A case of corporate failure prediction

  • Although numerous studies demonstrate that one technique outperforms the others for a given data set, there is often no way to tell a priori which of these techniques will be most effective to solve a specific problem. Alternatively, it has been suggested that a better approach to classification problem might be to integrate several different forecasting techniques by combining their results. The issues of interest are how to integrate different modeling techniques to increase the prediction performance. This paper proposes the post-model integration method, which means integration is performed after individual techniques produce their own outputs, by finding the best combination of the results of each method. To get the optimal or near optimal combination of different prediction techniques. Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are applied, which are particularly suitable for multi-parameter optimization problems with an objective function subject to numerous hard and soft constraints. This study applied three individual classification techniques (Discriminant analysis, Logit and Neural Networks) as base models to the corporate failure prediction context. Results of composite prediction were compared to the individual models. Preliminary results suggests that the use of integrated methods will offer improved performance in business classification problems.

  • Many data mining techniques have been proved useful in revealing important patterns from large data sets. Especially, data mining techniques play an important role in a customer data analysis in a financial industry and an electronic commerce. Also, there are many data mining related research papers in a semiconductor industry and an automotive industry. In addition, data mining techniques are applied to the bioinformatics area. To satisfy customers' various requirements, each industry should develop new processes with more accurate production criteria. Also, they spend more money to guarantee their products' quality. In this manner, we apply data mining techniques to the production-related data such as a test data, a field claim data, and POP (point of production) data in the automotive parts industry. Data collection and transformation techniques should be applied to enhance the analysis results. Also, we classify various types of manufacturing processes and proposed an analysis scheme according to the type of manufacturing process. As a result, we could find inter- or intra-process relationships and critical features to monitor the current status of the each process. Finally, it helps an industry to raise their profit and reduce their failure cost.

The Pringle maneuver in the modern era: A review of techniques for hepatic inflow occlusion in minimally invasive liver resection

  • During minimally invasive liver resection (MILR), the Pringle maneuver aims to minimize blood loss and provide a clear operative field, thereby identifying intrahepatic structures and facilitating safe parenchymal transection. Several techniques for using the Pringle maneuver in MILR have been described. This review presents various methods which have been reported in the literature. A systematic literature search used the MEDLINE/PubMed database from its earliest records to August 2022 using appropriate search headings and keywords. The primary outcome was identifying techniques for performing hepatic inflow occlusion during laparoscopic/robotic hepatectomy. Inclusion criteria consisted of publications describing technical steps to obtain hepatic inflow occlusion during minimally invasive hepatectomy. A literature search identified 23 relevant publications, and the full texts were examined. The techniques described in the reports can be broadly categorized into three groups: (1) the Rummel-tourniquet technique, (2) vascular clamp use, and (3) the Huang Loop technique. Various techniques have been used in MILR to achieve inflow confinement successfully. The authors prefer the modified Huang Loop technique because it is inexpensive, reliable, and quick to apply or release. Hepatobiliary surgeons are advised to familiarize themselves with these MILR techniques, which have proven effective and safe inflow occlusion.

  • Recently it has become general to use the inhibitor with a view to protecting corrosion of rebars in concrete. So, it needs to study effect of protection and reasonable dosage of inhibitor to reduce corrosion of rebar in concrete containing chlorides. In this study, we estimate the corrosion rate of rebar in mortar by Tafel extrapolation method, one of electrochemical techniques, and the reasonable dosage of inhibitor for different chlorides environments.

적응 빔 포밍 기법을 적용한 능동 소음 제거 헤드폰 (Active Noise Cancelling Headphone using Adaptive Beam-forming Techniques)

  • The Active Noise Cancelling(ANC) headphone is now becoming commercially available. But it reduces not only noise but also information signals such as speech or some signals including audible information in particular situation. In this paper, we propose an ANC headphone using adaptive beam-forming techniques which cancels signals except the headphone wearer's look direction signal. It enables workers working in noisy condition to talk with their coworkers. Computer simulation is performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

A Study of Landscape Management Techniques based on Viewing Characteristics of Mountain Landscape - Focused on the Surrounding Areas of Bukhansan Mountain -

  • This study is based on the viewing characteristics of mountain landscapes. It investigates whether the current landscape management-related regulations are efficient in terms of the viewing characteristics of the mountain landscape against Bukhansan Mountain in which the conventional landscape management techniques were used. In addition, some viewing characteristics of mountain landscapes, such as distance from the view point to the target mountain, angle of elevation, altitude, gradient, have been analyzed and 3 cases of viewing condition have been simulated. The following results were obtained: i) Mountain landscapes can be managed up to 7~8 times of the mountain height with a $5{\sim}9^{\circ}$ of elevation angle. ii) In the Natural Landscape District which is situated on the hillside, it is reasonable to include altitude, gradient as criteria for regulation. iii) According to a simulation of the construction permit height by viewing distance, it was confirmed that buildings can be constructed up to 111.55m when viewing the 20% ridge, 150.75m when viewing the 50% ridge and 189.05m when viewing the 70% ridge. iv) The construction permit height varies depending on the landscape analysis method that is used and the application conditions. It is therefore unfair to apply height limit regulations to all buildings without considering the geographical features or viewing characteristics. v) It is unreasonable to apply 2~3 management techniques to the same area for landscape management. Therefore, we recommend the Focused Landscape Management Area based on the landscape master plan as a integrating mountain landscape management techniques.

디지털 텍스타일 프린팅의 초현실주의적 표현 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Surrealist Expressions Technique of Digital Textile Printing)

  • With the development of digital technology, clothes of unique textiles using the digital printing techniques have appeared as a creative trend in textile design. The development of digital textile printing technology has allowed the fashion industry to utilize it as an expressive method of a surrealist trend in current fashion designs, and so it is necessary to understand and study this phenomenon. The present study is an attempt to understand this modern fashion phenomena from an artistic perspective by looking at textile designs that applied actual images to textiles, so that this trend in fashion design can be better understood. In this context, this study aims to examine characteristics and expressive techniques of d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme associated with digital textile printing by using actual images among surrealist expressions, and to investigate creative expressions of textile design freely expressing the visual boundary between reality and surrealism with the development of digital technology. For research methods, we reviewed technical texts and previous studies related to our research topic for theoretical exploration and investigated the Internet data and used them for basic data. In the case study, we came up with the characteristics and meanings by classifying fashion design cases using digital textile printing techniques according to expressive techniques of surrealist d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme. Details of this study are as follows: First, it investigates the definition and expressive characteristics of d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme of the surrealist expression for its theoretical understanding. Second, it comes up with the characteristics by analyzing the digital textile cases from the perspective of d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme. Third, it deduces the expressive methods and characteristics of digital textile printing from a the perspective of surrealist d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme based on the resulting characteristics. The conclusions show that d$\acute{e}$paysement, automatisme, which consists of improvisation and coincidence, maximized the mysterious images of derealisation and mysterious primitive images. These things emphasized the characteristics of maximization of images, derealisation, and rationalization of irrationalism.

현대 패션컬렉션에 표현된 나비모티브 디자인 분석 -2019년~2023년 VOGUE를 중심으로- (Butterfly Motif Design in Contemporary Fashion Collection - Focusing on VOGUE from 2019 to 2023 -)

  • 연구의 목적은 자연의 소중함을 깨닫게 된 코로나 시대를 거치면서 자연의 다양한 모티브 중에서 개체 수의감소가 환경오염의 척도로 상징되는 나비, 곤충 등의 표현 빈도가 증가하는 것에 주목하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 범위는 2019년부터 2023년까지의 패션컬렉션을 대상으로 온라인 <보그>지(www.vogue.com)의 시즌별 패션컬렉션 패션쇼 사진과 인터뷰 기사로 한정하였다. 연구 결과 185개의 나비모티브 의상이 나타났으며 평면적 표현방식의 유형으로는 디지털 프린팅 기법이 가장 많이 활용되었다. 이와 함께 퀼팅, 자수, 비딩 등의 기법들이 나비의 평면적 모티브를 표현하는 기법으로 많이 등장하였다. 입체적 표현 유형으로는 3D 프린팅, 레이저 컷팅, 코사지 기법, 드레이핑 기법을 사용한 유형들이 비슷한 비중으로 나타났다. 표현된 나비 모티브는 추상적인 표현보다는 나비의 형태를 그대로 묘사한 사실적인 디자인이 더 많았음을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로 최근 5년간의 나비모티브 패션디자인은 과거의 나비모티브 패션에 비해 환경에 대한 메시지를 강하게 담고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 단순히 나비의 형태적 아름다움과 화려한 디자인 요소를 넘어서 친환경 메시지를 전달할 수 있는 상징적 의미가 큰 모티브임을 확인할 수 있었다.

비파괴시험에 의한 GFRP Pipe의 평가 (The Evaluation of GFRP Pipe by NDT Methods)

  • It is desirable to develop the effective NDT techniques to evaluate the strength of composite structures. In this study several of acoustic NDT techniques were applied to investigate useful parameters for evaluating the filament wound GFRP structures and following results were obtained. 1. Propagation velocity of stress wave to axial direction in the filament wound GFRP pipe depends on the effective modulus along the propagation direction and source location was parcticable from the a measured velocities. 2. By the application of acoustic emission techniques to GFRP pipe during hydraulic test, it was proven to be possible to detect the damage initiating pressure which could be evaluated nondestructively through the measuring of stress wave energy factor(SWEF). 3. The final failure pressure of GFRP was greatly influenced in the presence of pass through defects, and void-like defects were more dangerous than the laminar type defects.

  • In computer forensics investigation, the investigators collect, protect, analyze and interpret massive amount of data which were used in cyber crime. However, due to its huge amount of information, it takes a great deal of time and errors often result even when they use forensics investigation tool in the process. The information visualization techniques will greatly help to improve the information processing ability of human when they deal with the overwhelming amount of data and have to find out significant information in it. The importance of Intrusion Detection System(IDS) among network forensics is being emphasized in computer forensics. In this study, we apply the information visualization techniques which are proposed to be a great help to IDS and carry out the usability test to find out the most effective information visualization techniques for IDS.
