Detection of Face Expression Based on Deep Learning (딥러닝 기반의 얼굴영상에서 표정 검출에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, researches using LBP and SVM have been performed as one of the image - based methods for facial emotion recognition. LBP, introduced by Ojala et al., is widely used in the field of image recognition due to its high discrimination of objects, robustness to illumination change, and simple operation. In addition, CS(Center-Symmetric)-LBP was used as a modified form of LBP, which is widely used for face recognition. In this paper, we propose a method to detect four facial expressions such as expressionless, happiness, surprise, and anger using deep neural network. The validity of the proposed method is verified using accuracy. Based on the existing LBP feature parameters, it was confirmed that the method using the deep neural network is superior to the method using the Adaboost and SVM classifier.

  • The purpose of this study is to pointed artistic representation design on fashion through observation, integrating of the formative arts. Above all, designing principle should be considered with trend, styling ,coloring. Suggested designing study is the essence of present methods. ① Clothing as an art ② Expression in fashion design ③ Creation of the artistic sense ④ The various techniques of design ⑤ Perform the steps of design (Ⅰ) ∼ (Ⅲ) That is to say, fashion is reflected in the spirit of painters as well as designers. Art is close and common relationship between individual will-to-form and the sense of value. Thus Art wear is represented the minute expression of designing the function with artistic originality. Fashion design is demanded to do motivation by means of artistic representation. 2. Smart, sophisticated image effects, avoiding posterlike garish appearance. 3. It is supported for fashion information which is relating to design through industry society.

  • This study is aimed to analyze the method of movement expression in the Space-Time of Modern Visual Art. According to the results of analysis. the following is obtained. (1) The still object is perceived by the sense or optical illusion, and its whole image is made through the information processing prodedure. The concept of Space-Time is integrated into the constructivist works by the composition of image through transforming the position of the fundamental geometry and projecting it. (2) The traditional notion that the work of art is still concept of is changed. The movement of observer is caused by inducing the direction and concept of time through the object in three dimensional space.

  • This study aims to present a direction for the efficient TV commercial marketing strategy at the market by analyzing the relationship between technology and the smart-phones' TV commercial especially 'iPhone series' and 'galaxy S series'. As the results of the factor analysis of the hardwares, slogans and TV commercial for the target smart-phones, TV commercial is the way of the expression for the technology through the meaning of the value. And the meaning of value is defined by reclassifying the expression technique of each scene of TV commercial into nouns and adjectives. Setting a slogan is very important because it is making memorable motto or phrase for the consumer and it decide the image of the product. So the correct configuration of the slogan is a keystone that is important for creating a TV commercial and has a profound impact on product image formation.

Synthesis of Realistic Facial Expression using a Nonlinear Model for Skin Color Change (비선형 피부색 변화 모델을 이용한 실감적인 표정 합성)

  • Facial expressions exhibit not only facial feature motions, but also subtle changes in illumination and appearance. Since it is difficult to generate realistic facial expressions by using only geometric deformations, detailed features such as textures should also be deformed to achieve more realistic expression. The existing methods such as the expression ratio image have drawbacks, in that detailed changes of complexion by lighting can not be generated properly. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear model for skin color change and a model-based synthesis method for facial expression that can apply realistic expression details under different lighting conditions. The proposed method is composed of the following three steps; automatic extraction of facial features using active appearance model and geometric deformation of expression using warping, generation of facial expression using a model for nonlinear skin color change, and synthesis of original face with generated expression using a blending ratio that is computed by the Euclidean distance transform. Experimental results show that the proposed method generate realistic facial expressions under various lighting conditions.

  • Facial expression is an effective tool to express human emotion. In this paper, a facial expression analysis method based on the base faces and their blending ratio is proposed. The seven base faces were chosen as axes describing and analyzing arbitrary facial expression. We set up seven facial expressions such as, surprise, fear, anger, disgust, happiness, sadness, and expressionless as base faces. Facial expression was built by fitting generic 3D facial model to facial image. Two comparable methods, Genetic Algorithms and Simulated Annealing were used to search the blending ratio of base faces. The usefulness of the proposed method for facial expression analysis was proved by the facial expression synthesis results.

Fake News Detection on Social Media using Video Information: Focused on YouTube (영상정보를 활용한 소셜 미디어상에서의 가짜 뉴스 탐지: 유튜브를 중심으로)

  • Purpose The main purpose of this study is to improve fake news detection performance by using video information to overcome the limitations of extant text- and image-oriented studies that do not reflect the latest news consumption trend. Design/methodology/approach This study collected video clips and related information including news scripts, speakers' facial expression, and video metadata from YouTube to develop fake news detection model. Based on the collected data, seven combinations of related information (i.e. scripts, video metadata, facial expression, scripts and video metadata, scripts and facial expression, and scripts, video metadata, and facial expression) were used as an input for taining and evaluation. The input data was analyzed using six models such as support vector machine and deep neural network. The area under the curve(AUC) was used to evaluate the performance of classification model. Findings The results showed that the ACU and accuracy values of three features combination (scripts, video metadata, and facial expression) were the highest in logistic regression, naïve bayes, and deep neural network models. This result implied that the fake news detection could be improved by using video information(video metadata and facial expression). Sample size of this study was relatively small. The generalizablity of the results would be enhanced with a larger sample size.

Color Image Analysis of Cosmetic Web-Site for Color Marketing

  • This study aims to derive the sensitive image analysing the color tones based on the web-sites of cosmetic brand and to know how the web-site color tones and the color tone image as visual factor for information transfer do influence the effective communication. 10 cosmetic brand web-sites are selected based on the pre survey, and the main page color tones of cosmetic brand web-site are analyzed by Color Catch and Munsell Conversion program, whereas the composition of color tones and color image such as the main trend colors, secondary colors, accent colors and etc are analyzed by a graphic professional program 'Adobe Photoshop'. 5 color tone groups are classified as Black&White, Green&White, Blue&White, Purple&White and Red&White according to the color distribution chart, and the emotional language is derived applying them to the pre research and IRI image scale. The color association is empirically analyzed by a survey method. The study results finally show Black&White is proper for expression of high quality and modern image, Green&White for pure and clean image, Blue&White for cool and transparent image, Purple&White for mysterious and elegant image respectively. This study results are necessary for plan of color delivering the strong transferring power of visual information the time when to make the effective web-sites, and it hopefully will be utilized as the basic data for the color marketing to actively express the brand identity and to satisfy the consumers' sensitivity.

  • The recent innovations in technoscience have changed the patterns of everyday lives for women and their politics of identity. Among the various debates on a women's relationship to technoscience, Donna J. Haraway's theory of the cyborg has been one of the most influential, as it provides new modes of conceiving subjectivity as well as new notions of women's shared experiences. For Haraway, the cyborg is an image of a female subject that will lead the future of science and technology as an amalgamation of non-hierarchical differences. This study examines the characteristics and meanings for the distortion, anti-aesthetic body, and clothing in fashion design through the cyborg feminism theory. Characteristics and meanings of the cyborg in fashion designs find their expression through mechanical images, distorted physical transformations, reconstruction of a destructed body, expression of an anatomical and heterogeneous body, and the persona image. Such expressions are not simply an act of distorting and destroying a body image but extending the category of a body, but of going beyond the limit of a real body and create a new body.

  • This study shows that there is an essential difference between colors of animation and live action film through the expressive colors of 2D animation as distinct from three dimension space. While live action film has an obvious object of representation, the image of 2D animation is a creature made by human without the process of mechanical representation. And this is revealed sharply in the expressive colors of 2D animation. Therefore the expressive colors of 2D animation are the important points in which the autonomous meaning of animation image is revealed.
