the $^{15}N$. Significant relationship was observed between relative spin-lattice relaxation times we estimated and the content of impurities. however, it was not possible to distinguish natural diamond from synthetic diamonds due to very similar characteristics of their $^{13}C$ NMR signals except relative spin-lattice relaxation times.
The marble-type dolomite from the Jasung Mine, which was farmed by duplicated affects of contact metamorphism and subsequent hydrothermal alteration, corresponds to a high-purity dolomite ranging up to above 98wt.% in dolomite contents. The dolomite contain minor impurities such as quartz, muscovite, and pyrite. It is characteristic that the dolomite is fairy Fe-rich corresponding to 0.4 wt.% due to the presence of pyrite of possible hydrothermal origin. The dolomite is nearly white-colored and constituting with subhedral crystals ranging $0.35{\sim}0.46mm$M in size, forming equigranular texture. Compared to the typical high-Ca limestone from the Pungchon Formation, the powder characteristics of dolomite is rather superior in milling efficiency, yields of fine particles, and size distribution. In addition, except for iron contents, the dolomite powder is no less superior than the limestone in quality and characteristics as fillers with respects to not only whiteness, oil absorption, and specific surface area but also shape characters such as elongation ratio, aspect ratio, and sphericity. This good characteristics of dolomite powder seem to be originated basically from comparatively higher grade and crystallinity of dolomite. Higher iron contents and the presence of sulfides prevents the dolomite from application for uses by thermal treatment, except for metallic manufacture. However, if proper ore separation procedure is available, the dolomite can be sufficiently utilized as substitutes for high-Ca limestone in most fields of filler industries.
The micelle process was developed for pre-purifying paclitaxel from plant cell cultures of Taxus chinensis, giving a high purity and yield. The approach in this work was to transfer paclitaxel in the crude extract to an aqueous surfactant solution as a micelle, allowing organic solvents to be used for removal of lipids and non-polar impurities. In this work, the effects of various surfactants such as CPC, CTMAC, LTMAC, SDS, AOT, Tween, PEG, and Triton were examined on the yield, purity, and phase separation time in micelle process. Among these surfactants, CTMAC (5%, w/v) gave the best result in terms of paclitaxel yield (${\sim}99%$), purity (${\sim}21%$), and phase separation time (30 min). The use of micelles in the pre-purification process allows for rapid and efficient separation of paclitaxel from interfering compounds and dramatically increases the yield and purity of crude paclitaxel for subsequent purification steps.
Two needle cokes (NC-A and NC-B) that differ in both the texture and impurity content to each other were graphitized at $2000-3000{\circ}C$, and the average particle size, size distribution and surface area were compared after milling. Their anodic properties in Li secondary batteries were also analyzed. Two materials showed a higher degree of graphitization with an increase in the preparation temperature, however, the NC-B series was less graphitized than NC-A due to the presence of impurities and less ordered mosaic texture. The mein particle size of the milled powder was proportional to the degree of graphitization, but the surface area showed the opposite trend. The highly graphitized materials yielded powders of lower uniformity in the size distribution. The discharge capacity of the resulting carbons steadily decreased in the temperature range of 1000 to $2000^{\circ}C$ due to the depletion of carbonaceous interlayers that contain crystal defects. A later increase in the discharge capacity was observed at $>2000^{\circ}C$, which arises from the formation of graphitic interlayers. The milling process gave rise to a sloping discharge curve at >1.0 V, but this was converted to a plateau at <0.25V after a repeated cycling or additional heat-treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$. The discharge at >1.0V likely comes from the disordered surface structure formed during the milling process. The evolution of a plateau at <0.25 V suggests that this disordered structure transforms to a more ordered graphitic one upon a cell cycling or heat-treatment.

The objective of this study was to investigate the quality characteristics of spirits derived from fruit using copper distillation equipment. First, optimal yeast strains were chosen through a fermentation test on raw materials (apples, mandarins and rowanberries). The normal fermentation condition for rowanberries observed at a rowanberry concentration of 8% during mashing included chaptalization with sugar to increase the alcohol content. During the mashing, fruits were fermented and distilled through one of three different types of distillation apparatuses (pot distiller, vacuum distiller, or multistage distiller made of copper). The results revealed that the type of apparatus used affects the content of alcohol and flavor components. The distilled spirits prepared through a copper multistage distiller had a much higher tendency to retain components of fruit aromas such as ethyl acetate and provided higher yields than spirits prepared with a pot distiller or vacuum distiller. Thus, the copper multistage distiller apparatus can be applied to positively influence the taste and flavor of fruit distilled spirits by enhancing fruit aromas, removing impurities such as sulfur components and enhancing yields.

We study on the change of electrical properties of two-dimensional (2D) $SnSe_2$ materials with respect to Cl doping as $SnSe_{1.994}Cl_{0.006}$ under a high temperature condition. (300~450 K) By the simple solid-state reaction method, non-and Cl-doped 2D $SnSe_2$ materials are successfully synthesized with negligible impurities as confirmed by X-ray diffraction. From the temperature dependence of resistivity, it is observed that the conduction mechanism is changed from hopping to degenerate conduction with Cl doping. By Hall effect measurement, an increase on electron carrier concentration from ${\sim}7{\times}10^{16}$ to ${\sim}3{\times}10^{18}cm^{-3}$ with Cl doping verifies that Cl is an effective electron donor which results in the encouraged carrier concentration. Detailed analysis for temperature dependent Hall mobility reveals that the electrical transports in high temperature regime are governed by the grain boundary-controlled mechanism for non-doped $SnSe_2$, which is effectively suppressed by Cl-doping as entering metallic transport regime.
A fundamental study to recycle a Si-Sludge and waste copper nitrate solution acid solution generated by domestic electronic industries was carried out. The waste copper nitrate solution was used as the lixiviant to leach the metals like Cu, Ca, Fe, etc. from the sludge leaving Si in the residues. The effect of reaction temperature, time and pup density on the metals leaching from the sludge was investigated. To enhance the extractability of Fe, the effect of HCl, $HNO_3$ and $H_2O_2$ introduced additionally during the leaching was also examined. Considering the leaching efficiency of Fe along with Cu, the leaching conditions comprising of 200 ~ 225 g/L pulp density and $90^{\circ}C$ temperature for 30 min were optimized. Under this condition, 98.27 ~ 99.17% Cu could be dissolved in the leach liquor with the obtained purity of Si in the residues as 98.69 ~ 98.86 %. The study revealed that the leaching of Cu contained in the Si-Sludge with the waste copper nitrate solution is a plausible approach by which the obtained leach liquor can further be treated suitably to recover Cu as the high pure value-added products.
The steam generator tubes of nuclear power plants have various types of corrosion failures during the plant operation. The stress corrosion cracking which occurs on the outer surface of tube is called the secondary side stress corrosion cracking and mainly occurs in the expansion-transition area of tube. The causes are the concentration of impurities by the sludge pile-up related to the geometry of its region and the residual stress by tube expansion in the process of steam generator manufacturing. Especially the directionality and sizes of residual stresses are differed according to the tube expansion methods and the direction and the frequency of tube cracks depend on their characteristics. In bases on the plant experiences, it is notified that circumferential cracks of tubes expanded with explosive expansion method are dominantly occurred compared to those of tubes done with hydraulic expansion one. Therefore in this study, according to tube expansion methods frequencies and sizes of tube cracks with specific direction are compared by means of accelerated immersion test and also the crack morphology and the specific chemicals from water-chemistry environment are observed through the fracture surface examination.
We proposed the revised full-pattern-fitting method of illite polytype quantification with background correction and scale factor correction of WILDFIRE(C) simulated pattern, and R% value ((${\sum}$|simulated-measured|/simulated)/ $n{\times}100$) calculation, and then verified the reliability of this method by applying for the test sample ($2M_1$:1M$$\frac{._-}{.}$$1:1), and by comparing the result with Grathoff and Moore method (1996). We confirmed that the proposed method showed the error range of less than 3.6%, which is much lower than the previous full-pattern-fitting methods, in spite of the impurities of the test sample. In the comparison with Grathoff and Moore method for 2 tested samples, we obtained the relatively higher $2M_1$ contents using Grathoff and Moore method, whereas we obtained the reliable results with less than 10% of R% values.
