The paper presents a cost effective and increased performance position servo system using the TMS320F240 digital signal processor (DSP) produced by Texas Instruments as microprocessor and Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDCM) as executor. In order to make up for the drawback of conventional PID controls, the fuzzy PID is employed. The result of simulations and experiments has confirmed that the whole system is simple and reliable; the robustness of system is improved by using fuzzy PID.

Electrostatic spraying is needed for today's sustainable farming. An electrostatic spraying nozzle was developed and its spraying performance was evaluated. High voltages of 15㎸, 20㎸, and 25㎸ were supplied for the electrostatic electrode. Artificial and real apple targets were used for the spraying experiments. Insulated material was used around the electrode to protect the loss of electrostatic effect. Three angles (0, 45, 90 degree) of spraying direction were used for the spraying test. The performance of electrostatic spraying was improved from 204.5% upto 429.2% on the apple targets.

DSTATCOM(distribution static compensator) is one of the custom power devices, and protects a distribution line from unbalanced and harmonic current caused by non-linear and unbalanced loads. Researches about DSTATCOM are mainly divided two parts, one is the calculation of compensated current and the other part is the current control. This paper proposes a proportional-resonant-repetitive current controller. Improved performance of instantaneous power compensation has been shown by simulations and experiments.

A improving sensorless compensator for the IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) drive system is proposed. Generally, the motor drive system is required the robust parameter variation and disturbance. The speed estimation methods of the conventional IRP(Instantaneous Reactive Power) compensator is improved by the speed estimation techniques of the current model observer with the proposed instantaneous reactive power compensator. Performance evaluations of the novel speed error compensator and sensorless control system are carried out by the experiments.

Fluorescent lamp converts electrical energy Into light energy. Generally we use both electronic ballast and glow starter method in the house. We developed 40W electronic starter and its characteristic is verified by experiments. The efficiency of ballast is improved by using the LC Parallel reasonance circuit at input stage and LC series reasonance circuit at out-put stage.

In this paper, we propose a speech recognition method based on independent component analysis (ICA) and spectral enhancement techniques. While ICA tris to separate speech signal from noisy speech using multiple channels, some noise remains by its algorithmic limitations. Spectral enhancement techniques can compensate for lack of ICA's signal separation ability. From the speech recognition experiments with instantaneous and convolved mixing environments, we show that the proposed approach gives much improved recognition accuracies than conventional methods.

Homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion with multiple-injection strategy using dimethyl-ether was investigated in a single cylinder direct-injection compression-ignition engine. The combustion performance and exhaust emissions were tested by varying the post injection conditions. The experiments were carried out under low load and low speed conditions. By the late post injection near the top dead center, the combustion phase was retarded and lengthened, and the fuel conversion efficiencies improved without the drawbacks of exhaust emissions increment.

This paper develops an AC motor controller for applications. The AC motor controller is designed based on the variable structure control method and a variable structure disturbance observer is added to reduce the effects of exogenous disturbances. The designed controller is installed on the z-axis of a CNC machining center and milling experiments were performed. The results show improved performance on both position and speed tracking, when compared to the factory-designed servo controller.

In this paper, we present a single framework based on GMM for speaker recognition. The proposed framework can simultaneously minimize environmental variations on mismatched conditions and adapt the bias free and speaker-dependent characteristics of claimant utterances to the background GMM to create a speaker model. We compare the closed-set speaker identification for conventional method and the proposed method both on TIMIT and NTIMIT. In the several sets of experiments we show the improved recognition rates on a simulated channel and a telephone channel condition by 7.2% and 27.4% respectively.
