Technical note: Estimation of Korean industry-average initiating event frequencies for use in probabilistic safety assessment

  • One fundamental element of probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) is the initiating event (IE) analysis. Since IE frequencies can change over time, time-trend analysis is required to obtain optimized IE frequencies. Accordingly, such time-trend analyses have been employed to estimate industry-average IE frequencies for use in the PSAs of U.S. nuclear power plants (NPPs); existing PSAs of Korean NPPs, however, neglect such analysis in the estimation of IE frequencies. This article therefore provides the method for and results of estimating Korean industry-average IE frequencies using time-trend analysis. It also examines the effects of the IE frequencies obtained from this study on risk insights by applying them to recently updated internal events Level 1 PSA models (at-power and shutdown) for an OPR-1000 plant. As a result, at-power core damage frequency decreased while shutdown core damage frequency increased, with the related contributions from each IE category changing accordingly. These results imply that the incorporation of time-trend analysis leads to different IE frequencies and resulting risk insights. The IE frequency distributions presented in this study can be used in future PSA updates for Korean NPPs, and should be further updated themselves by adding more recent data.

  • 본 논문은 학술연구자들이 COVID-19 관련 논문의 전체적인 연구 동향을 파악할 수 있도록 한다. KCI 사이트에서 수집한 2020년 1월부터 2022년 7월까지 총 10,599편의 COVID-19 관련 논문 정보를 LDA 토픽 모델링으로 분석한 결과를 제시한다. 또한 학술연구자들이 자신의 관심 연구분야의 토픽을 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록 LDA 토픽 모델링의 결과를 주요 연구 카테고리별로 분석하고, 토픽별로 연구가 많이 이루어지는 세부 연구 카테고리 정보를 분석한다. 학술연구자들이 시간의 흐름에 따른 연구 토픽의 추세(trend)를 파악하는 것은 연구 동향을 파악하는데 매우 중요하다. 따라서 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 시계열 분해를 사용하여 토픽들의 추세(trend)를 분석하여 제시한다.

  • 클라우드 컴퓨팅 서비스는 IT 자원을 사용자 요구에 따라 서비스 형태로 제공하며, IT 자원을 소유하는 기존의 개념에서 빌려서 사용하는 개념으로 새로운 IT 패러다임 전환을 이끌고 있다. 이러한 클라우드 컴퓨팅은 과거의 네트워크 컴퓨팅, 유틸리티 컴퓨팅, 서버 기반 컴퓨팅, 그리드 컴퓨팅 등에 대한 연구들을 기반으로 진화해온 IT 서비스로서, 추후 여러분야에 접목 가능성이 높음에 따라 다양한 분야에서의 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 1994년부터 2012년까지 주요 해외 저널에 게재된 클라우드 컴퓨팅 관련 연구 논문들의 서지정보 및 인용정보를 수집하였으며, 사회 네트워크 분석 척도를 활용하여 연구 논문간의 인용 관계와 동일 논문에 출현하는 키워드간의 관계로부터 연구 주제들 간 네트워크 변화를 분석하였다. 이를 통해서 클라우드 컴퓨팅 관련 분야의 연구 주제들간의 관계를 파악할 수 있었고, 추후 잠재성이 높은 신규 연구 주제들을 도출하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 클라우드 컴퓨팅에 대한 연구 동향 맵(research trend map)을 작성하여, 클라우드 컴퓨팅과 관련된 연구 주제들의 동태적인 변화를 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 동향 맵을 통해서 클라우드 컴퓨팅 주요 연구들의 추이를 쉽게 파악 할 수 있으며, 진화 형태 또는 유망 분야를 설명할 수 있다. 논문 인용 관계 분석 결과, 클라우드 컴퓨팅 보안과 분산 처리, 클라우드 컴퓨팅에서의 광네트워크에 관한 연구 논문들이 페이지랭크 척도를 기준으로 상위에 나타났다. 연구 논문의 핵심 주제를 나타내는 키워드에 대한 결과는 2009년에는 클라우드 컴퓨팅과 그리드 컴퓨팅이 높은 중심성 수치를 보였으며, 2010~2011년에는 데이터 아웃소싱, 에러검출 방법, 인프라구축 등 주요 클라우드 요소 기술에 관한 키워드가 높은 중심성 수치를 나타내었다. 2012년에는 보안, 가상화, 자원 관리 등이 높은 중심성 수치를 보였으며, 이를 통해서 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술들에 대한 관심이 점차 증가함을 확인 할 수 있다. 연구 동향 맵 작성 결과, 보안은 유망영역에 위치하고 있으며, 가상화는 유망영역에서 성장 영역으로 이동하였고, 그리드 컴퓨팅과 분산 시스템은 쇠퇴 영역으로 이동하고 있음을 확인 할 수 있다.

A Trend Analysis of Dynamic Chair and Applied Technology

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to define the Dynamic Sitting (DS) through trend analysis and research on the Dynamic Chair (DC) and applied technologies. Background: The effects of changing posture on the human body have been studied to find out healthy sitting postures. It is believed that changing posture is effective in reducing disc pressure on spinal cord and preventing back pain and musculoskeletal disease. But, the definition of DS and trends of DC have not been researched yet. Therefore, trend analysis of DC and its applied technologies are required to define dynamic sitting posture. Method: We researched the type of occupant postures from previous studies. And then, sitting behaviors were classified into three types; (1) sitting and standing, (2) working and studying, (3) taking a rest. Results: Variety shapes of DC and applied technologies were found out. From the result, the trend of DC and applied technology were summarized from three perspectives. ; (1) changing the chair functions according to user's intention, (2) conversion of dynamic chair technologies to office chair mechanism, (3) enables the user to change their sitting posture without operating control device. Conclusion: From this study, we defined dynamic sitting posture and analyzed the trend of DC and its applied technologies. This result might be used to develop an office chair for healthy sitting. But further investigation is required to figure out the technologies and functions for development of healthy chair. Application: The results of the publishing trend analysis might help to determine design concept of office chair.

KZ 필터를 이용한 부산지역 PM10의 장기 추세 분석 (Analysis of the Long-term Trend of PM10 Using KZ Filter in Busan, Korea)

  • To determine the effect of air pollution reduction policies, the long-term trend of air pollutants should be analyzed. Kolmogorov-Zurbenko (KZ) filter is a low-pass filter, produced through repeated iterations of a moving average to separate each variable into its temporal components. The moving average for a KZ(m, p) filter is calculated by a filter with window length m and p iterations. The output of the first pass subsequently becomes the input for the next pass. Adjusting the window length and the number of iterations makes it possible to control the filtering of different scales of motion. To break down the daily mean $PM_{10}$ into individual time components, we assume that the original time series comprises of a long-term trend, seasonal variation, and a short-term component. The short-term component is attributable to weather and short-term fluctuations in precursor emissions, while the seasonal component is a result of changes in the solar angle. The long-term trend results from changes in overall emissions, pollutant transport, climate, policy and/or economics. The long-term trend of the daily mean $PM_{10}$ decreased sharply from $59.6ug/m^3$ in 2002 to $44.6ug/m^3$ in 2015. This suggests that there was a long-term downward trend since 2005. The difference between the unadjusted and meteorologically adjusted long-term $PM_{10}$ is small. Therefore, we can conclude that $PM_{10}$ is unaffected by the meteorological variables (total insolation, daily mean temperature, daily mean relative humidity, daily mean wind speed, and daily mean local atmospheric pressure) in Busan.

Spatiotemporal Clusters and Trends of Pneumocystis Pneumonia in Korea

  • This study determined the recent status and trend of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PcP) in the non-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (non-HIV-PcP) and HIV (HIV-PcP) infected populations using data from the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). SaTScan and Join-point were used for statistical analyses. Non-HIV-PcP cases showed an upward trend during the study period from 2010 to 2021, with the largest number in 2021 (551 cases). The upward trend was similar until 2020 after adjusting for the population. Seoul had the highest number of cases (1,597) in the non-HIV-PcP group, which was the same after adjusting for the population (162 cases/1,000,000). It was followed by Jeju-do (89 cases/1,000,000). The most likely cluster (MLC) for the non-HIV-PCP group was Seoul (Relative Risk (RR)=4.59, Log Likelihood Ratio (LLR)=825.531), followed by Jeju-do (RR=1.59, LLR=5.431). An upward trend was observed among the non-HIV-PcP group in the Jeju-do/Jeollanam-do/Jeollabuk-do/Gyeongsangnam-do/Busan/Daejeon/Daegu/Ulsan joint cluster (29.02%, LLR=11.638, P<0.001) located in the southern part of Korea. Both women and men in the non-HIV groups showed an overall upward trend of PcP during the study period. Men in the 60-69 age group had the highest annual percentage change (APC 41.8) during 2014-2019. In contrast, the HIV groups showed a falling trend of PcP recently. Men in the 60-69 age group had the most decrease (APC -17.6) during 2018-2021. This study provides an analytic basis for health measures and a nationwide epidemiological surveillance system for the management of PcP.

가우시안 프로세스 회귀분석을 이용한 지하수 수질자료의 해석 (Applications of Gaussian Process Regression to Groundwater Quality Data)

  • Gaussian process regression (GPR) is proposed as a tool of long-term groundwater quality predictions. The major advantage of GPR is that both prediction and the prediction related uncertainty are provided simultaneously. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed tool, GPR and a conventional non-parametric trend analysis tool are comparatively applied to synthetic examples. From the application, it has been found that GPR shows better performance compared to the conventional method, especially when the groundwater quality data shows typical non-linear trend. The GPR model is further employed to the long-term groundwater quality predictions based on the data from two domestically operated groundwater monitoring stations. From the applications, it has been shown that the model can make reasonable predictions for the majority of the linear trend cases with a few exceptions of severely non-Gaussian data. Furthermore, for the data shows non-linear trend, GPR with mean of second order equation is successfully applied.

중국(中國) 동북지역 다롄시 스트리트 패션에 나타난 컬러트렌드 분석(分析)(제2보) - 2010 겨울, 중국의 전통 색채감정과의 비교를 중심으로 - (An Analysis on the Color Trend of Street Fashion in Dalian, China(paper no. 2) - Focused on 2010 Winter, Compare with the Chinese Traditional Color Preference -)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of the traditional color sentiment on the contemporary clothing color by researching the street fashion of 2010 Winter season of Dalian in China, in view of the clothing color of women in their 20-30 years of age, along with traditional Chinese color. This is the 2nd paper following the paper no. 1, focusing on 2010 Summer season, so the research method is same as the paper no. 1. As a result, Black and deep tone PB color most frequently appeared. The vivid and strong tone of R, YR, Y color showed high frequency of clothing colors. This results illustrate that the clothing color choices of Chinese women was affected by Chinese traditional color sentiment rather than the international color trend. Characteristically, in winter season, frequency of R and Y color categories were higher than in summer season, specially in the top and accessories color, those colors showed higher frequency than the other colors. These were the important points in dealing with winter color trend, so that the fashion company and brands should take it an important points when they are planning winter clothing colors. The achromatic colors show the high frequency in both seasons. The bottom color shows high incidence of Black and deep tone of PB color categories as in the previous researches. That means consistent color trend existed in Dalian city, however it does not seem to have its origin from traditional Chinese color preferences. This kinds of regional and seasonal research might contribute to finding the basic informations about the design and marketing strategies to launch into the Chinese fashion market.

병원경영 관련 분야의 연구경향 분석 (A Study on Recent Trends of Hospital Management Research in Korea)

  • This study examines academic research trends and the change of patterns by analyzing researches related to hospital management registered in Korea Citation Index(KCI) from 2010 to 2014 and offers basic information for interests and future research demands in the field of hospital management As research subjects, a total of 694 published articles were selected. It's to analyze them by dividing into research topics, methods and author's characteristics, and to present them by classifying the period into 2010-2011, 2012-2013, 3rd quarter of 2014 since there was no significant difference in the result between adjacent years. As a result, Korean Journal of Hospital Management has accounted for the highest published rate year after year. In the research topic analysis, it showed a decreasing trend in these research topics as medical marketing and patient satisfaction which became the biggest issue in 2010-2011 significantly were lower in 2014, but an increasing trend in job satisfaction, job stress, labor administration and workforce productivity. The most frequently cited keywords were hospital employees, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, job stress, turnover intention. According to the research method analysis, the survey was the most popular method for data collection. However, Interview and medical records as data sources showed a decline trend. As analysis methods, multivariate analysis of quantitative methods was most used. Finally, as a result of analyzing main author's characteristics, the ratio of the authors belonging to health administration and nursing departments of the academic world increased gradually. In the regional distribution, organizations in Seoul are most common, those in Daegu Gyeongbuk areas, foreign organizations showed a tendency to decrease. This is the first study to examine the annual trend on hospital management-related research issues among articles published in domestic journal and we found qualitative and quantitative advances in hospital management research filed.

사상체질 식이 중재연구 보고에 대한 질 평가 (The Quality Assessment of Reporting of Intervention Studies on Sasang Constitutional Diet)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate quality of reporting of intervention studies on Sasang Constitutional diet (SCD) based on the Consolidated Standards for Reporting of Trials (CONSORT) and Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Nonrandomized Designs (TREND) statements. Methods We searched for Randomized controlled trials (RCT) and Non randomized studies for intervention (NRSI) on SCD in 4 databases and other sources, selected them by the inclusion criteria, and then evaluated quality of reporting of them. Results 1. A total of 10 studies (1 RCT and 9 NRSI) from 1999 to 2006 were selected and evaluated. The detailed items of up to 78%, at least 40%, and median value of 59% in the CONSORT and TREND statements were not reported. 2. One RCT was reporting 4 (11%) sufficiently, and 4 (11%) insufficiently among the 37 detailed items in the CONSORT statement while it was not reporting 29 (78%) items. 3. Nine NRSI were reporting 7 (12%) items sufficiently, and 2 (3%) items insufficiently among the 58 detailed items in the TREND statement while they were not reporting 15 (26%) items. Twenty (34%) items in the TREND statement were reported in some papers but not in more than half. Conclusions The quality of reporting of intervention studies on SCD has been assessed to be generally low. Subsequent researchers are recommended to select an appropriate statement for research design, and use it as a checklist from the time of designing the study to the time of reporting.
