지역 환경 자원을 활용한 환경체험 프로그램의 개발 (Development of Environmental Experience Programs Using Local Environmental Resources)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out effects of environmental expression programs using environmental resources of the areas in which students live so that it verified the effects by developing environmental expression programs using local environmental resources and then teaching the programs to local students. The findings are as follows. First, environmental experience programs using local environmental resources help elementary school students Environmental Literacy. Second, the programs have a positive effect on changes in the students' Pro-environmental Attitude.

  • A new species, Zabelia densipila M.-P. Hong, Y.-C. Kim & B.Y. Lee (Linnaeaceae) is described from Gangwon-do, Korea and illustrated. The new taxon resembles Z. biflora (Turcz.) Makino, but it can be distinguished by its different flowering seasons, ovaries with densely long-pilose hairs, and sequence differences in nuclear ribosomal DNA and chloroplast DNA coding regions.

  • 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSP synthase, EC 2.5.1.19) is the sixth enzyme in the shikimate pathway which is essential for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids and many secondary metabolites. The enzyme is widely involved in glyphosate tolerant transgenic plants because it is the primary target of the nonselective herbicide glyphosate. In this study, the Dunaliella salina EPSP synthase gene was cloned by RT-PCR approach. It contains an open reading frame encoding a protein of 514 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight of 54.6 KDa. The derived amino acid sequence showed high homology with other EPSP synthases. The Dunaliella salina EPSP synthase gene was expressed in Escherichia coli and the recombinant EPSP synthase were identified by functional complementation assay.

  • 정보자원의 생성과 축적은 문자를 통해서 이루어진다. 문자는 과거의 문화를 계승하고 이를 기반으로 한 새로운 문화를 창조하고 확충하는 도구이다. 이러한 연속적인 지적 정보자원의 전달과 이용, 새로운 정보자원의 창조과정 속에서 우리의 민족정보자원을 발굴하고 이를 정리 보존하는 것은 한민족의 문화적 동질성과 정체성을 계승 발전시키는 일이며 민족적 당위성의 표출이다 따라서 이 연구의 목적은 중국 내에 산재한 한민족 정보자원으로서 한글정보자원 생산과 출판현황을 살펴보고 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 조선족 형성과정과 한글, 그리고 민족출판의 생성과 그 현황을 시대별 변천서와 더불어 그 특징을 조사하였다.

  • The Yellow River Basin located in the Northern part of China is well-known not only as the seriously limited water sources but the greatest sediment-carrying stream in the world. The observed annual average sediment concentration in this area is $37.6kg/\textrm{mm}^3$, and 3.1% of the water volume is occupied by sediments. Due to the reason, water development has been extremely limited and it has been appeared as one of the most difficult problems in reservoir development and management. The major obstacle to surface water uses is reservoir sedimentation so that it has been strongly requested to seek the method managing sediment by optimal fashion. To solve this problem, KOWACO (Korea Water Resources Corporation) has developed various methods on the optimal reservoir management schemes including sediment management for the Upper Fenhe Basin Reservoir System at the cooperation project with Chinese. Information Variable Dynamic Programming. which is one of them, was developed for the reservoir sediment management and a set of non-dominated solutions are generated to choose the best alternative in water supply and reservoir sediment objective problem.

Alternative Dispute Resolution in Genetic Resources and Traditional Knowledge: Settlement at the World Intellectual Property Arbitration and Mediation Center

  • The growing importance of biological resources as sovereign rights to healthcare, energy, and food has sparked international discussions on Genetic Resources (GRs) and Traditional Knowledge (TK). As the bio-industry continues to grow, research and development utilizing patented biological resources are advocated. Currently, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is actively discussing GRs and TK, and an effective response to national interest has been sought. Of late, there have been growing disputes over issues like ownership, control, and access and benefit-sharing between indigenous peoples and users of GRs and TK resources. Resolution of disputes concerning GRs and TK are thus becoming critical not only to stakeholders such as the indigenous peoples and corporations, but also to third-party users. Due to the weakness of the current IP and court system however, such disputes are not addressed adequately. This paper will address the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which is an out-of-court dispute resolution system, on conflicting issues regarding GRs and TK. It will consider the WIPO as a forum for ADR and ADR for GRs and TK disputes and it will seek both parties in the dispute to benefit from the use of the ADR process.

Rivers in Global Water Cycles

  • The role of river in the global water cycles and the modelling the horizontal water transport by rivers in the global scale are discussed. Due to the consolidation of the various hydrological information of the planet, now it is possible to monitor and simulate the quantity of the water carried by rivers. Land surface models that were developed originally for giving the boundary condition of the atmospheric and/or climatic models can be fairly used for river runoff simulations at least monthly scale, and it is promissing the approach will be a powerful tool to investigate the future water resources management.

조류에너지의 이용기술 (Development Trends of Tidal Current Energy and Its Test Bed)

  • Tidal current energy is the most interesting renewable resources that have been less harnessed. Korea has globally outstanding tidal current energy resources and it is highly needed to develop a tidal current energy conversion system. It is reported that the total amount of available tidal current energy is approximately 6GW in Korea. A good tidal site candidate is required a large amount of fast moving water, bathymetry and seabed properties, no conflicts with other users and is close to a load and grid interconnection. In this review, we summarized the results of R&D projects regarding tidal current resources, utilization projects and demonstration test bed.

스마트폰을 활용한 농촌어메니티 자원 정보제공을 위한 정보서비스 이용실태 분석 (The Analysis of Using an Information Service for Supplying Information in the Rural Amenity Resources by Utilizing a Smart Phone)

  • This study focused on developing various application services for smart phones in the rural amenity resources information service. By developing application services for smart phones, this study aims to stimulate rural tourism and increase the rural tourism economy. The main findings of this study revealed that 'information for reports/cultural/recreational facilities, etc', 'maps for rural villages(food, attractions, etc)', 'regional weather information', 'traffic reports for rural villages(public transportation, etc)' and 'introduction of rural experiences (festivals, exhibitions, events, etc)' are preferentially needed as the contents services of the rural amenity resources. Moreover, it has been found that the types of services firstly needed to offer information of rural amenity resources include 'searching the information around me(where I am)', 'wayfinding such as navigation', 'information sharing function with messenger and SNS, etc', 'taking and editing photography', 'searching information of rural villages about festivals, events, etc'. These are the items that can be utilized in developing application services needed by information services of rural amenity resources. It is expected that the future real-time smart phone services for rural amenity resources will be able to reinforce the competitiveness of rural tourism by giving urban dwellers the chance to utilize the customized information whenever they want.

Wangsania, a new genus of Apiaceae endemic to Korea

  • Wangsania, a new genus of Apiaceae from limestone areas and typified by W. insolens (Kitagawa) B.Y. Lee & J.O. Hyun, is described from Gangwon-do, Korea. Wangsania insolens was initially treated as Peucedanum insolens Kitagawa due to similarity with Peucedaunm cervaria, but it differs markedly in its unique morphological characters, such as rarely branched roots and a single basal leaf with 3 or -4 ternately dissected leaflets. These characters apparently represent apomorphies for Wangsania. The parsimony analysis of nuclaer ribosomal DNA ITS sequences revealed Wangsania to be not closely related to either Peucedanum or to any of 14 different tribes or clades within subfamily Apioideae.
