Background: To prevent or reduce the risk of strain injury, various approaches, including stretching techniques are currently being used. The effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and static stretching on flexibility has been demonstrated; however, it is not clear which one is superior. Objects: This study aimed to evaluate the differences between the effects of PNF and static stretching performed at various intensities on muscle flexibility. Methods: The maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) of the hamstrings using the PNF stretching technique was performed in the P100 group, while 70% of the MVIC was performed in the P70 group. The MVIC value obtained during the PNF stretching in both groups was used as a reference for setting the intensity of static stretching. Static stretching was performed at 130% (S130), 100% (S100), and 70% of the MVIC (S70). The active knee extension (AKE) values, defined as the knee flexion angle were measured before stretching (baseline), immediately after stretching (post), and at 3 minutes, 6 minutes, and 15 minutes. Results: PNF stretching produce a greater improvement in flexibility compared with static stretching. Specifically, the ΔAKE was significantly higher in the S100 and S70 groups than in the P100 group at Post. In the comparison of ΔAKE over time in each group, the ΔAKE at Post showed a significant decrease compared to the value at Baseline in the S130 group; however, no significant difference was observed at 6 minutes while a significant increase was noted at 15 minutes. Conclusion: This study found that PNF stretching is more effective than static stretching with respect to increasing and maintaining the flexibility of muscles. In addition, the increase in flexibility at maximal intensity was similar to that observed at submaximal intensity during both PNF and static stretching.

3D printing has been considered a key technology, leading the fourth industrial revolution. However, 3D printed textile still has a lot of limitations to overcome before it can be adopted as a clothing material in terms of design, flexibility and dyeability. This study aims to provide modeling design for imparting the flexibility and post-dyeing process for 3D printed textiles. The modeling types were designed to test the flexibility of 3D printed textiles. The post-dyeing process was evaluated through dye absorption depending on the resin and modeling types, respectively. The results were as follows: two types of modeling (Modeling A and B) were designed with a ring structure to test the flexibility of the 3D printed textiles. The 3D printed textiles with ring-based structure Modeling A had flexibility regardless of the hardness of resin types. In the dyeability test, softening resin (S-Resin) and hardening resin (H-Resin) were found to have good dyeability with acid dye and direct dye, respectively. The condition of S-Resin with acid dye and H-Resin with direct dye was controlled by dye absorption rate.
The use of computers for control and monitoring of industrial process has expanded greatly in recent years. The computer used in such applications is shared between a certain number of time-critical control and monitor function and non time-critical batch processing job stream. Embedded systems encompass a variety of hardware and software components which perform specific function in host computer. Many embedded system must respond to external events under certain timing constraints. Failure to respond to certain events on time may either seriously degrade system performance or even result in a catastrophe. In the design of real-time embedded system, decisions made at the architectural design phase greatly affect the final implementation and performance of the system. Flexibility indicates how well a particular system architecture can tolerate with respect to satisfying real-time requirements. The degree of flexibility of real-time system architecture indicates the capability of the system to tolerate perturbations in timing related specifications. Given degree of flexibility, one may compare and rank different implementations. A system with a higher degree of flexibility is more desirable. Flexibility is also an important factor in the trade-off studies between cost and performance. In this paper, it is identified the need for flexibility function and shows that the existing real-time analysis result can be effective. This paper motivated the need for a flexibility for the efficient analysis of potential design candidates in the architectural design exploration or real time embedded system.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the planning characteristics and it's applications of container architecture in Seoul and Kyunggi Area. A document research and field survey were used to analyze and classify the spatial characteristics of the container architecture since 2009. Based on the results of the critical review, this research proposed a framework to identify the potential of the container architecture for sustainable and flexible planning. The framework was composed of four dimensions such as flexibility, rapidity, sustainability and economic feasibility. The types of space construction were dynamically self-erecting structure, incremental structure, mobile and disposable architecture. The spacial aspects were commercial spaces, housing spaces such as dormitory and urban compact apartments, and the multi-purpose spaces such as gallery and culture space as well as temporary spaces. It attempted to resolve the concept of flexibility and mobility through the experiment so that they might apply to the space of contemporary city.

And then high performance flat plate system, designed by the economy and safety, was developed as a new technique in the application of high-rise hybrid type building.
The purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of the causal maps for estimating creativity. This study assumes that fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration are elements of creativity; and there are common characteristics between systems and creative thinking. For this study, 30 students from the 5th grade create causal maps which are consisted of the contents of 'the water cycle in the earth'. The causal maps are analyzed and evaluated by focusing on the characteristics of creativity. In way of the marking causal maps based on creativity, each word is scored as 1 point on the basis of 30 points for fluency. Each word which is linked more than one word is scored 3 points for flexibility, but the maximum points are limited as 35 points. In originality, if it is approved each word is worthy as well as originality, it is scored as 10 points on the basis of 40 points. Lastly, each number of cycle loops is scored as 15 points for elaboration, and the maximum scores are limited as 45 points. As is stated above, the limiting of the maximum scores are designed based on corresponded to 10% students of participators. In the result of this study, the students' scores of evaluating creativity applied causal maps show similar patterns from relative point of view to the other results which were evaluated the creativity by credible organ. Consequently, it is recognized that the causal maps have the possibility of being able to estimate quantitatively the creativity.

This paper outlines opportunities and challenges in the Implementation of BPEL based WFMS(Work Flow Management System) for the MES(Manufacturing Execution Systems) level in semiconductor manufacturing. At present, the most MES that are composed of several hundreds of applications in semiconductor wafer fabrication shop have the same problems as others about flexibility and adaptability. When a plant has to produce new product mix, remodel the manufacturing execution process, or replace obsolete equipments, the principal road blocks for responding to new manufacturing environment are inflexible communication infrastructure among the manufacturing process components and the difficulty in porting existing application software to new configurations. In this paper, the issues about BPEL standard, used for the flexibility of Workflow Management System, are presented. We introduce the integrated development framework named nanoFlow which is optimized for developing the BPEL based WFMS application for automated manufacturing system. We describe a WFMS implemented with using nanoFlow framework, review and evaluate the system in terms of flexibility and adaptability.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Plank exercise on unstable support surfaces on flexibility, abdominal muscle thickness and pain in patients with chronic back pain. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: This study was performed on 16 patients with chronic back pain of ◯◯ military unit. Sixteen subjects were randomly assigned into two groups, an upper extremity trainer group (group I, n=8) and a lower extremity trainer group (group II, n=8). The subjects in group I carried out Flank exercise applying the stability trainer to their upper extremities and ones in group II carried out the same exercise applying the stability trainer to their lower extremities for 4 weeks. In order to ascertain the difference between two groups, flexibility, abdominal muscle thickness and pain were measured before and after the exercise. The flexibility was measured by sit and reach test, the thickness of the abdominal muscle was measured by using ultrasonic imaging equipment, and the pain was measured by the visual analogue scale. A paired t-test was utilized to compare changes in pain, abdominal muscle thickness and flexibility before and after flank exercise on unstable support surfaces. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was performed for ascertaining the significant differences between groups. The significance level was set by α=.05. Results: 1) The flexibilities of two groups were increased after the exercise (p<0.05). 2) In both groups, the thicknesses of rectus abdominis, external oblique abdominis, internal oblique abdominis, and transverse abdominis were all increased after the exercise (p<0.05). 3) The pains in both groups were decreased after the exercise (p<0.05). 4) In the comparisons of two groups, there were no differences in the flexibility, thickness of external oblique abdominis, internal oblique abdominis and transverse abdominis and pain (p>0.05). Whereas only thickness of Rectus abdominis was larger in the group I than in the group II (p<0.05). Conclusion: Plank exercise on the unstable support surface for 4 weeks resulted in increased flexibility, abdominal muscle thickness and pain reduction in patients with chronic back pain. Therefore, it is considered that performing flank exercise on the unstable supporting surface is suitable for the reduction of the pain in patients with chronic back pain. However, in this study, it is considered that continuous and diverse studies are needed because there was not a large difference between the groups when the upper or lower limbs are provided unstable support surfaces.
