This study examines the relationship between R&D(research & development) investment and market value among KOSDAQ firms in the Korea Stock Exchange. We investigate the effect of R&D investment on firm value in both total sample and sub-samples classified by firm characteristics based on types of firms. And we study the impact of a major economic disruption as the global financial crisis triggered by sub-prime mortgage problem in the US on R&D investment relative to the firm value. We find that R&D investment positively affects firm value and the squared term of R&D investment is found to be significant and negatively correlated with market value. This suggests the presence of nonlinear relationship like a reverse U-shape between R&D investment and market value in total sample and most of sub-samples. And we find firm characteristics and global financial crisis partially affect the contribution of R&D investment to market value in some of sub-samples.

The importance of social responsibility such as ethical management and social contribution activities is emphasized for the sustainable growth of companies. Although there is a great deal of research on corporate social responsibility due to the increase in social interest and expectation, most of them have been limited to research on general manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of social responsibility activities on financial performance. In addition, we want to analyze the difference in the financial performance of companies with excellent social responsibility activities announced by the Institute of Economic Justice and others. The analysis period is from 2011 to 2016, and we analyze using the robust regression methodology which is relatively effective in solving the autocorrelation and this dispersion problem. First, it is proved that the higher the KEJI index, the more positive effect on financial performance. In addition, we found that there is a significant difference in the financial performance of companies with excellent social responsibility activities and those with other social responsibility activities. These results will have important implications for establishing a firm's financial strategy and will serve as useful information for the financial industry that is striving for sustainable management.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the cases of the multiplex cinema industry of CJ CGV, Lotte Cinema and Megabox to study what CJ CGV's innovative core competence is from a management strategy perspective. Through this, the core competence strategies, Value, Rareness, Inimitability, and Organization(VRIO) were analyzed in order to derive from the major success factors based on the expansion process of Cultureplex. According to the analysis results, CJ CGV's differentiated value roots from Cultureplex, which CJ CGV priorities in creating movie theaters a cultural entertainment hub. The ability of CJ CGV in transforming the cinema into a cultural and living playground through technological innovation is it's cutting edge from its competitors under the rareness factor. A CJ CGV attains its inimitability by establishing social brand power as an inclusive social contribution. An organization of CJ CGV is a globalization worldwide. CJ CGV is to increase the brand value of cultural experience movie theaters and enhance customer satisfaction by expanding the use of existing movie theaters and pioneering with innovative development to theaters. As more to be sought out from this thesis, CJ CGV has steadily increased its competitive edge, raising its core competence of business value.

This study aims to identify the contribution of factors to employment growth over the past 20 years (1996-2016) for seven metropolitan areas in Korea. For this purpose, we performed a multifactor partitioning (MFP) analysis based on the business survey data provided by Statistics Korea. The key findings of the analysis are as follows. First, over the long run, the region effect is dominant in metropolitan employment growth, followed by the industry mix effect. On the other hand, the dynamic MFP findings suggests that future regional employment disparities are likely to be explained by industry structure. Second, the gender mix and decent job mix effect do not significantly contribute to regional employment growth. However, the contributions of individual factors are not invalid, and it is possible to infer a pattern of declining employment for men-permanent workers and increasing employment for women-contingent workers. These results indicate the importance and necessity of employment policies that can promote structural transition in regional industries and qualitative growth accompanied by employment stability.
Recommender Systems have been huge influence users and business more and more. Recently the importance of E-commerce has been reached rapid growth greatly in world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. Recommender system is the center of E-commerce lively. Top ranked E-commerce managers mentioned that recommender systems have a major influence on customer's purchase such as about 50% of Netflix, Amazon sales from their recommender systems. Most algorithms have been focused on improving accuracy of recommender system regardless of novelty, diversity, serendipity etc. Recommender systems with only high accuracy cannot satisfy business long-term profit because of generating sales polarization. In addition, customers do not experience enjoyment of shopping from only focusing accuracy recommender system because customer's preference is changed constantly. Therefore, recommender systems with various values need to be developed for user's high satisfaction. Reranking is the most useful methodology to realize diversity of recommender system. In this paper, diversity of recommender system is represented through constructing high similarity with users who have different preference using each user's purchased item's category algorithm. It is distinguished from past research approach which is changing the algorithm of recommender system without user's diversity preference level. We tried to discover user's diversity preference level and observed the results how the effect was different according to user's diversity preference level. In addition, graph-based recommender system was used to show diversity through user's network, not collaborative filtering. In this paper, Amazon Grocery and Gourmet Food data was used because the low-involvement product, such as habitual product, foods, low-priced goods etc., had high probability to show customer's diversity. First, a bipartite graph with users and items simultaneously is constructed to make graph-based recommender system. However, each users and items unipartite graph also need to be established to show diversity of recommender system. The weight of each unipartite graph has played crucial role changing Jaccard Distance of item's category. We can observe two important results from the user's unipartite network. First, the user's diversity preference level is observed from the network and second, dissimilar users can be discovered in the user's network. Through the research process, diversity of recommender system is presented highly with small accuracy loss and optimalization for higher accuracy is possible controlling diversity ratio. This paper has three important theoretical points. First, this research expands recommender system research for user's satisfaction with various values. Second, the graph-based recommender system is developed newly. Third, the evaluation indicator of diversity is made for diversity. In addition, recommender systems are useful for corporate profit practically and this paper has contribution on business closely. Above all, business long-term profit can be improved using recommender system with diversity and the recommender system can provide right service according to user's diversity level. Lastly, the corporate selling low-involvement products have great effect based on the results.

It is essential factor for business operation to raise funds effectively. However, in Korea, many start-ups and small businesses have difficulties in fund-raising. In recent years, crowdfunding, a new method for funding a project of individuals or organizations by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, has been growing up simultaneously with diffusion of social media. Crowdfunding is on early stage in Korea, and the majority of projects are focused on cultural or art categories. There is high proportion of projects that have social value in start-up sector. Crowdfunding in Korea has great potential because success rate of it is much higher than its of advanced countries, although market size is much smaller than them. The purpose of this paper is to propose success strategies of crowdfunding for start-up through case study. 5 crowdfunding platforms of Korea and Kickstarter, the platform of United States were investigated. Then we checked the figures related to the operation of the whole Korean projects on start-up. Finally, we made comparison between the cases of success and failure by analyzing 8 project characteristics. The study shows that it were the differences in trustworthiness and activeness of project creator, value of reward and efforts for interactivity that have great effects on success of the project. Whereas there was no significant influence of societal contribution and sponsor engagement. The thesis provides success strategies of crowdfunding for start-up as follows. Firstly, creator of the project should make support base by enthusiastic activites before launching funding project. Secondly, there should be contents that can easily show the process of business development in the project information. Thirdly, there must be appropriate design of rewards for each amounts of support money. Finally, efforts for interactivity, such as frequent updates, response for comments and SNS posting, should be followed after the launch of the project.
It was required to attach the documents on the details of external audit including the number of the participants in external audit, audited parts and audit times under the Article 7-2 on the audit report to the accounting audit report from 2014 in accordance with the amendment to the Act on External Audit of Stock Companies. This study aim to calculate the audit fee based on the estimated cost of service calculation of the government contribution agencies by reflecting the implementation of the revised external audit. This study calculated the audit fee for the target company (a listed company assumed to have no internal control risks and relevant audit risks for unqualified opinion in the previous year, 100 billion won of total amount of asset, manufacturing company in the previous year and preliminary client request) by putting together four items of expenditure including employment costs, expenditure, general management expenses and profit in accordance with the calculation system of cost of service under the State Contract Act. Then, it used the data collected from the documents on the details of the revised external audit after requesting estimation on the target company with the estimated cost to Big-4 accounting firms to identify the participants and times of the accounting audit. The employment costs applied 150% of participation rate of the base price of employment costs for the academic research service cost in 2014, the expenditure used the average value of accounting firms of corporate business management analysis of the Bank of Korea (2013), the general management expenses applied 5% of the general management rate of service business under Article 7-1 of the Enforcement Rule of the Act on Contracts to which the State is a Party and the profit applied 10% of profit rate of service business under Article 7-2 of the Enforcement Rule of the Act on Contracts to which the State is a Party. Based on the calculation of the estimated costs by applying the above, the audit fee was estimated at 50,617,769won. Although the result is not the optimal audit fee, it may be used as a basic scale to compare the audit fees of companies without criteria. Also, such amendment to the Act on External Audit of Stock Companies may improve independence of auditors and transparency of the accounting system rather than previous announcing only the total audit times.

This study examined the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on creative behavior and the mediating effect of knowledge sharing behavior in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. In particular, this study examined the moderating effect of leader-member exchange (LMX) in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. In this study, after distributing 500 questionnaires to executives and employees working at small and medium-sized companies in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, 259 questionnaires were used for hypothesis verification, excluding 38 unfaithful or missing responses. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a significant positive (+) effect on creative behavior. Second, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a significant positive (+) effect on knowledge sharing behavior. Third, knowledge sharing behavior was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on creative behavior. Fourth, knowledge sharing behavior was found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. Finally, it was found that LMX strengthened the positive (+) relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. The theoretical implications of this study are as follows. First, this study makes a theoretical contribution in that it revealed the mediating effect of knowledge-sharing behavior in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior through empirical analysis of corporate members. Next, this study has theoretical implications in that it revealed that LMX strengthens the positive (+) relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. On the other hand, the practical implications of this study are as follows. First, companies need to find ways to strengthen the entrepreneurial orientation. Next, companies need to find ways to improve the quality of LMX between bosses and subordinates. Finally, this study discussed research limitations and future research directions.

Purpose - Owing to economic development and rapid globalization, the number of people traveling abroad has increased dramatically in recent years. For instance, according to data from World Tourism Organization, approximately 1,724 million tourists traveled abroad in 2016. This phenomenon has resulted in a change for domestic markets, as they no longer serve only domestic customers but also serve foreign customers as well. Therefore, intercultural service encounters between services providers and customers from diverse cultural backgrounds are becoming more frequent. Especially in the field of retailing, salesperson's customer oriented selling behavior is particularly important for the successful interactions. However, it is hard to find some factors that can improve salesperson's customer oriented selling behavior in intercultural sales encounters. Research design, data, and methodology - A quantitative survey methodology was utilized to collect data on 312 salespeople at duty-free shops located on Jeju Island, Korea. As a tourism-based region, Jeju Island has attracted a large number of foreign tourists since being designated as an international free city in 2002. Owing to this phenomenon, intercultural sales encounters between salespersons and customers from different cultures have become commonplace. Compared to other salespeople, salespeople working in duty-free shops have more frequent intercultural interactions, as over 90% of their total customers are from foreign countries. Additionally, regular professional training programs for salespeople help cultivate cultural intelligence. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 20. Results - This paper explores the role of empathy and cultural intelligence in intercultural sales encounters using a theoretical model incorporating the causal relationships between empathy(cognitive empathy and emotional empathy) and customer oriented selling behavior, as well as the moderating effects of cultural intelligence in these relationships. Conclusions - This study is almost the first to explore the influence of empathy and cultural intelligence in intercultural sales encounters. Thus, this study provides a meaningful contribution to the application of empathy and cultural intelligence in the retailing field and will draw the attention of personal distribution practicers and researchers to the importance of empathy and cultural intelligence. Additionally, this study has useful managerial implications for employee selection, training, and development in retailing firms engaged in intercultural sales encounters.
