  • Objectives : The authors performed this study to further understand Saam acupuncture method in an aspect of formation process. Methods : We were finding Saam's idea in a preface of the book. And we analyzed Saam acupuncture patterns to understand their formation. Results & Conclusion : We assume that Saam acupuncture patterns has formed over time. We were able to split their patters into three phases. That is Primitive-phase, Basic-phase and Practical-phase. We think they are traces of Formation Process. In the first, Saam found DongHaeng-acupoints that have in common Five Element between the five viscera and acupoint. And then, he compounded other meridian's DongHeng-acupoints to control self meridian. Finally acupoints of self meridian were added.

  • With the development of IT technology, various smart products and services have been spread in our daily life, providing users with convenience and emotional satisfaction. Particularly, input and output technologies, sensor technologies, and intelligent system technologies have offered new opportunities for diverse interaction patterns and new user experiences. This research started from the interest in the idea generation of product designers who need to combine various technological aspects with users' needs. The goal of this research is to propose an interaction design framework which can be used in an idea generation stage. To do so, first, the concept and characteristics of smart products were studied through literature reviews, and the interaction technologies, including input/output modality and context-aware technologies, were also investigated. Then, the frameworks that have been proposed in the deisgn fields were reviewed. This paper finally proposed the interaction design framework and explained its application to the idea generation, using several case studies. The proposed framework consists of four categories: product components, context-awareness elements, information input elements, and feedback output elements. Each of these are divided into several sub-categories, focused on users' needs. Sub-categories includes some elements of interaction, and each of the elements is explained with an existing smart product/system. The paper also describes how the proposed framework would be used in the idea generation process, using some design ideation examples. In the future study, more various concept ideas will be proposed through some elaborated case studies, and the framework is expected to be verified in terms of its possibility as an idea generation tool.

  • Balla within Italian art is characterized by the irreducibility of proteiforme work. He was aware of the possibility of abolishing all the barriers between major arts and minor arts and he placed dissemination of art in life: He applied his idea of a lively, joyous art to the world around him. His irruption of art into life appeared in futurist clothing. As a father of Futurist fashion he designed the futurist dress for men and women. It was invented a new type of dress. It was conceived as the realisation of his art-life-festivity and created with an mimic funtion of modern city. In futurist men's out-fit, he eliminated static lines, forms and colors and he used asymmetrical cuts and various strong bright colors. The colors was the determinent of factor of use of clothing. Women's dress was secondary to his reevaluation of the male dress but it was current with other European trend. He made dynamic patterns in textile design, which were the key point in the futurist design. The factors of the futurist textile design were abstract character, dynamic character and asymmetrical character. But the patterns was not related to the dynamic forms. His invention of the new style was simple form with dynamic patterns as a modernizing factor in clothing design.

  • The purpose of this study was to make patterns for lingerie look after examining expressive characteristics and constructive elements of lingerie look. As underwear became outerwear, position of wearing, materials, and details had changed, and the phenomenon to expose one's body has increased. The constructive elements found in the lingerie look were classified into silhouette, fastening, dart, and cutting line. Many of corset looks revealed cutting lines such as diagonal, perpendicular, and horizon. Brassiere look used perpendicular rutting lines or horizontal cutting lines passing through the bust point in order to highlight the volume by adding darts. There were styles Of chemise looks that used princess lines or separately added a brassier on the breast. Based on the examination of the elements, a total of four apparel works were created, including one flat pattern and three draping patterns. With new infra-apparel designs and patterns, this study was able to artificially highlight the body and express the beauty of costume through revelation of body. In addition, it explored the possibility that the phenomenon that underwear becomes outerwear may be a new idea of dress designing.

  • Considering a path represented by a sequence of link numbers in a network, the vine is differentiated from the loop in a sense that any link number can be appeared in the path only once, while more than once in the loop. The vine provides a proper idea how to account for complicated travel patterns such as U-turn and P-turn witnessed nearby intersections in urban roads. This paper proposes a new algorithm in which the vine travel pattern can be considered for finding K number of sequential paths. The main idea of this paper is achieved by replacing the node label of the existing Yen's algorithm by the link label technique. The case studies show that the algorithm properly represent the vine travel patterns in searching K number of paths. A noticeable result is that the algorithm may be a promising alternative for ITS deployment by enabling to provide reasonable route information including perceived traveler costs.

  • To analyze the characteristics of Orientalism which is expressed in the fashion of the 1990's this study was examined according to three aspects such as form textiles and pattern and the aspects was considered with regard to Chinese Indian Japanese Korean, Southeas Asian and North African style. 1. In form Orientalism which is influenced by latest other fashion trend; Naturalism and Minimalism is expressed as a comfortable casual style which simplifies the way of wearing and mixes the characteristic elements of folk costume with western costume. The way of layerd wearing like knotting wrapping draping and the symbolic from which is inspired by the unique are of each country are shown. 2. In textiles Chinese Japanese and Indian silk as well as Southeast Asian and North African cotton show a splendid oriental impression using vivid color. On the other hand the linens of Korea like hemp and ramie emphasize natural characteristics and show a simple and unartificial oriental beauty. But in the use of material and color it shows a remarkable tendency to break the preconceived idea by coordinating a luxurious silk with a practical denim or harmonizing technical new-masterials with traditional materials. 3. In pattern the decorative elements of Orientalism such as a traditional pattern skills to dye embroidery and other decorations are emphasized on the form of western costume. The sketchy patterns of Chinese Korean and Japanese styles which include the pattern of a flower a bamboo and a butterfly are expressed using embroidery or textile printing. The geometrical seriate patterns of Southeast Asian and North African styles use traditional dyeing methods like Batik. Also the Indian technique of decoration like Mirro Work satisfies handcrafted royalty and feminine romantic taste in modern minimal fashion. The Orientalism expressed in the fashion of 1990's emphasizes the characteristics of people wearing colthing which break the preconceived idea by simplifying the form harmonizing differences between oriental and western cultures and mixing the elements of traditional costumes among countries. Most of all. Ethno using geonmetrical seriate pattern and technical new metal material and Romantic Ethnic using flower embroidery precious stones and beads are appearing as a distinctinve feature.

  • Sequential pattern mining, which discovers frequent subsequences as patterns in a sequence database, is an important data mining problem with broad applications. Since a sequential pattern in DNA sequences can be a motif, we studied to find sequential patterns in DNA sequences. Most previously proposed mining algorithms follow the exact matching with a sequential pattern definition. They are not able to work in noisy environments and inaccurate data in practice. Theses problems occurs frequently in DNA sequences which is a biological data. We investigated approximate matching method to deal with those cases. Our idea is based on the observation that all occurrences of a frequent pattern can be classified into groups, which we call approximated pattern. The existing PrefixSpan algorithm can successfully find sequential patterns in a long sequence. We improved the PrefixSpan algorithm to find approximate sequential patterns. The experimental results showed that the number of repeats from the proposed method was 5 times more than that of PrefixSpan when the pattern length is 4.

  • This study is to contemplate an ultimate goal and new methodology the architecture and space design community should pursue forward by analyzing concepts in Kengo Kuma's idea of "Anti-object" and examining his design methods and characteristics. To this end, I reviewed space design methods and features in his book of "Anti-Object" and his architectures built around in 2000. The result is as in the followings. (1) Contact is an essential concept of "Anti-object" to connect and integrate divided materials and consciousness with time and space. (2) Elimination is a meaningful way to reverse "cohesiveness" of agglomerated cluster which is a form of object and reconstruct it into the form of passive and acceptive "Anti-object". This idea is realized through overlap of material property and removal of massing. (3) Minimization is a concept of "Anti-object" to set the temporality free from constraints of materials. Three-dimensional transparent faces and lines or patterns of porous materials can be used to remove static and coercive volume. (4) A particle is a "reflector of its environment." It rebuilds one-way or disconnected communication between human and architecture into an interactive one. Kengo Kuma materializes this "particle" by exploring positional relation with physical paths, precise details and measurements.

  • This study was aimed at analyzing how the dualism of hippie style in the modern retro-fashion, namely, the neo hippie style and the hippie chic style were expressed. For this study, domestic & foreign fashion magazines, preceding theses, literatures, an encyclopedia, and Internet sites were reviewed. The results of this study could be summarized as follows; 1. Silhouette : The neo hippie style was expressed in slim and long silhouette to show the natural beauty. The hippie chic style was expressed in various silhouettes depending on designer's tastes. 2. Color : The neo hippie style was expressed in strong color and analogous color coordination to show richness of human nature. The hippie chic style was expressed in psychedelic color, multi-color, and fluorescent color to show an unconventional and a future oriented idea. 3. Material . The neo hippie style used such soft, thin, and flexible materials as chiffon, satin, silk, knit, etc. to show the natural beauty The hippie chic style used expensive and luxurious materials, high-technological materials, harmony of different materials, etc. 4. Pattern . In the neo hippie style, it was generally used various patterns including plant, animal, insect. In the hippie chic style, it was widely used the natural pattern as well as the ethnic pattern. The neo hippie style was characterized by the natural beauty, purity, elegance as style symbolizing the social problem, on the other hand, the hippie chic style was characterized by designer's identity suggesting an idea of new style rather than a symbol of the social problem.

  • The jeans fashion has important meaning as the symbol of sociocultural phenomenon related with modern fashion. It became the symbol of natural fashion beauty representing freedom and equality and sometimes the sensual style. This study defined the meaning, element, and importance of fashion styling by analyzing preliminary studies and analyzed the aesthetic characteristics of the jeans fashion. The purpose of this study is to drive four styling patterns of the jeans fashion based on such theoretical studies and empirical researches about jeans fashion and plan and direct jeans fashion styling for each style. The results also provides the basis for acknowledging that the idea of 'directing and creating a style' according to a person's intent beyond the one-dimensional idea of simply 'wearing' clothes is the true fashion styling and will set an important footing in the fashion field with the ideas that fit the 21st century.
