An Implementation of Smart Laundry Management System Using Wrieless RFID Reader (무선 RFID 리더기를 이용한 스마트 세탁물 관리 시스템 개발)

  • This paper presents smart laundry management system using wireless Radio Frequnecy Identification (RFID) reader for efficient managing a large amount of laundry and clothing. The proposed system is comprised of wireless RFID hanger, base module connected on PC, and server system. The wireless RFID hanger with RFID reader read RFID tag attached on clothes and transmit tag information using wireless communication. The server system manage customers and his clothing using Database (DB) and display the information on the web page and smart phone devices. Since the proposed system operates with battery, we can evaluate its lifetime to measure current consumption. The designed system can be utilized to manage quantities of clothes and also it will be a good service to improve efficiency of laundry process.

Development of an AVL System for Fire Fighting Services (소방용 AVL 시스템 개발)

  • It is possible to use wireless communication any time in every place because of well-developed wireless networks and mobile devices. The AVL(Automatic Vehicle Location) system, therefore, has made practical use in situation control, distribution industry, home delivery service, and ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) area. In this paper, we design and implement an AVL system in order to use for fire fighting activities such as emergency rescue and relief. To do this, first, we investigate and analyze the existing researches and systems related to AVL system. In details, we develop an AVL server and clients to support stable communication each other using wireless networks. Using AVL system, calling cars find the position of accidents quickly and the fire defense headquarters control unforeseen accidents efficiently because the state of calling cars are confirmed in real time by their GPS data.

  • 지능형교통시스템 (Intelligent Transportation System: ITS) 은 도로 및 교통관리, 교통정보제공, 대중교통 및 화물차량의 운영 등 교통의 전 분야에 걸쳐 정보통신 기술, 센서 및 제어 기술을 접목함으로써 교통의 효율화와 물류비용의 절감을 목표로 하고 있다. 특히, 최근에는 전자 및 통신 기술 등 첨단기술을 활용하여 현행 교통체계를 첨단화하기 위한 노력이 빠르게 진행되고 있으며, ITS는 최근 위치정보의 폭넓은 보급과 유 무선통신기술의 발전에 따라 위치정보서비스, 텔레매틱스 서비스 등과의 결합을 통해 새로운 비즈니스 모델들을 탄생시키고 있다. 또한 기존에 중점적으로 추진되어 왔던 도로 및 차량 영역뿐만 아니라 ITS 아키텍처를 구성하는 다양한 하위 시스템들간의 통신 및 정보체계 표준화와 관계된 기술, 시스템, 서비스 등의 시장이 형성되기 시작하고 있다. 이중에서도 최근에는 이동통신기술의 발전과 복합단말의 발전을 통해 통합된 기능을 갖는 이동전화, PDA, 스마트단말 등의 개인단말 뿐만 아니라 도로와 차량내의 통신을 위한 차량탑재형 단말 등의 보급으로 단거리 무선통신기술과 스마트차드 기술을 이용한 자동요금징수시스템, 위치정보기술을 이용한 위치기반서비스, GPS를 이용하여 실시간 교통정보 서비스가 가능한 텔레매틱스 서비스 등은 본격적으로 시장을 형성해 나가고 있다. 이는 기존의 ITS 분야가 ETCS(Electric Toll Collection System), AVHS(Advanced Vehicle & Highway System), CVO(Commercial Vehicle Operation)등 교통 인프라에 초점을 맞추고 있었으나 그동안의 수익모델 부재 등으로 인해 사업자들의 적극적인 투자가 이루어지지 않아 ITS 시장 활성화에 어려움이 있어 왔다는 점을 고려해 볼 때 최근 위치정보를 이용한 사용자 서비스를 통해 민간 기업의 투자 참여와 일반 사용자들의 ITS 에 대한 관심이 매우 높아지고 있다는 점은 ITS 시장의 확대에 있어 매우 긍정적인 요인될 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 ITS의 세계적인 개발 및 투자 추세, 국내의 추진 동향을 통해 살펴보고 이에 따른 국내 적용에 대한 시사점을 살펴보았다.

On the Application of MIMO systems for railway environment (철도 환경에서의 MIMO시스템의 응용 방안)

  • In this paper, we examine the MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) system in the point of mobile communication that is used for railway environment. First, under the radio environment, wireless channel characteristics are analyzed between moving train and base station, both assuming track side base stations and non-track side base stations. Next, the paper introduces the MIMO system which can be used to solve the problem of performance degradation in railway environment, and analyzes its performance in terms of channel capacity and diversity. We especially compares open-loop scheme with closed loop scheme at the diversity and analyses their performance according to antenna correlation. Finally, the we presents experimental result from the ESCORT project that was studied in railway environment with the MIMO system.

  • In this paper, wireless internet proxy server clusters are used for the wireless internet because their caching, distillation, and clustering functions are helpful to overcome the limitations and needs of the wireless internet. TranSend was proposed as a clustering based wireless internet proxy server but it has disadvantages; 1) its scalability is difficult to achieve because there is no systematic way to do it and 2) its structure is complex because of the inefficient communication structure among modules. In our former research, we proposed the CD-A structure which can be scalable in a systematic way but it also has disadvantages; its communication structure among modules is partly complex. In this paper, we proposed a consolidated scheme which has a systematic scalability and an efficient communication structure among modules. We performed experiments using 16 PCs and experimental results show 196% and 40% performance improvement of the proposed system compared to the TranSend and the CD-A system, respectively.

  • Vehicular communication networking is one of the most important building blocks of Intelligent Transportation System(ITS). The vehicular communication network is a wireless communication system enabling vehicles to communicate with each other as well as with roadside base stations. Especially, Wi-Fi based vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I) communication is an emerging solution to improve the safety, traffic efficiency, and comfort of passengers. In this paper, we proposed a new communication hub platform for vehicles, and explained vehicle communication technology in short. Through car simulation results, we show thar our proposed system reduces signaling interference.

  • Code-division multiple access has been widely accepted as the major multiple access scheme in mobile communication systems. Wide-band CDMA and its hybrid associate time-division CDMA are key elements in the mobile communication. Since 10 years ago, there has been enormous research activity in analysis of the capacity of these CDMA-based systems. Recently, upgrading service, high quality and the different service classes in radio resource allocation has recently increased. This paper presents an overview of Radio Resource Allocation on the CDMA-based systems that are flexible, support traffic services, minimize call blocking rate and have acceptable radio resource utilization.

  • Wireless internet, which becomes a hot social issue, has limitations due to the following characteristics, as different from wired internet. It has low bandwidth, frequent disconnection, low computing power, and small screen in user terminal. Also, it has technical issues to Improve in terms of user mobility, network protocol, security, and etc. Wireless internet server should be scalable to handle a large scale traffic due to rapidly growing users. In this paper, wireless internet proxy server clusters are used for the wireless Internet because their caching, distillation, and clustering functions are helpful to overcome the above limitations and needs. TranSend was proposed as a clustering based wireless internet proxy server but it has disadvantages; 1) its scalability is difficult to achieve because there is no systematic way to do it and 2) its structure is complex because of the inefficient communication structure among modules. In our former research, we proposed the All-in-one structure which can be scalable in a systematic way but it also has disadvantages; 1) data sharing among cache servers is not allowed and 2) its communication structure among modules is complex. In this paper, we proposed its improved scheme which has an efficient communication structure among modules and allows data to be shared among cache servers. We performed experiments using 16 PCs and experimental results show 54.86$\%$ and 4.70$\%$ performance improvement of the proposed system compared to TranSend and All-in-one system respectively Due to data sharing amount cache servers, the proposed scheme has an advantage of keeping a fixed size of the total cache memory regardless of cache server numbers. On the contrary, in All-in-one, the total cache memory size increases proportional to the number of cache servers since each cache server should keep all cache data, respectively.

  • The application of UWB not only complies with the requirements of remote sensors system(ECG), it also contributes to the effectiveness of the implementations through its unique qualities such as ultra low transmission power - an important factor when dealing with biomedical equipment. In this paper, the aim is to replace the wired ECG sensors with a wireless link and design wireless UWB communication system. The various pulse shapes are presented that satisfies the FCC spectral mask and FCC part 15 rule. It is shown that UWB can be a high rate transmission over short ranges using Rake receiver, with the capability for reliably transmitting 100Mbps over distance at about 10 meters.

  • In this paper, for the purpose of improving the future domestic train control systems and securing interoperability according to the global development trends of train control systems, we present the test results of communication interfaces to verify the interoperability between CBTC wayside units tentatively installed in Bundang line that is one of the metropolitan area rail transit systems, and the CBTC onboard units developed through the national R/D project. The CBTC onboard equipment developed, has finished its installation and trial tests in the Bundang shunting yard. For the interoperability test, we should make an interface test with wayside equipment tentatively installed in Bundang line. Due to the safety-critical characteristics of train systems, the site test in the section where the wayside equipment is installed, leads to a danger against safety. Therefore, by way of constructing a simulation environment of train control systems, we confirm the T/R data systems of the equipment for interoperability and test the interoperability by applying these systems to developed CBTC onboard equipment.
