  • Imitation is an important cultural act that began with human history, and is becoming an essential strategy for innovation and creativity in the 21st century. With the advent of the concept of intellectual property in modern society, the issues of imitation and design have become inseparable. This study, in that it is necessary to understand the cultural identity of the times for the Design Studies, examined the significance of imitation of TV reality audition programs, JTBCand Mnet with a theme of "Mimic Singing" and "LipSync." First, the act of imitation itself is fair and entertaining. Second, imitation ironically expresses the power of originality. Third, imitation is eventually expanding into mixing and transformation. Through these series of processes, the act of imitation goes beyond one-sided follow-up and leads to the intention of improving it creatively. Thus, it is concluded that the issue of imitation is complementary, not mutually exclusive, as an inseparable concept from creativity.

Characteristics of Imitation for American Trendy Casual Styles Made by Domestic Casual Brands

  • American trendy casual styles can be characterized as fitted to body and rendering sexy and fashionable images and now very popular in Korea. This paper aims to identify diffusion channels of Amreican trendy casual style among Korean market and the characteristics of imitation for American trendy casual styles made by Korean casual brands. American trendy casual style was introduced and diffused mainly through 3 channels: American films and TV dramas, on-line communities, on-line shopping mall speciallized for purchasing American apparel brands. Some of American celebrities became fashion ikons and played critical roles in diffusing American trendy styles. After searching websites and fashion magazines and visiting brand stores, several Korean casual brands imitated the styles of American trendy casual brands and the scope of imitation was vast across items. Imitation was found mainly among T-shirts,jacket, jumper, pants, skirt and accessaries. Also imitation was found in almost every aspects of clothes such as shape, sihlouette, color, prints and stitching, belt, and drawstring.

  • The purpose of this paper is to research the phonetic parameters used on the voice imitation. First of all, the fundamental frequency is imitated effectively. Distinctive prosodic patterns are used repeatedly on the voice imitation. Speaking rate is used in special measure in case the target speaker has extraordinary speaking rate. Also formant frequency is imitated variously. In sum, distinctive characteristics perceived by listener are used on voice imitation.

Effects of Bundle Type and Substitution with Spent Laying Hen Surimi on Quality Characteristics of Imitation Crabsticks

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of bundle type (BT) and substitution with spent laying hen (SH) surimi on quality characteristics of imitation crabsticks made from Alaska Pollack (AP) during 6 wk of cold storage. Diagonally bundled samples had poorer gel characteristics and more lipid oxidation when compared with straight bundled ones (p<0.05). The color of diagonally bundled imitation crabsticks deteriorated with storage time (p<0.01). However, BT did not affect sensory characteristics (p>0.05). SH substitution had an effect on most quality characteristics of imitation crabsticks; darker and poorer gel characteristics were observed and its effect on sensory evaluation was seen at the initial storage. Thus, BT and SH substitution can be considered to have a slight effect on eating quality of imitation crabsticks, despite their negative effects on color, gel characteristics, and lipid oxidation.

  • The effect of major ingradients (Water, Soybean oil, Na-caseinate, Soybean protein isolate, Corn starch. Lactic acid and disodium phosphate) on the textural properties of imitation cheese were studied by response surface methodology and evaluated by contour diagram. The hardness of imitation cheese was directly influenced by the contents of water, oil and Na-caseinate and also affected by the interactions between water and oil and corn starch and lactic acid/phosphate. The adhesiveness was strongly affected by the interactions between caseinate and lactic acid/phosphate, SPI and corn starch and corn starch and lactic acid/phosphate. The springiness was directly influenced by the contents of oil, caseinate and lactic acid/phosphate, and also affected by the interactions between SPI and lactic acid/phosphate and corn starch and lactic acid/phosphate. The melting property was strongly influenced by the contents and interactions of lactic acid/phosphate.

Effect of Compression Test Conditions on the Textural Parameters of Imitation Crab-leg Product (압착시험 조건이 게맛살의 조직감 지표에 미치는 영향)

  • The optimum conditions fer the measurement of texture profile of imitation crab-leg products were investigated by different conditions using Texture Analyser and the date were compared to those of sensory evaluations. The textural characteristics of surimi gels were compared with those of imitation crab-leg products. The TPA values of 5 different kinds of commercial imitation crab-leg product and 2 kinds of surimi gel products purchased in a market in Seoul were measured. In surimi gels, instrumental hardness and cohesiveness were higher than those of imitation crab-leg products, especially chewiness and gumminess were significantly higher than those of imitation crab-leg products. In imitation crab-leg products, hardness and cohesiveness increased and springiness decreased as the probe diameter increased from 12.5 mm to 24.6 mm. In the different compression ratio (60, 70, 80%), hardness increased and cohesiveness and springiness decreased as the compression ratio increased. The chewiness, gumminess, cohesiveness and hardness increased slightly as the cross-head speed increased from 0.8 to 2.4 mm/sec. Significant correlations between mechanical and sensory values were observed in gumminess, chewiness, cohesiveness and hardness. The optimum conditions for the TPA measurement of imitation crab-leg products were a cross-head speed of 2.4 mm/sec and 60% compression ratio with a flat probe having twice of the sample diameter (24.6 mm).

Categorization and production in lexical pitch accent contrasts of North Kyungsang Korean

  • Categorical production in language processing helps speakers to produce phonemic contrasts. This categorization and production is utilized for the production-based and imitation-based approach in the present study. Contrastive signals in speakers' speech reflect the shapes of boundaries with categorical characteristics. Signals that provide information about lexical pitch accent contrasts can introduce categorical distinctions for productive and cognitive selection. This experiment was conducted with nine North Kyungsang speakers for a production task and nine North Kyungsang speakers for an imitation task. The first finding of the present study is the rigidity of categorical production, which controls the boundaries of lexical pitch accent contrasts. The categorization of North Kyungsang speakers' production allows them to classify minimal pitch accent contrasts. The categorical production in imitation appeared in two clusters, representing two meaningful contrasts. The second finding of the present study is that there are individual differences in speakers' production and imitation responses. The distinctive performances of individual speakers showed a variety of curves. For the HL-LH patterns, the categorical production tended to be highly distinctive as compared to the other pitch accent patterns (HH-HL and HH-LH), showing that there are more continuous curves than categorical curves. Finally, the present study shows that, for North Kyungsang speakers, imitative production is the core type of categorical production for determining the existence of the lexical pitch accent system. However, several questions remain for defining that categorical production, which leads to ideas for future research.

  • The pastiche is one of the most unique characteristics in the post-modern period. The pastiche fashion design is an intentional imitation expressed by deconstructivity of the design. It has become the major creation method of post-modern fashion by expressing the image from the variety and creativity. The concept of imitation in pastiche is the important fashion subject which lead the dynamics and creativities of fashion when It has freshness and spiritual energy. The values of creative area of pastiche are as fellows - firstly, it provides the delightness through the disharmony by being released from the restraint and stress of the restricted society. Secondly, the characteristics of restoration generated by development and reproduced from imitation has become an origin of creation. Thirdly, the boundary between subculture and high-class culture would be dismantled and the elements of these culture are mixed to become a unique image through its abundance and compromise vague public culture. Fourthly, the pastiche fashion dismantles the basic structure of clothes to endow avant-garde esthetic appreciation. Fifthly, the folklore fashion representing the culture of minority and neighboring countries would become a new destroying the historically fixed clue. sixthly, the reinterpretation of pastiche fashion discovers the new regulations and beauties from Imitation to provides tow Important elements of post-capitalism fashion, dynamics and creativity. Lastly the consistent adaptation of image of fashion design with strong technical and theoretical basis can establish new fashions of this era with its unique creativeness.
