  • This paper is about an optimal investment portfolio strategy. Financial data of stocks, bonds, and savings from January 2. 2001 through October 30. 2009 were utilized in order to suggest the optimal portfolio strategies. Fundamental analysis and technical analysis were used in stocks-related strategy, whereas passive investment strategy and active investment strategy were used in bond-related strategy. The score is assigned to each stock index according to the suggested strategies and set trading rules are based on the scores. The simulation has been executed about each 29,400-portfolios and we figured out with the simulation result that 26.75% of 7,864 portfolios are more profitable than average stock market profit (22.6%, Annualized). The outcome of this research is summarized in two parts. First, it's the rebalancing strategy of portfolio. The result shows that value-oriented investment(long-term investment) strategy yields much higher than short-term investment strategies of stocks or active investment of bonds. Second, it's about the rebalancing cycle forming the portfolios. The result shows that the rate of return for the portfolio is the best when rebalancing cycle is 12 or 18 months.

  • This study estimates the financial value of return on investment (ROI) of research funds. Four simulation estimations are employed to measure ROI finance value that considers the outputs, outcomes, impacts and total ROI from the allocation input received. Research outputs, outcomes, and impacts can be quantitatively measured based on improvements to existing systems. In terms of input, the Malaysian government has allocated MYR301,350,000 for fundamental research in the 2021 budget compared with 2019, up 9.5 percent from 2019. It brings up the question: To what extent does the input of research funds allocated by the government yield a good return in outputs, outcomes, and impacts to the academic community, society, and country? The result of total ROI shows around MYR7 return is generated by researchers for each Malaysian ringgit channeled by the funder. More specifically, for a research project, it is more difficult to produce impacts and outcomes compared to research outputs. The positive return is evidence that all the allocated funds are beneficial to the stakeholders. The government can apply this approach in calculating ROI for evaluation and fund allocation to universities. Furthermore, the positive financial value of research output, outcome, and impact automatically contribute to a positive innovation environment in Malaysia.

  • Venture capital invests the necessary capital and supports management and technology in promising small and medium-sized venture companies in the early stages of start-up with promising technology and excellent manpower. It plays a role as a key player in the venture ecosystem that realizes profits by collecting the investment through various means after growth. Venture capital's job is to recruit various investors(LPs) to invest in small and medium-sized venture companies with growth potential through the formation of venture investment funds, and to collect investment as companies grow, distribute and reinvest. The main tasks of venture capitalists, which play the most important role in venture investment, are finding promising companies, corporate analysis and evaluation, investment screening, follow-up management, and investment recovery. Venture capital's success indicators are fund formation and return on investment, and venture capitalists are rewarded with annual salary, performance-based incentive, and promotion with work performance such as investment, exit, and fund formation. Compared to the recent rapidly growing venture investment market, investment manpower is insufficient, and venture capital is making great efforts to foster manpower and establish infrastructure and systems for long-term service, but research has been conducted mainly from a quantitative perspective. Accordingly, this study aims to empirically analyzed the impact of investment experience, delegation of authority, job fit, and peer relationships on fund formation and return on investment according to the characteristics of the venture capital industry. The results of these empirical studies suggested that future venture capital needs a job environment and manpower operation strategy so that venture capitalists with high job fit and investment experience can work for a long time.

  • Intangible Assets are more important determinants of firm value than others in a digital information-based economy(Lev, 2001). Prior research reveals that investments in intangible assets such as R&D and advertising expenditures are associated with firm value. This paper examines the effects of the corporate investments in the information technologies(IT) on stock return and economic goodwill. The sample consists of 152 firms listed on the Korean stock market in 2002. To test hypothesis We employed multiple regression models. Results are as follows; First, IT environment, IT process, and IT human resource are positively associated with firm's IT value. Second, firm's IT value is positively correlated with firm's economic goodwill. Third, firm's IT value is positively correlated with firm's stock return. These results suggest that the investments related with IT are effective in cultivating firm's value and Stock investors can make the best use of firm's announcements related with IT value. Thus the authorities concerned need to expand the public announcements related IT value.

  • The value of the university library to faculty, students, and administrators has long been assumed. In an era of decreasing resources and increasing choices, academic librarians must now find the best ways to measure and demonstrate the value of the library to all of their stakeholders, including faculty members, graduate students, undergraduate students, administrators, and funders. Techniques to assess and measure value can also help library decision makers select the products and services that provide the highest return on investment (ROI) to the university community. It is important to measure and convey the value of the academic library; it is also possible to increase the value of the library to the university by carefully refocusing the academic library's products and services. In this presentation I will discuss methods and results from a recently completed study in eight countries that measured the value and ROI of e-journals to the grants process. The Return on Investment (ROI) of the e-journals collection to grant funding ranged from over 15:1 to just under 1:1 in 9 institutions. In addition, many other qualitative and quantitative measures of value are as important as derived measures like ROI. Building on that research study, I am now leading a team that includes the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and several university libraries in a project funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. We are collecting data using on the value of a wide range of library services using several methods for measuring the value of what the university library contributes to the institution and its stakeholders.

  • Feedback herding strategy in stock market means considering other investor's strategy as a basis of market forecasting of next term. Generally, individual investors use that strategy which mimics the strategy of institutional investors. When it is used in stock market, both kind of investors, preceders and followers, can take the higher average of rate of return to normal market in which no feedback herding strategy is not use, the more investors take part in. And variance of return, the risk of investment, are same to both group.

  • This paper is about the investment strategy in stocks on Fundamental analysis. Financial data of stocks from January 2. 2001 through October 30. 2009 were utilized in order to suggest the investment strategies. Fundamental analysis was used in stocks-related strategy. The portfolios are composed of 3 criteria such as the buying criteria score, exchange cycle and selling conditions. The buying criteria score is determined assigned to each stock index according to the satisfaction condition of 15 parameters selected considering the grue's criteria. The stock buying alternatives has two options with buying stocks over 13 points and over 14 points of buying criteria score. The seven exchange cycles and three selling methods are considered. So total number of portfolios is 42($2{\times}7{\times}3=42$). The simulation has been executed about each 42 portfolios and we figured out with the simulation result that 83.33% of 35 portfolios are more profitable than average stock market profit(203.43%). The outcome of this research is summarized in two parts. First, it's the exchange strategy of portfolio. The result shows that value-oriented investment (long-term investment) strategy yields much higher than short-term investment strategies of stocks. Second, it's about the exchange cycle forming the portfolios. The result shows that the rate of return for the portfolio is the best when exchange cycle is 18 months.

  • Unlike typical corporate investments, IT expenditures have direct impact on many aspects of a business, including those that are difficult to quantify. Therefore, financial indicators alone do not do justice to the full effect of an If investment. Proposed in this paper is a methodology to measure the return on IT investments, including non-financial impacts expressed in terms of monetary values. This methodology shows tangible cost as well as hidden cost by analyzing total cost of ownership. The methodology also produces ROI by performing cost benefit analysis including financial and non-financial factors. This paper suggests a more objective validation of If's impact on the business activities. It rationalizes investment priorities and provides a systematic approach to effective IT investment.

  • While the demand for ASP(Application Service Provider) focused on small and medium enterprises who are fully aware of needs of ICT readiness has been increasing, those who consider to adopt ASP are wondering whether their performance would be actually successful if they did. These concerns can be an important standard of judgement, when introducing new information systems, by analyzing ROI(Return on Investment) on the current enterprises. Therefore, to review the feasibility of investing IT and measuring the performance, this study suggests a framework for ROI analysis which estimates IT investment performance, through multi-criteria approach on both financial performance index and non-financial one. We applied methodology on ASP-based IT investment performance evaluation to sample manufacturing companies under 50 employees and deduced the main implications to be considered when introducing the system.

  • The stock investing is one of the most popular investment techniques. However, since it is not easy to obtain a return through actual investment, various strategies have been devised and tried in the past to obtain an effective and stable return. Among them, the volatility breakout strategy identifies a strong uptrend that exceeds a certain level on a daily basis as a breakout signal, follows the uptrend, and quickly earns daily returns. It is one of the popular investment strategies that are widely used to realize profits. However, it is difficult to predict stock prices by understanding the price trend pattern of stocks. In this paper, we propose a method of buying and selling stocks by predicting the return in trading based on the volatility breakout strategy using a bi-directional long short-term memory deep neural network that can realize a return in a short period of time. As a result of the experiment assuming actual trading on the test data with the learned model, it can be seen that the results outperform both the return and stability compared to the existing closing price prediction model using the long-short-term memory deep neural network model.
