Multiple impact models to examine the effect of stress interference are proposed and investigated. The single shot model analysis, which used various shot ball conditions, was carried out to compare with multiple impacts analysis. Then the multiple impact analysis were performed to predict the effect of the shot ball distances. The results showed that the stress interference in the multiple impact model significantly reduced the maximum value of the compressive residual stresses. The residual stress profiles were strongly effected by the shot ball distances. The multiple impact model can simulate a realistic shot peening process rather than a single shot model does. It is concluded that the proposed model predicts the real process more accurately.
This study was to evaluate the consistency of the vertical force($F_z$) of the force platform and the impact force. Two experiments were performed. First, the force platform was vertically placed to hang to the wall. While the rotating iron body hit the force platform, $F_z$ was measured. Then $F_z$ was compared with the impact force of the rotating iron body that was precalculated by using the inertia moments and the rotating force. Second, six Taekwondo masters punched the force platform to show what a certain pattern the impart force has. They were asked to punch the target depending on target distances. The target distances were differed from the relative arm segment of subjects as 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, and 50% (100% target distance equals the aim length of each subject). Pearson's correlations were used between $F_z$ and the impact force. Also the linear regression was also performed to show the linearity. At the first experiment, $F_z$ and the impact force had much correlations and showed linear characteristics. Therefore, $F_z$ could be regarded as the impact force. At the second experiment, the strongest impact force was measured at the target distance of 80% and the time taken to the maximum impact force was within 0.02 seconds. The result of this study recommends that it can help the comparative study between the impact forces and other hitting sports.

Purpose - This study empirically investigated whether national distances (Cultural, Administrative, Geographic and Economic distance) have different effects on industries in different ways. Design/methodology - The empirical model utilized industry level export trade data to examine the differentiated effects of each national distance. By using direct measurement and covering 75 countries, this paper analyzes the effect of distances in different industries. More specifically, this study classified the industries into a more-sensitive/less-sensitive scale. Findings - The empirical results showed the complicated impacts of national distances on trade. Trade in industries that are more sensitive to cultural and administrative distances was not decreased as greatly as trade in industries that are less sensitive to cultural and administrative distances. Also, industries that are more sensitive to geographic distance showed a stronger negative impact on trade than less sensitive industries. Lastly, economic distance decreased trade for industries that are more sensitive to economic distance, while economic distance did not significantly increase trade for industries that are less sensitive to economic distance. Originality/value - As the first study to empirically find out whether national distance has different effects on industries, this study updated the measurements of national distance.

An impact on the ground surface may represent several phenomena, such as a crash of an airplane or an explosion or the passage of a train. In order to analyze and design structures and equipment to resist such a type of shocks, the response spectra for an impact on the ground must be given. We investigated the half-space motions due to impact using the finite element method. We performed extensive parametric analyses to define a suitable finite element model and arrive at displacement time histories and response spectra at varying distances from the impact point. The principal scope of our study has been to derive response spectra which: (a) provide insight and illustrate in detail the half-space response to an impact load, (b) can be readily used for the analysis of structures resting on a ground subjected to an impact and (c) are a new family of results for the impact problem and can serve as reference for future research.
Objective: The death of animals during transport for slaughter is a major factor indicating the level of welfare in transported animals. The aim of this study was to assess mortality related to the commercial transport of finisher pigs for slaughter in the Czech Republic. Methods: The inspectors of the State Veterinary Administration of the Czech Republic recorded the numbers of finisher pigs transported to processing plants in the Czech Republic for slaughter and the mortality in these pigs in relation to transport in the period from 2009 to 2014. Results: Our results show that the likelihood of death losses in transported pigs increases with increasing transport distance. The transport-related mortality ranged from 0.049% in pigs transported for distances below 50 km to 0.145% in pigs transported for distances exceeding 300 km. The impact of external air temperature on the transport-related mortality found in our study clearly shows that current transport practices fail to ensure the welfare of pigs transported under other than moderate weather. Particularly cold temperatures below $-2^{\circ}C$ were associated with increased death losses in winter transport. Conclusion: Despite a decreasing trend in the mortality of finisher pigs transported for slaughter in Europe, our study suggests that current transport conditions are not efficient at ensuring the welfare of pigs during transport for longer distances and the protection of pigs against the negative impact of extreme ambient temperatures. Further research should focus on developing practical guidelines to improve the welfare of pigs in transit accordingly.
Calculation of the damage impact of chemical accidents is an important element in site, and the initial isolation distance and the protective action distances are significant factors in coping the chemical accident. In this study, three major cities that represent each Province were selected, and the safety distances were calculated considering regional climate conditions. The results were compared with the prescribed values in Emergency Response Guidebook. It is concluded that the regional meteorological conditions such as temperature, vapour pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and cloud cover should be reflected in estimating the initial isolation distance and the protective action distance.
This paper presents a set of candidate regulatory requirements for TV band devices (TVBDs) in the Rep. of Korea. To guarantee the protection of incumbent services, especially digital TV (DTV) and wireless microphones, in TV frequency bands, we suggest minimum separation distances of TVBDs from the noise-limited contour according to incumbent users and TVBD types. This paper also deals with multiple sets of separation distances of a co-channel TVBD network from a DTV protected contour on the basis of the radio propagation characteristics of different geographic areas to make good use of TV white space (TVWS) and safely protect the DTV service. We present a low-power transmission mode of TVBDs and the relevant separation distances for small-cell deployment. The service coverage reduction ratio of a TVBD network is investigated in the presence of DTV interference in four geographic areas. The TVWS field verification results, conducted on the island of Jeju (Rep. of Korea), show that incumbent services operate well without harmful interference from neighboring TVBDs with the proposed separation distances.
This study is examine and analysis of the most flying and run distance during swing three times with six balls between two amateurs and pro-golfers in golf field in Sungnam airport. During down swing, kinetics variances are velocity of club-head and balls, vertical angular velocity. this scientic data present amateur golfers with recognition of long flying distances for golf balls. Through this study, the conclusions are as follows. 1. Before impact the balls, The club-head velocity of amateur golfers and pro-golfers show 33.34 - 39.53m/s, 39.04 - 42.82m/s respectively during the down swing. But The club-head velocity, flight and Run distances comparative $K_1$ amateur golfer with the pro-golfer are similar. 2. After impact the balls, The balls velocity if amateur golfers show 53.04 - 61.57m/s, The pro-golfers show 62.32 - 63.4m/s respectively during the down swing. In case of $K_3$,$K_4$, After the impact balls velocity comparative The RA brand with other brand are similar, Flight and Run distance are difference. 3. After impact the balls, The balls velocity are difference to other brand but The long flight and Run distance arrange RA, BIG, TITL. 4. In the vertical flight angle of the ball after impact, amateur golfer showed 16.75 - $18.73^{\circ}$. The pro-golfer showed 15.03 - $16.04^{\circ}$. In the vertical flight angle of the balls ideal $12-13^{\circ}$, The long flight and Run distance approach In the vertical flight angle the balls $12-13^{\circ}$.
The aim of this modelling study was to investigate the effect of large herd size (and land areas) on walking distances and milking interval (MI), and their impact on milk yield and economic penalties when 50% of the total diets were provided from home grown feed either as pasture or grazeable complementary forage rotation (CFR) in an automatic milking system (AMS). Twelve scenarios consisting of 3 AMS herds (400, 600, 800 cows), 2 levels of pasture utilisation (current AMS utilisation of 15.0 t dry matter [DM]/ha, termed as 'moderate'; optimum pasture utilisation of 19.7 t DM/ha, termed as 'high') and 2 rates of incorporation of grazeable complementary forage system (CFS: 0, 30%; CFS = 65% farm is CFR and 35% of farm is pasture) were investigated. Walking distances, energy loss due to walking, MI, reduction in milk yield and income loss were calculated for each treatment based on information available in the literature. With moderate pasture utilisation and 0% CFR, increasing the herd size from 400 to 800 cows resulted in an increase in total walking distances between the parlour and the paddock from 3.5 to 6.3 km. Consequently, MI increased from 15.2 to 16.4 h with increased herd size from 400 to 800 cows. High pasture utilisation (allowing for an increased stocking density) reduced the total walking distances up to 1 km, thus reduced the MI by up to 0.5 h compared to the moderate pasture, 800 cow herd combination. The high pasture utilisation combined with 30% of the farm in CFR in the farm reduced the total walking distances by up to 1.7 km and MI by up to 0.8 h compared to the moderate pasture and 800 cow herd combination. For moderate pasture utilisation, increasing the herd size from 400 to 800 cows resulted in more dramatic milk yield penalty as yield increasing from c.f. 2.6 and 5.1 kg/cow/d respectively, which incurred a loss of up to $AU 1.9/cow/d. Milk yield losses of 0.61 kg and 0.25 kg for every km increase in total walking distance (voluntary return trip from parlour to paddock) and every one hour increase in MI, respectively. The high pasture utilisation combined with 30% of the farm in CFR in the farm increased milk yield by up to 1.5 kg/cow/d, thereby reducing loss by up to $0.5/cow/d (c.f. the moderate pasture and 800 cow herd scenario). Thus, it was concluded that the successful integration of grazeable CFS with pasture has the potential to improve financial performance compared to the pasture only, large herd, AMS.

The door stiffness is one of the important factors side impact. Generally, the researches have been conducted on the assembled door module. This study is to analysis the side impact characteristics for automotives door module. The impact characteristics have been determined by door module side impact test machine. To determine the initial, intermediate and peak crush resistances use the plot of load versus displacement and obtain the integral of the applied load with respect to the crush distances specified below for each door tested. The initial crush resistance is the average force required to deform the door through the initial 6 inches of crush. The intermediate crush resistance is the average force required to deform the door through the initial 12 inches of crush. The peak crush resistance will be directly obtained from the plot of load versus displacement since it is the largest force required to deform the door through the entire 18 inches crush distance. The data are used to determine if a specific vehicle or item of automotives equipment meets the minimum performance requirements of the subject Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard(FMVSS). FMVSS Static 214, Side impact protection, specifies performance requirements for protection of occupants in side impact crashes.
