  • CT quality assurance imaging evaluation and enforcement as quantitative assessment by phantom image evaluation, assessment items include There are also contrasting the water attenuation coefficient, uniformity, noise, resolution, spatial resolution, 10mm slice thickness evaluation, contrast resolution, space for the resolution, the slice thickness evaluation, it is possible to estimate the error due to the evaluation by the subjective judgment of the tester, using a subjective error image processing program to be computed to minimize the objective evaluation. Basic recording conditions of the CT image quality control assessment is the same as special medical equipment quality control checks, the images were evaluated quantitatively using IMAGE J. For a CT attenuation coefficient, the uniformity, noise evaluation, were evaluated as CT quality control image the standard deviation of the measured value of the digital processing of image smaller and less noise uniform images than the, contrast and resolution assessment is the size of the diameter of a circle having a large the 1 inch, 0.75 inch, 0.5 inch quality if the diameter of the circle, was evaluated in the small circle in the near circle ellipse. Spatial resolution is evaluated by using a self-extracting features of an image processing program, all of the groups of members comprising the acceptance criteria to automatically extract, was evaluated to be very useful for the quantitative assessment. When CT image quality control assessment on the basis of the results such as the above, if using an image processing program to minimize the subjective judgment of the error evaluator and is determined more efficient than would be made quantitative evaluation.

  • With regard to current Neck CT, Bismuth shielding boards are often being used to reduce exposure to superficial organs such as the thyroid. However, beam hardening often occurs near superficial organs with Bismuth shielding boards and variations in CT Number, Noise, and Uniformity values occur severely. This study looked into the usefulness of shielding boards made from aluminum and silicone that can be easily obtained and have good machinability by comparing them to the existing Bismuth shielding board. An Aluminum 7.3mm and a Silicone 21.5mm were made with shielding ratios similar to that of the Bismuth(0.06 mmPb). TLD (TLD-100) was placed on the thyroid area of the Phantom (RS-108T) and 5 doses were measured for each. To compare image quality, CT Number and Noise variations in axial images of the thyroid area in Neck CT images were compared. Also, variations in CT Number, Noise, and Uniformity were measured in the AAPM phantom images and compared. In the results, when thyroid doses for each shielding board were compared, the Bismuth shielding board showed a 14% reduction, the Silicone 21.5mm showed a 15% reduction, and the Aluminum 7.3mm showed a 13% reduction compared to the Non-Shield. Statistically, there were no significant differences in comparison with the Bismuth shielding board. In CT Number variations of thyroid area images, variations were largest for the Bismuth shielding board. With Uniformity evaluations of the AAPM phantom, the Bismuth shielding board was found unsuitable and the Aluminum 7.3mm and Silicone 21.5mm satisfied the acceptance criteria. Research results show that the Aluminum 7.3mm and Silicone 21.5mm have a similar shielding ratio to the high-priced Bismuth shielding board that is currently being used clinically and in comparison tests of CT Number attenuation coefficient variations, Noise, and Uniformity which are phantom image evaluation items, they proved to be better than Bismuth shielding boards. If various shielding boards are made using aluminum and silicone, sized appropriately for superficial organs, it would be useful in decreasing patient doses.

  • One of important factors responsible for image sticking in AC PDP is a sputtering of MgO layer under ionic bombardment. Sputtered Mg particles can migrate to the neighbor cells, where the migration makes a change of discharge condition. It leads to the local non-uniformity of a luminescence in the panel, resulting in the image sticking.

  • We have proposed a novel algorithm for detecting scan alluk on the surface of a TFT-LCD device that is generated by non-uniform exposure during fabrication. The scan alluk is known to have similar intensity values on paths that are determined by the shape of lens for light exposure. Based on the observation, the proposed algorithm inspects the uniformity on the paths using 1D projection image of 2D LCD image and 2D backprojection image of the 1D image. We have shown the usefullness of the proposed method by theoretical analysis and experimental results.

  • Chip size distribution can be used to evaluate the cutting efficiency and to characterize the cutting behavior of rock during cutting and fragmentation process. In this study, a series of linear cutting tests was performed to investigate the effect of cutting conditions (specifically cut spacing and penetration depth) on the production and size distribution of rock chips. Linyi sandstone from China was used in the linear cutting tests. After each run of linear cutting machine test, the rock chips were collected and their size distribution was analyzed using a sieving test and image processing. Image processing can rapidly and cost-effectively provide useful information of size distribution. Rosin-Rammer distribution pamameters, the coarseness index and the coefficients of uniformity and curvature were determined by image processing for different cutting conditions. The size of the rock chips was greatest at the optimum cut spacing, and the size distribution parameters were highly correlated with cutter forces and specific energy.

  • In this paper, we propose three compensation methods to solve problems in high-resolution airborne infrared camera and to improve long-range target information acquisition performance. First, image motion and temporal noise reduction technique which is caused by atmospheric turbulence. Second, thermal blurring image correction technique by imperfect performance of NUC(Non Uniformity Correction) or raising the internal temperature of the camera. Finally, DRC(Dynamic Range Compression) and flicker removing technique of 14bits HDR(High Dynamic Range) infrared image. Through this study, we designed techniques to improve the acquisition performance of long-range target information of high-resolution airborne infrared camera, and compared and analyzed the performance improvement result with implemented images.

  • In this study, we performed the psychological analysis on campus facilities for university students with the observation that the evaluation on the physical environment of the campus is related to the image evaluation of the campus users. Specifically, we investigated the cognitive structure and the image evaluation structure of users, i.e., students, on the architectural and morphological elements of campus buildings. The investigation results are summarized as follows. 1) The cognitive structure of students on the architectural and morphological elements was different from building to building. In the case of architectural elements, the campus buildings were rated high, if they were designed with emphasis on symbolic elements, while the campus buildings with simple design were rated low. However, the morphological elements exhibited the opposite results. 2) We extracted six factors by performing the factor analysis for image evaluation. From the analysis results, we found that students showed a different structure of image evaluation for each building. In addition, the image evaluation structures were found to be related with the cognitive structures on architectural and morphological elements. 3) We also performed the correlation analysis between image evaluation structure and cognitive structure on architectural and morphological aspects. The analysis results indicated that each building showed different correlation patterns. In addition, the overall image became better, as they appraised "clarity" and "uniformity" more highly.

  • A kind of Subjective Imaging Effect Assessment (SIEA) method and its applications on intelligent imaging terminal design in engineering site are presented. First, some visual assessment indices are used to characterize the imaging effect: the image brightness, the image brightness uniformity, the color image contrast, the image edge blur, the image color difference, the image saturation, the image noise, and the integrated imaging effect index. A linear weighted function is employed to carry out the SIEA computation and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique is used to estimate its weights. Second, a SIEA software is developed. It can play images after the settings of assessment index or assessment reaction time, etc. Third, two cases are used to illustrate the application effects of proposed method: the image enhancement system design for surveillance camera and the imaging environment perception system design for intelligent lighting terminal. A Prior Sequential Stimulus (PSS) experiment is proposed to improve the evaluation stability of SIEA method. Many experiment results have shown the proposed method can realize a stable system design or parameters setting for the intelligent imaging terminal in engineering site.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate image quality change by truncated region in field of view (FOV) of attenuation correction computed tomography (AC-CT) in brain PET/CT. Materials and Methods Biograph Truepoint 40 with TrueV (Siemens) was used as a scanner. $^{68}Ge$ phantom scan was performed with and without applying brain holder using brain PET/CT protocol. PET attenuation correction factor (ACF) was evaluated according to existence of pallet in FOV of AC-CT. FBP, OSEM-3D and PSF methods were applied for PET reconstruction. Parameters of iteration 4, subsets 21 and gaussian 2 mm filter were applied for iterative reconstruction methods. Window level 2900, width 6000 and level 4, 200, width 1000 were set for visual evaluation of PET AC images. Vertical profiles of 5 slices and 20 slices summation images applied gaussian 5 mm filter were produced for evaluating integral uniformity. Results Patient pallet was not covered in FOV of AC-CT when without applying brain holder because of small size of FOV. It resulted in defect of ACF sinogram by truncated region in ACF evaluation. When without applying brain holder, defect was appeared in lower part of transverse image on condition of window level 4200, width 1000 in PET AC image evaluation. With and without applying brain holder, integral uniformities of 5 slices and 20 slices summation images were 7.2%, 6.7% and 11.7%, 6.7%. Conclusion Truncated region by small FOV results in count defect in occipital lobe of brain in clinical or research studies. It is necessary to understand effect of truncated region and apply appropriate accessory for brain PET/CT.

  • A mini-projector prototype employing a LED light source, a nontelecentric structure, and an LCOS panel for application in the integrated 3D display was fabricated. A seamless image was obtained by tilting an array of mini-projectors. Seamless quality was created by the excellent uniformity of the projection intensity on the mini-projector's screen, which was simulated as 98.34%. Great uniformity can be realized by optimizing the design of the light source and the optics configuration, which is the key to such realization.
