Misunderstanding of multimedia in the computer industry , the confusion of consumers, and the lack of understanding of technology in the human context provide an impetus for examining and speculating on the future of multimedia. "What can a multimedia technology do?" is not a sufficient question for consumers until we add " for whom" . Both how the relevant technology is likely to develop and how human choices would be made are examined with a focus on historical trend in media technology adoption.

In this study, psychological assessment was carried out to investigate the driver's psychological characteristics by the change of the headlight. The participants were 20 men and 20 women in their 20s and thirty-two different conditions in combinations of waveform of light, voltage, and alteration time were used. The questionnaire for the assessment was evaluated by 8 subjective items and 5-point SD criteria of 19 pair's adjective. The results were as follows. 1. The assessment results from SD method indicated 3 factors by factor analysis, and it was shown that A waveform had significances in a sense of security and impetus and B waveform had a significance in a sense of security The levels of the limitations for the voltage change were 12V in the factor of a sense of security and 11V in the factor of a sense of impetus for A waveform, 12.6V in the factor of a sense of security for B waveform. 2. The results of the subjective assessment showed that the limitation of A waveform's brightness change was 12V. Moreover, the limitations of voltage changes were 12.6V for B waveform brightness change, 12V for discomfort, 12.6V for darkness. And the limitation of C waveform's brightness change was 12V.

여러 연구를 통해서 고등학생들이 역학분야에서 갖고 있는 비과학적 개념을 과학적 개념으로 변화시키는데 어려움이 있다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 어떤 연구자들은 이러한 개념변화의 어려움을 해결하기 위해 좀 더 어린 나이에 역학을 배워야 한다고 제안하였다. 이들은 학생들이 나이가 더 들수록 자신의 개념을 잘 변화시키지 않는다고 주장하였다. 이 연구에서는 학생의 나이에 따라서 역학단원의 힘 개념이 변화하는데 어떠한 차이점이 있는가를 분석하여 나이에 따른 개념 변화의 차이점과 그 특징을 알아보았다. 서울 지역의 중학교 1학년 한 학급 35명을 13세 집단으로 하고, 이 중학교에 인접한 일반계 고등학교 2학년 한 학급 50명을 17세 집단으로 하여 개인 면담을 4단계로 나누어 실시하였다. 사전개념 검사 단계에서 학생의 힘에 관한 개념을 조사하고 물체가 운동하는 방향으로 힘이 작용한다는 "기동력(Impetus )" 개념을 가지고 있는 학생을 선발하였다. 바로 이어진 처치단계에서는 이 학생들에게 자신의 생각과 불일치 하는 학생 중심의 논박자료를 읽게 하였다. 논박자료에 대한 학생의 반응 특성과 즉시 사후검사, 시간지연 사후검사를 통해서 나이가 다른 두 집단간의 개념 변화 특성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 나이와 상관없이 대부분의 학생들은 기동력 개념을 갖고 있었다. 특히 13세 학생들 중에는 과학적 의미의 힘 개념을 일상생활의 경험과 관련된 비과학적 용어로 이해하고 있는 학생들이 있었고, 17세 학생은 과학적인 용어로 이해하고 있었다. 둘째, 나이가 더 많은 학생이 개념 변화가 더 어렵다는 "유연성 상실"이란 개념을 지지할 수 있는 결과를 확인할 수 없었다. 셋째, 논박자료에 대해서 13세 학생은 무조건 수용, 무조건 거부, 비판적 수용, 비판적 거부 등 네 가지 반응 분포를 고르게 나타내었지만, 17세 학생은 비판적 거부와 비판적 수용 반응이 지배적이었다. 특히 논박자료에 대해 비판적 수용 반응을 보인 학생은 시간이 지난 후에도 과학적 개념을 유지하는 비율이 높았지만, 무조건 수용 반응을 보인 학생은 모두 비과학적인 개념으로 다시 돌아갔다. 이 연구결과는 나이가 더 많은 학생에게서 유연성 상실이 일어난다는 가설을 지지하지 않는다. 따라서 나이와 유연성 상실과의 관계는, 나이에 따라 변하는 다른 변인들을 고려한 보다 심층적인 연구가 필요하다.

To translate the goal of redeveloping Shanghai as one of the international hubs of economy, finance and trade in 2010, the foundation is to be created, and international standing as global city is to be established preliminarily. Transformation of urban functions and approach of "High starting position and jump over" will give impetus to promote Shanghai as an international metropolitan within fairy short period of time. To transform urban functions and translate" High starting position and jump over", certain links which have great impact on Shanghai's rising-up must be handled and normal approach to develop the city must be renovated to reach the goal of establishing an international city. Four strategic approaches as following are explored in this paper : $\bullet$ To transform urban function from industry only to integrated developments. $\bullet$ To break through administrative boundary and expand urban development space. $\bullet$ To develop centralized urban infrastructure framework. $\bullet$ And to erect modern life and culture facilities towards 21st century.

Although the generic implementation of aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS) processes for the recovery of biological products has been exploited for several years, this has not resulted in a wide adoption of the technique. The main reasons involve the poor understanding of the mechanism governing phase formation and the behavior of solute partitioning in ATPS processes, the cost of phase forming polymers, and the necessary extended time to optimize the technique. In this review paper, some of the practical disadvantages attributed to ATPS are addressed. The practical approach exploited to design ATPS processes, the application to achieve process integration, the extended use for the recovery of high-value products, and the recent development of new low-cost ATPS, are discussed. It is proposed that the trend of the practical application of ATPS processes for the recovery of biological products will involve the purification of new high-value bioparticulate products with medical applications. Such a trend will give new impetus to the technique, and will draw attention from industries needing to develop new, and improve existing, commercial processes.

One of the latest wonders brought to us by ICT(Information and Communication Technology) is telematics turning automobiles, not long ago a mere means of transportation, into a whole-new digital living space. Telematics is indeed fast becoming a household word, and countries around the globe are giving spur to research and development of core technologies to acquire competitiveness in related IT sectors. This paper discusses the telematics pilot project launched in Jeju to promote the development of telematics technology and stimulate related industries. The objective of the pilot project is to give impetus to research in related technologies and a head-start to Korea in the global race in this technology field. The pilot deployment, covering 6 services, promising to be most demanded in Korea's telematics environment, is sure to make a sizeable contribution toward familiarizing the public with the new technology.

The full-width, full-depth precast panel system is very efficient for the rehabilitation of deteriorated decks as well as for new bridge construction.. The horizontal bond strength at the interface between the two interconnected elements is of primary importance in order to achieve composite action. The strength of the bond between the two precast members should be high enough to prevent any progressive slip from taking place. However, the case when both of the interconnected elements are precast members bonded by means of grout, is not currently addressed by KBDC or AASHTO. This is the main impetus for this study. A total 43 push-off tests were performed to evaluate the horizontal bond strength and to recommend the best practice for the system. Test parameters included different interface surface conditions, different amount and different types of shear connectors. The presence of the shear keys at the top surface of the beam increased the interface bond capacity tremendously compared to the bond capacity with a different surface conditions.

As the Internet is explosively growing and the market is rapidly globalized, many entrepreneurs have been given an impetus to take on the function of the intermediation between providers and customers. Organizations performing the mediating roles in the cyberspace are termed 'cybermediary' and often called 'Openmarket' as a kind of transactional cybermediary in Korea. Despite sustainable growth of Openmarket, customer complaints and damages are increasing because of absence of recovery standards after a service failure. Therefore, it is important that a service provider converts dissatisfied customers to advocates for the growth of the Openmarket. This study aims to examine the role of recovery of the service failures for the Openmarket by proposing a relationship between complaint handling and continuance based on the equity theory. From the empirical results, we found that interactional equity had significant effects on both overall service satisfaction and recovery satisfaction, while procedural equity significantly influenced only recovery satisfaction. Recovery satisfaction also had an impact on overall service satisfaction and each satisfaction factor was positively related to continuance intention.

Predicting the fire resistance of structures has been significantly advanced by full scale fire tests in conjunction with improved understanding of compartmental fire. Despite the progress, application of insulation is still required to parts of structural steelwork to achieve over 60 minutes of fire rating. It is now recognised that uncertainties on insulation properties hinder adaptation of performance based designs for different types of structures. Intumescent coating has recently appeared to be one of most popular insulation types for steel structures, but its design method remains to be confirmed by empirical data, as technical difficulties on the determination of the material properties at elevated temperatures exist. These need to take into account of further physiochemical transitions such as moving boundary and endothermic reaction. The impetus for this research is to investigate the applicability of the conventional differential equation solution which examines the temperature rise on coated steel members by an inorganic intumescent coating, provided that the temperature-dependent thermal/mechanical insulation properties are experimentally defined in lab scale tests.
