간석지(干潟地) 식물(植物)과 관련된Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi의 분류(分類)와 분포(分布)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies of Species and Distribution of Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Relation to Salt-Marsh Plants)

  • Soil sieving을 통하여 4종(種)의 간석지식물(干潟地植物)들 (산조풀, 벌노랭이, 비쑥 및 띠등(等))과 관련되어 있는 Glomus속(屬)의 6종(種)과 Acaurospora 속(屬)의 1종(種)등 7종(種)의 vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi를 분리(分離)하였다. Glomus속(屬)의 6종(種)은 G. albidum Walker & Rhodes, G. pulvinatum (Henn.)Trappe & Gerd., G. constrictum Trappe, G. sp. (4th type), G. caledonicum (Nicol. & Gerd.) Trappe & Gerd. (5th type) 및 G. sp. (6th type) 등이었으며, Acaulospora의 1종(種)은 A. scrobiculata 이었다. 7종(種)의 VA균(菌)가운데 G. mosseae (1st type), G. pulvinatum (2nd type) 및 G. sp.(4 type)의 3종(種)의 Glomus spp.가 가장 흔한 type들이었다. 산조풀과 비쑥의 근계토양(根系土壤)중에는 공(共)히 G. sp.(4th type)가, 벌노랑이와 띠의 근계토양(根系土壤)중에는 공(共)히 G. pulvinatum (2nd typc)이 가장 풍부(豊富)하게 존재(存在)한다는 사실(事實)을 알수 있었다. 본 연구(硏究)를 통(通)하여 토양(土壤)중 VA균종(菌種)의 다양성(多樣性)은 숙주식물에 달려있음을 확인(確認)할 수 있었다.

  • 제방 비탈면의 잡초관리는 상당한 노동력을 필요로 하기 때문에 풀베기 작업을 경감시키기 위해 일반적으로 잡초라고 불리고 있는 식물을 활용하여 "잡초로 잡초를 제어한다" 라는 개념 하에 연구를 추진하고 있다. 제방 비탈면의 식생에는 (1) 침식 및 붕괴방지, (2) 풀베기 작업시의 작업성 등과 같은 식물자체에 요구되는 조건, (3) 숲을 기본으로 한 농촌풍경의 향상 유지 및 (4) 걷기 편함 등이다. 황폐지나 제방 비탈면의 우점종인 식물에 대하여 이 4가지 조건에 맞추어 검토를 실시한 결과, Imperata cylindrica Beauv., Shibataea kumasaca Nakai, Sasaella kogasensis Nakai var. gracillima S. Suzuki 및 Hedera canariensis Willd.가 이용 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

갯방풍 자생지의 식생구조 및 군락특성에 관한 연구 (Ecological Characteristics and Native Preservation Method of Glehnia littoralis Community in Korea Coast)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the vegetation structure of community by the phytosociology method, floristic composition table on coast of South Korea. Form 2007 June until November, $2m{\times}2m$ quadrat was established in native Glehnia littoralis in order to record a dominants and coverage, and it drew the profile. It was found out that the mean temperature in the distributed areas for Glehnia littoralis population was $11^{\circ}C$ or more. The flora of the studied area in Glehnia lottoralis community of coastal dune was listed as 100 species. Glehnia lottoralis community of appearance species of Yeonggwanggun Duwori was many most by 44 species. Carex pumila, Carex Kobomugi, Imperata cylindrica var. koenigii, Ischaemum anthephehoroides and Vitex rotundifolia range all over the studied areas. And the vegetation of Glehnia littoralis community was classified into Vitex rotundifolia subcommunity, Ischaemun anthephephoroides subcommunity and Imperata cylindrica var. koenigii subcommunity. Native Glehnia littoralis was classified into preserve area, natural selection area and artificial destruction area. It must preserve native Glehnia littoralis of Goseong, Yeongdeok, Haenam it was ecological important area.

논둑 식생의 식물사회학적 군락분류 (Phytosociological Classification of vegetation in paddy levee)

  • 논둑에 분포하고 있는 식생구조에 대해 식물사회학적 연구를 수행하였다. 총59개 조사구에 대한 식생자료의 분석은 Zurich-Montpellier 학파의 방법을 이용하였다. 논둑 식생조사 결과3군단, 3군집, 3군락으로 구분되었다: 쑥-수크령군단(바랭이-돌피군집, 쑥-개망초군락, 띠군락, 한삼덩굴-돌콩군락), 참억새-새군단(억새군집), 미국가막사리-개기장군단(고마리군집). DCA분석에서 식생단위와 환경과의 상관관계를 보면, 쑥-개망초군락과 띠군락은 토양 경도와 양의 상관관계, 습한 논둑에 서식하는 고마리군집과 서식폭이 넓은 억새군집은 전질소와 높은 상관관계를 나타내었다.

갈대와 띠 종자의 정선기술 개발 (Development of Refining Methods in Phragmites Communis and Imperata Cylindrica seed)

  • The efficient refinement of seed is required to reduce the cost and labor input in artificial propagation of wild plant. This study was carried out to develop methods for collecting and refining tiny seeds from wild plants. For obtaining Phragmites communis seeds, the inflorescence was cut into small fragments using a Straw Cutter and subsequently detached pappus hairs from seed coat by Hammer Mill. The primary refined seeds were passed 1.0 mm sieve. The screened seeds were subjected to Seed Blower with wind speed of 0.25 mㆍsec-1 to collected intact and well-ripen seeds. The seeds of Imperata cylindrica were refined as follows. Inflorescences were cut using a Straw Cutter first. The pappus was removed from cut fragments using a Hammer Mill and subsequently subjected to Seed Scarifier at 500rpm for 60 sec. for further separation. The separated seeds were passed 1.0 mm screen and collected after blowing with Seed Blower of wind speed of 0.15 mㆍsec-1. When the amount of seed was too little to refine with Seed Scarifier and Blower, the procedure was slightly modified from the procedure described above. The crude seed mixture obtained from Hammer Mill step was hand-refined roughly and then immersed into cone. (95%) sulfuric acid for 2 min. and collected floating portion after dilution of sulfuric acid solution 100 times with tap water. The collected seeds were dried and passed 0.149 mm sieve. During seed refining process using mechanical or sulfuric acid treatments, a small portion of damaged seed were evolved, however, the amount was not noticeable as compared to the total amount of collected seeds. Because the germination percentages between hand-refined seeds and seeds refined by above methods were not statistically different, the developed procedures for refining tiny seed of wild plants are helpful to reduce the cost and labor input in artificial propagation of two species.

Regeneration and Acclimatization of Regenerants in Long-term in vitro Culture of Japanese Blood Grass (Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra')

  • Long-term culture of cell lines is an important issue in in vitro culture and in plant science. In this study, the regeneration ability and ex vitro acclimatization of regenerants were evaluated. The ploidy level of regenerants derived from long-term cultured cell lines was measured in Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra', Poaceae. Adventitious buds (shoots) were successfully induced from five-year-cultured calli on MS medium containing 0.1 mg/L BA or 2.0 mg/L TDZ, combined with 0.01 mg/L auxins (IAA, IBA, NAA and 2,4-D), respectively. Adventitious roots were also induced on MS medium containing 0.01 mg/L auxins (IBA, NAA and 2,4-D), respectively. Interestingly, regenerants with both red and green leaf were successfully obtained when regenerants were cultured on MS medium with 9% sucrose. Regenerants derived from long-term cultured calli were transferred to pots using an optimal acclimatization process and successfully adapted to both pot and soil conditions. Moreover, the ploidy level was measured using calli and regenerants that had been kept on MS medium containing various kinds of plant growth regulators (PGRs).

도시하천 제방사면에 식재한 몇몇 벼과식물의 활착 및 군락유지 특성 (Characteristics of Rooting and Community Maintenance of Some Gramineae planted on Urban Stream Bank Slope)

  • 도시하천 제방사면의 벼과식물 활착과 군락형성 연구를 위해 2010년 10월 중순 물억새, 억새, 띠, 새를 줄떼식재하였다. 플라스틱 묘상(길이 60cm ${\times}$ 너비 30cm ${\times}$ 깊이 5cm)에 원예용상토를 4cm 깊이로 채우고 실험초종의 씨앗을 2010년 4월 하순 파종한 후 2010년 10월 초까지 형성된 뗏장을 너비 6cm ${\times}$ 길이 15cm ${\times}$ 두께 4cm로 잘라서 제방사면에 수평 폭 약 10~15cm 간격으로 심었다. 줄떼식재 후 군락형성을 유도하기 위해 2011년~2013년까지 3년간 매년 2회 잡초를 제거하였다. 실험초종 모두 2012년에 줄떼 간격의 빈 공간을 줄기가 상당부분 채워 초기군락이 형성되었으며, 2013년에는 줄떼 간격의 빈 공간을 거의 채워 군락이 형성되었다. 군락형성 후 2014년과 2015년은 잡초제거 없이 군락유지가 가능한지 관찰하였다. 2013년과 2014년의 줄기수간, 초장간 t-검정과, 2014년과 2015년의 줄기수간, 초장간 t-검정을 수행하였다. t-검정에는 5월, 7월, 9월에 조사한 줄기수와 초장을 활용하였다. 실험초종 모두 2014년의 줄기수와 초장이 2013년보다 줄어들어(p<0.001) 잡초의 피해를 입었다. 물억새, 억새, 띠는 2014년과 2015년의 줄기수와 초장에 차이가 없어(p>0.05) 군락형성 후 잡초제거 없이 군락이 유지되었으나, 새는 2015년의 줄기수와 초장이 2014년보다 현저히 줄어들어(p<0.001) 잡초의 피해가 커 군락유지가 어려웠다. 하천제방사면의 초본류 군락 형성과 유지의 관점에서 줄떼식재의 경우 물억새, 억새, 띠가 적합한 초종으로 나타났다. 실험기간 5년 매년 9월에 조사한 물억새, 억새, 띠, 새의 줄떼식재와 포트식재 간 줄기수와 초장의 t-검정에서, 줄기수는 줄떼식재가 포트식재보다 많았고(p<0.001), 초장은 포트식재가 줄떼식재보다 길었다(p<0.05). 줄기수가 상대적으로 많은 줄떼식재가 제방사면 유실보호 관점에서 포트식재보다 유리한 것으로 드러났다.

Effects of Elevated $CO_2$ and Temperature on Seedling Emergence of Herbs in a Japanese Temperate Grassland

  • To understand the effects of elevated $CO_2$ concentration and temperature on seedling emergence of seven herbaceous species, the seedling emergence was monitored between November 1997 and May 1998 using a temperature gradient chamber and a $CO_2$-temperature gradient chamber. Experiment was conducted under current ambient condition (Control plot), 2$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with ambient $CO_2$ (T2 Plot), 4$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with ambient $CO_2$ (T4 plot). and 4$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with 1.8 fold of ambient $CO_2$ (CT4 plot). Species tested in this study were Digitaria adscendens, Echinochloa crus-galli, Panicum bisulcatum, Setaria viridis. Oenothera biennis, Andropogon virginicus, and Imperata cylindrica. Each species often dominates in the herbaceous stage of secondary succession in Japan. The mean seedling emergence times for all species were significantly increased to 23.6 and 32.2 d in the T2 and T4 plot compared to the Control plot, respectively. The most sensitive and insensitive species in seedling emergence time in T2 plot were O. biennis and D. adscendens, respectivel.y, and those in the T4 and CT4 plot were I. cylindrica and D. adscendens, E. crus-galli and A. virginicus, respectively. All experimental species showed no significant difference in the seedling emergence rate between treatments except for O. biennis and I. cylindrica. O. biennis showed a great decrease in the seedling emergence rate from 83.3% in the Control plot to 38.0%, 14.7%, and 29.3% in the T2, T4, and CT4 plot, respectively. Elevated $CO_2$ had very little effect on the seedling emergence. From these observations, it is expected that increased temperature would greatly advance the vegetative recovery time after disturbance through the advancement of seedling emergence time.

대흑산도 식생에 대한 식물사회학적 연구 (Phytosociological Study on the Vegetation of Daehuksan Island)

  • Daehuksan Island (125°23'-125° 28' E and 34°37'-34°42' N, ca 19.7㎢) in the southwestern part of Mokpo, Korea, is a part of the Dadohae National Marine Park. Most of the actual vegetation of the island is substitutional vegetation under various human impact such as grazing, cutting for firewood. And natural vegetation is partially distributed in the tutelary shrine forests, deep valleys, etc. During 1987, phytosociological investigation of this was carried out on the basis of Braum-Blanguet's method. The forest vegetation was classified into 1 association and 7 communities, Camellia japonica, Machilus thunbergii, Ardisio-Castanopsietum sieboldii, Daphniphyllum macropodum-Quercus acuta, Pyrrosia lingua-Pinus densiflora. Rhododendron mucronulatum-Pinus thunbergii, Carpinus coreana, and Psedosasa japonica community. Grassland vegetation was classified into Gleichenia japonica, Gleichenia dichotoma, Arundinella hirta-Miscanthus sinensis, Artemisia princeps var. orientalis. Imperata cylindrica var. koenii Artemisia princeps var. orientalis-Pennisetum alpecuroides, Carex boottiana, and salt marsh vegetation. Thypa orientalis, Spergularia marina, Phragmites communis, Carex scabrifolia, and Triglochin maritimum community. Based on them, the actual vegetation map was made in 1:50,000 scale.

비양도식물상 (Plant list of Bieyang island)

  • According to know the botanical flora at the Bieyang Island, located in the frone of Jae-Ju-Island toward west and north, the plant list at the island wa investigated in July, 1955. According to the investigation, the following resume is summarized; 1. Bieyand Island is a small volcano that rose from the sea 942 years ago. Nakai Monosing, a Japanese botanist, had reported 72 species of plants on this island in 1913 indicating 22 residential houses at that time. 2. Resulting on the investigation this time, 184 species of plants are collected. This indicates that the additional 112 species of plants should be added to the number of species that Nakai found. 3. This increase of species of plants, might be caused possibly due to carrying by wind, tidal current, bird, and human, during this time being indicating increase of residential houses from 22 in 1913 to 40 in July 1955. 4. Most of the collected plants are sea-coast and meadow plants. Among them, 44 are thellophytes and 90 hemicreptophytes. This indicates dry climate of the island. 5. The most dominant among them is Imperata cylindrica var., Koenigii. 6. This island could be acceptable for growth of island wood plants, we believe.
