John Galliano 작품에 표현된 웃음의 미학 (The Comic Expression depicted on John Galliano's Works)

  • The historicism and romanticism of John Galliano's designs are rivaled only by the spectacular and theatrical nature of his fashion shows; romantic silhouette, the complexity of the cut and, of course, the painstaking attention to historical detail. Galliano's approach is very much that of a British designer in that he absorbs wildly diverging historical and cultural elements to invent new hybridizations of the contemporary. Galliano started his career as part of the wildly uninhibited avant-garde London design scene. His designs were twisted and artfully torn, weired and also beautiful. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Comic Expression depicted on John Galliano's works by borrowing the Comic. The Comic or the Comedy is a kind of art form that signifies exciting effects, and so, is a means of raising a laugh. The similar concepts of the Comic already were depicted by means of transformation and distortion of form, satire, fantastic pastiche and reversion of substances on Cubism, Dada, Surrealism, Pop Art and Postmodernism. Therefore, John Galliano selected the quixotic expressional methods to seek for having playful fun. The aesthetics of the Comic is the beauty based on quantitative or qualitative contradiction between expectations and realizations. That is, the Comic is characterized by getting rid of stress through laugh with clarifying a subject of contradiction. This study found that John Galliano's designs are expressed the quixotic comic on Historical image, Exotic image and Primitive image to make a complaint against the social evils.

연속 영상에서의 얼굴표정 및 제스처 인식 (Recognizing Human Facial Expressions and Gesture from Image Sequence)

  • 본 논문에서는 흑백 동영상을 사용하여 얼굴 표정 및 제스처를 실시간으로 인식하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 얼굴 인식분야에서는 형판 정합법과 얼굴의 기하학적 고찰에 의한 사전지식을 바탕으로 한 방법을 혼합하여 사용하였다. 혼합 방법에 의해 입력영상에서 얼굴 부위만을 제한하였으며, 이 영역에 옵티컬 플로우를 적용하여 얼굴 표정을 인식하였다. 제스처 인식에서는 엔트로피를 분석하여 복잡한 배경영상으로부터 손 영역을 분리하는 방법을 제안하였으며 , 이 방법을 개선하여 손동작에 대한 제스처를 인식하였다. 실험 결과, 입력 영상의 배경에 크게 영향을 받지 않고서도 동일 영상에서 움직임이 큰 부위를 검출하여 얼굴의 표정 및 손 제스처를 실시간적으로 인식할 수 있었다.

Facial Expression Recognition using 1D Transform Features and Hidden Markov Model

  • Facial expression recognition systems using video devices have emerged as an important component of natural human-machine interfaces which contribute to various practical applications such as security systems, behavioral science and clinical practices. In this work, we present a new method to analyze, represent and recognize human facial expressions using a sequence of facial images. Under our proposed facial expression recognition framework, the overall procedure includes: accurate face detection to remove background and noise effects from the raw image sequences and align each image using vertex mask generation. Furthermore, these features are reduced by principal component analysis. Finally, these augmented features are trained and tested using Hidden Markov Model (HMM). The experimental evaluation demonstrated the proposed approach over two public datasets such as Cohn-Kanade and AT&T datasets of facial expression videos that achieved expression recognition results as 96.75% and 96.92%. Besides, the recognition results show the superiority of the proposed approach over the state of the art methods.

복고풍 패션의 조형적 표현기법 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Change of a Formative Expression in the Restorative Fashion)

  • The present study purposed to compare formative expression between the fashion of the end of 19th century - early 20th century and that of the 21st century which were influenced by art nouveau and art deco. For this purpose, we analyzed contents in literature, Internet, etc.,. According to the results of this study, the formative expression of art nouveau were divided into continuous movement, optical illusion and decorative expression. Continuous movement was used to express fancy and soft images in the end of 19th century, and to express images giving the feeling of speed and tension in the 21st century. Optical illusion was expressed by the movement the thin and soft materials with the body movement and the movement of excessive frills adornment. And in movement produced using thin and soft materials and by the bias cutting method in the 21st century. Decorative expression was expressed as fantasy and decadent image in the end of 19th century and as mild passionate and modern image with color combination in the 21st century. The formative expression of art deco were divided into visual simplicity, contrastive loudness, and functional expression. Visual simplicity was expressed as a boyish image in the early of 20th century, but as a complex expression combining simplicity and femininity in the 21st century. Contrastive loudness was expressed by using colors both in the early of 20th century and 21st century. Functional expression was reinforced through the lightening of design and materials in the early of 20th century, but through using bias cutting high tech materials in the 21st century.

영화의 선호도 유창성에 영향을 미치는 영화의 처리 유창성 요인에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Factors of film's Processing Fluency Inducing Film's Preference Fluency)

  • 본 연구는 영화 관람과정에서 이루어지는 관객의 정보처리 용이성과 선호도 유창성의 관계를 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 영화에 대한 정보처리의 유창성 정도가 영화의 선호도 결정 용이성에 영향을 주다고 가정하고, 선행연구를 토대로 영화의 처리 유창성을 물리적 특성의 식별 용이성인 영화의 지각적 유창성과 표적에 대한 의미 처리 용이성을 의미하는 개념적 유창성으로 구분하였다. 그리고 영화를 구성하는 표현 요소들을 지각적 유창성요인과 개념적 유창성요인으로 구분하여 이들의 영향 관계를 탐색하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 첫째, 영화의 개념적 유창성과 지각적 유창성은 모두 영화의 선호도 유창성에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 소리 표현의 식별성과 배우의 역할 표현 식별성은 영화의 지각적 유창성에 영향을 주지만, 영상 표현의 식별성은 유의하지 않은 것으로 탐색되었다. 마지막으로, 대사 표현의 적합성과 스토리 구성력은 영화의 개념적 유창성에 영향을 주는 것으로 탐색되었다.

이미지 시퀀스 얼굴표정 기반 감정인식을 위한 가중 소프트 투표 분류 방법 (Weighted Soft Voting Classification for Emotion Recognition from Facial Expressions on Image Sequences)

  • Human emotion recognition is one of the promising applications in the era of artificial super intelligence. Thus far, facial expression traits are considered to be the most widely used information cues for realizing automated emotion recognition. This paper proposes a novel facial expression recognition (FER) method that works well for recognizing emotion from image sequences. To this end, we develop the so-called weighted soft voting classification (WSVC) algorithm. In the proposed WSVC, a number of classifiers are first constructed using different and multiple feature representations. In next, multiple classifiers are used for generating the recognition result (namely, soft voting) of each face image within a face sequence, yielding multiple soft voting outputs. Finally, these soft voting outputs are combined through using a weighted combination to decide the emotion class (e.g., anger) of a given face sequence. The weights for combination are effectively determined by measuring the quality of each face image, namely "peak expression intensity" and "frontal-pose degree". To test the proposed WSVC, CK+ FER database was used to perform extensive and comparative experimentations. The feasibility of our WSVC algorithm has been successfully demonstrated by comparing recently developed FER algorithms.

  • In this paper the authors present their attempt io realize a motion pattern detector that finds specified sequence of image from input motion image. The detector is intended to be used for time-varying facial expression understanding. Needless to say, facial expression understanding by machine is crucial and enriches quality of human machine interaction. Among various facial expressions, like blinking, there must be such expressions that can not be recognized if input expression image is static. Still image of blinking can not be distinguished from sleeping. In this paper, the authors discuss implementation of their motion pattern detector and describe experiments using the detector. Experimental results confirm the feasibility of the idea behind the implemented detector.

  • 이미지 왜곡 분야는 공학 및 예술 분야에서 다양하게 연구, 응용되어져 왔다. 본 연구는 이미지 왜곡에 관한 공학기술을 이용하여 예술적 감성을 표현하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 먼저, 이미지 왜곡의 예술적 표현에 대한 미학적 해석을 살펴본다. 또한 자기력을 이용한 이미지 왜곡이 예술적 표현방법이 될 수 있으며, 사용자 몰입요소를 포함하고 있음을 설명한다. 그리고 실제 Unity3D 엔진을 이용하여 구현을 보여줌으로써 자기력 기반의 이미지 왜곡이 예술적 표현의 이미지 왜곡으로 사용될 수 있는 가능성을 보여준다. 본 연구는 과학기술과 예술의 융합을 통한 창조적인 감성콘텐츠의 제작과 개발에 도움을 줄 수 있다.

동안이미지 연출을 위한 동안 메이크업에 관한 연구 (A study on baby face makeup to create a baby face image)

  • 동안 이미지를 위한 메이크업 기법으로서 일반적인 사항에 따라 동안 메이크업의 표현 기법에 대한 인식의 차이가 있을 것이다.' '전체적인 특성에 따라 동안 메이크업 표현 기법에 대한 인식의 차이가 있을 것'이라는 두 가지 가설이 뒷받침되었으며, 동안 이미지를 연출하기 위한 메이크업 기법은 남녀 모두에게 중요한 기능임은 물론, 외모로. 사회활동을 위한 '신체적 자원'으로 일상생활에서 심신의 능률향상과 정신능력의 현저한 향상이 있음을 확인하였다. 동안 이미지 메이크업 표현'에 대한 연구 결과를 통해 동안 이미지에 대한 인식과 관심은 높지만 동안 이미지 제작에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 동안 메이크업을 위한 표정 요소의 필요성은 동안 이미지 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 예상되며, 본 연구는 동안 이미지 및 동안 메이크업을 위한 외적 얼굴 관리에 중점을 두었다.

비대면 화상 플랫폼에서의 패션 이미지 표현 특성 -20~30대 한국 직장인 여성을 중심으로- (Fashion Image Expression on Video Conferencing Platforms -Focusing on Korean Female Office Workers in Their 20s and 30s-)

  • Over the past three years, even amidst viral threats, a notable shift towards online interactions has been observed. This trend persists the presence of significant viral concerns. Our study centered on female office workers in their twenties and thirties in Korea, seeking to comprehend how they enhance and present their external image in the digital era. We explored the use of digital devices and fashion choices that enable them to amplify their self-expression in video conferences. Using a mix of surveys and in-depth interviews, we employed snowball sampling to recruit twelve participants. These women were given the opportunity to shape their digital persona either to uphold their current image or to adapt it for interactions where they weren't face-to-face. Their desired images fell into three distinct categories: an authoritative professional image, a clean modern image, and a natural image. Depending on the context, the participants aimed to convey these images independently or in various combinations. Our findings suggest the need to develop strategies for acknowledging and projecting individual fashion identities in non-face-to-face interactions. Such strategies would empower individuals to better align their online personas with their desired self-image, whether it's professional, modern, clean, natural, or a combination thereof.
