Nonlinear depth control algorithms for the hovering system of underwater vehicles are presented. In this paper, a nonlinear effect in heave motion for underwater vehicles, a deadzone effect of the flow control valve in the hovering tank and an impact disturbance are considered. In this situation, in order to choose a desirable controller, sliding mode controller and fuzzy sliding mode controller are designed and compared. The computer simulation results show that the fuzzy sliding mode control system is more suitable in order to maintain a desirable depth of an underwater vehicle with a deadzone and impact disturbance.

In this paper, we have developed a new mounting head system for flip chip. The proposed head system consists of a macro/micro positioning actuator for stable force control. The macro actuator provides the system with a gross motion while the micro device yields fine tuned motion to reduce the harmful impact force that occurs between very small sized electronic parts and the surface of a PCB(printed circuit board). In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed macro/micro chip mounting system, we compared the proposed system with the conventional chip mounting head equipped with a macro actuator only. A series of experiments were executed under the mounting conditions such as various access velocities and PCB stiffness. As a result of this study, a satisfactory voice coil actuator as the micro actuator has been developed, and its performance meet well the specifications desired for the design of the chip mounting head system and show good correspondence between theoretical analysis and experimental results.

The main purpose of the research is to examine impact of organizational justice and perceived organizational support on effectiveness of crime control in police organizations. This research employs a survey questionnaire to measure organizational justice, perceived organizational support, and effectiveness of crime control. The number of subject of the study is 285 police officers working in Daegu metropolitan city and some cities of Gyeongsangbuk-do province. The study employs regression analysis to analyze the effect of organizational justice and perceived organizational support on police performance. As the result of analysis, the effect of organizational justice on effectiveness of crime control is statistically significant at the level 0.01, perceived organizational support at the level 0.05. The key finding of this study is that in the performance-based management system, the reciprocal relationships between managers and individual officers with organizational justice and perceived organizational support play an important role in building a sustainable growth system in the police.

Despite the diverse benefits of smart home Internet of Things (IoT) services, the biggest obstacle to the actual usage of those services is concern about privacy. However, little research has investigated the impact of privacy control on users' intention to use smart home services. Based on communication privacy management theory and privacy calculus theory, this study investigates how privacy control options affect users' perceived benefits and costs and how those perceptions affect individuals' intentions to use smart home services by conducting an experiment. Our results showed that smart home privacy control options decreased perceived benefits and increased perceived costs. The perceived benefits and costs significantly affected the intention to use smart home security services. More intriguingly, the effect of perceived benefit was found to be stronger than that of the expected cost. This research contributes to the field of IoT and smart home research and provides practitioners with notable guidelines.

In this paper, a real time diagnostic algorithm fur estimating the impact location by loose parts is proposed. It is composed of two modules such as the alarm discrimination module (ADM) and the impact-location estimation module(IEM). ADM decides whether the detected signal that triggers the alarm is the impact signal by loose parts or the noise signal. When the decision from ADM is concluded as the impact signal, the beginning time of burst-type signal, which the impact signal has usually such a form in time domain, provides the necessary data fur IEM. IEM by use of the arrival time method estimates the impact location of loose parts. The overall results of the estimated impact location are displayed on a computer monitor by the graphical mode and numerical data composed of the impact point, and thereby a plant operator can recognize easily the status of the impact event. This algorithm can perform the diagnosis process automatically and hence the operator's burden and the possible operator's error due to lack of expert knowledge of impact signals can be reduced remarkably. In order to validate the application of this method, the test experiment with a mock-up (flat board and reactor) system is performed. The experimental results show the efficiency of this algorithm even under high level noise and potential application to Loose Part Monitoring System (LPMS) for improving diagnosis capability in nuclear power plants.

This paper presents a three dimensional modeling and a trajectory generation for minimized impact walking of the biped robot. Inverse dynamic analysis and forward dynamic analysis are performed considering impact force between the foot and ground for determining the actuator capacity and for simulating the proposed biped walking robot. Double support phase walking is considered for close to human's with adding the kinematic constraints on the one of the single support phase.

The purpose of this study is to ensure an amicable material quality control in the construction site through investigating a process which can impact the construction material quality. For it, a worker interview and questionnaire survey was conducted through a direct field visit. The visited construction sites are composed of 79% construction site and 21% engineering site. As the respondents of questionnaire survey, the quality control workers were 72% of total respondents. Next, the construction worker, handymen, field representatives and others formed 7%. The interview with the quality control staff was conducted with the items including the construction site quality control guide, incoming inspection and material management. Through this survey, the problems of quality control by progress phase were derived. It could be known that the management and measures by each phase were urgently required. It also was indicated that a selection of low-priced material caused by low price bidding could badly impact the construction and safety. Also, in relation to the opinions such as the insufficient quality control and heavy work-load, the improvements are required. For the effective quality control in the construction site, the material quality control procedures suitable for the phase of construction progress must be presented in the present quality control. Also, the standards for it need to be established.

본 논문에서는 잉크젯 프린터의 고품질 인쇄 및 인쇄 속도 향상을 위하여 헤드 노즐로부터 분사된 잉크 액적의 위치 제어 정밀도를 향상할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 샤프트를 따라 이동하고 있는 캐리지에 탑재된 잉크젯 프린터 헤드의 노즐로부터 분사 신호에 동기되어 분사된 액적의 운동 방정식을 수립하고 이로부터 액적이 용지에 도달하는 궤적을 모델링하여 탄착지점을 예측함으로써 분사 액적을 원하는 지점에 정확하게 탄착시키도록 액적 분사 신호의 타이밍을 제어하는 방법을 제안한다. 캐리지의 위치 신호와의 단순 동기에 기반을 둔 기존의 분사 제어 방법에 비해 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 이동하는 캐리지의 속도를 고려하여 분사 타이밍을 보상하므로 캐리지의 속도 변동에 대해서도 보다 정확한 위치 제어가 가능하여 고품질 인쇄를 구현할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 방향 전환을 위한 가감속 구간에서도 프린팅을 가능하게 하므로 동일한 인쇄 영역에 대해서 캐리지의 이동 경로가 짧아져 인쇄 속도를 향상시킬 수 있다.

Purpose - There is a lack of research on how much corporate control is sufficient for effective subsidiary business-related decision making. To address this research gap, this study analyzes the impact of the level of control of a Korean corporation's headquarters on its overseas subsidiary performance. Research design, data, methodology - The study's sample comes from the Overseas Korean Business Directory of KOTRA. A multiple regression analysis empirically confirmed the relationship between the headquarters level of control over the subsidiaries and their performance. Results - The results show that the greater an organization's headquarters control over strategic issues, the greater the subsidiary's non-financial performance. However, quick decision-making through decentralization promotes the rapid selection of successful new products that can provide a competitive advantage. Conclusion - This study shows that the impact of control levels on subsidiary performance depends on the type of control involved. Specifically, while low levels of control over operational issues had a positive (+) influence on subsidiary non-financial performance, high control levels led to improved non-financial performance with regard to strategic issues among the subsidiaries.

This study explores the role of the Accounting Information System (AIS) in mediating the relationship between internal control and the performance of employees. This study examines whether internal control would influence the performance of employees and whether the AIS would impact the performance of employees in Jordan's industrial small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Internal control is expected to impact employee performance. The survey questionnaire was used to gather data. A random sampling approach was used to survey the respondents. A total of 270 questionnaires were distributed; only 203, with a 75% response rate, were available. The data was analyzed using AMOS and SPSS. The result from the analyses provides support for the hypothesis that AIS mediates the relationship between internal control and the performance of the employee. Specifically, this study found evidence that internal control yielded a strong positive relationship with employee performance and a positive relationship with AIS. The study also found that AIS had a positive relationship with the performance of the employee. In brief, internal control has major effects on employee performance. Also, the AIS mediates the relationship between internal control and the performance of the employee. The result of this research found that in the relationship between internal control and employee performance, AIS plays an important role.
