In a diesel engine the phenomenon of spray impaction on a combustion chamber wall has been taken as an undesirable matter because of the deposition of fuel on the surfaces, and the subsequent slow evaporation and mixing with air resulting in unburned hydrocarbons. Therefore many researches have concentrated on avoiding fuel impaction on surfaces. On the contrary done a number of studies using spray wall impactions in a positive way, which makes the droplets smaller, changes the direction into free spaces far from the wall and also improves mixing with air. In this paper the angle variations of the impaction land sufrace prepared for the injection spray is analysed as a simulative manner. The spray dispersions, vapor distributions and flow fields are compared with impacting angle variation. The results show more angle give more vapor distribution until $15^{\circ}$.

Introduction: In the management of dentofacial deformities, variable movement of the maxilla can be made possible by a Le Fort I osteotomy. Posterior impaction of the maxilla necessary for rotation of the maxillomandibular complex enhances the functions and esthetic results. In cases of posterior impaction of the maxilla, an increase in the figure of the occlusal plane angle and incisor inclination can occur. This study reports the relationship between the amount of posterior impaction and the change in the occlusal plane angle and incisor inclination in a Le Fort I osteotomy by preoperative and postoperative lateral cephalograms. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients who had undergone orthognathic surgery in Dong-A University Medical Center participated in this study. Lateral cephalometrics, within 3 weeks prior to surgery and 3 days after surgery, were used for analysis. Pre and postoperative measurements of the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination based on the Frankfort horizontal (FH) plane were performed. X and Y were defined as the amount of vertical change in the upper incisor tip and the amount of vertical change in the upper first molar mesial cup tip through the operation. The amount of final posterior maxillary impaction was determined by subtracting Y from X, which is the difference in vertical height. According to the amount of posterior maxillary impaction, the change in the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination was measured. Results: The average posterior maxillary impaction was 2.91 mm and the average change in the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination was $6.54^{\circ}$after surgery. As a result, each mm of posterior maxillary impaction changed the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination by $2.25^{\circ}$. Statistically, there was high significance. Two cases were observed: one with the same amount of posterior maxillary impaction performed on both the right and left showing $2.20^{\circ}$, and the other with a different amount of posterior maxillary impaction performed showing $2.35^{\circ}$. In this case, there was no significance difference between the two cases. Conclusion: Each mm of posterior maxillary impaction changes the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination by an average of $2.25^{\circ}$. In posterior maxillary impaction, there was no significant difference in the amount of change in the occlusal plane angle and incisal inclination regardless of whether there was an equal amount of posterior maxillary impaction on both sides. This study is expected to help in the presurgical orthodontic preparation and presurgical treatment planning.
Purpose: This study was designed to retrospectively evaluate the postsurgical initial stability of the Le Fort I osteotomy with posterior impaction and rigid internal fixation for the correction of mandibular prognathism with midface deficiency. Particular attention was paid to the magnitude and direction of the initial postsurgical change. Methods: 20 healthy patients with mandibular prognathism and midface deficiency participated in this study. All patients underwent Le Fort I osteotomy with posterior impaction and mandibular setback BSSO by one surgeon. Preoperative (T0), immediate postoperative (T1) and follow-up period (T2) cephalograms were taken and analyzed. Change between T0~T1 and T1~T2 was measured and analyzed. Results: Between T0~T1, significant differences were observed in all measurements except the ANS point and mandibular plane angle. Between T1~T2, only the occlusal plane angle was significantly changed. No significant changes were found in all other measurements. Conclusion: This study indicates that Le Fort I osteotomy with posterior impaction is stable at initial stages. Although changes in the occlusal plane angle were observed, it was caused by tooth movement after post-operative orthodontic treatment. However, more studies with larger samples are required to form definitive conclusions. Conclusion: This study indicates that Le Fort I osteotomy with posterior impaction is stable at initial stages. Mandibular fractures have higher incidence rate compared to facial bone fractures because of relatively prominent form. Specially, mandibular angle fractures were known as common fracture site because of morphological anatomic structure. The mandibular third molar appears to be the most frequent impacted tooth. The mandibular third molar have influence on mandibular angle fractures according to it's eruption state. Also, the mandibular angle fracture including the third molar may influence on post operative infection whether the third molar is in impacted or extracted state when reduction of fracture site is operated. The presence or absence and degree of impaction of the mandibular third molar were assessed for each patient and were related to the occurrence of the mandibular angle fracture. The extraction or non extraction of the mandibular third molar were related to the occurrence of the post operative infection in the reduction of mandibular angle fractures. In the presence of mandibular third molar, the possibility of mandibular angle fractures were relatively common. When viewing the mandibular third molar at occlusal plane, the possibility of mandibular angle fractures were high in the class C group. The possibility of mandibular angle fractures were high in the mesial angulation and partial impaction. There was a statistically significant difference(P<0.05). In complete erupted mandibular third molar, the possibility of post operative infection occurs quite often, but there was no statistical significant difference(P>0.05). In the extracted or non extracted of mandibular third molar, the post operative infection showed no statistical significant difference(P>0.05). With the results mentioned above, mandibular third molar was significantly more susceptible to mandibular angle fracture. In the reduction of mandibular angle fracture, it was recommended that mandibular third molar should be extracted especially in case of pericoronitis, periodontitis and other infections.

The objective of this study is to establish geometric guidelines for design of impaction parts prepared for removing undesirable effects of fuel deposition on a wall in small direct-injection diesel engines. In order to get the guidelines a new wall geometry is introduced and assessed, which has a flat top and a slant edge. The size of the flat top and the angle of the slant edge are varied and tested in same chamber condition, then their effects on spray dispersions and drop sizes are discussed. The results show that the case of 3.0mm flat top and $60^{\circ}$ edge angle gives the best spray characteristics for a small combustion chamber in the test conditions chosen in this paper.
Objective: To evaluate nasal and upper lip changes after Le Fort I surgery by means of images taken with a three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT). Methods: Fifteen patients (9 female and 6 male, mean age 21.9 years) with preoperative and postoperative 3D-CT were studied. The patients underwent maxillary movement with impaction or elongation, and advancement or setback. With the 3D-CT which presents reconstructive soft tissue images, preoperative and postoperative measurement and analysis were performed for nasal tip projection angle, columellar angle, supratip break angle, nasolabial angle, interalar width, internostril width, columella length and nasal tip projection. Results: Postoperative interalar and internostril widening was significant for all categories of maxillary movement. However, there was little significant relation in all parameters between the amount and direction of maxillary movement. Interestingly, movement of the maxilla with upward did show a little decrease in the columellar angle, supra tip break angle and nasolabial angle. Also movement of the maxilla with forward did show a little advancement in the upper lip position. Conclusion: Changes to the nose clearly occur after orthognathic surgery. There was a significant increase in postoperative interalar width and internostril width with maxillary movement. However, no clear correlation could be determined between amount of change and maxillary movement. Interestingly, maxillary impaction did show a little decrease in the columellar angle, supra tip break angle and nasolabial angle. In addition, we used 3D-CT for more precise analysis as a useful tool.

Objective: To evaluate the changes in the nose in three dimensions after Le Fort I osteotomy in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion. Methods: The subjects were 40 adult patients (20 females and 20 males; mean age, 20.3 ± 3.0 years; range, 17.0 to 31.1 years) who underwent one-piece Le Fort I osteotomy with maxillary advancement and impaction treatment for maxillary hypoplasia. The mean maxillary advancement was 4.56 ± 1.34 mm, and the mean maxillary impaction was 2.03 ± 1.04 mm. Stereophotogrammetry was used to acquire three-dimensional images before and at least 6 months after surgery. Results: Alare (Al) and alare curvature (Ac) points had moved vertically and anterolaterally postoperatively. A significant increase was observed in the nasal ala width and alar base width, and no changes were noted in the columellar length, nasolabial angle, and nasal area. There was a significant relationship between maxillary impaction and nasal ala width and horizontal and sagittal positions of the bilateral Al and Ac. The only relationship found was between maxillary advancement and postoperative sagittal location of the subnasale and pronasale. Conclusions: Nasal soft tissues were highly affected by the vertical movement of the maxilla; however, the soft tissue responses were individual-dependent.
Purpose : This study evaluated the impact of the presence and aspect of mandibular third molars to the mandible angle fracture or condyle fractures in Korean. Materials and Methods : A retrospective study was designed for patients attending the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Kang-dong sacred heart hospital for treatment of mandibular fracture from January 2006 to September 2010. The primary variable was the presence of mandibular third molar and the secondary variable was the aspects of third molar impaction. Mandibular third molars were classified by the impaction depth and the available space as Pell & Gregory system. Outcome variables were the presence of mandibular angle fracture or condyle fracture. Also the source of trauma, age, sex were studied. Hospital charts, radiographs were used for study. Statistic analysis was done with descriptive statistics, the X2-test, linear-by-linear association. P value under 0.05 was considered significant statistically. Results : The number of involved patients was 86. The ratio of male to female patients was about 9:1 for angle fracture and 7:3 for condyle fracture. The most common source of trauma was assault for angle fracture and fall down for condyle fracture. The presence of mandibular third molar increased frequency of angle fracture and decreased condyle fracture with larger impaction depth. But available space of mandibular third molar did not show high association with angle or condyle fractures. Conclusion: Preventive extraction of mandibular third molar is recommended for patients with high risk of angle fracture. Male patients at their third decade or martial artists, police officer could be the case. But it is not recommended for patients with low risk of angle fracture and high risk of condyle fracture relatively. Elder female patients without any symptom on their third molar could be the case.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of maxillary occlusal plane angle to postoperative skeletal stability by comparative analysis after two-jaw surgery of patients with skeletal CIII malocclusion. This study was made with lateral cephalometric radiography of 52 patients with skeletal class III malocclusion that were performed to Le Fort I osteotomy and BSSRO. And 52 patients were divided to Group A(n=30) and B(n=22). Maxillary posterior impaction was not conducted in Group A, which the pre-operative maxillary occlusal plane angle was in a normal range, and for Group B, which the pre-operative maxillary occlusal plane was low, the maxillary posterior impaction was conducted. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The relapse rate of Group A, which the pre-operative maxillary occlusal plane angle was in a normal range, was relatively stable compared to Group B, which the pre-operative maxillary occlusal plane was low. 2. The relapse rate of each measurement of Group B, which had the maxillary occlusal plane altered during the operation, was somewhat high, and of those, the post-operative relapse rate of overjet, overbite, mandibular plane angle appeared to be significantly high in the statistics. The analyzed results above, was thought to be indicating that the pre-operative maxillary occlusal plane angle was closely related to the post-operative skeletal stability, and that obtaining post-operative skeletal stability only through operative normalization of occlusal plane angle may meet limitations.
Purpose: Dr. Marquardt made the facial 'phi' mask using golden ratio. Most class III patients have bulky faces and want a smaller face. Using a facial golden mask, this study estimated and compared frontal photographs before and after operation for soft tissue measurement. The golden mask can be considered as a reference tool for facial esthetic analyses especially in lower face. Methods: Forty patients who had undergone orthognathic surgery at Samsung Medical Center from January 2006 to December 2009 were included in this study. These patients had Class III malocclusion. Lateral cephalometric radiographs, frontal clinical photos of pre-op and 8~12 month later post-op, and the facial 'phi' mask using golden ratio, were used for analysis. Reduction of the lower face area, occlusal plane changes, amounts of mandible setback and amounts of maxilla posterior impaction were estimated. Results: Lower facial reduction ratio and mandibular setback amounts were significantly different between 1-jaw and 2-jaw groups. Average postoperative changes in the area of lower face between bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO) and BSSRO combined maxilla posterior impaction were compared by using an independent simple t-test and $P$ value was 0.016. Therefore, the lower facial reduction ratio and mandibular setback amount were significantly different in maxilla posterior impaction. Conclusion: The two-jaw surgery group showed more reduction of the lower facial area than the 1-jaw surgery group. The amount of lower facial reduction was more related with the amount of mandibular setback. There was no significant relation in lower facial reduction with amount of maxilla posterior impaction, pre-op occlusal plane, post-op occlusal plane and the mandibular angle. A relationship between the change in the lower facial area and the amount of maxilla posterior impaction or the change of mandibular angle occlusal plane at pre-op could not be found because of the difference in the amount of setback between two groups.
