A Deep Learning Method for Brain Tumor Classification Based on Image Gradient

  • Tumors of the brain are the deadliest, with a life expectancy of only a few years for those with the most advanced forms. Diagnosing a brain tumor is critical to developing a treatment plan to help patients with the disease live longer. A misdiagnosis of brain tumors will lead to incorrect medical treatment, decreasing a patient's chance of survival. Radiologists classify brain tumors via biopsy, which takes a long time. As a result, the doctor will need an automatic classification system to identify brain tumors. Image classification is one application of the deep learning method in computer vision. One of the deep learning's most powerful algorithms is the convolutional neural network (CNN). This paper will introduce a novel deep learning structure and image gradient to classify brain tumors. Meningioma, glioma, and pituitary tumors are the three most popular forms of brain cancer represented in the Figshare dataset, which contains 3,064 T1-weighted brain images from 233 patients. According to the numerical results, our method is more accurate than other approaches.

LEAP 모형을 활용한 전자소재·부품업의 온실가스 감축 잠재량 분석 (Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potentials in a Electronic·Electrical components company using LEAP Model)

  • This study analyzed the energy demand, greenhouse gas emission and greenhouse gas reduction potential of Electronic Electrical components company. The LEAP model targeting long term energy plan was used to establish the most efficient plan for the companies by examining the climate change policy of government and the countermeasures by companies. A scenario was created by having 11 greenhouse gases reduction plans to be introduced from 2011 as the basic plan. Regarding input data, energy consumption by business place and by use, number of employee from 2009 to 2012, land area and change in number of business places were utilized. The study result suggested that approximately 13,800 TJ of energy will be spent in 2020, which is more than 2 times of 2012 energy consumption. When the integrated scenario based on the reduction plan of companies would be enforced, approximately 3,000 TJ will be reduced in 2020. The emission of greenhouse gases until 2020 was forecasted as approximately 760,000 ton $CO_2eq$. When the integrated scenario would be enforced, the emission will be approximately 610,000 ton $CO_2eq$, which is decrease by approximately 150,000 ton $CO_2eq$. This study will help the efficient responding of eElectronic Electrical components company in preparing detail report on objective management system and enforcement plan. It will also contribute in their image as environment-friendly companies by properly responding to the regulation reinforcement of government and greenhouse gases emission target based on environment policy.

Clinical Implementation of 3D Printing in the Construction of Patient Specific Bolus for Photon Beam Radiotherapy for Mycosis Fungoides

  • Creating individualized build-up material for superficial photon beam radiation therapy at irregular surface is complex with rice or commonly used flat shape bolus. In this study, we implemented a workflow using 3D printed patient specific bolus and describe our clinical experience. To provide better fitted build-up to irregular surface, the 3D printing technique was used. The PolyLactic Acid (PLA) which processed with nontoxic plant component was used for 3D printer filament material for clinical usage. The 3D printed bolus was designed using virtual bolus structure delineated on patient CT images. Dose distributions were generated from treatment plan for bolus assigned uniform relative electron density and bolus using relative electron density from CT image and compared to evaluate the inhomogeneity effect of bolus material. Pretreatment QA is performed to verify the relative electron density applied to bolus structure by gamma analysis. As an in-vivo dosimetry, Optically Stimulated Luminescent Dosimeters (OSLD) are used to measure the skin dose. The plan comparison result shows that discrepancies between the virtual bolus plan and printed bolus plan are negligible. (0.3% maximum dose difference and 0.2% mean dose difference). The dose distribution is evaluated with gamma method (2%, 2 mm) at the center of GTV and the passing rate was 99.6%. The OSLD measurement shows 0.3% to 2.1% higher than expected dose at patient treatment lesion. In this study, we treated Mycosis fungoides patient with patient specific bolus using 3D printing technique. The accuracy of treatment plan was verified by pretreatment QA and in-vivo dosimetry. The QA results and 4 month follow up result shows the radiation treatment using 3D printing bolus is feasible to treat irregular patient skin.

도시개발사업에서의 외부공간계획에 대한 상대적 중요도 분석 (Analyzing the Relative Importance of Exterior Space in Urban Development Projects)

  • As a basic study to analyze the relative importance of external space in urban development projects, this study selects evaluation indicators for external space planning and then analyzes systematic external space planning through expert surveys. The scope of the study is to examine the criteria of evaluation items for external space derived from existing studies and to suggest the importance and priority of evaluation items. As a research method, we reviewed the legal and research literature on landscape planning and external space-related guidelines, and conducted a primary review of external space planning evaluation items analyzed by questionnaire. The reviewed items were again reviewed and selected through expert group discussions (FGI). The selected evaluation items were surveyed by expert groups and analyzed in depth using the hierarchical analysis method (AHP). Looking at the relative importance of the calculated sub-items, among the 17 sub-items, 'planning open space' (.096) is the largest, followed by 'pedestrianization' (.082), 'linking with adjacent buildings, streets, parks, and green areas' (.077), 'securing public space through various planning techniques such as linking with pedestrian paths' (.066), 'Plan the placement, form, and scale of buildings in consideration of the identity of the destination' (.065), 'Plan buildings, streets, parks, and green spaces in an integrated and holistic manner' (.065), 'Harmonize with the surrounding environment (landscape)' (.063), 'Harmonize with surrounding buildings and apply landscape planning in urban planning' (.063), 'Entrances and lower floors of buildings are planned as parks for users and pedestrians' (.060), 'Preserve and expand green areas and establish maintenance plans for urban greening' (.054), 'Form the basis for a comfortable life for urban residents by providing long-term development directions' (.047), 'Activate community activities and plan pedestrian environments and streetscapes considering human scale' (.047), 'Establish and propose basic directions for urban greening' (.046), 'Plan buildings, streets, parks, and green areas considering the hierarchy and characteristics of the landscape structure' (.045), 'Plan for integrated land use' (.045), 'Create green axes in connection without cutting them due to development activities' (.044), and 'Apply barrier free design' (.034).

라이프케어를 위한 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육의 필요성과 활성화 방안 (A Study on the Educational Necessity and Activation Plan of Image Making Program for Life Care)

  • 본 연구는 국내 전문대학의 이미지메이킹 프로그램에 관련된 교과과정의 필요성과 교육내용 및 활성화 방안에 대한 실증분석을 통하여 취업을 앞둔 대학생들의 면접지도와 예비 직장인에게 있어서 대인 관계능력 향상을 위한 방안으로 대학 교과과정의 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 시도되었고, 이미지메이킹 교과목을 수강한 광주·전남지역 전문대학교 재학생 400명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 졸업 후 취업과 예비 직장인의 이미지 관리를 위해 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교과과정이 필요하고, 이미지를 객관적으로 파악하기 위해 다른 사람의 도움이 필요하다고 나타났다. 이미지메이킹 프로그램을 위한 적합한 강의실은 일반 강의실, 시청각 및 멀티미디어실, 전용 강의실 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육내용의 중요도는 태도(행동), 예절 및 인사법, 표정, 화법, 대인 관계법, 의복, 헤어스타일, 메이크업 순으로 나타났고, 교육내용의 중요 요소는 표정, 메이크업, 헤어스타일, 태도(행동), 대인 관계법, 화법, 의복, 예절 및 인사법 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육의 영향력 정도는 취업에 미치는 영향력, 대인관계에 미치는 영향력, 생활에 미치는 영향력 순으로 나타났다. 넷째, 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육 활성화 방안을 분석한 결과 적절한 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교육시점은 2학년부터이고, 교육시간은 한 학기 주 1회, 교과과정 구분은 교양이나 교양선택 과정을 희망하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이미지메이킹 프로그램 관련 교과내용은 예절 및 인사법, 메이크업 및 코디 방법, 취업 설명회, 기능 자격 취득을 위한 교육, 국내 기업체 연수 순으로 나타나 예절 및 인사법을 가장 희망하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 그리고, 이미지메이킹 프로그램 관련 지도자는 전공교수를 희망하고, 교육방법은 시청각 및 멀티미디어를 활용한 매체를 희망한다. 이미지메이킹 프로그램 관련 교육은 화법이나 목소리, 커뮤니케이션에 관해 분석하는 교육, 어울리는 헤어스타일 및 메이크업을 분석하고 실습할 수 있는 교육, 기업의 면접에 관한 교육, 워킹이나 자세교정에 관한 교육 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과 본 연구는 이미지메이킹 프로그램 교과과정의 활용방안에 대한 기초자료를 제공하였다.

아파트 단위 평면 변화과정에 관한 연구-안방 및 거실 중심으로- (A Study on the Change of Unit Floor Plan of Apartment House in Korea-Focused on Interior Image Preference using Computer Simulation-)

  • In the past thirty years, apartment house has been greatly developed and the housing supply has improved some degree. However, the fact is that interior space planning of apartment house still has a lot of problems. The purpose of this study is to research the change of interior room. The 160 examples of unit floor plan(40-85m2 i.e. 12.1py-25.7py) were selected and classified according to master bedroom type and living room area when was constructed by the city of Seoul and KNHC from 1970 to 1990. And then, the change of each area, size and ratio were analyzed and researched. The result of this research can be summarized as follows: 1. Size of unit floor plan was on the increase from 16.02py to 17.86py. 2. 2 bedroom type, master bedroom showed a rise of size and occupancy ratio. Living room grew larger than 1982-1991 for size and occupancy ratio. 3. 3 bedroom type, master bedroom was increased in size and occupancy ratio was reduced to 19.99%. Size of living room became broader than master bedroom and occupancy ratio(1972-1981) increased over 1982-1991. Through this analysis and research, this study is to provide the basic data for actural design process and to suggest future trend of apartment house.

  • The high prices and lack of information for satellite images prevent researchers from studying remote sensing and most non-professional people can't have the simple and easy solutions for the manipulation of satellite images. 'Satellite Imagery Information Management Center'(SIMC) project which is promoted by ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) from 2002 to 2005 in Korea have the purpose to provide the satellite images freely to the public domain and the solutions for the above mentioned problems. Our project have the following five systems; Data Acquisition System, Data Preservation System, Integrated Solution System, Technology Development System, Operation Plan System. Data Acquisition System collects the satellite images such as LANDSAT, IKONOS, etc. Data Preservation System consists of database which registers the diverse satellite images. Integrated Solution System gives the user of public domain for the web service which search, order and transfer the satellite images. Technology Development System has the many processing technologies for the satellite images. Finally, the Operation Plan system has the role to plan the future of our SIMC project. In this paper, we will give the result of SIMC Project for each five systems during the fast four years from 2002 to 2005.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the architectural visual identity, and scheme of conceptional extent of architectural visual identity through literature research and sample analysis by design factors for apartment design. Korea National Housing Corporation's Mapo apartment put first caterer which is continued about 30 years to solve shortage of houses by beginning and the impact of IMF and the price decontrol on second half in the 1990s have changed the housing status to commercial goods. Construction companies have introduced brand concept to satisfy consumer's appetite in production of house goods including apartment under market situation. Importance of visual identity in apartment design occupies has risen in heftily. However most companies are in condition of stay on two-dimensional application that uses symbol, logotype, and character assistance. Several high position construction companies are trying architectural visual identity, but those are applied in partial element and those are not going forward to systematic classification and synthetic visual identity plan within peculiarity of apartment complex. This study is to grasp plan and design tendency to acquire identity of design element of construction field and goods through design examination. In conclusion visual identity in apartment design is architectural visual identity on all of 2 dimensions and 3 dimension for application. Architectural visual identity is a language of form that prescribe identity about external appearance in combination with brand image.

업무공간의 조명 환경 실태 조사 연구 (A Study on the Status of Illumination Environment in Workplaces)

  • The purpose of this study is to examinethe present illumination conditions in office environment and to suggest an efficient illumination plan in office planning process. Illumination conditions in work environment were surveyed in 6 offices to investigate whether the present illumination conditions were appropriate to the work type. The results of this study are as follows: Most of the general Illuminance level in the area of work were all at an adequate level, except one. The average Illuminance level in the all meeting rooms were met for the standard. Illuminance in the all reception area were extremely over the standard, The illuminations of this area were rather designed according to the image of the company than the standard. As for the illumination method in the area of general work, four offices used a general lighting by a direct lighting type, while two offices used a general lighting and a task lighting at the same time. This survey suggested that first, each company should consider illumination plan in the building planning process, second, illumination plan considering the type of places is needed, and third, illumination environment may be differentiated according to the work type. In conclusion, efficient illumination environment should be considered in office building planning process, especially In terms of illumination materials and methods.

부산 신항만 욕망산 경관계획 (Mt. Yokmang Landscape Planning in Busan New Port)

  • Mt. Yokmang landscape design awarded first in [North container terminal site furtherance construction in Busan new port], design competition sponsoring in the Korea Container Terminal Authority in 2005. Design guideline was to propose the symbol of new port and to establish landscape plan in consideration of view and geological location. Because landscape plan required establishment of restoration plan for cutting slope, Mt. Yokmang became the major object. The purpose of planning are as follows. The first purpose is to minimize existent natural environment damage, and the second, to connect with ambit and create new image. The third is to provide place of rest and interchange for local resident. Reflecting stratum structure and landscape characteristics, cutting slope consisted of [utilization slope], [presentation slope], [landscape slope], and [ecological slope]. Vegetation design applied ecological restoration method through restoration of stratum, and eve environment-friendly afforestation, planned program that can connect area with existing ecosystem. In process that decides form of the cutting slope, analyze view structure and visual exposure in various access routes, sensitivity etc. was accomplished. Also, symbolic tower(Ocean Polaris) that presents in architecture and landscaping features, night landscape planning could gain synergy effect by keeping consistence with landscape and ecological planning. Passing through final design and construction process, I expect that the Mt. Yokmang will be a new landmark in Busan new port.
