Polyurethane과 polyurethane dimethacrylate를 이용한 내충격성 PMMA수지의 합성과 그 물성 (Synthesis and Property of Modified PMMA Resin Using Polyurethane and Polyurethane Dimethacrylate)

  • 유연성과 강인성이 우수하여 탄성체로 널리 사용되어지고 있는 폴리우레탄(PU)을 이용하여 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(PMMA)의 물성향상을 검토하여 보았다. PU와 PMMA블렌드의 분자량과 폴리올의 종류가 블렌드의 물성과 상용성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하기 위하여, 분자량 또는 폴리올의 종류가 각기 다른 ether type과 ester type의 PU를 합성하여서, 이를 PMMA와 블렌드 하였다. 블렌드의 인장강도는 Instron을 이용하여서 측정하였고, Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)와 Differental Scanning Calorimetry(DSC)를 이용하여서 두 고분자의 상용성의 변화에 따른 형태학과 유리전이온도 변화를 측정하였으며, haze meter를 이용하여 투명성을 측정하였다. 그러나, PU와 PMMA 두 고분자의 본질적인 비상용성으로 인하여 블렌드를 통한 PMMA의 물성 개량은 큰 성과를 얻지 못하였다. 따라서 PU와 유사한 화학구조를 가지고 있으면서, 양말단에 비닐기가 도입된 형태인 폴리우레탄 디메타아크릴레이트(PUD)를 합성하여서 메틸메타크릴레이트와 공중합하여 가교 공중합체를 합성하였으며, 이 가교 공중합체의 기계적 물성을 Instron, Izod type(Cantilever Beam)impact tester와 haze meter 등을 이용하여 측정하였다. 그 결과 PMMA 단독수지의 투명성을 유지하면서 내충격성이 상당히 개선된다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Low-velocity impact performance of the carbon/epoxy plates exposed to the cyclic temperature

  • The mechanical properties of polymeric composites are degraded under elevated temperatures due to the effect of temperature on the mechanical behavior of the resin and resin fiber interfaces. In this study, the effect of temperature on the impact response of the carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) was investigated at low-velocity impact (LVI) using a drop-weight impact tester machine. All the composite plates were fabricated using a vacuum infusion process with a stacking sequence of [45/0_2/-45/90_2]s, and a thickness of 2.9 mm. A group of the specimens was exposed to an environment with a temperature cycling at the range of -30 ℃ to 65 ℃. In addition, three other groups of the specimens were aged at ambient (28 ℃), -30 ℃, and 65 ℃ for ten days. Then all the conditioned specimens were subjected to LVI at three energy levels of 10, 15, and 20 J. To assess the behavior of the damaged composite plates, the force-time, force-displacement, and energy-time diagrams were analyzed at all temperatures. Finally, radiography, optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to evaluate the effect of the temperature and damages at various impact levels. Based on the results, different energy levels have a similar effect on the LVI behavior of the samples at various temperatures. Delamination, matrix cracking, and fiber failure were the main damage modes. Compared to the samples tested at room temperature, the reduction of temperature to -30 ℃ enhanced the maximum impact force and flexural stiffness while decreasing the absorbed energy and the failure surface area. The temperature increasing to 65 ℃ increased the maximum impact force and flexural stiffness while decreasing the absorbed energy and the failure surface area. Applying 200 thermal cycles at the range of -30 ℃ to 65 ℃ led to the formation of fine cracks in the matrix while decreasing the absorbed energy. The maximum contact force is recorded under cyclic temperature as 5.95, 6.51 and 7.14 kN, under impact energy of 10, 15 and 20 J, respectively. As well as, the minimum contact force belongs to the room temperature condition and is reported as 3.93, 4.94 and 5.71 kN, under impact energy of 10, 15 and 20 J, respectively.

  • Automobiles should be designed to meet the requirements and standards for the protections of passengers in a car accident. One of safety factors is an absorbing capacity in collision. Many vehicles have been designed based on the criterion of the absorbing capacity. Therefore a controller has been developed in order to control and increase the absorbing capacity of impact energy in automobile collision. The capacity of impact energy will be improved regardless of vehicular-structure members and shapes. An air-pressure horizontal impact tester for crushing has been built up for the evaluation of energy absorbing characteristics in collision. Influence of height, thickness and clearance in the controller have been considered to predict and control the energy absorbing capacity. Aluminum alloy (Al) tubes (30,39,44 m in inner dia. and 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 m in thickness) are tested by axial loading. The energy absorbing capacity of Al tubes have been estimated in cases of with-controller and without-controller. respectively based on height. thickness, clearance of an controller.

Flyash에 의한 STS304 재료의 내침식성 평가 (Evaluation on erosion resistance of STS304 by flyash)

  • Erosion due to abrasive particles contained in gas streams from boilers has been emerged as a significant problem in the coal fired power plants. Particle erosion accounted for approximately 50% of boiler failures and especially flyash erosion was responsible for 20~30% of emergency boiler shutdowns. Particularly, because of the high ash loading and high velocity, most erosion occurs in the boiler tubes and economiser tube bank where the direction of the gas stream changes to $180^{\circ}$ .In this study, a high temperature particle erosion tester was used to evaluate erosion rate in a simulated environment. The erosion parameters such as erosion temperature, particle impact angle, particle velocity and various particle size were changed. Flyash is the combustion product of the pulverized coal, where size is ranging from 1 to $200\mu\textrm{m}$. Flyash composed of mainly SiO$_2$, $A1_2$$_O3$, and $Fe_2$$O_3$has dense spherical particles and irregular particles containing numerous pores and cavities. From the erosion tests at various conditions, the maximum erosion was experienced at impact angles of $30^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$ In addition, erosion rate increased in proportional to velocity and temperature. And from the observation of the eroded surfaces, it was also concluded that 304 stainless steel was mainly eroded by extrusion-forging at high impact angle ($90^{\circ}$) and by microcutting mechanism at low impact angles ($30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$).

ESPI를 이용한 복합재료 박리결함의 정량평가 (Quantitative Evaluation of Delamination Inside of Composite Materials by ESPI)

  • 복합재료는 이방성의 특징으로 매우 복잡한 역학거동을 하며, 해석 및 신뢰성 검사에 많은 어려움이 있다. 특히, 기존의 비파괴검사기법으로 내부손상을 검출하는 것은 매우 어려운 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 복합재구조물의 가장 취약한 분야인 충격에 의한 손상이 발생할 경우 효과적인 검출기법을 개발하고, 충격에 따른 내부결함의 정량평가에 ESPI를 활용하였다. 인공결함을 이용하여 ESPI기법의 신뢰성을 확보하고 실제 충격손상 시험편에 대해 적용하여 5%이내의 오차율로 결함을 정량평가하였다.

충격보강제가 보강된 PPS (polyphenylene sulfide)/MWCNT (multi-walled carbon nanotube) 나노복합체의 물성연구 (Properties of impact modifier reinforced PPS/MWCNT Nanocomposite)

  • Polymer composites which have electrical properties have been studied in various industries. The Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) are thought to be reinforcements for polymers because of their high aspect ratio and specially mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. We introduced MWCNT and impact modifier in order to improve thermal and mechanical properties of Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and give electric characteristic to PPS. The thermal properties were investigated by Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The morphology, mechanical properties and electrical characteristic were performed by Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Izod impact tester and surface resistance meter. As a result, we could find that the PPS/MWCNT composites have high conductivity and good mechanical properties than neat PPS resin.

압전필름센서를 이용한 복합재 평판의 저속충격 손상개시 모니터링 (Monitoring of Low-velocity Impact Damage Initiation of Gr/Ep Panel 7sing Piezoeleetric Thin Film Sensor)

  • 우수한 동적 감지특서을 갖는 압전필름센서는 구조 건전성 모니터링이나 평가와 같은 구조물과 재료의 변화를 분석하는데 사용될 수 있다. 압전필름센서의 이러한 특성을 이용하여 Gr/Ep 복합재 평판의 충격 손상개시를 모니터링하였다. 압전필름센서와 스트레인게이지를 Gr/Ep 복합재 평판에 부착하여 다양한 조건의 에너지에 대한 충격시험을 낙하식 충격 시험기를 사용하여 수행하였다. 충격시험을 수행하는 동안 영구압입, 기지균열, 층간분리와 같은 충격 손상개시를 예측하기 위하여 센서신호를 분석하였다. 충격에너지를 초기 손상이 발생할 수 있는 크기 이상으로 증가시키면 손상의 개시와 진전에 대한 정보를 포함하는 특정 센서 신호를 관찰할 수 있었다. 특히, 압전필름세서는 스트레인게이지 보다 충격 손상개시 및 진전에 대한 좋은 감지 특성을 보여주었다.

  • 압전필름센서는 우수한 동적 감지 특성을 갖고 있어 복합재 구조의 저속충격을 모니터링하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 복합재 샌드위치 보에 대한 충격응답함수를 유도하였으며, 이를 충격시험와 비교하였따. 충격시험은 손상이 발생하지 않는 저에너지 조건에서 계측장치가 부착된 낙하식 충격시험기를 이용하여 수행하였다. 충격하중에 으한 샌드위치보의 거동을 예측하는 정방향 문제와 압전필름센서 신호로부터 충격력을 복원하는 역방향 문제에서 시험과 해석의 결과는 잘 일치하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 압전필름센서를 이용한 복합재 샌드위치 구조의 저속충격 모니터링 가능성을 확인하였다.

정적압입 관통 실험을 이용한 복합재 적층판의 고속충격 탄도한계속도 예측 (Prediction of Ballistic Limit for Composite Laminates Subjected to High-velocity Impact Using Static Perforation Test)

  • 본 논문에서는 유효 면적의 제한이 있는 복합재 적층판의 탄도한계속도를 예측하였다. 탄도한계속도를 예측하기 위해 정적압입 관통실험과 고속충격 실험 그리고 준실험식을 이용하였다. 정적압입 관통실험을 통해 하중-변위 데이터를 취득하고 이를 이용해서 관통에너지를 측정하였다. 고속충격 실험을 통해 실제 관통 속도 및 관통 에너지를 측정하였다. 정적압입 관통실험과 고속충격 실험을 통해 구한 에너지를 이용해 준실험식을 만들고, 준실험식과 고속충돌 실험결과와 비교해 보았다. 위 방법을 이용해 탄도한계속도를 예측하였고 정적압입 관통 실험과 준실험식에 의한 탄도한계속도 예측의 타당성을 확인하였다.

ESR한 M2강의 열처리에 따른 미세조직 및 물성 변화 (Variation of Microstructure and Property of the Electro-slag Remelted M2 Steel with Heat Treatment Conditions)

  • In order to investigate the variation of microstructure and property of the Electro-slag Remelted M2 steel, microstructure observation, hardness, and bending test were performed by using optical microscope. SEM/EDS, rockwell hardness tester, charpy impact tester and bending tester, respectively. It was revealed that the number of inclusions and content of gas elements(S, O, N) in M2 steel fabricated by ESR process decreased markedly compared to those of AIM. It seems to be due to refining effect of ESR process. The volume fraction of carbides in quenched and tempered specimens after austenitizing at 1150$^{\circ}C$ and 1240$^{\circ}C$ was measured. The volume fraction of grain boundary carbides were found to be similar for both specimens. However, The volume fraction of carbides in grain decreased with an increase of austenitizing temperature. When specimen was austenitized at 1150$^{\circ}C$, grain boundary carbides showed needle like morphology. But, the carbides were broken with an increase of austenitizing temperature. The specimen austenitized at 1240$^{\circ}C$ showed higher hardness and lower bending strength compared to that of 1150$^{\circ}C$. As expected, toughness increased with sub-zero quenching treatment.
