  • IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs)는 광대역 무선 인터넷 접속기술로 널리 이용되고 있으며 WLAN을 기반으로 하는 음성 서비스(VoWLAN)와 같은 새로운 응용들이 등장하고 있다. VoWLAN서비스들은 휴대형 장치를 통해 서비스가 되며 베터리 전력을 이용해서 동작하는 휴대형 장치들을 위해 사용 전력을 최소화하여 대기시간을 최대화하는 기술이 필수적이다. 그러나 IEEE 802.11 WLAN 규격은 VoWLAN 서비스와 관련하여 사용 전력을 최적으로 이용하는 동작을 지원하지 않는다. 본 논문에서 페이징, idle 핸드오프 및 지연 핸드오프로 구성되는 새로운 Idle Mode operation을 제안한다. Idle mode operation를 기반으로 동작하는 모바일 호스트는 미리 정의되어 있는 페이징 영역내에서는 핸드오프를 하지 않는다. 모바일 호스트가 새로운 페이징 영역으로 진입할 때에만 최소한의 호처리 신호를 발생시키는 idle 핸드오프를 수행한다. 기존의 IEEE 802.11 WLAN은 idle mode를 지원하지 않기 때문에 Power Saving Mode (PSM)과 IP paging 기법을 동시에 이용해 왔으나 전력소비 효율이 좋지 못하였다. 본 논문은 구현을 통하여 새롭게 제안한 방식인 idle mode operation이 실현가능 함을 증명하고 기존의 방식과 비교하여 전력소비 효율이 더 뛰어남을 보인다.

  • Along with the wide acceptance of IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN), new applications such as Internet protocol (IP) telephony over WLAN are fast emerging today. For battery-powered IP phone devices, the life time extension is a key concern for the market acceptance while today's 802.11 is not optimized for snch an operation. In this paper, we propose a novel idle mode operation, which comprises paging, idle handoff, and delayed handoff. Under the idle mode operation, a mobile host(MH) without any active session does not need to perform handoff within a predefined paging area (PA). Only when it enters a new PA, an idle handoff is performed. The proposed idle mode allows an MH without traffic to extend its life time. We develop a new analytical model in order to comparatively evaluate our proposed scheme. The numerical resnlts demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes with respect to power consumption.

슬라이딩 모드 관측기에 의한 최적의 공회전 제어기 설계 (Design of Optimal Idle Speed Controller by Sliding Mode Observer)

  • This paper presents an approach to nonlinear engine idle controller and intake manifold absolute pressure(MAP) observer based on mean torque production model. A stable engine idle speed is important in that the unstable engine Idle mode can make engine to drooping or stall state. A sliding fuzzy controller has been designed to control engine idle speed under load disturbance. A sliding observer is also developed to estimate the intake manifold absolute pressure and compared with the actual MAP sensor value. The sliding mode observer has shown good robustness and good tracking performance. The inputs of sliding fuzzy controller are the errors of rpm and MAP. The output is a duty cycle(DC) for driving a idle speed control valve(ISCV).

  • IEEE 802.16e 표준은 sleep 모드와 idle 모드의 두 저전력 모드를(power saving mode: PSM) 정의하고 있다. 이들은 모드 천이시 단말과 망간 상태 정보 유지 여부에 따라 소모 전력 측면에서 성능이 달라진다. 따라서 802.16e 단말의 전력 소모 최적화를 위해서는 각 기법의 성능에 영향을 주는 요소들을 모두 고려한 상세한 성능분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 단말의 이동성과 호 사용 빈도를 고려하여 소모 전력 측면에서 두 PSM의 성능분석 모델을 제안하고, idle 모드가 전력 소모 측면에서 sleep 모드보다 우수하다는 것을 보인다. 또한 분석 결과와 모의실험과의 비교를 통해 제안한 분석 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • NVH issue at idle condition is one of the major concerns of Passenger and Commercial Vehicle including Sports Utility Vehicle Especially steering wheel vibration at idle condition is a very complex problem and affected by firing frequency of the engine, stiffness of a steering wheel system and the body to which the steering wheel system is attached. To avoid vibration mode coupling between each system of a vehicle, experimental and analytical method has been used at the pre-prototype stage. The resonance frequency of the body and the frame has been decoupled by CAE and the resonance frequency of steering wheel system has been set in between the 1st bending frequency of body and frame. These Results has been used as design guidelines tot the prototype drawing stage. The experimental verification of tile modified pre-prototype vehicle shows good results of the vibration mode decouple. Modal test of prototype vehicle also confirms the vibration mode decouple between each system.

  • In this paper, an integrated nonlinear sliding mode observer and controller has been designed in order to control of an automotive engine idle speed. The primary objective of the engine idle speed control is to maintain the desired engine idle speed despite of various torque disturbances via estimating air mass flow at the location of the injector in intake manifold by using a sliding mode observer. Simulation results show that the case where both throttle angle and ignition time are used as control inputs outperforms the case where just only throttle angle is used as a control input.

안정한 엔진 공회전 모드를 위한 제어기 설계 (Controller Design for Stable Engine Idle Mode)

  • The engine idle speed mode becomes worse as one drives a vehicle for several years. This is due to ageing of engine and power-train parts. In this case, unstable idle conditions such as engine stall and droop are frequently experienced when the engine gets heavy torque loads due to power steering pump and air conditioning compressor. The objective of this paper is to study on the idle speed control using PID controller under load disturbances. The input of the PID controller is an error of rpm. The output of the PID controller is an ISCV duty cycle. The dSPACE Controller Boards are used to interface with engine. The on-vehicle test is realized using by SIMULINK and BLOCKSETS tools. The real time interface control panel supplied by Control Desk S/W is designed to have good results in engine idle speed control.

도심주행에 있어서 가솔린 자동차의 연료소비 및 오염물질 배출특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of gasoline consumption and CO emission in urban traffic)

  • The relationship between vehicle driving pattern and fuel consumption in urban area was studied in Seoul along three representative routes using a test car equipped with all the instruments required for recording modes of traffic and measuring fuel consumption. Correlation with idle speed, fuel consumption and CO concentration of car in use was also measured. The average vehicle speed in Seoul was 31.4 km/h and the time spent in different modes was 23.0% in idle mode, 22.5% in acceleration mode, 32.4% in cruising mode and 22.3% in deceleration mode, respectively. Hence, traffic flow was suggested to be relatively smooth. Fuel consumption per unit distance, .phi. was closely related with trip time spent per unit distance, t, and correlation coefficient obtained from the test car was 0.925, and the relationship between .phi. and t was also obtained from the linear regression with the following equation. .phi.=42.87+0.38 t. Idle speed of vehicle in use was mostly adjusted low and cars which were over the permissible standard of CO concentration (4.5%) were 50% or more. As the idle speed decreased, the fuel consumption was decreased, while the CO concentration was increased. Therefore, the decrease of fuel consumption can not be expected with only a decrease in idle speed.

  • A diesel forklift truck under 3-ton class has disadvantages in the vibration transmission path. Because the weight ratio of body structure to powertrain which is source of excitation force is lower th an a mid-class forklift. In addition, the torsional and bending vibration mode frequencies of body structure are within the engine excitation frequency range, then high idle vibration generated by resonance. In this paper vehicle body structure design and optimization technique considering idle vibration reduction are presented. Design sensitivity analysis is applied to search the sensitive of design parameters in body structure. The design parameters such as thickness and pillar cross section were optimized to increase the torsional and bending vibration mode frequencies.

  • 홈 게이트웨이는 유비쿼터스 홈 서비스를 지속적으로 제공하기 위해 24시간 가동되므로 연간 소모하는 전력의 규모가 크다. 네트워크의 유휴 시간에 최소 전력을 사용하는 전력 절감 모드를 적용하면 이러한 전력 소모를 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문의 전력 절감 모드 결정 알고리즘은 유휴 시간이 시작되면 유휴 시간의 누적된 정보를 토대로 현재의 유휴 시간의 길이를 예측하고, 그 결과에 따라 전력 절감 모드로 전환한다. 전력 절감 모드에서 간단한 제어용 프로토콜 데이터는 활성 모드로의 전환 없이 프록시로 처리한다. 그리고 사용자 트래픽이 존재할 경우에만 활성 모드로 전환한다. 이러한 알고리즘을 검증하기 위해서는 흠 네트워크에서 트래픽 데이터를 수집하여, 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 그 결과 기존 방식에 비해 최소 14%에서 최대 49%의 전력 절감 효과를 보였다.
