The Effects of Internet Fashion Consumer's Impulse Buying Tendency on Positive and Negative Purchasing Behaviors (인터넷 패션 소비자의 충동구매성향이 긍정적, 부정적 구매행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the effects of internet fashion consumer's impulse buying tendency on positive and negative purchasing behaviors. A survey was conducted from October 1 to December 15 in 2010, and 407 responses from internet fashion consumers who made impulse purchases on the internet at least once for the last 6 months were used in the data analysis. As a result, the impulse buying tendency of internet fashion consumers was classified into pure impulse buying, reminder impulse buying, suggestion impulse buying, and stimulus impulse buying. The positive purchasing behaviors such as repurchase intention and purchase satisfaction were influenced by the impulse buying tendency. The all factors of impulse buying tendency had an effect on repurchase intention, while purchase satisfaction was influenced by the reminder impulse buying, suggestion impulse buying, and stimulus impulse buying. The negative purchasing behaviors were classified into delay in decision making and switching intention of purchase. The delay in decision making was influenced by the stimulus impulse buying, suggestion impulse buying, and reminder impulse buying. Also, the reminder impulse buying, suggestion impulse buying and pure impulse buying had an effect on switching intention of purchase. In addition, there were significant differences in the impulse buying tendency and delay in decision making between male and female internet fashion consumers.

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this research is to examine the effect of impulse buying tendencies toward impulse buying, which is mediated by an urge to buy and moderated by the gender of the retail customers. Research design, data and methodology: This study uses a survey design. The sample consisted of several mall customers in Yogyakarta. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique. Data collection was carried out in two ways, distributing questionnaires online and directly giving questionnaires to mall customers. Results: The results of data analysis using structural equation modeling show that: 1). Impulse buying tendencies have a positive and significant effect on the urge to buy and impulse buying, 2). The effect of impulse buying tendencies on impulse buying were mediated by an urge to buy and moderated by gender. Conclusions: Theoretical implications of this research strengthen the concept/theory concerning the relationship of the impulse buying tendencies, urge to buy and impulse buying. The results of the study have some managerial implications. It can be used to reference retail store business in increasing the volume of retail customers purchases through impulse buying. The retail businesses can increase impulse buying which will trigger impulsive purchases and the company's sales and profitability

A Study on the Effect of Social Face Sensitivity on Satisfaction - Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Impulse Buying Tendency - (체면민감성이 만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 - 충동구매성향의 매개효과를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of social face sensitivity on impulse buying tendency and satisfaction. This study was also to investigate the effects on the mediating effects of the impulse buying tendency in the relationship between social face sensitivity and satisfaction. For this purpose, this study was conducted to 266 subjects living in Busan, Korea. And the data was analyzed by SPSS 22 and Amos 25. The results of the study were as follows. First, others conscious social face and formality social face were related to impulse buying tendency. However, shame conscious social face was partially related to impulse buying tendency. Second, suggestion impulse buying and reminder impulse buying had significant effect on satisfaction, however stimulus impulse buying and pure impulse buying had not significant effect on satisfaction. Third, the empirical results showed others conscious social face had significant positive effect on satisfaction. But, formality social face and shame conscious social face have not significant effect on satisfaction. Finally, this study also found the mediating effects of the suggestion impulse buying and reminder impulse buying in the relation between others conscious social face and satisfaction. Based on the empirical results, implications focused on the social face sensitivity, impulse buying tendency and satisfaction were discussed.

  • This study investigates the influences of the impulse buying tendency of consumers, apparel price and scarcity messages on purchasing behavior at the time of purchase on the internet. This study was comprised of 2 (impulse buying: high versus low) $\times$ 2 (price of Internet purchase products: high apparel price versus low apparel price) $\times$ 2 (scarcity message: quantity scarcity message versus time scarcity message) with three mixed elements. The subjects of this study were 400 college students in the Seoul and Gyeonggi area. A total of 95 students who had a high tendency for impulsive purchase and 104 who had a low tendency participated in the survey. Data are analyzed by factor analysis, T-test, and ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows. 1. At the time of group buying on the Internet, impulse buying tendency, apparel price, and scarcity message had a statistically significant interaction effect on consumer preferences. 2. At the time of purchase on the Internet, impulse buying tendency, apparel price, and scarcity message did not have a statistically significant interaction effect on the intention of consumers to make a purchase. However, there was a significant difference in the intention to make a purchase based on impulse buying tendency and apparel price.

  • EThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of consumers psychological characteristics, store types and impulse buying behaviors of apparels. We collected data from 469 consumers of women college student living in Pusan and analysed by factor analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, t-test and $\chi$$^2$-test. The results were as follows: First, The sensation seeking tendency consisted of the Change seeking, Risk seeking, Artistic seeking, Curiosity seeking and Unusual seeking. The exploratory behavior of apparels were divided into six factors; Particularity exploration, Innovation exploration, Store exploration, Brand royalty exploration, interpersonal exploration and brand-seeking exploration. Second, In comparison with the unimpulse-buying group, the impulse-buying group intended more then Change seeking, when apparel explored, Particularity exploration, Innovation exploration and Brand exploration. Impulse-buying group preferred the department store, unimpulse-buying group did the specialty store.

A Study on the Impulse Buying of Large Discount Store Consumers (대형할인매장 이용자의 충동구매에 관한 연구)

  • Recently a number of large discount store and those of its users was increasing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the tendency of impulse buying and analyzes factors which influence impulse buying. The data had been collected from questionaries with 474 consumers who visit large discount store. The major statistical methods used for data analysis are frequency, percentile, mean, t-test, multiple regression analysis, one-way ANOVA, and Duncans multiple range test utilizing SPSS Win pc+program. The results of this study are as follows : 1. The four different kind of impulse buying is measured. The overall level of impulse buying is 2.76. Suggestion impulse buying(M=3.19) is the highest, and the lowest is pure impulse buying(M=2.66). 2. In the area of demographic variables is significantly different in the age of twenties and thirties(p<.05). A visit frequency and membership. In the area of in-store variables is significantly different by all factors at impulse buying except waiting time. Especially, point-of-purchase(POP) advertisement and discount sale are very important variables. A visit frequency and membership are significantly different in the area of consumer-related variables. 3. Waiting time, a visit frequency, a POP advertisement, and a discount sale have the positive effects on overall impulse buying. Pure impulse buying is influenced by shopping list, POP advertisement and a stores atmospher. Buying companion, membership, kind of store and waiting time have the effect on reminder impulse buying. Suggestion impulse buying is influenced by school career, shopping list and POP advertisement. Planned impulse buying is influenced by sex, POP advertisement, buying companion and discount sale.

A Study on the Purchase Behavior and the Psychological Characteristics of the Impulse-Buying Consumers (충동구매 소비자의 구매행위와 심리적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the tendency of impulse buying behavior and the consumer psychological characteristic factors which arouse impulse purchase and the difference in exploratory behavior according to the degree of impulse buying behaviors. For this purpose existing studies on impulse buying behaviors, consumer stimulation levels and exploratory behaviors were theoretically reviewed. And field survey was carried out for this study; 353 women impulse consumers were selected by convenience sampling method. The summarized main results of this study are as follows; 1) In relative perspectives, the consumers who has high degree of impulse buying behavior was favor of sensory buying behavior but, was lack of planned and rational buying behaviro. 2) The optimal stimulation level of high-impulse consumers is higher than that of low-impulse consumers. Especially, optimal stimulation level of impulse consumers is significantly higher than their life-style stimulation level. This means that impulse consumers are consider to a stimulation seeker. 3) The high-impulse consumers have high exploration through shopping, high information seeking behavior, high interpersonal communication level, high risk taking behavior and particulary high sensory exploratory patterns in purchase exploratory behaviors than that of low-impulse consumers.

Effect of Information Source, Sales Promotion Type, and Impulse Buying Tendency Characteristics on Fashion Live Commerce Purchase Intention (정보원 특성, 판매촉진유형, 충동구매성향이 패션 라이브커머스 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • As live commerce, mobile sales platforms based on real-time content and text are drawing attention as a new marketing channel. In particular, the fashion industry also using live commerce as a new fashion distribution channel, requiring marketing strategies to utilize it efficiently. This study attempted to verify the effect of information source, sales promotion, and impulse buying tendency characteristics on fashion live commerce purchase intention. The experimental design of this study was 2(characteristics of information source: expertise vs attractiveness) × 2(sales promotion type: value-added vs price discount) × 2(impulse buying tendency: high vs low) three-way mixed analysis of variance(ANOVA). A convenience sampling of 264 women in their 20s and 50s living in Seoul and the Gyeonggi area who had purchased products through Live Commerce was conducted. For the final analysis, 240 questionnaires were used. Data were analyzed by the SPSS 26 program and three-way ANOVA. Simple main effects analysis was conducted. The results of this study follow. First, there were statistically significant differences in purchase intention according to consumers' impulse buying tendencies and sales promotions. Second, information source and sales promotion showed statistically significant interaction effects on purchase intention. Lastly, information source, sales promotion, and impulse buying tendency showed significant three-way interaction effects on fashion live commerce purchase intention. Therefore, conducting appropriate marketing analysis can result in positive attitudes regarding live commerce products and substantive increases in sales.

The Mediating Effects of Self-Control on the Relationship between Academic Stress and Impulse Buying Tendency of Nursing University Student (간호대학생의 학업스트레스와 충동구매 경향성 간의 관계에 대한 자기통제력의 매개효과)

  • The aim of this study was to explain the mediating effects of self-control in the relationship between academic stress and impulse buying tendency. Participants were recruited from one nursing university student located in Gwangju and J city. Data were collected from 145 nursing university student. The SPSS WIN 23.0 version was used with Sobel test and Baron and Kenny's mediating effect. It was investigated whether there was a mediating effect of self-control on academic stress and impulse buying tendency. First, academic stress showed a significant effect on impulse buying tendency. Second, Self-control had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between academic stress and impulse buying tendency(z=-2.69, p<.001). To reduce the impulse buying tendency among nursing university student, it is necessary to develop education·non-education interventions that promotion self-control in addition to decreasing academic stress.

Effects of Consumer Tendencies and Positive Emotion on Impulse Buying Behavior for Apparel (의류제품 충동구매행동에 대한 소비자성향과 긍정적 감정 영향)

  • This study tested how impulse buying behavior for apparel was related to hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies and emotion in the context of shopping. A total of 290 self-administered questionnaires were obtained from college students during scheduled classes. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated for examining the relationships among consumer tendencies of hedonic consumption and impulse buying, positive emotion, and impulse buying behaviors by LISREL 8.53. Findings showed that impulse buying behaviors for apparel could be classified into planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying typologies. Hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies had significant effects on positive emotion. Positive emotion had a significant effect on planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying for apparel. This study suggests that positive emotion plays an important role in determining impulse buying behaviors relevant to hedonic and impulse buying tendencies. Managerial implications for apparel retailers are discussed.
