  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of religious habits and hair styles on korean catholic sister's impression. The subject consisted of 256 female high school students and 256 female undergraduated students The experimental materials developed for this study were 16 color photographs stimuli of drawing and 7-point semantic differential scale composed of 30 bipolar adjectives representing personal traits. The major findings drawn from this study were as follows: 1) Four factors emerged to account for the dimentional structure of the impression of the Korean catholic sister's in religious habits. Four factors involved purity, formality, potency, appearance. 2) The clothing types and hair styles had significant effect on purity, formality, potency, appearance. The clothing types had an effect on purity, formality and potency while the hair styles affected formality. 3) Perceiver's age influenced impressions formed by clothing and hair styles. Female high school students were affected by clothing and hair styles in formality, potency, appearance while female undergraduate students in purity, formality, potency. Therefore the religious habits and hair styles had significant effect on korean catholic women's impression of purity, formality, potency, appearance and impression formation was varied according to perceiver's age.

  • The goal of this study was to explore the use of multiple SNS platforms and determine whether the number of used platforms affects one's online self-presentations across the said platforms and if there is any difference in one's online and offline self-presentations based on how many SNS platforms are used. This work studied online self-presentations, compared the on/offline ones and tried to find out if the inconsistencies of one's own (observer's) self-presentations both online (across platforms) and on/offline affected the observer's impression formation (likability, trustworthiness and hypocrisy) of others. The study also aimed to find out if the impression of the others' inconsistency both online and offline would differ based on the level of intimacy between the observer and the discussant. Three levels of intimacy were studied in order to do this: friends, acquaintances and strangers (online-only friends). The results showed that the more platforms people used the more inconsistent their online self-presentations got. Even though the results of the study showed barely significant relationship between the number of SNS accounts and one's online and offline self-presentation, and partial connection between observer's inconsistent self-presentations and impression formation of others, interestingly enough, the results managed to find significant differences between the impressions based on the level of intimacy between the observer and the discussants.

  • PURPOSE. The present study compared the accuracy between digital and conventional implant impressions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The experimental models were divided into six groups depending on the implant location and the scanning span. Digital impressions were captured using the intraoral optical scanner TRIOS (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark). Conventional impressions were taken with the monophase impression material based on addition-cured silicones, Honigum-Mono (DMG, Hamburg, Germany). A high-precision laboratory scanner D900 (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) was used to obtain digital data of resin models and stone casts. Surface tessellation language (STL) datasets from scanner were imported into the analysis software Geomagic Qualify 14 (3D Systems, Rock Hill, SC, USA), and scan body deviations were determined through two-dimensional and three-dimensional analyses. Each scan body was measured five times. The Sidak t test was used to analyze the experimental data. RESULTS. Implant position and scanning distance affected the impression accuracy. For a unilateral arch implant and the mandible models with two implants, no significant difference was observed in the accuracy between the digital and conventional implant impressions on scan bodies; however, the corresponding differences for trans-arch implants and mandible with six implants were extremely significant (P<.001). CONCLUSION. For short-span scanning, the accuracy of digital and conventional implant impressions did not differ significantly. For long-span scanning, the precision of digital impressions was significantly inferior to that of the traditional impressions.

  • Cases involving bite marks have increased considerably since first reports of bite wound for the individual identification in Korea 1969. This is probably due to fact that investigating officers are now more aware of the value of bite mark evidence and are always alter to the possibility of sign of bite mark. Authors recently had an experience in the identification of a criminal by tracing marks made on silicon rubber impression from corp genital organ.

  • The purpose of this paper was to provide an overview of the existing literature on online visual merchandising and to propose an alternative theoretical framework in which online visual merchandising research can be conducted. Two streams of research including the e-tail service quality literature and the store environment literature from environmental psychology perspectives were reviewed in the context of online visual merchandising. An impression formation paradigm from social psychology was adopted to establish the alternative framework to supplement the existing online visual merchandising research and generate deeper insights into the online visual merchandising phenomenon.

  • Non-verbal information plays an important role not only in human-to-human communications but also in human computer interaction. In this paper, we examine effects of human-like agent's primitive movements on user's impression, where the human-like agent's primitive movements include eye, mouth, and head. SD (Semantic Differential) method was used for evaluation, and two factors were extracted as a result of the factor analysis. It is found that the first factor influenced the user's impression particularly.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the Korean adults' impressions of the SET(scientist-engineer-technician). The concept of impression is assumed to reflect our significant view of an object better than that of image. That is, the basic assumption is that we tend to behave toward an object, based on its impression which is conceived to be "significant." In September 1999, a national survey for 1,161 sampled adults was conducted to find the Korean general public's impressions of the SET. In addition, a sample of 206 SET persons were surveyed for comparison. Our major finding is that the Korean public has such a good impression that the SET contributes to advanced technology development and human well-being, is very smart and professional, and conducts research and experiment. Many other relevant things such as sources of impression and evaluations of SET professions were also surveyed. Finally, some policy-related implications based on survey results were presented at the end.t the end.

  • Even though an immediate denture (ID) is a practical prosthesis, fabricating an ID may be challenging, as unexpected removals of periodontally compromised teeth may occur during an impression procedure. This clinical report introduces a digital approach to a maxillary ID. An intraoral scanner was applied to prevent accidental extraction. A physical cast and a resin pattern of a framework were fabricated with rapid prototyping technology. A proper border and retention was also achieved by an altered cast impression.

  • Presented in this paper is an adaptive measuring procedure of dental impression using the Structured Light System. While measuring a complex object, such as dental impression, in the reverse engineering, it is not possible to acquire all parts of the scanned surface. Missing scanned data is resulted in holes in a created triangular mesh. The focus of this paper is to introduce an algorithm for automatic identification of additional scanning orientations to fill holes that are created by a default scan. The proposed algorithm was developed by the three major technological requirements: camera visibility, projector visibility, data reliability. In order to satisfy the requirements, the proposed algorithm determines additional scanning orientation from the orientation of a projection plane derived from the average normal vector of boundary triangles.

  • An optical system which can autonomously form and display an impression of a picture made up by many figures has been developed. This system consists of optical fuzzy-neurons which calculate the correlation between the input picture and the reference image by incoherent optics. The calculated signal is applied to an amplifier whereby the output signal increases, then decreases according to increase of the input signal . These outputs are synthesized, and are used for changing the position where the system gaze on a part of the input picture by light beam. In this system, the light intensity used for gazing changes chaotically, The attractor drawn from the change of light intensity corresponds to the impression of the picture. This paper shows the results that are calculated by the numerical simulation. The system has been simulated to express the impression for a picture formed by 4figures.
