The purpose of this study is to develop a method of integrating diverse communication networks for effectively providing ITS(Intelligent Transport System) services. In this paper, in oder to integrate communication networks, we have defined ITS services, its requirements and functions of communications. Also, we have analyzed the six important ITS services in the National ITS Architecture along with the characteristics of wireless communications. Based on the ITS service scenarios, we have derived the communication methods for ITS services.

The cdma2000 mobile network covers a wide area but its characteristics are high cost and low bandwidth. On the other hand, WLAN covers a small area like a hot spot area but its characteristics are large bandwidth and low cost. Thus we can provide efficient services when we employ an integration network between WLAN and cdma2000 mobile networks. In this paper, we propose an integration scheme between WLAN and cdma2000 mobile networks. In addition, we design and implement the dual mode terminal which receives seamless data services in the integrated network. The proposed dual mode terminal manages connections by monitoring the signal strength of WLAN and selecting a proper network. We validate the functions through the implementation of VOD and show the effectiveness through the performance measurement.

국내에서는 차세대 방송을 위해 ATSC 3.0 기술을 기반으로 한 UHD 방송이 상용화되었다. ATSC 3.0은 IP 프로토콜을 중심으로 통신망과 쉽게 융합 가능하도록 고안된 방송 기술로 고품질 UHD 방송을 포함하여 DMB와 같은 모바일 TV 및 통신망과 연동할 경우 다양한 부가데이터 서비스 제공이 가능한 기술이다. 대표적인 부가 데이터 서비스로는 App 서비스가 있지만 비디오와 무관한 데이터 서비스로 차량 운전자를 위한 여행 및 교통 정보 즉 TTI 서비스가 있다. TTI 서비스는 차량을 목표로 하는 여행 및 교통 정보를 방송망과 더불어 통신망을 통해 전송하여 일반 차량을 포함하여 인터넷이 가능한 커넥티드카 및 자율주행차량에 요구되는 고정밀 위치정보, C-ITS 정보 및 대용량 고정밀 지도 데이터 등을 전달할 수 있다. 본 고에서는 ATSC 3.0 기반의 UHD 방송망과 브로드밴드 망을 활용하여 차량에 유익한 정보를 제공할 수 있는 TTI 서비스에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

Nowadays, wireless packet data services are provided over cdma2000 1x/1xEV-DO mobile communication network and Portable Internet are being standardized for users demanding higher data rate services. Portable Internet can provide high data rate services, but its service coverage is relatively small. If Portable Internet may be integrated with cdma2000 mobile networks, users are able to choose the best service according to service areas and get seamless services while they are moving around. At the same time, it is cost-effective for operators to construct and maintain the integrated network. For the purpose of effectively integrating Portable Internet into cdma2000 networks, we propose an integration scheme including network architecture, protocol architecture, functions in network elements, interfaces between them, and call-flow procedures. The integration scheme proposed in this paper adopts a tightly-coupled architecture for unified authentication/accounting and seamless services. In addition, the scheme can be implemented without modifying the existing cdma2000 mobile communication networks. It is also simple to develop the dual-mode mobile station. Through the simulation results based on the performance model for handoffs between cdma2000 and Portable Internet, it has teen validated that the proposed scheme diminishes packet losses compared with the loosely-coupled architecture.

멀티미디어 통신 등 서비스 광대역화를 위하여 PSTN, PCN 및 B-lSDN 등과 같은 기존의 망과 연동되게 될 IMT-2000 통신망은 기존의 통신망들이 서로 다른 하드웨어와 운영체제 등 상이한 플랫폼 환경 하에서 개발되어 있는 관계로 망관리 시스템을 구축하는 과정에서 통합 및 유지보수 상의 여러 문제점이 대두되게 된다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 I-Farmer 모델(Intelligent-Farmer Model)에 기반한 ITS(ISM-Node to SIB) 알고리즘을 제안한다. ITS 알고리즘은 I-Farmer 모델로 설계한 에이전트 시스템 중 Entity Node 및 ILB / OLB 컴포넌트를 AIN의 GFP(Global Functional Plane)내의 SIB 및 시스템 응용프로그램 생성 컴포넌트인 지능망 ASIB로 변형(transformation)해주는 알고리즘이다.

This paper covers the development process of multimedia evaluation system, especially focused on customer satisfactory factors while customers navigating net-based Interactive multimedia system. Customers usually experience new level of interaction cased by newly developed web-based technology In ordinary multimedia system. However, if it gives customers satisfactory experience is a matter of question. To find out the relationship between customer satisfaction and interactivity factors exposed by multimedia system, a model has been developed which describes the structure of web-based multimedia system and its relation to customer satisfactory factors. Five different experiments, including 'semantic differential', 'focus group interview', and 'expert review', has been conducted and four customer satisfactory factors were identified. Those are 'customery value', 'structural perfectness', 'visual perfectness', and 'contemporaneity'. With these factors and newly delveoped evaluation system, 7 different web-site has been evaluated and analyzed at the end of this report.

In this paper, the dynamic buffering based smart OTT platform was proposed, and analyzed for adaptive bit-rate video delivery with the optimization of HLS (HTTP Live Streaming). This platform consists of the software platform between sever and client which detects the bandwidth capacity, and adjusts the quality of the streaming for multiple bit-rates resolutions. In order to apply adaptive buffering, two buffers are added to the basic HLS player, and each buffer is responsible for constantly buffering a previous and the next channels relative to the current channel. This adaptive transmitting with smart OTT platform is superior to delivering a static video file at a single buffering, because the video stream of adaptive double buffers can be switched streaming according to client's available network speed. As a result, this proposed smart OTT can be cooperated to the application of HLS server with segmented H.265 MPEG-2 TS video & m3u8 files with its information based on the optimized transmission channel state of live and VOD, and applied to PLC transmission, too.

In this paper, HFC CATV networks are introduced. HFC CATV networks are currently considered as a most effective and plausible solution for subscriber access networks in the information superhighway, among others such as ADSL and B-WLL. The advantages of HFC CATV networks include its broad upstream and downstream channel bandwidths, much wider than PSTN's and its readiness. The HFC CATV networks are already well spread among the general subscribers in Korea. This fact will shorten the installation period and significantly reduce its cost. In addition, The structure and channel environment of the HFC CATV networks are introduced. At the same time, in this paper included are major problems in the HFC CATV networks and the solutions for these problems. Also discussed are data transmission, medium access control, IEEE802.14, and MCNS for standardizations. Moreover, additional telecommunications service activities in both Korea and other countries, using HFC CATV networks are also included. The topics which are covered in detail are the ones such as interoperation between HFC CATV networks and trunk line and the digital transmission performance test for the CATV networks. In the performance test, it is concluded that HFC CATV networks can satisfy the QoS for various additional services if the number of the subscribers in a cell is limited to less than 500 and other minor requirements are satisfied. Based on all these discussions and conclusions, HFC CATV networks are suggested in this paper for the subscriber access networks of the so called information superhighway.

u-safety service system inter-works with the diverse operation agencies, through CCTV network, such as the emergency call terminal with built-in GPS, the mobile communication network, u-safety service provider, relay system and CCTV control center. In the case of the emergency call, this service searches the location of caller in real time, and then continues to search the location of caller through the control of CCTV in the searched place, and can provide the several agencies like guardian, police office, fire station, hospitals, relief organizations and municipalities, with the diverse information necessary for the secure rescue through SMS and wired network. In this paper, a new protocol and specification for u-safety service relay system is designed and implemented. The effectiveness of presented protocol is verified by computer simulation. The designed protocol of u-safety service is applied to real 3GPP and 3GPP2 mobile communication networks to verify its performance.

Since the KTX starts operation in 2004, Korean railway system has sustained the highest safety and accuracy. In order to keep this achievement, the LTE based wireless communication system has been introduced for mobile communications and signal transmission. railway, and activities for its standardization are on the way. Railway communication system will be used as part of national safety net through interworking with safety network. This paper reviews the contents of standards and technologies in an LTE-based railway communication(LTE-R) system, and the items to be standardized to improve operational efficiency of the railway system by building a national railway radio communication system.
