Job Description of Nurses in Central Supply Department using DACUM Technique (데이컴 기법을 이용한 중앙공급 간호사의 직무분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to use the DACUM analysis technique and identify the job description among nurses of the Central Supply Department, in order to clarify their duty and task descriptions, identify the characteristics of job. Methods: Through a DACUM workshop, job descriptions, and the job duties and tasks were derived. A total of 150 nurses from the Central Supply Departments of medical Institutions over 100 beds were surveyed using drafting and a job analysis table. Individual jobs' frequency, importance and difficulty were measured using a 3-point scale, and the results were analyzed using SPSS. Results: The nurses' job in the Central Supply Department consisted of 13 duties and 64 tasks. Duties with highest importance and difficulty was 'sterilization assurance system', the second was 'employee safety management' and the duty with highest frequency was 'manage packaging before sterilization'. Conclusion: This study clarified the types of nursing jobs in the Central Supply Departments, as well as identified the job characteristics and status in the given setting. Given the sterilization assurance system for preventing hospital infection, and safety management for ensuring work environment safe were found to be important duties, it is suggested for the department to stress those important jobs for managing hospital safety.

  • Purpose: This study was done to analyze the job of clinical research coordinators (CRCs). Methods: Through the "developing a curriculum (DACUM)" workshop, the definition of CRCs' role was described and CRCs' duties and tasks were identified. Finally, the developed duties and tasks were validated for importance, difficulty, and frequency. Results: A CRC is defined as the one who coordinates and performs tasks related to clinical research/trials among investigators, participants, and sponsors according to the Good Clinical Practice at institutions conducting clinical trials. Twelve duties and 78 tasks were identified on the DACUM chart which represented the importance, difficulty, and frequency of tasks represented as A, B, and C respectively. Based on determinant coefficient (DC) of the task, the highest ranked task was confirming the eligibility of participants for research (DC=8.03) and the lowest was inventory management for clinical study materials (3.95). Conclusion: In this study, the job of a CRC was analyzed through the DACUM process and it was found that CRCs were doing various duties and tasks. Based on these results, it is suggested that it is necessary to develop CRC education programs considering the career ladder of CRCs.

Development and Analysis of Job Description for Korean Oncology APN (종양 전문 간호사의 직무 분석)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to develop job description for Korean oncology APNs and assess importance, frequency, and difficulty for each of task elements listed on the job description. Method: Twenty-four oncology APNs or professors working at cancer centers or universities in Korea were enrolled in this study. They were asked to complete the questionnaires about frequencies, importances, and difficulties on the task elements for the APNs which had developed through a DACUM method. Descriptive statistics were produced by using SPSS WIN 10.0. Result: The job description of oncology APNs was identified 5 duties, 44 tasks, and 110 task elements. As for the all five duties, the average scores of the frequency, importance, and difficulty were 2.57, 2.25 and 2.52. And the role of educator was shown as the most important duty of the oncology ANPs, whereas the role of administer was the least. And the role of consultant was the most frequently performed by the oncology APNs. Conclusion: In this study, we could recognize the reality of oncology APNs' performances having wide spectrum from medical to nursing disciplines. For further verifying and improving performance, we need more precisely designed studies with more representative subjects.

Nurses' Job Analysis in a Regional Emergency Center Using the DACUM (데이컴 기법을 이용한 일개 권역응급의료센터 간호사의 직무 분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to establish the role of and to analyze the job of nurses in a regional emergency center using the Developing a Curriculum(DACUM) process, a job analysis technique. Methods: The DACUM committee was organized, and three workshops were held from June 1st to July 4th, 2016. One hundred two nurses in a regional emergency center participated in a survey from October 3rd to 10th, 2016. The frequency, importance and difficulty of each tasks and task elements in the DACUM were investigated on a Likert scale. Results: The roles of nurses in a regional emergency center were identified and the DACUM chart was developed with 6 duties, 29 tasks and 153 task elements. According to the survey, some tasks such as 'CPR,' 'acute respiratory distress care,' and 'drug administration' showed high frequency and importance or difficulty in all nursing units in common, and different results reflected the characteristics of each nursing unit were also found. Conclusion: The results showed the feature of the regional emergency center. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop educational programs for practice.

Comparative Analysis of Nurse-led Health Care in Child Daycare Centers (어린이집 방문간호사의 직무에 대한 인식비교)

  • Purpose: To compare perceptions of nurse-led health care visits in child daycare centers and calculate determination coefficients (DC) reflecting the job values. Methods: This was a secondary analysis study that applied the evaluation report for visiting nursing services for child daycare centers, prepared by the Seoul Nurses Association in 2021. Totally, 86 visiting nurses, 1997 childcare teachers, and 1915 parents were included in the study. The job recognition questionnaire was used to identify the levels of readiness, importance, and difficulty of a visiting nurse's job. Results: The visiting nurses showed high levels of readiness and importance for most duties and tasks expected of them. Compared to the nurses, the parents determined a greater importance towards the jobs of visiting nurses. The visiting nurses and childcare teachers exhibited similar levels of importance for the job. The highest and lowest DC scores were obtained for 'child developmental evaluation and referral' and 'child education', respectively. Conclusion: The duties and tasks verified in this study can be evidence for the job description, and should be preferentially developed for enhancing the competency of visiting nurses. Considering the importance of nurse-led health care, this will warrant an expansion of services to other regions.

A Study on the Characteristics of Jobs in Academic Libraries According to Different Generations (대학도서관 업무의 시대별 변천에 따른 특성 연구)

  • This study aimed to investigate the transition of academic libraries' jobs by developing a model based on a shift of library generations including Library 1.0, Library 2.0, and Library 3.0 corresponding to the shift of web generations and to explore generational characteristics of library duties as well. The research used three phases of procedure: literature review about different library generations; job analyses for academic libraries in South Korea and the U.S.A.; the Delphi technique in tree sequential order. The research findings were as follows. First of all, there were 170 duties that continued from Library 1.0 to Library 3.0. There were 58 duties which continued from Library 2.0 to Library 3.0 whereas three duties that continued from Library 1.0 to Library 2.0. In addition, three distinctive duties existed only in Library 1.0 whereas one unique duty was only in Library 2.0. Library 3.0 generated 25 new duties. Secondly, considering general characteristics which cover specific parts of individual duties, there was a significant increase in importance, difficulty, and frequency of library administration throughout the three generations. In terms of importance, difficulty, and frequency of collection development and management, there was a significant increase only from Library 2.0 to Library 3.0. Considering information organization, there was a significant decrease in importance from Library 1.0 to Library 2.0. In addition, there was a significant decrease in frequency and there was no significant difference in difficulty throughout the three generations. In the case of information service, while there was a significant increase in importance among three generations, there was a significant increase in difficulty only from Library 1.0 to Library 2.0. However, there was no generational difference in frequency. With the respect of information system development and management, there was a significant increase in importance and frequency throughout the three generations, but there was no significant difference in difficulty among three generations.

Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to Improve Emergency Care for Novice Nurses (신규간호사의 응급간호 역량 강화를 위한 중요도 - 실행도 분석)

  • Purpose: Although emergency care is one of the most important capabilities for novice nurses, many novice nurses have shown difficulty in emergency care in the clinical field. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence data for the future development of educational programs by analyzing the priorities in emergency care of novice nurses using the Importance-Performance Analysis. Methods: This study was designed as a descriptive survey. The participants were 197 novice nurses who worked in general hospitals from August 1 to 31, 2018. The questionnaire consisted of 'common emergency care', 'cardiovascular emergency care', 'nervous system emergency care', 'respiratory system emergency care', 'communication and teamwork competency'. Results: As a result of this study, 'communication and teamwork' among emergency cares was evaluated as the most important capability in the clinical field. In the Importance-Performance Analysis, a total of 12 items were included in the quadrant A, including 5 items related to 'cardiovascular emergency care', 4 items to 'respiratory system emergency care', 2 items to 'nervous system emergency care' and 1 item to 'common emergency care'. The results showed a need for intensive improvement in items included in quadrant A which are the high importance low performance items. Conclusion: In order to improve the emergency care of novice nurses, a variety of emergency care education programs on the nervous system and respiratory system care should be implemented as well as cardiovascular emergency care education.

Human Resource Management of Institutional Household - To the Application for Job Analysis of Healthy Families Center Worker (공공가정의 인적자원 관리방안 - 건강가정사 직무분석에의 적용)

  • This study was an attempt to examine the basic scheme required for the job analysis of healthy family-center workers in the context of human resource management. For this purpose, factors including frequency, importance, priority, and difficulty were examined. The job classification and concrete job activities were extracted from the interviews of eight healthy family-center workers, and these factors were then analyzed from the recordings. From the results of this study, 28 job tasks were collected and the four job types were classified. The results can be used for job analysis and human resource development (HRD). This study suggests that various methods should be used for job analysis and that a large number of samples should be utilized for the further studies.

Establishment of Fracture Criteria on Human Femur (넙다리뼈에 대한 파괴기준의 설정)

  • Fracture analysis of human bone is necessary to predict the failure of musculoskeletal structures and to heal them by several possible mechanisms under different loading conditions. But human bone is a complex material, with a multiphase, heterogeneous and anisotropic microstructure. Due to the difficulty of obtaining experimental and clinical results, the importance of numerical analysis and computational simulations in biomechanics are increasing gradually. In this study, stress analysis for human femur model is performed by using the 2-dimensional finite element method(FEM) and its stress distribution is determined. From these results, the fracture mechanic parameters are calculated and the fracture criteria on human femur are investigated and discussed.

A Study on Importance and Satisfaction of Students about Forest Healing Instructor Training Program Using ISA Analysis (ISA 분석을 이용한 산림치유지도사 양성과정에 대한 수강생의 중요도와 만족도 연구)

  • The objectives of this study was to analyze the importance and satisfaction (ISA) of forest healing instructor training program, targeting on the students educated in 2018. As a result, it was found that students older than forties are the majority as 81 %, and they preferred forest healing instructors as their second future job. When comparing the importance and satisfaction, the students evaluated satisfaction with low grade compared to importance with high grade in all questions. In ISA analysis, it was needed to improve the updated textbook information, to list the example problems by subject, to expose the test subjects in the textbooks, to disclose the test questions and answers, to control the test difficulty, to adjust the test pass rate, to expand the number of test and test sites, to increase the effort for making students understand, to prepare lectures appropriate to practice for forest healing instructor training program by priority.
