Erythrosine used as a colouring agent in drugs, cosmetics and foods in Korea, was examined for its effects on murine immune system and methemoglobin formation. As immunotoxicologic assay parameters, we adopted circulating leukocytes and immunoorgan weights for pathotoxicology, IgM plaque forming cells and arthus reaction for humoral immunity, delayed hypersensitivity reaction of cell mediated immunity and carbon clearacnce for macrophage function. Erythrosine's effects were observed as follows; 1. Ery throsine showed no significant effects on circulating leulocyte counts and relative immunoorgan weight. 2. Erythrosine diminished IgM plaque forming cells. 3. Erythrosine decreased arthus reaction, in the dose dependent manner. 4. Erythrosine had no significant effect on delayed hypersensitivity. 5. Phagocytic and corrected phagocytic index were not affected. 6. Methemoglobin content was similar in the test and control groups.

Antitumor effect of LC43, a protein-bound ploysaccharide (M.W. 43 kDa) that was purified from intergeneric protoplast fusant of Lentinus edodes and Coriolus versicolor, was elucidated against mouse sarcoma 180 cell in vitro and in vivo. By injecting LC43 into ICR mice bearing solid or ascitic sarcoma 180, tumor regression and survival rates were investigated. To examine the effects of LC43 on immunopotentiation activity. immunoorgan weight, B cell differentiation, T cell activity and macrophage activation were determined. LC43 showed antitumor effects against both solid tumor and ascitic tumor of sarcoma 180. It did not change significantly the immunoorgan weight but potentiated immune responses such as B cell differentiation and the release of superoxide anion from macrophages. These results suggest that the protein-bound polysaccharide of LC43 exhibited antitumor activities through the activation of immune-related cells and acted as an immunmodulator.

황산화제인 propyl gallate가 in vivo에서 정상 웅성 마우스의 면역기능과 aniline 유도 methemoglobin 함량에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험 결과, 1. Propyl gallate는 혈중 백혈구 수를 용량 의존적으로 감소시켰다. 2. 상대적 면역 장기 무게는 propyl gallate에 의해 영향 받지 않았다. 3. IgM $PFCs/10^{6}$ spleen cell 과 IgM PFCs/spleen 은 propyl gallate 처치군에서 유의성 있는 감소를 보였다. 4. 항체 유도 염증 반응인 Arthus 반응은 propyl gallate에 의해 억제되었다. 5. Aniline으로 유도한 methemoglobin 에 있어서 propyl gallate는 유의성 있는 영향을 나타내지 않았다.
