This study was attempted to develop the eletronic-hydraulic hitch system for controlling the attitude of tractor implements and to investigate control performance of the system through experiments. Main components of the system developed in this study were reference inputs panel, inclination angle detecter, electronic controller consisted of IBM-AT PC and interfaces, electro-hydraulic directional valves and other hydraulic components and three-point hitch linkage. Experiments were carried out to investigate the response of the system to the step and sine inputs. The effects of hydraulic flow rate and dead band on control performance were analized. Attitude of the implement was controlled within 2.4-5.1 degrees to the setting attitude when the hydraulic flow rate was in the range of $0.25-1.5{\ell}/min$. And implement was controlled without rapid amplitude attenuation and phase angle change in the frequency range of 0.02-0.2Hz when the hydraulic flow rate was in the range of $0.25-1.5{\ell}/min$. Control performance of the system can be expected to be improved if the inclination angle detecter show rapid and stable output as the implement moves.
These experiments were carried out to develop new techniques for In Vitro separatin of X-and Y-bearing spermatozoa. The bull semen was applied to the various Gel-Columns filled with swellen Sephadex G-50 Fine and then elutriated wtih Locke solution (elutriation rate; 1ml/3-4min., 1ml/1-2min.). Elutriated solution was fractionated into 1ml by automatic Fraction Collector and spermatozoa included in each fraction were subjected to the estimation of viability and recovery rate, and to B-body test. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows: 1. When the column size and the elutriation rate were adjusted to 15$\times$1.6cm and 1ml/3-4min., respectively, the highest sperm concentration was obtained from the 8th to the 12th fraction. 2. As a trend, the viability of spermatozoa was improved by chromatography, and the degree of improvement ranged 5 to 10 percentage. 3. The average recovery rate of spermatozoa applied to column was 73.2 percentage and ranged 52.6 to 81.3 percentage. 4. The lowest rate of B-body bearing spermatozoa following chromatography was obtained when the column size and the elutriation rate were adjusted to 15$\times$0.8cm and 1ml/1-2min., respectively.
This paper reports the results of a recent experimental study into the behavior of welded fin-plate connections to both hollow and concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns under shear. Experiments have been performed at both ambient and elevated temperatures with the aid of an electric kiln. The observed failure modes include fracture of the fin plate and tearing out of the tube around the welds. By considering the results of previously published research, the current design method for similar connections under purely tensile load, in CIDECT Guide 9, based on a deformation limit of 3% of the tube width is shown to be inadequate when evaluating the ultimate strength of such connections. By comparing the results from the current test program which failed in the fin-plate with Eurocode guidance for failure of a fin-plate alone under shear and bending load it is shown that the column face influences the overall connection strength regardless of failure mode. Concrete in-fill is observed to significantly increase the strength of connections over empty specimens, and circular column specimens were observed to exhibit greater strength than similarly proportioned square columns. A finite element (F.E.) model, developed using ABAQUS, is presented and validated against the experimental results in order that extensive parametric tests may be subsequently performed. When validating the model against elevated temperature tests it was found that using reduction factors suggested in published research for the specific steel grades improved results over applying the generic Eurocode elevated temperature steel strength reduction factors.
Concrete has three major properties after a penetration-reinforcing agent is applied on its surface. First, the durability is improved by the sol-gel process of synthesized material from the polycondensation of TEOS (tetra-ethoxyorthosilicate) and acrylate monomer. Second, the capability to absorb impact energy is reinforced through the formation of a soft and flexible layer of organic monomers by Tea (Tetra Ethyl Amin). Third, the capability to prevent deterioration is enhanced by adding isobutyl-orthosilicate and alcohol. The performance and application of an agent developed through the synthesis of organic and inorganic material in an effort to prevent concrete from deterioration and improve the durability of concrete structures were verified in diverse experiments. The results of these experiments showed that the application of the proposed penetration-reinforcing agent has the effect of increasing the compressive strength by filling up the internal pores of concrete with physically and chemically stable compounds after penetrating the concrete. It also improves the durability against the deterioration factors such as salt water damage, carbonation, freezing and thawing, and compound deterioration. Therefore, it is confirmed that the penetration-reinforcing agent is a useful substance for the management and repair of concrete structures.
The drawability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated at various temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350, $400^{\circ}C$), forming speeds (20, 50, 100mm/min), thicknesses (0.8, 1.4mm) and blank holding forces (2.0, 2.8, 3.4kN). The deep drawing process (DDP) of circular cup is used in forming experiments. The results of deep drawing experiments show that the drawability is well at the range from 250 to $300^{\circ}C$, 50mm/min forming speed and 2.0kN blank holding force. The 0.8mm magnesium sheets were deformed better than 1.4 mm. Blank holding force was controlled in order to improve drawability and prevent the change of cup thickness. When blank holding force was controlled, tearing and thickness change were decreased and limit drawing ratio was improved from 2.1 to 3.0.
This study focused on the effects of ultrasonic vibration on a machined surface of Al6061 material in the endmill cutting process. It is known that ultrasonic vibration greatly increases the efficiency of the machining process when cutting or grinding. An ultrasonic vibration table was developed for application to ultrasonic vibration endmill machining experiments.Inthisstudy, the surface roughness and actual depth of the cut measured confirm the effects of ultrasonic vibration. As a result of the experiments, the actual depth of the cut increased during endmill machining when using ultrasonic vibration. The surface roughness was improved with increases in the amplitude of the vibration and the depth of the cut.
This paper focused on the design of an efficient temperature controller for a plant with a wide range of operating temperatures. The greater the temperature difference a plant has, the larger the nonlinearity it is exposed to in terms of heat transfer. For this reason, we divided the temperature range into five sections, and each was modeled using ARMAX(auto regressive moving average exogenous). The movement of the dominant poles of the sliced system was analyzed and, based on the variation in the system parameters with temperature, optimal control parameters were obtained through simulation and experiments. From the configurations for each section of the temperature range, a temperature-based gain-scheduled controller (TBGSC) was designed for parameter variation of the plant. Experiments showed that the TBGSC resulted in improved performance compared with an existing proportional integral derivative (PID) controller.
In this paper, experimental methods to find acoustic characteristics of acoustically treated air-conditioning duct system are proposed. Existing methods to analyze acoustic properties of duct with absorbent material have a dilemma which has to assume the wave in duct to be a plane wave. Under this assumption, applicable frequency limitation makes accurate analysis of practical air-conditioning system impossible. In order to analyze the properties of in-lined treated absorbent with high degree of accuracy, in this experiments the range of exciting frequency of sound source is broadband, which means that source speaker excites higher mode of in-duct sound field. Also, to define the relations of air cavity to the acoustic characteristics, acoustic experiments on ducts with air cavity of different depth are operated. In conclusion, air-cavity makes the absorbing ability of duct improved in low frequency range. Due to the interactions between the air cavity depth and the depth of absorbents, according to depth of cavity, the magnitude of absorption coefficients vs frequencies in specific range is changed. In lower frequency range, the absorption of sound energy by air cavity is more dominant than by absorbent itself, in higher range, the inversion is true.
This paper is devoted to yarn tension control problem in winding machines. The passive take-up unit is replaced by active one with ADRC(Active Disturbance Rejection Control) and it was compared with the method using conventional PD(Proportional-Derivative) controller. The main part of ADRC is ESO(Extended State Observer) which continuously estimates nonlinearities of the system, such as intrinsic nonlinearity, external disturbance and sensor noise. Then the estimated nonlinearity is used to compensate the real one, thus making controlled system linear. A number of experiments have been conducted in order to verify the performance of the original winding system to the modified one. Experiments have shown improved efficiency of the system with adopting active yarn tension control. Experimental results show that the ADRC achieves a better tension response than PD controller and is robust to parameters variation.
The development of overload management systems for distribution transformers offers new opportunities for improving the reliability of distribution systems. It allows network planners to optimize the system resource utilization and investment cost. Such an improvement in the flexibility of the distribution network is only possible if the operator has more accurate knowledge of the realtime conditions of distribution transformers. In this paper, we present an improved overload decision system for distribution transformers using realtime monitoring data. Our study can be categorized into two parts: (a) improvement in the criteria for judging the overload conditions of distribution transformers and (b) development of an overload evaluation system using realtime monitoring data. In order to determine the overload criteria, overload experiments are performed on sample transformers; the results of these experiments are used to define the relationship between the transformer overload and the increase in the top-oil temperature. To verify the accuracy of the experimental results, field tests are performed using specially manufactured transformers, the loads and top-oil temperatures of which can be measured. For arriving at online overload decisions, we propose methods whereby the measured load curve can be converted into an overload characteristic curve and the overload time can be calculated for any load condition. The developed system is able to evaluate the overload for individual distribution transformers and calculate the losses using realtime monitoring data.
