Various types of sensors are used at industrial sites to measure vibration. With the increase in the diversity of vibration measurement methods, vibration monitoring methods using camera equipment have recently been introduced. However, owing to the physical limitations of the hardware, the measurement resolution is lower than that of conventional sensors, and real-time processing is difficult because of extensive image processing. As a result, most such methods in practice only monitor status trends. To address these disadvantages, a high-resolution vibration measurement method using image analysis of the edge region of the structure has been reported. While this method exhibits higher resolution than the existing vibration measurement technique using a camera, it requires significant amount of computation. In this study, a method is proposed for rapidly processing considerable amount of image data acquired from vision equipment, and measuring the vibration of structures with high resolution. The method is then verified through experiments. It was shown that the proposed method can fast measure vibrations of structures remotely.

Vibration measurements using image processing have been studied by many researchers as it can remotely measure vibration displacements at multiple points simultaneously. It is difficult, however, to obtain accurate displacement from the measured image signals because the resolution of image data is dependent on camera performance and normally lower than that of vibration transducer directly measured. This paper suggests the enhanced technique for vibration displacement measurement by applying the expected value of edge probability distribution to the varying pixel points in the image. The method can both increase the resolution limit of camera image and decrease the measurement errors. The working performance of the proposed technique is verified applying to the vibration measurement of a rotating machine.

This paper introduced a measurement method for image sticking based on human vision perception. Existing image sticking quantification method is mostly different from visible level by human perception. It takes a long time to measure image sticking which is degraded by time due to using a spot photometer, therefore many test samples could not be evaluated in a given short period of time in mass production line. However, the new measurement method in this paper is possible to evaluate a large quantity of samples in fast and high correlation with human perceptual level of image sticking.
The measurement of the fermoral anteversion is an important factor in the practice of orthopedic surgery. The anteversion is measured by means of the axis of head and neck of the femur. In this study. widely used computed tomography method of measuring anteversion was tested on femoral necks of patients. Measurement by the manual method and image viewer of computed tomography to determine the anteversion of femoral head were carried out on both femurs. In January and February 2001, 30 patients 3 to 6 years of age were randomly selected from Seoul National University Hospital. the purpose of this paper was to introduce a new method to measure femoral anteversion angle utilizing image viewer program. This new method was more accurate and convenient than the conventional manual method. No significant difference was observed between the manual method and the image viewer measurement of femoral anteversion. In conclusion, image viewer program was statistically more reliable in determining the angle of the fermoral anteversion.

The measurement of 3D surface strain using the image processing method is another approach for strain measurement. The advantage of this method is that strains at several points included in a captured image can be obtained automatically from only one process. In this study, the whole process of automated surface strain measurement is presented. The strain distribution on a LDH specimen is illustrated as a result of the trial to develope an automated strain measurement system.
The machine-vision based structural displacement measurement methods are widely used due to its flexible deployment and non-contact measurement characteristics. The accuracy of vision measurement is directly related to the image resolution. In the field of computer vision, super-resolution reconstruction is an emerging method to improve image resolution. Particularly, the deep-learning based image super-resolution methods have shown great potential for improving image resolution and thus the machine-vision based measurement. In this article, we firstly review the latest progress of several deep learning based super-resolution models, together with the public benchmark datasets and the performance evaluation index. Secondly, we construct a binocular visual measurement platform to measure the distances of the adjacent corners on a chessboard that is universally used as a target when measuring the structure displacement via machine-vision based approaches. And then, several typical deep learning based super resolution algorithms are employed to improve the visual measurement performance. Experimental results show that super-resolution reconstruction technology can improve the accuracy of distance measurement of adjacent corners. According to the experimental results, one can find that the measurement accuracy improvement of the super resolution algorithms is not consistent with the existing quantitative performance evaluation index. Lastly, the current challenges and future trends of super resolution algorithms for visual measurement applications are pointed out.
Image scaling is used for a variety of real-life applications. In order to evaluate the performance of transform functions, the image quality are compared together before and after processing. For the objective evaluation of the transform functions, the exact criterion of image quality is required, and various aspects approaches are practically performed. However, few researches have been conducted on image quality measurement considering the position of pixels that are skipped or newly generated in the process of the image scaling. Therefore this paper focuses on the objective image quality measurement for positions of skipped or estimated pixels in the image scaling. The proposed method generated new image quality measure considering the positional changes using a conventional measure and evaluated sensitivity about positional changes. Through this experiments, it is observed that conventional image quality measurement is definitely affected by positional changes of a skipped and estimated pixels. It is also confirmed that the proposed method is an objective criterion to represent image quality for positional changes of skipped or estimated pixels. The proposed method can be used as a criterion to evaluate the performance of image restoration or enhancement functions.

A system design technique of automatic thickness measurement and defect inspection system, which measures the thickness of the ALC(Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete) block and inspects the defect on a realtime basis is proposed. The image processing system was established with a CCD camera, an image grabber, and a personal computer without using assembled measurement equipment. The image obtained by this system was analyzed by a devised algorithm, specially designed for the enhanced measurement accuracy. For the realization of the proposed algorithm, the preprocessing method that can be applied to overcome uneven lighting environment, an enhanced edge decision method using 8 edge-pairs with irregular and rough surface, the unit length decision method in uneven condition with rocking objects, and the curvature calibration method of camera using a constructed grid are developed. The experimental results, show that the required measurement accuracy specification is sufficiently satisfied using our proposed method.

We propose an algorithm for the automatic measurement of concentricity and roundness using image processing technique. The proposed measuring method consists of the preprocessing process and the measuring process. In the measuring process, two types of concentricity measurement algorithm and one type of roundness measurement algorithm are proposed. We could measure the concentricity and roundness using input image from CCD camera, without using special measurement equipment. From the experimental results, we could find that the required measurement accuracy specification is sufficiently satisfied using our proposed method.
Multi-Layer Ceramic Circuit(MLCC) in the face of thousands of fine pitch multi hole is processed. However, the fine pitch multi hole has a size of only a few micrometers. Therefore, in order to curtail the measurement time and reduce error, the image processing measurement method is required. So, we proposed an image processing measurement algorithm which is required to accurately measure the fine pitch multi hole. The proposed algorithm gets image of the fine pitch multi hole, extracts object from the image by morphological process, and extracts the parameters of its position and feature by edge detecting process. In addition, we have used the sub-pixel algorithm to improve accuracy. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows 97% test-retest measurement reliability within 2 ${\mu}m$. We found that the algorithm was wellsuited for measuring the fine pitch multi hole.
