표면 검사를 위한 조도 균제도 기반 하이브리드 조명계 설계 (Hybrid Illumination System Design based on Illuminance Uniformity for Surface Inspection)

  • In this paper, the hybrid illumination system for effectively detecting surface defects in steel plate with lowcontrast, non-uniformity and featureless is designed based on illuminance uniformity. First of all, characteristics of steel plate defects were considered and typical inspection illumination system is implemented. Optimum illumination parameters for uniformly illuminating an inspection area in the typical illumination system are selected based on the illuminance uniformity and illuminance distribution measurement. The illuminance uniformity and illuminance distribution are measured using an illuminometer based on the arduino. Through illuminance distribution analysis of the typical illumination, an hybrid illumination is designed by fusing bi-directional illumination and coaxial illumination. The hybrid illumination showed higher uniformity ratio and illuminance distribution than the typical illuminations. The hybrid illumination system showed the ability to uniformly illuminate the entire inspection region of steel plate surface.

도시근린공원의 야간조도분포의 특성 (Characteristics of th Distribution of Night Illumination Level at Urban Neighborhood Parks)

  • The purpose of this study is to research and analyze the distribution of night illumination level at urban neighborhood parks and to show its characteristics. And this is used basic data ensuring safety and satisfying aesthetic and psychological desires of people who use urban neighborhood parks at night. To research and analyze the distribution of illumination level at urban neighborhood parks at night. To research and analyze the distribution of illumination level at urban neighborhood parks, I selected 8 urban neighborhood parks as the subject of research in this study, set the measuring standard of illumination level, and measured the illumination level by the measuring standard. The results of this study are as follows; 1. Currently, total average illumination level of urban neighborhood parks was lower than the minimum standard of illumination level I KS A 3011-1993. 2. Average illumination level of each place in urban neighborhood parks appeared variously from low level to high level. But this was lower than the minimum standard illumination level in KS A3011-1993 like total average illumination level. 3. The higher was total average illumination level of urban neighborhood parks, the more various was brightness of places. Although users' aesthetic and mental desire or behavioral aspect relate with safety cannot be found by only survey and analyses of illumination level, it is judged that first, illumination level of the standard of the lightness should be analyzed to find user's mental states and behaviors in external space at night. Therefore, it is considered that this study, which analyzed characteristics illumination level as basic data, has a significance. The study continuing for other illuminative environmental factors suitable in the place is required because the brightness of places may not be measured by only illumination level. And the proper illumination level in outdoor places should be showed in considering psychological and behavioral aspects of human as people may have their own sense of brightness.

Development of an Illumination Measurement Device for Color Distribution Based on a CIE 1931 XYZ Sensor

  • In this paper, an easy-to-use measurement device for illumination distribution is developed. The device consists of a sensor array module, a control module, and a PC interface. The sensor array module incorporates CIE 1931 color sensors and the ARM-based 96 MHz microcontroller in the control module for measurement and data processing. The sensor array module contains 64 color sensors arranged in a $16{\times}4$ array. The sensitivity of the sensor array module can be adjusted depending on the illumination level to be measured. The measurement data and control signals are exchanged via USB 2.0 standard. To demonstrate the performance of the device, the illumination distribution is measured for colors of red, green, and blue and is graphically shown. The device can be used for measurement of the illumination distribution, design and adjustment of LED illumination.

  • In this paper, an illumination optical system that can mitigate the saturation phenomenon in the center of an image (caused by the typical flexible-endoscope illumination system using LEDs with Lambertian light distribution) is designed. When an LED with Lambertian light distribution is used as a light source, the amount of light in the center of the endoscopic illumination system is relatively high, compared to the periphery, causing saturation in the image. Since this phenomenon causes difficulty in detecting the patient's lesion, it is necessary to find a lighting-system design that can alleviate the saturation phenomenon. Therefore, in this paper a lighting system with bat-wing light distribution, which can lower the intensity at the center and secure the maximum amount of light at the maximum light distribution angle, is designed. In addition, to check the performance of the designed lighting system, a simulation of illumination and luminance is conducted for a system using a common aspherical lens with otherwise the same components. As a result, it is confirmed that the lighting system designed in this paper effectively reduces the luminance value at the center and secures more luminance values at the periphery than the familiar lighting system.

지역적 통계량을 이용한 고속 환경-광 가림 볼륨 가시화 (Fast Ambient Occlusion Volume Rendering using Local Statistics)

  • This study presents a new method to improve the speed of high quality volume rendering. We improve the speed of ambient occlusion which is one of the global illumination techniques used in traditional volume visualization. Calculating ambient occlusion takes much time because it determines an illumination value of a sample by integrating opacities of nearby samples. This study proposes an improved method for this by using local statistics such as averages and standard deviations. We calculate local statistics for each volume block, a set of nearby samples, in pre-processing time. In the rendering process, we efficiently determine the illumination value by assuming the density distribution as a normal distribution. As the results, we can generate high quality images that combine ambient occlusion illumination with local illumination in real time.

  • A configuration of illumination for high-speed color document scanner has been proposed utilizing white light emitting diode and transparent plastic lightguide. The design of illumination system including lightguide for high optical efficiency and uniform image quality is performed based on a simulation using ray-tracing method. The device characteristics are also experimentally evaluated in terms of illumination distribution against longitudinal and transverse direction on document plane. Uniform illumination distribution about 85% of in longitudinal and transverse direction is realized by control of mechanical dimension and position of lightguide.

단거리 조사 시 넓은 면적에 균일한 조명도를 가지는 비대칭 조명 광학계 설계 연구 (Study on the Design of Asymmetric Lighting with Uniform Illumination Over a Large Area at Short Distance)

  • 본 논문에서는 넓은 조사 면적에 단거리 조사시에도 균일한 조명도 분포를 가지도록 하는 비대칭 배광의 조명 광학계에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 단거리에 설치되는 조명의 경우 조사 거리가 짧기 때문에 충분한 배광 분포 형성이 되지 못해 조명의 균일도를 만족하기 어렵다. 또한 시인성을 위해 조명기기가 기울어져 설치되기 때문에 비대칭 배광의 조명 설계가 요구된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 비대칭 배광을 가지는 조명 광학계 설계를 통해 근거리 조사 시에도 대상 표면에 균일한 조명도를 얻을 수 있었으며, 이를 근거리 조명 중 하나인 라이선스 램프에 적용하여 법규 기준을 만족하는 것을 확인하였다.

미술관에서의 상부 띠형 천창의 채광분포에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of Illuminance Distribution in Fine Art Museum with Girdle Skylight Type)

  • Character and illuminance distribution of daylighting is very important for the architectural plan in museum. Those data show bases for exhibition space design with daylighting and play a decisive role in visual perception of articles and space aesthetic. The goal of this paper was therefore to analyze the illuminance distribution in fine art museum with 3 typical girdle skylight types which are devided according to the art of protection from glare. This Experiment proved that they had a striking contrast with regard to the ratio of daylight illumination and illuminance distribution in spite of the same purpose of those development. The girdle skylight with a translucent glass showed the strongest value of the ratio of daylight illumination, but inequable illuminance distribution in space, excepting the area of the wall. However, the latticed reflector of light refracted daylight in the direction of wall and made illuminance distribution very equable in whole space. The ratio of daylight illumination at the girdle skylight which was located at the verge of the ceiling, was highest at the upper part of the wall and was reduced gradually from there, by way of the middle and under part of the wall, to the center of space.

몬테카를로법을 이용한 실내조도 계산 (Interior Lighting Calculation using Monte-Carlo Method)

  • A computer program to calculate the illumination distributions of a room interior was made. The room has a light source with arbitrary intensity distribution. The program follows the paths of the particles from the light sources, and the illumination distribution is calculated by repeating this following to many particles. Monte Carlo method is applied to the decision of the direction of the particle from light source, and the new direction of the reflected particles. Making simulation program on this basis, illumination distributions were measured for various light sources and wall surfaces tocertify the calculated results. As a results, it is known that the calculated distribution would be correct if the size of the light source is sufficiently smaller than the size of the room.

Measurement System of Photosynthetic Photon Flux Distribution and Illumination Efficiency of LED Lamps for Plant Growth

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a measurement system for determining photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) distribution and illumination efficiency of LED lamps. Methods: The system was composed of a linear moving sensor part (LMSP), a rotating part to turn the LMSP, a body assembly to support the rotating part, and a motor controller. The average PPF of the LED lamp with natural cooling and water cooling was evaluated using the measurement system. Results: The PPF of LED lamp with water cooling was 3.1-31.7% greater than that with natural cooling. Based on the measured value, PPF on the horizontal surface was predicted. Illumination efficiency of the LED lamp was slightly increased with water cooling by 3.4%, compared with natural cooling. A simulation program using MATLAB was developed to analyze the effects of the vertical distance from lighting sources to growing bed, lamp spacing, and number of LED lamps, on the PPF distribution on the horizontal surface. The uniformity of the PPF distribution of the LED lamps was fairly improved with 15 cm spacing, as compared to the 5 cm spacing. By simulation, PPF of $217.0{\pm}27.9{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ was obtained at the vertical distance of 40 cm from six LED lamps with 12 cm spacing. This simulated PPF was compared to the measured one of $225.9{\pm}25.6{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. After continuous lighting of 346 days, the relative PPF of LED lamps with water cooling and natural cooling was decreased by 6.6% and 22.8%, respectively. Conclusions: From these results, it was concluded that the measurement system developed in this study was useful for determining PPF and illumination efficiency of artificial lighting sources including LED lamp.
