This study has validated the relationship between the field practical training experience and its influence on the career decisions of the Korean female community college students majoring in library and information science. As a result of the study performed, the trainee factors for the field practical training were major related satisfaction (𝛽=.313, p<.01), advance preparation for practical training (𝛽=.235, p<.01), and attitude towards the practical training (𝛽=.195, p<.05) turned out to be the factors which have had a statistically positive (+) effect on the career decisions of the Korean female community college students majoring in library and information science. Furthermore, among the field training institution factors, the training content (𝛽=.268, p<.05) factor, and among the field training school factors, the training professor (𝛽=.185, p<.01) factor were confirmed to have a significant impact on the career decisions of the Korean female college students majoring in library and information science. This study could be used as the useful basic data for the career planning and job placement guidance for the Korean female community college students majoring in library and information science.

The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze user perceptions through a survey on the actual status, preference, and importance of high school students' use of school library spaces in C-city, and then to suggest a direction for efficiently constructing school library spaces necessary for future education. Seven high schools, which are evaluated as having excellent space composition and staffed by the school library. Based on the results of the survey on users' perceptions of the school library's use and the direction of space composition, the government first selected 1) locations that are easy for students to access, 2) securing high-quality materials and equipment to support curriculum and learning when constructing materials, reading spaces, and teaching and learning spaces, 3) fully considering the role of the school library and the needs of users when constructing and deploying spaces, and 4) making efforts to construct spaces that reflect technological skills and equipment based on the impact of future environments and new technologies.

Based on the comprehensive literature search and the sample library surveys, some observations are made on the impact of online information technologies for reference services. Various issues specifically with OPAC, CD-ROM, remote database access, and internet environment are overviewed as the source of and trigger for change in reference librarianship and in terms of expectations as well as difficulties. The paper then focuses on how these technologies influence on the roles of reference librarians as intermediaries in information providing, instructing, consulting, and evaluating functions. This leads to rethinking the conceptual basis of today's reference service and the competencies for reference librarians with new functions and responsibilities.

The use of telematics, or of data communications, for the information services is a much debated issue currently in the information science. The purpose' of this study is to gain a general overview of the use of data communications in specialized information centers in order to find out the direction of development in furture. In this study, the state of the specialized information services by data communications in Korea was analysed from the following points of view: (1) What kind of role play the liberalization of telecommunication to help develope the specialized information services? (2) Which problems have happend to the specialized information services using data communications? (3) How are technical, economical, and methodical problems handled for the new services? The background research stems from interview with managers and researchers in 5 specialized information centers.

Altmetrics is an emergent research area whereby social media is applied as a source of metrics to evaluate scientific impact. Recently, the interest in altmetrics has been growing. Traditional scientific impact evaluation indictors are based on the number of publications, citation counts and peer reviews of a researcher. As research publications were increasingly placed online, usage metrics as well as webometrics appeared. This paper explores the potential benefits of altmetrics and the deep relationship between each metrics. Firstly, we found a weak-to-medium correlation among the 11 altmetrics and visualized such correlation. Secondly, we conducted principal component analysis and exploratory factor analysis on altmetrics of social media, divided the 11 altmetrics into four feature sets, confirming the dispersion and relative concentration of altmetrics groups and developed the altmetrics evaluation model. We can use this model to evaluate the scientific impact of articles on social media.

The aim of this study was to assess the social impact of the cultural programs of the children's libraries in Korea and further present the libraries'social value. To this end, we have conducted a survey on 511 elementary school students to assess the social impact of the children libraries'cultural programs. As a consequence, we have ascertained the children's expressiveness / creativity within their personal realms, self-esteem, pleasure / joy / happiness as well as their attitude towards cultural arts and changes in the cultural and artistic experiences further to growth in friendship as a matter of social interaction, generation and strengthening of local communities, sense of affiliation with local community / identify, and local community participation, among the manifestations of the social impact concerned. Based on this, children's libraries can be regarded as an important social capital of the community in the following aspects. Children's libraries enhance the quality of life and children's interaction skills. It also make them feel attached to the local community. Children's libraries maintain local communities, contribute to the creation and strengthening of local communities, and encourage participation in local activities.

This article analyzes motivations behind social sciences blog posts citing journal articles in order to find out whether blog citations are good indicators for the societal impact or benefits of research. A random sample of 300 social sciences blog posts (out of 1,233 blog posts) from ResearchBlogging.org published between 01/01/2012 to 18/06/2014 were subjected to content analysis. The 300 blog posts had 472 references including 424 journal articles from 269 different journals. Sixty-one (22.68%) of all cited journals were from the social sciences and most of the journals with high frequency were highly cited general science journals such as PNAS and Science. Seventy-five percent of all journals were referenced only once. The average age of articles cited at the time of citation was 5.8 years. Discussion and criticism were the two main categories of motivations. Overall, the study shows the potential of blog citations as an altmetric measure and as a proxy for assessing the research impact. A considerable number of citation motivations in blogs such as disputing a belief, suggesting policies, providing a solution to a problem, reacting to media, criticism and the like seemed to support gaining societal benefits. Societal benefits are considered as helping stimulate new approaches to social issues, or informing public debate and policymaking. Lower self-citation (compared to some other altmetric measures such as tweets) and the fact that blogging involves generating content (i.e. an intellectual process) give them an advantage for altmetrics. However, limitations and contextual issues such as disciplinary differences and low uptake of altmetrics, in general, in scholarly communication should not be ignored when using blogs as a data source for altmetrics.

Korean private colleges under the period of Japanese control was the kernel for the educational resistance, one of the save-the-nation movements because of inculcating in Koreans the spirit of independence and self-respect under that period. Posung College Library building, erected in Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Foundation, especially, was the result of Koreans systematizing ability and iron will of independence for the future generations. In this paper, an attempt to study the Korean private college libraries under the period of Japanese control is provided. The main institutions in this study are Posung College library, Chosen Christian College library (Yunhee College Library), and Ewha College Library. This study will focus to review the followings: 1. The historical background of above mentioned libraries. 2. The educational resistance under that period. 3. The comparative and analytical study of these private college libraries and Keijo Imperial University library. 4. The facilities and the basic collection development plan on the basis of presentation. 5. library services including readers services. 6. The impact of these libraries on the present private university libraries. 7. The organization and staffing pattern, and budget of these private college libraries. The followings are the outlines conclusions: 1. Korean private college libraries had been established in order to perform the educational resistance. They are one of the supporting agencies for the research activities, among the most important means of social education, and provide, no doubt, the full nutriment for hungry soul under that period. 2. These libraries have not outstripped Keijo Imperial University in collection of books as well as man power, but their collection of books coincided, in general, with their curricula, and had feature to perform the save-the-nation-movement by education. 3. The library services were appeared in the forms such as the Circulation Library, Lectures on the Use of Books and Libraries, Library Week, and Training Course for the Librarians, etc. It is thought that these activities contributed to the social and cultural development of Korea indirectly. 4. The library administration of the private colleges depended upon the director of library because of the frequent changes of staffs and the simple functional system without its middle class. 5. The Japanese Government-General in Korea gave no financial assistance to the private colleges though they were in financial difficulties more than Keijo Imperial University. 6. The ambitious ideal for foundation of universities in reality as well as in name was not achieved during that period because of the monstrous obstacle so-called the Japanese Government-General in Korea, but its ideal had a desirable effect upon these college libraries development, in particular, before and after 1935.

The aim of this study is to find out the impact of collaborative instruction between the teacher librarian and the classroom teacher on learning interest and academic achievement by running Library and Information Life, which is the textbook of information literacy for teacher librarians and the Korean language curriculum for the first grade of middle school through library-based instruction. The result of this study has a positive influence on academic achievement by facilitating learning interest on Korean language classes under coplanning, co-operating and coevaluating in the school library. Therefore, it is important to establish the institutional system for collaborative instruction in order to increase information literacy instruction in the school community. A local school should expand the physical environment and educational equipment of its school library and form a flexible schedule to have enough time for teaching information literacy skills and for using of materials.

The purpose of this study is the investigation and evaluation of participants' awareness in the Book debate club which is managed by library of C University in Gwangju. For this purpose, the difference of the impact of participation in accordance to the participation duration and attitude, the demographic property of participants, and the problem of Book debate club are investigated. The collection of data is achieved by questionnaires and interviews. In the analyzed result, the period and manner of the participation are very important factors. Also, the activation plan is proposed on the basis of the analyzed result of problems in reading debate club to contribute to the management of future University library's reading promotion program.
