The speed of the reformation of the Korean engineering and science education systems is very slow compared with the fast change of the society. Current society requires colleges to raise high quality gold color engineers, who can feed tens of thousands people, however current education system cannot fulfill the requirement. So we need a novel education system to adapt the fast change of the society. In this study, we analyzed the difference of the education quality between supplies and demands, and based on the analysis, we suggested a new continuous quality improving system. We also collected current data on the student capability of Korean engineering freshmen and surveyed on the required vocational basic skills. Finally we suggested some programs with that the government could support improving the quality of engineering and science college students.

This paper addresses the problem of how to effectively use virtual reality(VR) for improving the quality of safety training systems. As the working environment and the working system in the industry are more and more complex and large-scaled, the concern with system safety is accordingly growing. Safety training systems are regarded as an effective way for increasing workers' interest in system safety and enhancing their ability of preventing and handling accidents/incidents. Recently, it has been reported that VR would be effectively used for improving the quality of safety training systems, with its technically specialized features. However, little attention has been given to the problem of how to effectively use VR for safety training systems. In order to make the best use of new technology such as VR, it is important to examine its advantages and disadvantages and the contexts to which its use can be beneficial. This paper firstly reviews the current status of safety training systems and the use of VR for safety training systems in the inside and outside of the country. Next, we summarize the interview with safety managers in four manufacturing companies, which was conducted to understand the requirements of stake-holders of the issue. Based on the review and the interview, we suggested the ways of using VR in safety training systems in an effective manner. They are described from the four perspectives: development and maintenance cost, lack of specialized workers, design of accident scenarios used with VR, and empirical demonstration of the effectiveness of VR in safety training.

This study was conducted to reconstitute a family life education program for caregivers and to analyze the system of implementation. Based largely on a pre-existing program for caregiving families, I developed a new educational program. Personal time management and personal needs management were added in the content of the program order to help enhance self-esteem and internal control. The reconstituted educational program, which consists of 6 sessions, was implemented on a small group of caregivers in Jeollabukdo Province who support their elderly parents. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by a pre-test, a post-test, a follow-up test and open-questionnaire reports. The results from the post-test suggest that the program has been effective in improving the knowledge on aging process, internal control and self-esteem. But the follow-up test results show the program has been effective only in improving the knowledge on aging process. According to the open-questionnaire reports, the program seems to have been effective in improving interpersonal relationships and changing attitudes toward their elderly parents.

For a reliable fingerprinting system, improving fingerprint matching accuracy is crucial. In this paper, we try to improve a binary image fingerprint matching performance by utilizing auxiliary information, power mask, which is obtained while constructing fingerprint DB. The power mask is an expected robustness of each fingerprint bit. A caveat of the power mask is the increased storage cost of the fingerprint DB. This paper mitigates the problem by reducing the size of the power mask utilizing spatial correlation of an image. Experiments on a publicly-available image dataset confirmed that the power mask is effective in improving fingerprint matching accuracy.

This paper presents the test and operation results of the domestic demonstration of the reactive power compensation device called STATCOM (STATic COMpensator). The object of the paper is to describe the reliability of the unit based on the extensive operation databases. By controlling reactive power, the technology offers utilities the opportunity for increased efficiency and their capabilities will permit transmission planners make the best use of their existing transmission resources STATCOM is a custom power device in a way and can be used in a similar way for the dynamic compensation of power transmission systems, mitigation of voltage flicker and improving the power factor. It is shown that the STATCOM has clear advantages in areas such as: mitigation of voltage flicker and improving power factor.

Biotechnology will play critical role in improving animal productivity. Animal growth rate and muscle deposition potential can be greatly improved by the application of biotechnology and biotechnological products. Administration of recombinant somatotropin (ST) or other compounds such as IGF-1 and growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs) can enhance growth rate and carcass lean percentage. Gene transfer offers a powerful approach to manipulate endocrine system and metabolic pathways toward faster growth and better feed efficiency. Biotechnology is also extensively used for improving metabolism and activity of gut microorganisms for better nutrient digestibility. Knockout of growth-inhibiting genes such as myostatin results in considerable acceleration of body weight and muscle growth. Animal growth can also be improved by the use of gene therapy. Immunomodulation is another approach for efficient growth through controlling the activity of endogenous anabolic hormones. All the above aspects will be discussed in this review.

Purpose: This paper proposes S-NS diagram. S-NS diagram helps us find core factors which improve customer satisfaction. Methods: S-NS diagram draws a scatter diagram based on marks obtained from surveys consisting of several questions on satisfaction and non-satisfaction at the same time. S-NS diagram is divided into the 4 regions. We focused on region B which is High satisfaction and high non-satisfaction shown in S-NS diagram. Region B is the areas for needs to improve. Results: S-NS diagram can find few important factors which affect customer satisfaction. We improve Lecture Satisfaction using S-NS Diagram. Conclusion: S-NS diagram has been proven to be an effective method for improving customer satisfaction with a lecture satisfaction improvement example. We know S-NS diagram can use many fields including manufacture and service areas.

The change of the transportation circumstance related to the deep environmental pollution, escalation of the energy price, increasing social cost of the congestion and traffic accident, improving a income level, advanced social structure etc, is rapidly proceeded. For the corresponding this transportation circumstance, the role of the railway is being increased and that is friendly with environment, efficient for the energy, observed the time schedule and the transportation device which is high speed and safe mass transportation. In addition, government's R&D investment is being increased according to deeping a strength of the international competitiveness through the technical innovation. So railway's R&D investment is being increased. Accordingly, This study suggest improving a fruit of the R&D related to railway R&D system for a efficient R&D investment.

This paper proposes a new multipath interconnection network(MIN) structure for improving performance which uses widely in the design of multiprocessing, ATM system and VOD server. For improving performance such as passthrough ratio and packet latency, it proposes new routing method which routes one of the collided packets into the i+1-th switching stage of the adding Banyan MIN network when it occurred collision at the i-th switching stage of the basic MIN again when they collide each other. The new improved performance MIN network has been compared with MBSF, TBSF and PBSF structured MIN network from the viewpoint of passthrough ratio and the number of switching stage vs. passthrough ratio. It is shown to improve a performance and to be a simple structure which reducing the number of switching stage of adding MIN in comparison with other structured MIN including TBSF.

This study analyzes the necessity and situation of the improvement of housing quality control system for the consumer. we find several defeats of the Housing Quality Control System in Korea. Especially there is no any organization that manange the total housing quality control. So this study suggest the home warranty system should be established as soon as possible for protectings home-buyers and improving housing quality.
