The experiment was carried out to investigate the adaptability of freezing process with thirteen strawberry varieties cultivated in Suwon, Pusan and Chunju area. Six of these were local varieties and the others were varieties imported from the United States of America. Each strawberries variety was analysed chemically to determine value of soluble solids, acidity (calculated as citric acid) and deepness of color. Frozen products were prepared by a general method adding sugar to $28^{\circ}\;Brix$. Local varieties Haengok, Bokuh, Keikwan and Daehak No. 1 were not suitable for making into frozen products because of excessive white color in their centers. Blakemore, an imported variety, was best as to color. Chemical analysis showed that imported varieties have higher acidity, and lower content of soluble solids. In a sensory test conducted by fifteen members of Agriculture and Fishery Development Corporation, deeper colors of strawberries did not receive a generally favorable response, and it was found that strawberry colors favored by the America were not liked by Korean well.
The twelve species of Scolytidae and six species of Platypodidae were recognized from imported logs at Incheon, Gunsan and Busan ports. One species, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) of Scolytidae was identified from coffee bean. These species were not reported before from imported logs and seeds. Sixteen seed samples of nine vegetable crops imported from Japan were tested for plant quarantine by routine methods of seed health testing. Nineteen species of fungi including Alternara alternata were identified from the seed samples. Some species were very frequently detected in the seeds. In this experiment, Verticillium albo-atrum, V. dahliae and Macrophomina sp. from the seeds of spinach, and Cercospora capsici, Drechslera hawaiiensis and V. albo-atrum from the seeds of sweet pepper were detected for the first time, respectively. It has been reported that they had a pathogenicity on some vegetable crops in Japan and other countries. The data suggest that an epidemic damage may be occurred if the infected seeds are sown and cultivated in Korea.
The purpose of this study were to investigate the influences of fashion leadership on consumers'evaluation of domestic and imported perfume product, and perfume purchasing behaviors and to find out the demographics and consumer value on fashion leadership. The data were collected from 369 female college students using questionnaire. The results were as follows: First, there were significant differences on consumers'evaluation of domestic and imported perfume product between the groups on fashion leadership. The higher the fashion leadership, the much positive consumers'evaluation of imported perfume product. Second, Fashion leaders'the frequency of perfume usage and the pieces of perfume product were higher than fashion followers. The most important perfume attribute of all groups was scent, and fashion leader took the much significant view of brand name than fashion followers. Third, Fashion leaders'economical level and pleasure oriented value was higher than fashion followers.
This study was carried out to some properties and curring effect of drip obtained from frozen-thawed park loin ham belly and imported belly by thawing process at 4$^{\circ}C$. Moisture content and pH value of drips were 88.05~90.85% and 5,72~6.05 and do not show significant differences between each samples. Protein contents were 11.07, 8.85, 8,76 and8,13% in the drips from domestic pork loin, ham, belly and imported belly, respectively. Approximately 99% of the drip were constituted with moisture and protein in any part of domestic pork and imported belly. Glutamic acid proline glycine, alanine and lysine were the predominant amino acid in the drips. Curing process of the drip by nitrite increased the pH value and total amino acid content. The residual nitrite decreased during the period of curing and total plate counts in drip with nitrite did not reach 1$\times$105CFU/g until 7 days.

Purpose - This study aims to offer the suggestions for the researches and policies that could be used as important data to effectuate future FTA. The objective of this study is to suggest a direction of Korea that can form a new logistics hub in Northeast Asia. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was conducted in parallel with literature review and empirical studies for the analysis. 180 valid samples were collected from Korean consumers', and qualitative analysis was employed on the satisfaction level of imported goods welfare of Korean consumers. Results - It is expected that Korea and China would experience increased opportunity factors in this area with the growth of economic sphere in Northeast Asian. If existing problems are solved by utilizing regional environment efficiently together, the hub function of Northeast Asia logistics will be advanced. Conclusions - Korea is introducing and operating special economic zones that provide the exception and support for foreign investment. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the prices of imported goods, so that the exporters can adjust the prices and obtain the unjust profit equivalent to the tariff reduction by grasping the overseas market trends of the imported product prices.
For more efficient and proactive safety control of imported food, new trend in U.S. is emerging, which assesses the food safety control systems of exporting countries using Systems Recognition Assessment Tool and helps ensure safety of imported foods. This study examines trends in development and application of assessmemnt tool and country assessment reports in U.S. where an active discussion on this issue is in progress. The expert interviews were also conducted. U.S. Systems Recognition Assessment Tool was developed by FDA to recognize the potential value in leveraging the expertise of foreign food safety systems and help ensure safety of imported food. The tool is comprised of ten standards and provides an objective framework for determining the robustness of trading partners' overall food safety systems. Using its own tool, the U.S. FDA conducted a preliminary assessment of the food safety control systems of New Zealand and Canada. According to the U.S.-New Zealand and the U.S.-Canada assessment reports, the overall structure of the systems was similar between the countries. In summarizing the opinions of experts, such a trend in National Food Safety Control System Assessment may be utilized in the sanitary assessment and the control of imported food border inspection frequency before importing food. It would contribute to more effective distribution of national budget and increased public trust. Additionally, international collaboration as well as securing of qualified experts and sufficient budget appear to be crucial to further increase the utility of National Food Safety Control Systems Assessment. In conclusion, firstly, it is critically important for the competent authority of South Korea to proactively respond to international trend in National Food Safety Control System Assessment by identifying the details of its background, assessment purpose, core assessment elements, and assessment procedures. Secondly, it is necessary to identify and complement the weaknesses of Korea's food safety control system by reviewing it with U.S. Systems Recognition Assessment Tool. Thirdly, by adapting the assessment results from imported countries' food safety control systems to the imported food inspection intensity, the resources previously used in inspecting the imported food from accredited countries can be redistributed to inspecting the imported food from unaccredited countries, and it would contribute to more efficient imported food safety control. Fourthly, the competent authority of South Korea should also consider developing its own assessment tool designed to reflect the unique characteristics of its food safety control system and international guidelines.

Purpose: Misfit of implant components was very important in terms of prosthodontics. they has been linked to prosthetic complications such as screw loosening and fracture. Although there are many results about rotational freedom or machining tolerance between fixture and abutments, the data about domestic implant systems are lacking. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the rotational freedom of domestic external and internal connection implant systems between their fixtures/anlaogs and abutments comparing imported systems. Materials and Methods: Rotational freedom between abutments and fixtures/analogs was investigated by using digitalized rotational angle measuring device. (1) 1 domestic external connection system(Neobiotec) and 2 imported external connection systems(Nobel Biocare, Anthorgyr), (2) 1 domestic internal connection system(Dentium) and 4 imported external connection systems(Nobel Biocare, Anthorgyr, Straumann, Frident Dentsply), and (3) 1 domestic zirconia external connection abutment(ZirAce) were evaluated. Each group has 3 samples. Mean values for each group were analyzed. Results: The differences relative to rotational freedom between domestic and imported implant systems were observed but domestic external connection implant system showed about 2.67 degrees(in case of fixture) and internal connection system showed about 4.3 degrees(in case of fixture). Domestic zirconia abutment showed less than 3 degrees of rotational freedom in a situation where the abutment was connected to an implant fixture egardless of domestic or imported systems. Conclusion: Newly developed digitalized rotational angle measuring device has high measuring resolution. The rotational freedom of domestic implant systems were similar to imported implant systems.
The main objective of this study is to analyze problems of the Country of Origin Labeling(COOL) in small live fish(SLF) trade by applying the asymmetric information theory which is called ${\ulcorner}$Lemon Market Theory${\lrcorner}$. The purpose of importing SLF is to enhance fishing household income and import substitution effect as well. SLF importation is quite different in its nature from importing general fish and fish products for final/direct consumption. SLF are imported for the purpose of domestic aquaculture and naturalization where domestic production/supply of SLF is less than domestic demand for or such species are not native to Korean waters. Information asymmetric problems arise even in SLF trade as the same way in general goods and services. However, the information asymmetry issues in SLF trade are much more complex than non-living goods because SLF are traded in the live state. To alleviate such problems the Korean government initiated the general COOL scheme to imported SLF. However, many experts argues that such policy on SLF would not be appropriate because of SLF's very nature. Applying the lemon market theory, we can analyze how information discovery schemes are able to signal correct information to SLF trading parties and to result in more symmetric information in SLF trade markets. This research carried out a case study about small live eel(SLF) trade and its farming. The results showed that applying the COOL to small live eels just right upon coming into fish farms tends to increase substantially fish farmer's income and at the same time to lower unnecessary transaction costs. In particular, such transaction costs by imposing simply the general COOL on SLF may easily outweigh its benefits. For instance, to resolve the problems, the Korean ministry of agriculture and forestry(KMAF) has developed a quite different COOL rules from the general ones and has applied them to imported live cattle and medium/small livestocks. The KMAF's differentiated COOL policy on some imported livestocks may be a good case which can be applied to imported SLF. In addition to the differentiated COOL on SLF, Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and traceability system would play crucial complementary roles in alleviating information asymmetry problems in SLF trade. Advanced fisheries tend to strengthen their SPS system rather than to adopt the general comprehensive COOL schemes into imported SLF trades and domestic market exchanges.

On-site survey on glue-laminated board (GLB) manufacturers of Malaysia, Indonesia, and China was conducted to identify the cause of interception of regulated pest from imported GLBs from those countries, and to suggest optimal manufacturing processes of GLB for preventing quarantine risk associated with imported GLBs. The cause of pest interception was improper manufacturing processes, such as air drying or inadequate kiln drying of green laminae, improper storage of dried laminae before finger jointing and edge gluing, and/or incomplete packing of GLBs. In particular, Paulownia GLB manufacturing processes used in China, including air drying of laminae, were mostly poor in terms of preventing quarantine risk associated with imported GLBs. From now on, for preventing quarantine risk associated with imported GLBs, importers have to ask foreign manufacturers spontaneously to use proper manufacturing processes (adequate kiln drying of green laminae, proper storage of dried laminae, and complete packaging of final GLBs).
